A/N: This is an Alex/Kara fic. If that's not your thing, please exit, stage left. Flames will be met with mockery.

A/N2: Written for Kalex Week 2021 Day 2: There was only one bed.

"We shouldn't be doing this."

Kara raised her head and stared down at Alex. "If you stop, I swear I will use my heat vision and melt your face!" Ready to scream in frustration, Kara rolled her hips in a clear hint. She did scream (although, she managed to keep the laser eyes at bay) when Alex wiggled out from between Kara's thighs.

Tension had turned Alex's beautiful, lean body into a series of flexing muscles and tightly-pressed lips. "I'm going to call the reception desk."

She'd already called a dozen times. The exhausted college kid manning the front desk had had the same answer each time: there were no other rooms available. None. And they'd run out of cots an hour before Kara and Alex had rolled into Roswell, New Mexico, thanks to a convention.

The UFO Festival. Thousands of sign-waving, alien-loving humans. All of them apparently checked into local hotels, Airbnbs, and campgrounds. This was the only room. Period.

Kara had nearly squealed with joy when she'd heard Alex's disbelieving complaints.

"You'll have to fly back to National City." Alex stomped over to where Kara stood with the luggage. "There's only one room."

Kara already knew that. Sometimes, Alex "forgot" she was an alien with superpowers. Alex must also have snuck more than a few drinks if she thought Kara was donning the suit over the current situation. "No," she said firmly. "I'm tired and hungry enough to eat every potsticker in Roswell." Ignoring Alex's shock at her comment, she nimbly hopped over the luggage and sprinted to the registration desk. "We'll take it. Thank you for finding something for us."

"Alex, if you don't get back in bed, I'm going to use your handcuffs." Kara wasn't joking. Things had been going well (so, so well).

When Alex rolled her eyes, ignored Kara's threat, and reached for the phone's handset, Kara lost her patience. The cheap plastic phone base crumpled in her fist.

"Damn it, Kara! We'll have to pay for that."

Hands on hips, Kara glared at Alex. "Who cares? We're stuck in Roswell, with way too many humans who'd think I was a God in they knew a real alien was at their UFO Festival. There's not a single Supergirl, DEO, or CatCo emergency. And there's only one bed." Kara couldn't resist stressing the most important point of all. One. Bed. Nowhere for Alex to run or hide. "Handcuffs or no handcuffs? Your call."

Alex didn't answer.

Amusement pushed past Kara's continued frustration. "Give in, Alex, or you won't be able to touch…these…" Standing straighter, Kara made sure to thrust her boobs out a little more and wiggle a bit.

"Kara."

"Yes, Alex." Was it mean that Kara tightened her abs and flexed her arms?

"Kara." Even as Alex's eyes followed the shift and play of Kara's Abs of Steel, Kara heard a familiar tone in Alex's voice. Sure enough, Alex began a familiar refrain. "We can't do this. Share a bed. Share…other things."

Face heating, Kara ground out between gritted teeth, "Don't say it. Don't. You. Dare!"

There it was. The hated pity in Alex's eyes. "We're sisters, Kara."

"That's it. That's it!" The lamp on the workstation across the room toppled onto the floor from the whipping wind created by Kara's superspeed. It's lightbulb shattered in time with Alex's grunt of surprise as Kara tossed her onto the bed.

Kara fought to control her strength as she slapped Alex's DEO-issue metal handcuffs around Alex's wrists.

Settling on her knees, Kara straddled Alex's narrow hips. "I love you, Alex. I've loved you from the minute Kal dropped me in your front yard and ran away like the worthless coward he is." This wasn't the speech Kara had practiced when she'd begged J'onn to let her accompany Alex on a fugitive hunt.

She didn't let that stop her, though. "You aren't my sister. A piece of paper with a bunch of forged signatures doesn't change the fact that you and I were born on different planets. We share no blood; we have no common ancestors."

Alex's jaw was still tight. Her body stiff and unresponsive beneath Kara. "You are stubborn, zhao. Proud. Arrogant. Strong in your convictions." She bent and pressed her lips to Alex's. "You would have had all of Krypton at your feet. Alex Kara-El. Leader of the Science Guild. Brightest mind on Krypton, and the most beautiful Lady El in our Great House's history."

"I'm not beautiful," Alex muttered. Her cheeks blazed, but her lips twitched with a hint of a pleased smile.

"You're exquisite," Kara reiterated. "My zhao. The owner of my soul. The other half of my heart. The one being in all the universe that Rao created just for me."

The handcuffs rattled as Alex raised her hands. Cold metal pressed against the back of Kara's neck. "Rao's Gift, huh?" The smile was hesitant but full-blown now.

Kara kissed Alex again, relishing the way Alex melted against her rather than tried to pull away. "My kyn. Father Rao knew I would need someone strong, brave, and brilliant to survive on Earth. You, Alex."

"I love you, too," Alex whispered. Kara heard her heart thundering in her chest. "So much."

Fingers trembling, Kara wiped away the tear that leaked from Alex's eye. "It will be my honor to protect you, zhao. In Rao's light, I vow to always place your needs first, above even my life. You are the air that I breathe. The beacon that calls me home. I am yours, Alex. Until Rao calls me into His arms and beyond."

"Jesus, Kara." The metal handcuff links shifted as Alex's fingers dove into Kara's hair. They gripped and pulled Kara closer. Until Alex's lips brushed Kara's. Until her tears dampened Kara's cheeks. "You're such a sap."

Kara didn't deny the accusation. Instead, she spread her arms and legs, lowering her torso onto Alex. "I've been called worse." She nipped the skin stretched over Alex's driving pulse. "By you, I'd like to point out."

"You're mistaken." Alex's eyes brightened with laughter. With…Kara stared at the warm, soft gaze…love. "I'd never say a mean word to my shesur."

The Kryptonian word implied Kara was Alex's soulmate. "Let me worship you in Rao's Light. Let our passion thank Him for his Gift of our love. I give all that I am to you, Alex Kara-El." Reaching behind her head, Kara gripped the links binding Alex's wrists and tore them apart.

"Thank Rao." Alex hands slid over Kara's back. From the pressure and pinch, she'd raked her nails from shoulders to butt. She arched up. Lips and tongue painted Kara's neck in sloppy kisses.

Kara shuddered.

More pressure. She glanced down, watching as Alex pinched and rolled and pulled on her nipples.

"More," she begged.

"More, please," Alex mocked, but she did as Kara asked without waiting for Kara to use the courtesy.

Kara lost track of time. Alex's hands and lips were everywhere. She balanced on the edge of control. Afraid to give in. Afraid to pull back. Needing Alex. Needing. When Alex slithered down the bed, when her head fit between Kara's thighs, when her tongue curled over and around Kara's clit – Kara trembled.

They'd been here before.

This was different.

This wasn't a one-night stand that would send Alex into a spiral of self-hatred and guilt for sleeping with a woman she thought of as her sister.

This was a consummation of their love. A celebration of their bond.

One of Alex's hands slid up Kara's body. It bypassed her breast until it rested, a warm, solid weight, over Kara's heart. "Let go. I'm here, Kar. I'll keep you safe."

Tears burned her cheeks as Kara bowed her head. Pressure and need gathered where Alex's tongue caressed her clit before slipping through her slick folds and inside her cunt. She cried out, a harsh, animal scream of satisfaction and victory.

Lips coated in her own taste crashed frantically into Kara's. Teeth bit at her neck. Her earlobes. Tenderness was gone. Alex was raw, rough, aching need.

"I'm here," Kara whispered, an echo of Alex's pledge. Rolling them over in one smooth twist, she drove two fingers deep. Muscles clenched around them as Alex thrashed and bucked against her.

Kara's phone pinged a notification. "I hate the real world." She pouted as she moved out of Alex's arms. The real world wasn't finished with Kara yet. A knock sounded at the door. "Get that while I check my messages?"

"Your wish is my command." Alex bowed theatrically.

"And you say I'm the drama queen." Kara unlocked her phone and pressed the voicemail icon, ignoring Alex's mumbled "You are" as Lena's voice emanated from the speaker.

"Good morning!" Kara had never heard Lena sound so happy. "I hope you enjoyed your visit to Roswell and my early Christmas gift. At least you didn't go to Vegas. Not even the Luthor fortune would have covered the cost of reserving every single room there."

A gift. Kara stared at her phone in shock. Lena had arranged their room? Their one bed?

"What the fuck?"

Kara whipped around.

"What is this?" Alex shoved an open pastry box into Kara's hands.

Pink-iced doughnuts sat in regimented rows. Doughnuts that looked like… "Holy Rao!" Kara slammed the box closed when her phone buzzed again. This time with a text from Lena.

Sam says she hopes you enjoyed your Gift from Rao. If not, she thought you could eat away your frustration – and lick the frosting off her gifts.
