Author's Note: Takes place after episode 205

When Alex had initially suggested Sisters' Night tonight, she'd had vague, half-planned ideas of talking to Kara about the idea that she, Alex, might be gay. Maybe get a story or two about how terrible Mon-El had been at the Luthor gala. (Alex may have suggested Kara ease up on the Daxamite, but that doesn't mean she likes the guy. Besides, she knew Kara would want to vent anyway; her sister had been incredibly annoyed with how Mon-El had basically invited himself to the party.)

However, Alex didn't count on a) coming to terms on her own with the fact that she is gay, or b) the fact that Lena Luthor would use her own gala to set a trap for the villains of the week.

"A black body generator. She built a freaking black body generator," Alex sighs as she flops on the couch next to Kara. "That is both impressive and scary."

"So you and Winn tell me." Kara accepts the ice cream and spoon Alex passes her. "I still can't believe she set a trap for the bad guys and didn't tell me! Either me!"

Alex snorts as she digs into her own ice cream. "Would you really have believed that she, a Luthor, wanted to help you, a Super?"

"That's what Lena said, but honestly, why wouldn't I have believed her? She's done nothing but good things since she came to National City!"

Alex raises an eyebrow. "What about the alien detection device?"

Kara flushes. "Okay, so that might not be a good thing. But she helped us with the Venture explosion, and with finding Roulette!"

"True," Alex concedes. "But Kara, she's still a Lu-"

"Would you give that a rest? She's NOT her brother!"

Alex looks at her sister. "I know you like to see the best in everyone, Kara, but why are you so defensive of her?"

Kara doesn't have a chance to answer before her phone chimes. The blonde practically dives for it, and smiles at whatever she sees on the screen. Alex doesn't say anything as her sister quickly taps out an answer, but as soon as the phone is set back down she speaks up. "Who was that?"

Kara flushes again, and doesn't meet Alex's eyes. "Lena."

Numerous responses, ranging from incredulous to downright angry, fly through Alex's head. She sits for a moment, trying to sort out which would be both useful and not bring Sisters' Night to a premature end. "You gave her your number." Thankfully, it comes out as a simple statement.

"We're friends!"

More responses, another pause for Alex to think. She looks at Kara, notices how her sister sits a little hunched but with a determined look on her face, ready to defend this woman who… who… who really hasn't done much of anything to earn Alex's suspicion, beyond being related to quite possibly the most notable psychopath of the decade. Alex lets out a quiet sigh. "Just promise me you'll be careful." Kara still looks braced for a fight, but she nods. "Okay then." Time for a subject change. "So how bad was Mon-El at the gala?"

Kara groans. "You would not believe how he got a suit…"

No, this wasn't what Alex had expected for this edition of Danvers Sisters' Night. At some point, she really should come out to Kara. (What will Kara think? How was this kind of thing received on Krypton?) But it's been a crazy couple of days, and Kara's stories of Mon-El's ineptness have Alex remembering Kara's own first months on Earth, and teasing Kara with those memories seems like a much better use of her energies right now than potentially catastrophic conversations about attraction.
