Poll: Whose is the best character in Dynamic? Vote Now! |
![]() Author has written 49 stories for Young Justice, Batman, Ouran High School Host Club, Pokémon, DC Superheroes, Big Hero 6, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Steven Universe, Harry Potter, Naruto, Sleeping Beauty, Star Wars, Evangelion, Guardians of the Galaxy, Moana, X-overs, Ranma, Avengers, and OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes. Hello future writers of the universe! Enter: Greensword101 Funny thing about this name is that it was not originally meant to be a shout out to Star Wars (I'm more of an average fan), but it was for the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, one of my favorite films. Why did I choose that name? At the time, I thought it would sound cool starting out, but the focus on the Green Sword of Destiny had to have meant something? I guess its for the same reason I am using this site in the first place, taking control of my desire and channeling it. Like many people on this site, I want to be a writer. But, I try being realistic and know that it might just be something on the side. Like the sword in the movie, it would be too dangerous to focus on that aspect all the time with little regard for my future. Gender: Male Real Name: Sorry, not telling. Paranoid about having people stalk me on the Internet... Age: "Old enough to have a marriage end and not wind up in a mental hospital." Tiffany. Silver Linings Playbook (2012). Well...college age is vague enough to say. I also have an account on TV Tropes with the same username, and I am still learning things such as creating pages, since there are fanfics that deserve their own pages that I have read but never written. My style for storytelling has developed since I first started on this site; at this point, I lean towards writing realistically, so expect my more recent work to be borderline deconstructions. Characters are going to avoid being flat if they can help it, though I wouldn't lost much sleep over people who are only in a scene or two. Mary Sues, Canon Sues and God Sues are the enemies of writers everywhere, so I will never try making one character look good when they actually don't look that way. But I will make fun of them when possible. :) Demonizing a character just because you don't like them isn't good writing; I acknowledge Ron Weasley's flaws while not ignoring his virtues and would like to remind everyone that making him an evil character in your stories just because you hate him doesn't make you any better than the redhead. Making Dumbledore a person who simply justifies every one of his actions with "For The Greater Good" is simply annoying. If you want him to be the villain, don't make him delusional. Make him entertaining. Make him complex. JUST STOP WRITING "For The Greater Good" IN HIS NARRATIVES! Also, if Molly Weasley was only after Harry Potter for his money, then why would she refuse any gold offered by him? The books suggest that Harry DID in fact try splitting half of his money with the Weasleys, only to be rebuffed. And Snape isn't going to like Harry any better if he were a Slytherin, he had seven years to acknowledge that the kid was also Lily's son, which shows what a mature and reasonable character he is. I was being sarcastic, in case you missed the italics. Faery Heroes, is, admittedly a story I have on my favorites list that has character bashing. It doesn't mean I enjoy the bashing, but it was in small doses for the most part, which allowed me to enjoy the fic itself. So if there is a story that has bashing and I might like it, it will be because the characterization is interesting or because it is in small doses. Plus, it is a guilty-pleasure simply because the heroes are robbing DEATH EATERS! How much more entertainment can you get beyond that?! Here are a few things that I try to keep in mind when I try to create stories regarding pairings or want to read one online: 1. Torture Porn is not a style I feel comfortable reading or writing, only fair to warn you. Seeing a character that is usually depicted as a hero and strong being tormented just for the sake of being tortured is just infuriating to me. Having the victim NOT do their own rescuing or standing up to their abuser is even worse. It shows no sense of character development and is also overused. Bully fics or having abusive backstories are subcategories to this. 2. The stories that I read or want to make have to sound like they do in their source material. An example would be keeping all characters if they are from a book, TV show, or comic book in character. For Batman, that means no crying and not smiling too much (because he's Batman.) For Deathstroke (or as many people remember from Teen Titans, Slade) that does not equal apprentice tales (which could arguably be another form of torture porn), but rather him being manipulative or simply focusing on the next target. 3. Some fluff bunnies are allowed, as long as they do not make my eyes puffy from irritation (both a joke and a statement as I'm allergic to rabbits unfortunately). This could include one-shots or drabbles, but my list is narrow, as they tend to sound similar to one another unfortunately. Of Flying Robins is an example of something I like checking out from time to time. If there are suggestions for me writing drabbles, give me as many details as you can so I'll have something to work with. If people want me to write DaddyBats stories, I will try to keep it in character without being over-dramatic. Feel free to PM me at anytime as I enjoy interactions. 4. My stance on pairings has changed a bit and become more flexible. So, while I will be more tolerant over some suggested pairings, they have to fit four criteria. One: The chemistry has to make sense and there is enough room from canon for sexuality to be interpreted differently (this means Harry/Snape, Harry/Voldemort, Harry/Draco, Batman/Joker, etc. are not going to be written because a dynamic exists within canon that cannot allow for the pairings). An example would be Tadashi Hamada, from Big Hero 6. Because we don't get to know a lot about him, we as creative writers have a lot of room to work with regarding who he is paired with (except for Hiro, as he is Tadashi's underage brother and Baymax, since he is technically Tadashi's son.) One could interpret his relationship with Robert Callaghan to be one of love rather than seeing the man as a father figure. Two: The pairing in question can NOT be related to one another, biologically or through adoption. That includes Bruce/Dick, Barry/Wally, Hiro/Tadashi, etc. Otherwise, the relationship comes off damaged, messed up, and overall just wrong. Three: If it is meant to be more than just love, anything that POTENTIALLY happens has to be between two adults, no Underage business. Then anything beyond that would be statuary rape. I don't care how well developed a romance is between two people if one of them is under the age of consent in the U.S., sex in that scenario will automatically be statuary rape. Four: The most important thing to note is that the pairing cannot be forced on and be consensual, otherwise, the pairing feels wrong and sets up a bad example for what love is supposed to be like. If you want a Sladin fic (Slade/Robin), find one that does not have Slade assaulting Robin without permission, I don't care if you read 50 Shades of Gray, if one or both sides don't agree in the beginning, then it will be rape. My story, "We Love Our Two Dads" is NOT a slash story, in case people are wondering. Simply a reference to the hilarity that comes from taking a friendship and applying it in the wrong context. My view on the World's Finest is that of a tense relationship between brothers who care about one another deep down. Bruce is the nerd overlooked by the father in favor of Clark, the High School quarterback (metaphorically speaking), so jealousy gets in the way of a good brotherly relationship. Plus...I doubt they would be able to do much considering how the Man of Steel is...basically steel. Either he has to practice extreme caution during intense moments or Lois is tougher than she appears. Or Kryptonite. That would be another reason, too. Maybe I should write a fic with that scenario... Challenge 1: 7 is the Luckiest Wizard Number Voldemort doesn't turn Nagini into a Horcrux and places it somewhere on an artifact of Gryffindor lost to time, so he doesn't die at the end of The Deathly Hallows, instead using the last bit of life force he has and attaches it to the first person that comes his way. It takes five years for Voldemort to make himself known to the Wizardry World under a different name. Harry is unable to detect the Dark Lord since the Horcrux on his scar was removed and is forced to rely on his own skills and luck this time around to locate his arch nemesis and his new host to stop the madness from ever returning. Thankfully, he is not alone. He is only allowed six allies, as seven is the luckiest wizard number, and they can be friends from the Order, classmates his year or above that have survived the Battle of Hogwarts. Even magical creatures like Winky, Kreacher or Firenze could become his companions. Peeves is an option, too, but he will be more of a neutral character since he serves no master but the Bloody Baron. Muggles are allowed, Dudley can choose to help as a way to make amends with Harry and Mr. and Mrs. Granger could join too can join as long as they remain in character and develop overtime. Draco Malfoy is an option, but he and Harry are going to be on frosty terms on account of Draco being a former Death Eater. Even Narcissa can be an ally, but her relationship is only slightly better than her son's since she saved Harry's life. No OCs, for reasons based on pairings and risk of Mary Sues. Any use of an OC as an ally is an automatic failure. Sorry. Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny, and Luna are welcome additions since they've been through the most with Harry. Harry can chose all five as his companions in his journey to stop the Dark Lord once and for all as long as a sixth additional member is among them. No bashing or good!Death Eaters are allowed and pairings are to follow: Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Neville/Luna or Neville/Hannah if you want to explore their relationship further where JK Rowling might have. Dumbledore isn't going to be revealed as some monster, but his flaws and virtues must be acknowledged. He is still a good guy in the end, after all. Harems aren't allowed if there are canon pairings that prevent this. Each companion is capable of awesome moments within logical and canonical reason. No Lord or Lady titles, either. Mary Sues, God Sues, etc. are not allowed. That means the Elder Wand is forbidden for fear that its loyalty will fall to the wrong hands. Lemons are not allowed and gratuitous rape or incest is forbidden for fear of failing the challenge. Subplots are welcome; the seven heroes will be following a trail of breadcrumbs after all. The (first) Three Laws of Fanfiction: Rule One: If you do anything to increase the protagonist's power, or make their life easier, you must also amplify their opponent or add extra difficulties to their life. You can't make Frodo a Jedi unless you give Sauron the Death Star. Otherwise, even if it is well-written in all other ways, your story will suck because the reader will know to expect an unending string of easy victories, leading them to neither wonder or care about what happens next. The Mary Sue is not defined by her power being too strong, but by her challenges being too easily overcome. Rule Two: Originality isn't easy, but it is simple: Just don't do stuff that's already been done. Even if all of your other characters are going to be absolutely true to canon, you still shouldn't have Harry Potter facing the same three challenges in the Triwizard Tournament because we've already read about them a thousand times. Put in three differentchallenges. Seriously. It can't hurt. Don't just go through the same events everyone has read about a thousand times before. Writing fanfiction lets you borrow the characters and the world; it doesn't exempt you from needing to surprise the readers and give them something new to read. Rule Three: The premise of a story is a conflict and its resolution - someone with a goal, which they take action to achieve, and severe obstacles that they must replan to deal with (not just speedbumps along the way), and some ultimate resolution of the conflict in which the people and their situation have changed. "What happens if the Terminator is sent back in time to kill Voldemort" is not a story premise, just a fleeting mental image. "What happens if Harry Potter is under constant attack by shape-changing robot assassins" is still not enough of a premise. "Harry Potter is under constant attack by shape-changing assassins, and by the time he manages a spell to wall off the future he's already learned not to trust anyone" could maybe be a story's premise (though you wouldn't put that in the summary, or tell any reader that until the story had ended). You can change this plan later - but you should at least have one to start with. So if you have a lovely mental image of Frodo with a lightsaber: 1. Figure out how to make his life more difficult, to make up for the lightsaber. 2. Decide what's going to happen differently in your fanfiction than in the other ones you've read. 3. Know what Frodo wants and what's going to get in his way, and have a plan for how it will all end. I have heard this story before in CCD, but seeing this again, I decided to post it on my page. One day a dad comes home drunk and mad. He pulls out a gun and shoot his wife and then turns the gun on himself. His little girl sits behind the couch, crying. The police came and took the little girl to a new family. Her first day to Sunday school she walks to the building and sees a picture of Jesus on the cross. The little girl asks the teacher. "How did the man get off the cross?" The Teacher replied: "He never did" The little Girl argued: "Yes he did, the night mommy and daddy died he sat behind the couch with me and telling me everything was gonna be alright." 66% of you wont post this on your profile. But remember the bible says "Deny me in front of your friends and I will deny you in front of my father.' Post this on your profile. Because I already did my part. Now It Is Your Turn This is something I found on Hex Enchantress' page. Please read it and spread the word. I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back. The boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old. The Cashier said, "I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll." Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ''Granny, are you sure I don't have enough money?'' The old lady replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.'' Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look a round. She left quickly. The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. "It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas. She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her." I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. "No, Santa Claus can't bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there." His eyes were so sad while saying this. "My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.'' My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: "I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall." Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me "I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won't forget me. I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister." Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. "Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?'' "OK" he said, "I hope I do have enough." I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: "Thank you God for giving me enough money!" Then he looked at me and added, "I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me! I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.'' "My mommy loves white roses." A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him. Now you have 2 choices: 1) Repost this message, or 2) Ignore it as if it never touched your heart This next one is about judging others, don't be so harsh to a stranger. The term, "never judge a book by its cover" exists for a reason. A 15 year old girl holds hands with her 1 year old son. People call her a slut. No-one knows she was raped at 13. People call a girl fat. No-one knows she has a serious disease which causes her to be over weight. People call an old man ugly. No-one knows he had a serious injury to his face while fighting for our country in the war. Repost this if you're against bullying and stereotyping. 95% of you won't. " Notes: We Love Our Two Dads, I admit, while one of my most popular fics so far, isn't great with some of the characters (mainly Superboy) so I apologize in advance for what may appear to be a lack of consistency with characters and a sense of plot, it was just written for laughs. If I was writing the story now, I would have done it differently. Notes for Warning Shot: If you're reading this, then you're probably trying to figure out why one of my Young Justice stories is gone. The answer: I am retracting it for the time to focus on other stories and it has been neglected a little too much to continue. At this point, people must have moved on when I didn't update as religiously as they would like. Please note: It will return. Once my plate is cleaned up a little, I can focus more energy on Warning Shot and tell a story I want to tell when my brain is more organized. I'm sorry for the sudden absence of it, do not worry. Stories for the Future: Gained in Translation: (Big Hero 6/Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover.) Chosen to pilot an EVA, Hiro travels to Japan with only Baymax as a companion. The problem? He can't speak Japanese. As he tries to connect with the Children, Hiro learns that sometimes, some things can be gained through blunders in communication. Rejecting the Gems (Those Cost Something): (Steven Universe) Instead of training to be a Crystal Gem, Steven Universe goes to school, makes friends, and listens to his dad talk about his days before owning his car wash. But, what is with those weird looking humans? And what is the mystery behind the gem where his bellybutton should be? Harry Potter and the Legacy of Merlin: (Harry Potter) Harry ends up in Slytherin. Instead of pushing him away, Ron and his brothers choose to remain his friends. There's got to be more to being a Slytherin than what Hagrid said, right? Maybe learning about Slytherin's greatest wizard, Merlin, will help... Warning Shot: (Young Justice) Artemis sets off a chain of events by catching her sister on her first mission. But even that doesn't help her bond with the Team. With the League of Shadows down a member and the Team's dynamics altered, is every girl for herself the way to go? That Damn Weasley!: (Harry Potter) Everything was going well at Hogwarts for Ron, until his two best friends start treating him worse than Malfoy in the middle of their 5th year. And why the bloody hell are they expecting the teachers to trust them without question?! (Big Hero 6/Neon Genesis crossover): "Aunt Cass?" Hiro whispered. He held up a letter, with only two words on it: Come. Father. Cass felt her blood run cold. Hiro looked at her with an empty gaze, "Didn't Dad die with Mom when I was 3?" Fanart: Surprisingly, someone did a piece for the first chapter of Do You Mind?, and portrayed it better than I did. The piece is on Tumblr, under the account of . They did it back in January and I kept forgetting to let you all know that because of school and because I am occasionally forgetful. They also have an account on this site, as well, under the name of Elnora. Elnora, if you're reading this, I thank you again for the lovely piece and apologize for not letting everyone else know about it sooner. |
