Hey guys and happy October. To celebrate the upcoming Halloween I decided to write a bunch of one shots from Oct 21 to 31 featuring characters to going head to head with a horror character or two. Some stories will be short, others will be long. Will they live or die? Find out in these stories.

A Battle of Humanity!

As the sun began to set, Steven was driving down the road to head towards a distant town, he haven't felt more at ease than he was before. It has been months since he transformed into a giant monster and his friends managed to calm him down before he caused any damage. They assured him that everything was going to be alright without him and that they were going to be there for them as he was seeking mental help for his problems by trusting his friends more and going to therapy.

Looking out as he was passing a sign that the name of the town...

"Brightburn, Kansas." The half gem said out loud as he passed the sign. "Perhaps, I might find a place to set down here."

Unbeknownst to him, up above, he was about to enter the fight of his life.

Again.

As Steven stopped in front of a gas station to get gasoline for his car, Steven then greeted the person giving him the gasoline.

"Hey there, miss." Steven said with a smile as he held out his hand. "I'm Steven."

"Nice to meet you, Steven. I'm Ashley." The blond haired woman greeted with a deep voice that reminded him a bit of the Gems weapons maker Bismuth as she took the teen's hand as she smiled. "New to Brightburn?""Yeah, I'm on a cross country road trip." Steven said. "I once lived in Delmarva, Beach City. Since I'm new here, is there anything I should know?"

"Well, for one, you shouldn't be out here at night. It's quite dangerous to be out here at night." Ashley said. "So you should get to somewhere safe once I'm done filling up your car."

"Natural disasters?" Steven asked.

"Worse..." Ashely said as she looked around before whispering. "Rumor has it that there's been a series of murders around here for seemingly no reason."

Just then, two cop cars sped by as the the two looked on in surprise.

"Looks like a murder is in progress." Ashley said in awe, the device pouring the gasoline spilling on the ground due to her surprise.

Steven then grew a look of determination as he spoke again. "Ashley, thanks for the gasoline. I'll see you soon."

"Steven, you're not actually thinking of..." Ashley said.

"Yes, please don't try to stop me." He said, as Ashley closed the gasoline compartment before the teen began to drive off. "Stay safe."

"Be careful, Steven." The gas station worker said in concern as she watched him go down the road.

As Steven was following the cop cars from a distant he thought to himself in determination. "I don't if there's much I'll be able to do to help, but I'll do what I can. I just hope I don't need to go pink for this fight. Please be a robber, please be a robber!"

Breyer Farm...

As Steven parked his vehicle away from the farm he got out, quietly closed it, and quickly yet quietly tiptoed over to the Breyer Farm, which was looking not so good, and ducked down and hid behind one of the police cars.

Peeking out from the side, he saw a sheriff named Deever and a deputy named Aryes exit their cars as they walked up to the Breyer's residence as it shook for some reason.

"Jesus Christ, what the fuck was that?" He heard Aryes say in surprise.

Deever called out. "Tori!"

Just then Steven saw a Caucasian woman with blond hair run out as she frantically said. "No, no, no! You two need to get-"

No one was prepared for what happened next.

"You're safe now, we go th-" Deever attempted to say to calm the frantic woman down as seconds later, something really fast and strong came out of nowhere and slammed into the deputy, turning him into nothing more than a bloodied mess on the Breyer's driveway all the way to the now broken fence, much to the horror of Tori, the deputy and the still hiding Steven.

Speaking of Steven, it took every ounce of his willpower to not throw up or turn pink from what he'd just witnessed. As Steven then heard the deputy then demand that Tori hide from whoever is attacking the house, she then took out a assault rifle before she then spoke into the walkie on her shoulder, as she stated as calmly as she could. "We have a 2-1-7 at the Breyer residence, send immediate backup!" before repeating those deciding to intervene, Steven tiptoed into the house, quietly following the cop so he doesn't get mistaken for the one that is doing this and shot at.

As Aryes readied her assault rifle as she walked down a dark hallway, she peeked around the corner and saw a masked figure in at the end of the hallway.

She then retreated before speaking into her walkie once more. "This is deputy Aryes, I have eyes on the suspect."

Peeking back around, she then noticed that the figure she was tracking had mysteriously disappeared.

Steven, having been silently following her too, noticed this and thought to himself "He's gone?! Where did he go?!"

As Steven was looking around, what he didn't know was that the mysterious force was floating right behind him before it made its presence known by grabbing the half gem by the back of his pink jacket as the guy let out a surprised "Huh? What the heck?!" before he was then thrown down the hallway where the deputy was.

"Heads up!" Steven shouted to the cop as he attempted to control the floating powers so that he didn't slam into the cop, and while he managed to do that, whoever was attacking wasn't finished as he blitz towards Steven and quickly grabbed a hold of his black shirt and threw him up at the ceiling, causing him to crash into it as he let out a cough of pain before getting grabbed by the hair and getting chucked through the wall, creating a big hole in it.

With the half human momentarily out of the picture, the floating figure then turned its attention to the deputy cop who had her rifle pointed at him.

"Freeze!" Aryes demanded, terrified for her life. "Put your feet down and hands in the air or I will shoot!"

But the masked figured wasn't having it as he backhanded the rifle, breaking it in two as they then fell to the floor as the deputy then began to back away from this masked figure, who was floating menacingly towards her before he had the chance to do anything, out of nowhere, a bubbled fist slammed into the back of the individual's head as Steven, not having gone pink just yet, stood over him, breathing heavily.

"Consider that payback!" Steven said, his healing factor kicked in as the bones in his arm healed back up before turning to the cop. "Run officer! Get Tori and get out of here!"

As Aryes ran for her life, Steven noticed that the masked guy was getting back up and glaring at him through his mask, his eyes bright red. Whoever this guy is, he certainly did not like someone interfering with what he was doing. Flying towards him at super speed, the individual attempted to punch a hole through Steven's face, but for some reason, everything around the two was slowing down as Steven, turning pink for a brief second to use this ability, caught the psychopath's fist before he then grabbed the other one as they were now locked in a struggle of physicality, which they were pretty even by the looks of it... for now.

Steven then began to speak. "Look, I don't know who you are, but I can't let you go on and kill these people, so I'm giving a chance. Please stop this now and surrender the police or I'll be forced to fight back."

The masked guy's response was to make his eyes glowed red as he fired what appeared to be laser vision at the curly haired one to try and kill him kinda like what happened with Mr. Breyer. But Steven was prepared for attacks like this as he quickly summoned a round bubble that pink in color and big in size as he managed to not only deflect and protect himself from the lasers but also make this masked figure back and making him stumble a little.

"Hold on a sec." Steven said as he saw the individual stop, knowing that he had his attention. "I know we're fighting and all, but can you at least tell me why you're doing this?"

The individual wearing the mask only said three simple words.

"Take the world."

That was all the masked person said as he blitz towards the protected Steven and with a mighty punch, not only sent the bubble flying but also caused it to shatter due to the strength of the masked being's punch as the teen was sent flying back and slamming into the wall before was then tackled through it.

As Steven was fighting this home invader, Aryes was running for her life trying to find Tori. Now that she no longer had a weapon, she spent the past few minutes searching the place for the Breyer woman and calling out her name while repeatedly calling for backup.

"Tori!" She called out for the umpteenth time.

"In here!" she heard a voice call out from the room she almost passed.

Quickly opening the door, he deputy said, "Come on, we need to leave." She then grabbed the distressed woman by the arm and quickly dragged her with her down the hallway.

"No, you don't understand." Tori said, frantically as she was getting dragged. "There's no place we can hide from him."

"Who is he anyway?" Aryes asked. "And why is he attacking your home?"

"My son Brandon." Tori said with horror and guilt ever so clear on her face.

"What?!" The deputy said in shock. "What do you mean?"

Tori paused for a bit before responding. "My husband Kyle. He..." Tears began to stream down her eyes. "He kept saying that something was wrong with Brandon, but I refused to listen. It was only after I found out about my brother in law Noah's death that I realized that Brandon was the one responsible for it. And now I fear that Brandon had killed Kyle too."

"When was the last time they were together before your husband's death?" The deputy said.

"They went on a hunting trip where he was gonna try to kill Brandon." Tori said with a sigh. "Guess bullets didn't work on him."Just then, Tori got an idea.

"But I think I know what does." Tori said before she then ran out the still open door. "Follow me, quick!"

She then began to run to the back of the house, the female cop following her.

Back with Steven, Brandon had tackled him into a support beam where he then attempted to hit him with a powerful punch, only to for it to get blocked by the hybrid's shield and though the attack was defended against, the force of it created a shockwave that blew Steven through the support beam and skid across the floor where he slammed the back of his head into the kitchen counter as the shield turned into sparkles of magic. "This guy isn't playing around." The gem teen thought to himself as he quickly rolled out of the way of oncoming punch. "I have to turn around fast or I'm going to be in trouble. It's a risky thing to do in situation like this but I'm going to survive this fight, I'll have to chance it, I just hope that my emotions don't turn me into a monster like before." As Brandon fired his heat vision at Steven as he floated up to avoid the blasts before turning pink and summoning a pink, hexagonal shield, that is stronger than his normal one, which he used to not only block the beams (which were going over the place) but also slam the human like alien into the floor, pinning him there.

"STOP IT!" Steven shouted at Brandon and nearly breaking the floor below them. "Look, I don't why you want to "Take the world" but I won't let you." The son of Pink Diamond said as he calmed himself while still in his pink form. "I don't know what planet you're from but I'm not letting you take over mine." Brandon's eyes widened in surprise as he heard this which caused him to turn the heat vision off.

"Yeah, that's right. This is my home and I refuse to let you conquer it. So this is the last I give you: Stand down and stop killing people or I'll have no choice but to put you down." Steven said as summoned a pair of hexagon shields with added spikes on them on both of his arms to prove that he wasn't bluffing. "I don't want to do that but you're not giving me any choice, so surrender and face the consequences or force my hand and be killed, so what's going to be?"

But Brandon refused to be ordered around by this inferior life form as he punched the shield that was pinning him down, forcing it off him and making it disappear as Steven jumped back as he saw Brandon slowly began to get up before he flew towards Steven with his fists clenched tightly as Steven bubbled his fists up once more before he collided a fist with the alien's as a shockwave shook the house as the floor broke apart as Brandon tackled the hero down into the hole as they began to punch the crap out of each other.

Meanwhile Tori and Aryes were now in the backyard running towards the barn.

Getting to it, Tori pulled the doors open and rushed inside.

"Why are we here?" The deputy said in confused.

"To get to Brandon's spaceship." Tori said as she opened the door to the cellar. "The metal is capable of hurting him, let's go!"

Upon entering the barn, Ayres stepped on something. Looking down, she covered her mouth.

It was a corpse, but not just any corpse.

It was the corpse of Erica Conner, Caitlyn's mother who had been presumed missing for a while. Now she known the reason.

"My God." Tori said as she covered her mouth in shock. "How could Brandon do something like this?"

"I don't know but I do know that he's not going to do something like this anymore.

Feeling determined, Tori then said, "You're right, let's get down to the cellar."

The deputy quickly followed her down to the cellar and let out a gasp of absolute shock as she something big and otherworldly standing on top of a pile of hay. "So, this is..."

"Yeah. It's the spaceship." The mother of the alien said as she tore off some metal. "Now let's arm ourselves and fast. It's only a matter of time before Brandon finds us."

After a few minutes, they scrap the ship of all the metal and hid the various pieces in there clothes.

"Okay, let's kill this monster." Aryes said as the two rushed out of the cellar.

The two women rushed outside as they saw Steven crashing through a wall and landing right in front of them in a battered heap as he turns back to normal.

"Whoever this guy is... he's tough." Steven as he began to get up due to him beginning to heal himself.

Without warning, Brandon used his super speed to appear in front of the three before stomping one of his feet on one of Steven's shoulders, causing him to scream out in pain. Looking up at him with an intense glare, Steven saw that Brandon was about to use his heat vision, but the half gem refused to let that happen as he put a hand up to the young alien's face and focused his mind.

All of a sudden, the god like child's eyeballs were covered in two pink, hard constructed, bubbles, one for each eye as they stopped the heat vision, before they were transported away.

Brandon screamed in pain from the loss of his eyes as he stumbled all around.

Seeing this opportunity, Tori and Ayres enacted their plan.

Suddenly he heard a remorseful "I'm sorry Brandon." coming from Tori before he felt something sharp stab into his shoulder causing him to scream in pain once more.

Afterwards, he felt himself get bombarded with metal shards from his ship as he knew that it was capable of hurting him but was unable to do anything as felt everything get punctured and impaled by the material.

Once it was over, Brandon collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood.

"Take... the... world." was the alien child's last words as he finally passed away from the living world.

Steven, Tori and Ayres stood in complete silence for the past 3 minutes as they tried to process what they just did.

It was over.

They won.

All the deaths of Brandon had caused have been avenged.

There was one less invader in the world.

"Did we win?" Tori asked in surprise staring down at the one she once called her son's corpse.

"L-Looks like it." Ayres said, shaken up from this night's events before turning to Steven who finally managed to heal all of his wounds. "Thank you for the assistance, um?"

"Steven and you're... welcome. I am glad to help." He panted as he stared down sadly at Brandon's corpse. "I just... wish that... it didn't end like this."

Suddenly, they all heard the sound of police sirens in distance.

"Come on you two, we have a LOT to explain to my fellow officers." Ayres said as she lead the two towards the oncoming squad of officers...
