Hey everyone. Sorry for not uploading like the usual schedule I did when posting chapters for this story. I took a one week break away from writing so, that's a reason. I bet some of you are waiting for the next chapter of this story, so I managed to still keep going. I... got nothing else to say, except that a few people followed and favorited my work, so thanks to that. Anyway, to the reviews first, because I didn't check that out for the previous chapter.
Von the Unstoppable - No. Sorry man, I don't do harems. Unless it's an anime.
1049 - I really love to do those, but again, this isn't a Mortal Kombat themed story man, so yeah. Not gonna let that happen. Sorry.
NiteOwl18 - Thanks man, really appreciate it. And yes, Edward Greenville is somehow inspired from Green Goblin from Raimi's Spiderman. Good mentioning about that.
Guest (2) and Same Guest as be - I don't know if you two are just going to review that this story is either bad or not great interest to read because I made Lincoln got bullied again, just like some stories about him getting bullied. I have nothing else to say, except that this is how a comic/hero story should feel like.
Anyway, enjoy.
Six years ago…
In the playground at Ketcham Park, three boys are bullying a seven-years old boy, who a bit bruised, but was easily taken out by the bullies. A bully with black hair, in a form of a buzzcut, was beating him with a heated fist, while two of his friends had some sort of mutation powers. One who can clone himself, and the other who can fire spitting powers.
The bullies were laughing and mocking the poor boy, until the heated fist boy grabbed him by the collar. "So, are you gonna stop trying to tell what to do, huh? Basically, you need to learn your lesson about respecting us powered kids!" he readied his heated arm to as he held it in so he can punch him on the guts.
"Hey!"
The lead bully stopped, He, along with his friends, turned their heads to see a seven-year old Lincoln, standing on his ground, with a glare. "You better leave that kid, right now!" he yelled, but it wasn't that loud.
"Oh, not you again." The lead bully muttered, and dropped the boy. "Get lost, Loud! Or so help me, I'm gonna tear you a new bunch of bruises! I'm giving you a chance to chicken out, Loser!" he threatened, but Lincoln wasn't scared by it.
"If you stop him right now, I'll…" Unfortunately, the boy stopped, and he wasn't able to say what's next on his mind. "I'll… I'll stop you myself!"
The bullies paused for a second, and they formed cocky grins on their faces as they activate their powers. "Is that so? Huh, Loud?" the lead bully hits his heated fist on to his palm. "Don't make me regret this, okay!" he happily said.
The three boys charged at the now scared Loud boy. Before he could escape, he was already met with a fast launch of the bully's heated fist as it directly punched him on the face. Next, the fire spitting boy spat on his legs, flinching from the painful scorch of the fire. Lincoln tried to escape by just dragging himself out of the playground, but was grabbed behind his back as the cloning boy started to create clones to gang around the defenseless, white-haired boy, who prepared to kick him.
Lincoln was thrown of on the ground, who was now met by the first bullied boy. Lincoln, now all beaten, was met by the smiles of the bullied boys as they attack both boys again. Suddenly, the ground turned into ice, and the lead bully's heated fist started to fade away. The bully was disappointed and mad. The bully felt his hands getting cold.
"Hey! Who's doing that?! Stop it, or I'll – " he was stopped when he noticed a thirteen-years old Lori, who was the one who turned the ground into ice, glaring at the bullies, with a baseball bat on her hand.
"Final warning, you three! Get hell away from those boys, or else!" she warned as she started to walk her way at them.
The bullies, who all started to look frightened by Lori's entrance, decided to give up. "She has a bat! She going nuts!" the lead bully screamed and ran away, along with his friends. "Don't beat us, we're sorry!"
"Jerks." The eldest grumbled. She gave the bat back to a nine-year old Lynn, who ran towards her after. "Thanks, Lynn." She rushed her way to Lincoln and the other boy. "Are you two alright?! What happened?"
"I'll tell you what happened. Your dumb brother tried to stop them, but he didn't!" the bullied boy complained. "None of this wouldn't happened if he didn't get in the way. But he wanted to play hero instead!" he got up from the ground as he coughed. "Don't be a hero, Loud! Make up your mind!" he walked away.
Lori faced at Lincoln, who was now irritated. "Lincoln. What did you do now this time?" she sternly asked.
"I wanted to stop them for what they're doing! They can't just bully other kids here in the park!" Lincoln reasoned out, ignoring the bruises from what the bullies did. "Come on, Lori! You used your powers, why didn't you stop them?"
"Because for one, I'm older than them, and I'm NOT beating up a bunch of second graders!" Lori explained. "Two, we already told you a million times, don't act like a superhero in public! You're not embarrassing yourself, but some people told us about what you've doing."
"But Lori, I was only doing the right thing." the white-haired boy reasoned.
"AND you got beaten up for the seventh time in this month, bro!" Lynn, who approached them, argued. "Mom and Dad are gonna flip on you after what you did." She was also with Luna.
"Yeah. Lynn's right." An eleven-year old Luna agreed. "Besides, not only Mom and Dad are gonna scold him for this, but surely, his gonna get grounded afterwards. Plus, weren't we supposed to look after him?"
"Don't you mean 'you and Lori', Luna?" Lynn argued back at Luna's words. "You guys are more responsible for look after Lincoln, and I'm not included in this!"
"Enough, you two!" Lori interrupted them. "Come on, we need to go! I think I can hear Gramps calling us." She grabbed Lincoln from his wrist, and the four siblings proceed to head back to their grandfather.
In the present, Lincoln is seen seating on the couch, who was also eating a bowl of cereal and watching TV. It was 9 in the morning, and Lincoln managed to be the first person to wake up. A reason was that he wanted to have an early head start so that he won't have to be late at Hudson's training.
Lynn walked down from the stairs, yawning after her sleep. She went to the kitchen only to grab a container of milk, and pass by Lincoln, as she joined him on the couch. "Oh, hey bro. I almost didn't notice you here." she started to drink a little bit of milk before stopping. "So, why how long you've been up?"
"About three hours." Lincoln responded, as Lynn was confused by this. "I got up by seven. I know, I know. Lincoln, there isn't school today. It's Saturday. I know, I just want to get a fresh head start in the weekend that's all."
"Oh, no wonder." Lynn said, as she started to go back to drinking the carton of milk. "So, I bet you got some plans later with your friends, right?" she pondered to her question. "For sure, you got some plans with those two later, and I know exactly why now you got so early."
"Well, to further explain it, I got up early so I won't have to miss everything on the weekend." Lincoln added from what he said earlier. "Besides, you and Lana were up all night."
The jock scoffed back. "Right. About that. Sure." She noticed the remote on Lincoln's hand. "Hey, don't mind if I have the remote?"
"Sure, here." The white-haired boy gave the remote his sister. He grabbed his phone to see what time it was. He realized that it was 9 AM. But realized that he only has thirty minutes to head to the hideout of Jim in the city. At least he remembered what he should be there.
"Oh, crap. I'm gonna be late. But I can make it." Lincoln stated on his mind. He walked way to the kitchen to not just dump his bowl in the sink, but to grab his backpack, and search inside in case if he has everything. After tying his shoes, he made his way to the doorstep.
Lynn noticed this from his brother, and asked. "What's with the rush, Linc? Don't you need something?"
"Sorry Lynn, but I need to go right now. I'm gonna be late for… " he was almost about to say the truth from yesterday, but he managed to say what he has on his mind. "… at the school. Yeah, I need to go and pick up some… lost stuff in the janitor's closet." He said as he made out from the house, in case if her sister has something else to ask.
Lynn shrugged off from the awkward scene that Lincoln made, and looked back to the TV. "Yep. Definitely woke up to meet his friends." He said as she kept on changing channels. "Good for him."
WHITE RAPTOR
CHAPTER 6
LEARNING THE BASICS
Inside the Black Bunker, Lincoln is inside the main room of the hideout, where he is eating a bacon and egg sandwich on the seats, while also waiting for Jim. While waiting, there can be some metal clanging and some other stuff being dropped on the floor of the other room. After a minute, Jim entered in the main room, where he wiped of some sweat on his forehead.
"So, what's with the whole clanging and stuff dropping?" Lincoln asked, after he take another bite of his soon-to-be-finished sandwich. "You must be pretty busy, Mr. Hudson."
"The whole metal clanging and stuff dropping was the room for your training." The vigilante stated. "Also, no need for that last name crap. Just call me Hudson."
"Alright." Lincoln replied with his mouth full. As he crumpled the wrapper, he gulped down his chewed food. "So, Hudson, uh… how's this training of mine gonna go anyway. I mean, I am ready for this, but I don't even know where to start, which you didn't tell me right after I left home." He added. "Anyway, where do I start with my training?"
"Now that you mentioned it, here's how we're going to start your training to be a vigilante. Let's start by with some three basic steps." He showed his three fingers, which are raised, to Lincoln. "First, we're going to start by Combat training, where you will learn how to fight in hand-to-hand combat. Followed by Weapon Craft, where you will craft your own weapon, and lastly Crime Stopping, which is the most complicated, yet important part of this segment." He stated all the three basic steps to the white-haired boy.
"It sounded like they're kinda complicated." Lincoln admitted. "Where do we start? At the Crime Stopping part?"
"No, not really." Hudson replied. "First, we'll start you of in the Combat Training part. It's basically the most important part in this training program I'm giving you. We'll start by where we left off last night, and I'm going to teach finally teach you how to fight properly." He stated the first part, which he declared the most important. "So, are you ready?"
"Yes. Yes, I am." Lincoln agreed, with no hesitation on his voice or tone whatsoever. "Oh. Uh… hold on! Are you supposed to, you know… workout or something first before we start?"
"Yep." Hudson pointed at the training room. "Training room. Start with the exercises, and I'll be there in five minutes so we can start."
FIRST STEP: COMBAT
When Lincoln finished the exercises and warm ups, he waited for about fifteen minutes, because of Hudson taking forever to fix the leaking pipes and the computer having a malware virus. But since it's already dealt with, Hudson came in to the training room to start the first step of his training.
"Alright, I'm back. Sorry about the delay, the computer's mainframe got hit with another malware, but it's all good." Hudson gestured in a relaxed way. "Anyway, since you've been doing some warms ups and exercises, I think it's time now to teach you the basic fighting skills in your first basic training."
"No matter how it goes, I can take it." Lincoln said, as if he was determined.
"Alright. Fighting spirit. That's a start." Hudson was impressed a bit. "So, combat. What is it? It's about protection. But it's a hard and risky thing for you to handle, which might lead you to a safer path, or a terrible path. Those are the two roads for both decisions in your life." He explained. "Remember, the supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy, without fighting."
"What does that even mean?" Lincoln asked confusingly.
"Which is why you're here to learn how to fight. The right way." Hudson stated, but also replied. He began the first step as he demonstrated the first move in front of him. "Okay, the first move you need to learn is making a stance. Making a stance is important so you can throw your punches for wider varieties so you won't be exposed. Always make sure that your hands are within your face so you can defend yourself, and turn your body to the other side so you can show off the dominant part. Also, make sure your fists are tight as hell."
"Okay, but why?" Lincoln asked, since he is also new to the whole fighting skills, despite last night.
"I told you, it will make you fighting styles or skills a lot wider and won't leave you exposed." Hudson repeated. "The next thing you need is to learn where to punch. The entire body is there weak spot and will make them get stunned, unless you're dealing a brute." He stated the last part. "But, if you want to make them feel pain, go for these parts; eyes, ears, crotch, and nose. It'll make your opponent blind or deaf, or if you want to end a fight quickly."
"But what if I said they fight dirty." Lincoln asked. A good question for a coaching vigilante to answer. "What if they had some tricks up in their sleeves? You know, guns, knives, or anything."
"Since you're gonna deal with criminals and defending yourself, you always need to fight dirty back at them. If they don't play fair, then get down and dirty." Hudson explained.
Lincoln just let out a disgust look about the last part, since he's getting ideas about. But he understood it. As if it's like playing fire with fire.
"Now for the last part, you'll learn how to throw your punches at them. I'll make this quick." He said as starts to perform each punch, one by one. "First off, throwing a jab furthest to your enemy is probably a good start. Always remember that once you throw a jab, you need to make an alternative to get off multiple hits, and always keep your other hand on your face as protection. Throwing hooks is another great way. It'll get your opponent off guard so they won't have to see what's next. And lastly, headbutts are perfect way to get them unconscious." He ended as he finished all the demonstrations.
Lincoln adapted every move he demonstrated, but he knows that there are questions to be asked. "Hold on. What about kicks. Is that also important?"
"Oh, yeah. Almost forgot about that." Hudson made another stance, and performed some kicks. "These kicks are pretty simple, but not like boxing. There's the foot jab, side kicks, hook kicks, and heel hook kicks." He demonstrated each of the kicks as he ended, but he added. "Remember, you need to lean more backwards so you can reach and extend your legs better."
"Okay. Got it." Lincoln said.
"Good. This means you'll have to start from all I just said." Hudson stated. "Are you ready?"
"As long I'm gonna kick your butt for this training, I'm ready." Lincoln was eager to perform the basic fighting steps and tips that Hudson demonstrated.
Somehow, the vigilante chuckled at Lincoln's response. Lincoln's face dropped confused. "Sorry, but you're not gonna fight me. You're gonna be fighting a it."
"Who's it?"
"ACT-1. Get in here."
At the left corner, a robot woke up when its red eyes shined opened as it was activated. The robot was above average height, it looked slimmer and not to bulky since it looked like it was made with spare parts from a dumpster, and the design was also a bit sleek, but again, it looked like the parts were mashed together.
"Kid, meet the Advanced Combat Training robot, or ACT for short." Hudson introduced. "You may think that this robot is all just a pile of junk mashed together, but you should be wrong about that. This robot can easily fight anyone, since it's database was encrypted and downloaded in their system to learn how to fight, which I did of course." ACT-1 made it's fists tight as it was prepared to fight. "Also, you don't have to worry about the metal, some of it has some soft material on it."
Lincoln rolled his eyes with a grin on his face. "Pssh. I can totally beat a robot down." He confidently said as he is on his fighting stance. "Plus, this is gonna be a piece of cake."
"Alright, but you're the one who said it." Hudson reminded. "ACT-1. Begin combat! Now!"
The robot followed the order as it leaped towards the white-haired boy. Lincoln was alerted by the sudden move as he panicked his way to avoid it, despite the robot not getting damaged. As Lincoln and ACT-1 got in their stance, the white-haired boy tried to deliver a jab to knock it out. He even tried three times, but it the robot was able to dodge them properly. Lincoln delivered a foot jab, but again, the robot was able to dodge it.
Afterwards, ACT-1 managed to block a hook that Lincoln threw. ACT-1 shoved the arm away, as it began to make light, but seemingly painful, punches at Lincoln's body. The hands were made boxing glove-like material, but it still counts as pain. Lincoln was able to focus after, and managed to dodge two punches, but wasn't quick enough to dodge a kick, followed by a punch to the gut, and a light kick to the shin, making him loose his balance.
Lincoln regained his energy as he tirelessly got up, and catch his breath. "Hey, Hudson. How come this robot is so good at fighting. I mean, this is like cheating."
"That's how criminals fight, kid. They always play dirty, never play by the rules." Hudson stated some facts. "As a vigilante myself, I've experience myself some fighting from them since then. They will always learn how to play tricks and play dirty. What's also important, is defense."
As the word 'defense' hit Lincoln's head, he starts to remember each of the robot's moves, which wasn't compared to Hudson's. As they both got into their stances, the white-haired boy gave the robot a throwing hook, which made it lost its focus. The robot was met with a jab under its neck, followed by a punch to the face, and four or five blows to the body, but one was on the eyes. The robot's vision was shorted out due to blow he was received. Lincoln used this advantage as he did a side kick, which made the robot short out, making it deactivated in the process.
Lincoln was relieved that he was able to take out the test robot, which made him smile little. "I can't believe it! I did it!" he chuckled a little too. "Holy, shit! I can't believe it that I managed to took it out myself!"
"Alright, save the victory cheer later on." Hudson cut off, as he walked in. "You did well. You followed and remembered every move I taught you. And I'm also impressed that you did a number on it."
"Oh, uh…" Lincoln scratched his head in embarrassment. "Heh. Sorry about that."
"It's fine. They can reconstruct themselves. They're like living magnets." Hudson stated, as the robot that Lincoln fought with was able to regain to bring back it's part together in one piece after three minutes. "See. Good as new."
"Woah…" the white-haired bot was amazed by this. "So, does this mean I'm good for combat?"
"Yes, but I would say you're close in this right now." Hudson said. "You still need to learn how to fight off a group."
"Wait, groups? Like a gang of criminals?" Lincoln was bewildered by this.
"Relax, kid. That part is reserved for later. Because we're going to the next step of your training." Hudson noted.
STEP 2: WEAPON CRAFTING
Lincoln and Hudson are both in another room they're both in. The room is looks exactly like a normal garage in every American home, but it's twice wider. In the center, there's a large table, that has some technology installed on top, and has some buttons that look a bit complicated, which is basically a computer-like table, despite it being complicated.
"Next step in your training is how to craft your own weapon." Hudson stated. "Heroes use weapons too, but some are more of a special gadget types. Even vigilantes, like me, use mostly weapons and gadgets. We rely on gadgets, and we rely on weapons. But mostly, we rely on both." He explained.
"So… that would explain your gun-crossbow weapon thingy?" Lincoln pointed out, mentioning Hudson's main weapon.
"Yes. Just like my weapon that I always used." He went to the table and showed his weapon. The display was in a holographic version, which also viewed its transformation and its other interesting details. There was even a name for it which is called Judger. "This gun is a priceless weapon that I ever crafted. In fact, from my training back then, all of uses these kinds of weapons to make crime fighting much easier."
'Hold on. You said 'all of us'." Lincoln repeated back from what Hudson said. This made his interest go up high. "What were they like? Are they a lot harsher than you are? Did some of the same masks like you?"
"Uh… they're fine, just as I am." Hudson replied. "All I know is that they fight whatever suits them, and they were different kinds of masks unlike mine." He added, to which made Lincoln's question answered.
Hudson proceeded back to type in something in the computer table. After done typing, the table revealed a holographic-like workbench. There are some weapon ideas and concepts to choose from.
"Here's what's going to happen in your next training. You'll be crafting your own weapon. The workbench that you're seeing now in the holo-table will help you how to craft your weapons for a much better way." Hudson instructed.
"So, how will I start?" The white-haired boy asked, despite it being his first time.
"First, you need to choose a weapon what want."
"Okay. Choosing a weapon…" Lincoln starts to search every weapon he sees. There were thousands to choose, from blades and sticks, to pistols and assault rifles. But knowing that he doesn't want to be the 'killer type', he decided to choose from a sniper rifle. "Ooh, I'll choose this. This looks good."
"Okay. You managed to pass the first step." Hudson joked a little, "Next is you need to choose a secondary weapon to add in for its transformation. Head to secondary tab, and you can choose from all of the weapons there."
"Alright. I can do that." He started to choose a secondary weapon by just swiping and swiping each choice over and over, until he stops to see a claymore sword. "Huh. This is weird. But let's try it." He grabbed the claymore sword as his second choice.
"Okay, now the last thing you need to do is to add some special features." Hudson stated. "Like adding shock tasers, or something that can support your weapon in combat."
"Seems complicated, but I'll try." Lincoln tried a special feature where the sword of the sword-sniper can be a fire sword, with unlimited gas. "A fire sword. Alright, that sounds cool enough." He dragged the special feature into his finished weapon. "So, what's next?"
"Once you're done crafting your weapon, all you need to do is press craft, so it can do it's little magic." Hudson instructed.
Lincoln followed as he continued back to craft the weapon on its transformation setting and placing the secondary weapon and special features altogether. Once his done, he pressed the craft button, who was also excited to see how will first weapon go in the end. As the weapon was now completely scanned, a box-shaped machine was heard as it was making tinkering noises. In the end, Lincoln's first weapon was revealed.
"Woah…" he said in awe after he grabbed the weapon with his hands. "So, what now?"
"Try it." Hudson just said.
Lincoln grinned, who was also excited to know how will his first weapon will go in it's test run. As he tried to form it in its weapon form, the transformation somehow made some sparks coming out of it, which makes the weapon to start short circuiting, followed by it's parts falling off, and to end of it, it just broke into pieces on to the ground.
"What the – But how?" Lincoln was now bewildered by the results. "How did it even got destroyed just like that – It looked way better in that table-computer-holographic or whatever!" he reach out his hand to grab it, but it exploded as its blade was launched in the process. "I'm guessing that holo-table's broken."
"The computer's workbench system wasn't broken, it's your weapon that's broken." He stated, which is completely true. "Each weapon you'll craft will be either end up being destroyed, or too complicated for you to use. The weapon that you're crafting needs to end up being able to be used and transformed well."
"So, what am I gonna do?" Lincoln asked.
"Try again, and again. Until your weapon isn't going to end up being like that." He pointed to the destroyed weapon. "Trust me, you might not like it, but this is how it goes."
The white-haired boy sighed in defeat, as he walked back his way to the table as he began to craft another weapon.
As Lincoln continued to craft more weapons as possible. He struggled his mind and patience to craft a weapon that he can hopefully use so he can finish the second training. He realized that each weapon he made was now considered to be terrible, garbage, and even a defunct. Some weapons like:
A pair of pistols that can form into a sniper rifle with a scope that has a heat signature setting. But unfortunately, the sliding chamber of the pistols were stuck in one place after cocking it. And it can't also form its sniper form when it's stuck in one place.
Another is a weapon is a long mace that looked gladiatorial for its form, and it can also transform into a whip that can let out a wave fire once hit on to the ground. Lincoln was skeptical by the weapon as it looked fine at first. But when he struck its whip mode on the ground, it just sent him flying to training room. He was fine at first, but the weapon ended up being mangled and busted.
Another weapon he made is a rifle that also shoots out rusting bullets, which can literally rust anything into little pieces, or just cracks. Lincoln made the first shot, as it made a successful shot on a target, which is now completely rusted. At first, Lincoln was surprised by the process, but his smile dropped when realized that the weapon itself rusted on its hands once he pulled the trigger, it was a shame that he didn't even used the staff form.
"Okay. Maybe. Just maybe! This next weapon can be a running pass." He sighed and hoped to his life and the man in the sky that the next weapons he has now on his hands will work. Both of his weapons are in the form of a baton, which is 30 inches long, and has three lines glowing around it. "So, how can it test it?"
"Well, since the first one was destroyed when it just got rusted, I'm pretty sure you can do well with a test drone." Hudson said, as he and Lincoln are in the training room. The fighting dummy was in front of Lincoln.
The white-haired boy in training was hesitant to test the new weapons he has. He was also scared that in his mind, it'll just blow up or get easily destroyed. He was never sure if he was ready, but he has to do something right now, or he will be stuck step two of his training.
Gulping down, Lincoln gripped the baton, and struck the drone with great force. To his surprise, he thought it'll blew up, but it didn't. It just did some damage on the drone. "Woah, it didn't blow up. Great! So far, so good. I wonder if I set its stun to level three."
He pondered as he pulled down a lock, which looks like a revolver's hammer, as it charged up. The baton now started to glow from it's setting. Lincoln struck the drone again with the same force, but was left stunned which made it malfunction. "Woah…I can't even believe it works in level three stun."
He even remembered about the second option. He noticed a bottle of water from afar from where he's standing. Pulling the hammer down where it can be touched by the handle, Lincoln grappled the bottle in its grappling hook setting, but the bottle itself hit somewhere else.
"This is it!" Lincoln was relieved that the weapon he made from all the others didn't fail this time. "I can't believe it worked! These two finally worked."
"Good job. You already passed step two." Hudson declared. "Last thing you need to do is to give it a name. That way, you can remember your weapon from its name, and not by what's it's called."
Lincoln pondered to his mind what to call his weapons. Based from the test results that he did on to his weapons, he finally gave out a clever, better, and suiting name. "Boom Sticks."
"Alright. You finally passed. For real now. Even it wasn't a two-in-one type, it still counts." Hudson declared again, to Lincoln's relief.
Relived that the weapon he made wasn't a reject from the two-in-one types, like the rest and Hudson's. Even it wasn't a two-in-one weapon, it's still by far the only thing he can make. "But again, there will be a time where you'll have to upgrade them. So, whatever you do, don't leave them destroyed, you have to repair them every time."
"Understood." Lincoln said, he took it as a mental note.
STEP THREE: CRIME PREVENTING AND VIGILANTE LESSONS
The last part in his training that was saved for last; how to deal with crime, and how to be a vigilante. The vigilante part isn't about fighting and weapons, but it's also where he needs to know how to be a one, like a hero. The crime part is also an importance, since it will be his part time job once he's done with entire training.
"So, the last training is just me… to learn how stop crime and being a hero?" Lincoln asked, who is seated on his chair, while Hudson is in front, standing beside a whiteboard.
"Yep." He answered. "This will be the last step in your three-course training. Crime stopping and vigilante knowledge are actually not the same thing in the society filled with heroes." He pointed to a writing with the same thing he said. "First of all, let's start off to the crime part. Basically, you don't know anything about stopping crime, unless it's a teacher from a hero program, then they'll teach a lot. But you only need to a few of them."
He flipped over the blackboard which is all the right answers to everything Lincoln needs to know. "One pro in stopping crime you need to know, is that have you to act, behave, and think like a criminal." He pointed to the ones he said on the blackboard. "This is the only thing you need to know about stopping crime. Try going in their hideouts, like alleyways or warehouse. Anything that looks dangerous and illegal. And, you have to observe how they're going to plan their moves."
"Okay, that makes sense." Lincoln said.
"And in case if you're going to convince the police to trust you so you can make your life easy, that won't work. That's a con." He made encircled the words 'police + siding them = trust', and crossing the word 'trust' on it. "This is a bad flaw for a vigilante. Vigilantes put the law in their hands, for a good reason. They even have a huge grudge on them since they always try hard, thinking that they look like sitting ducks, but they just fail in stopping crooks and thieves out there. But it could necessary in the future, or if it's in the right time."
"That could explain the corrupted justice system." Lincoln added.
"Maybe. Or they just don't have the best cops out there." Hudson said. He wrote down the word 'vigilante' in the clean part of the blackboard. "Now this is very important in your life. Being a vigilante. Like I said earlier, vigilantes are the exact opposite from heroes. You have to be a protector, a guardian to the city. Get here I'm going here?"
"Yeah, I do." Lincoln responded. "But why's this important?"
He continued to write something on the blackboard, and he stopped as he pointed to what he wrote. "Being a vigilante needs to have some responsibilities and discipline. You need to follow the rules. It doesn't make you above the law than regular law enforcement, but as long as you're on the right track, then you're really are following the rules."
He pointed to another writing at the upper right. "Being a role model is also an important role of being a vigilante. Even if you won't receive a lot of interests or good criticism from the public, you still need to have some heroism. And you need to carry out that heroism part instead of hiding in the shadows. You also need to spray a positive message that gives people what you are trying to do for the city."
"Discipline and responsibility." Lincoln muttered under his breath. At least he was paying attention. "Is that all? Not to be rude, I was just asking, that's all."
"Yep. That's all alright." Hudson answered, as he ended the last lesson.
"Man… I learned so much about this vigilante stuff. I feel like I'm ready." Lincoln said, who really learned. "Can't wait to tell this to everyone at school, even my family." He said as he headed off to get his bag, but he was grabbed from his shoulders, stopping him.
"Not so fast, kid." Hudson instructed. "I made a mistake. We're not yet done."
"Wait. I taught you said we're done with the whole training part." Lincoln stated, reminding about what he said earlier.
"Yeah, that's what I said. But again, I feel like we're almost forgetting something." Hudson went back to the blackboard, and wrote a word on the middle, but all capitalized. "After what you said about telling everyone what you just did in your weekend. Then I have to teach the most important part; Identity."
"Identities are a very important part to the life of being a vigilante." He stated. "Let's say you just stopped a crime scene, and everyone noticed this. You'll somehow start telling everyone that you are a vigilante. That will lead to everyone spreading the news about your secret identity. Which means criminals won't take you seriously, your family and friends will have to keep judging you about you, and the worst part is, the police will have to keep an eye on you, or will just have to arrest you instead."
Lincoln grew pale about the whole explanation on identities. If he would to tell everyone that put him down, which includes his two of his close friends and family, then he will most likely imagine the worse thing possible. He wanted to convince everyone after this, but he knew exactly what would be the consequences if he ever does so.
"Your identity will be a risk in your life; both regular and secret. Even if it's your family and friends or anyone you trust, you should never tell them, or anyone, who you really are. And, if you're going to ever go out and be a vigilante, you have to put in a different persona, so anyone that you know won't get suspicious about it." He ended.
"Wow. I… I didn't know that part would be very important." Lincoln was confused, but he recalled from what Hudson explained.
"Well, trust me, kid. It gets harder for you to ever be one, but you'll get the hang of it." Hudson reassured. "Remember, this isn't something you trained for because you were forced to. You trained to this do this, to protect your city. Your home. And the people you care."
Lincoln wasn't really sure about the last part he all said. If it means by hiding himself in the shadows just to protect the city from crime, then he must do all he can to prevent anyone to get harm.
"I get it. I really do." Lincoln admitted. "Which is why I'll never forget the whole reason why I'm here. I won't let this all this opportunity go down to waste. I'll protect this city, no matter what." He proudly said. Spoken like a true vigilante.
"Good. That's exactly what a real vigilante would say." Hudson said, with a proud tone. "Okay, not gonna lie, but this is now, the end of your training. You did well, kid. Now, all you have to do is to keep doing this until two weeks. Can you manage that?"
"Yeah, I can." Lincoln agreed. "I want to fully train myself before I got out there."
Hudson nod his head in response. "Good. Will end here for now. You can head home."
During his two weeks of training with Hudson, Lincoln was training at his best so he can go out and fight crime from all the lesson that he was given. At school, Lincoln was given a permission to cut class so he can practice his fighting and weapon skills. At home, he made an excuse that he needed to go out and spend some errands, which is understandable from his parents since his growing up, which is what use as an advantage to meet Hudson at the Black Bunker.
Throughout his training, the white-haired boy learned how to defeat a group of criminals all by himself by using the entire fighting skills he learned, followed by a set of practices on how to properly use his Boom Sticks while in combat. Later, he learned how to fight with his weapons, and they were improved slightly, but smoothly. Sometimes after training, he practiced himself how to properly use the grappling hook setting on his batons.
At night, in the Black Bunker, Lincoln came inside the main room while Hudson was busy searching something with the main computer. "Uh… knock, knock."
"Good, you're here." Hudson said. "Just in time, too. You remembered the costume I told you."
"Yeah. I got rid of it, so I decided to make some changes. I managed to find some old stuff that I use, and I made my own mask. Just like what you said." Lincoln explained. "Well, except the mask part."
"Alright. Sorry if I didn't teach you about the costume stuff during the training, but we'll go to that later once you're done with something." He said as looked back to the main computer. "For your first task after the end of the training, you're going to have to stop some criminals. I even send you a message."
"Heh. I knew this would be the day I would do some action." Lincoln smiled, as he was determined for his task. "So, who am I stopping tonight?"
Well, I haven't checked yet while you were out, but - " Suddenly, the main computer let out a sound, and Hudson went back to check it. "Never mind, the computer managed to find you one." he read the information from the computer. "It's says here a group of armed robbers are heading their way to a warehouse at Bailey Avenue. Kinda sounds a bit too much, but are you ready for this?"
Lincoln grabbed he mask from his bag. "Yeah, I'm ready." He said with full determination.
And the start of the Lincoln's first solo vigilante mission arrives. Wow, this was a long chapter that I wrote so far. And I really had fun doing this. It took a lot pressure to make some wrongs here and there, but it was worth it. I want to take NiteOwl18, Pirohiko-Balthazar, and Dante Watterson for assisting me with the story with some suggestions. Also, heads up, this story will be rated T for some of it's action and the upcoming chapters. Anyway, please leave a review, and I'll see you in the next chapter.
