Hawkmoth and Mayura landed in their hideout, the butterflies around them scattering. Hawkmoth pushed a button on his cane, causing a podium to rise through the floor, which he placed the Miracle Box on.
"Finally," Hawkmoth growled. Mayura walked up behind him, placing her hand on his back to watch his achievement. "After all of this time! Finally! Finally! I can bring her back. I can fix everything!"
He felt Mayura remove her hand from his back but he did not turn around, focused solely on the box in front of him.
"With the Ladybug Miraculous, I can fix the damage done by the last akuma and get Chat Noir's miraculous!"
He began pressing buttons, opening each compartment, looking at all the miraculous at his disposal. Truly, he had infinite power. He placed the bee miraculous back in its rightful place before turning to the last button. The spot for Ladybug and Chat Noir's miraculous. Hawkmoth grinned evilly as he pressed the button, relishing the sight of it opening.
Only to reveal nothing there.
"What," he yelled. "Where is it?!"
"Maybe check the box next time!"
Hawkmoth turned sharply to see Ladybug standing behind him. No. Not Ladybug. Chloé Bourgeois as Ladybug. She had her yo-yo ready in her hand and Hawkmoth could see Nathalie on the ground behind her, knocked out. Chloé had beaten her and taken her miraculous and he hadn't even noticed!
"Whoops! My mistake! There won't be a next time! You're going down Dick-Moth!"
Hawkmoth ground his teeth together in anger before reaching for his cane, ready to attack her. He seemed to get an idea before he did, turning for the Miracle Box. Chloé quickly flung her yo-yo towards it, catching it and pulling it back towards her before he could lay a hand on it.
"Sorry, Uncle Gabe. No cheating! This is between you and me! Nothing else!"
"Don't be so sure about that."
Chloé heard the sound of something incoming and then took a step back as Infini came bursting in through the glass to stand next to Hawkmoth.
"That's Chloé Bourgeois," Hawkmoth yelled at his akuma, pointing an angry finger at Chloé. "Take her miraculous and she'll be all yours!"
"Gladly, Hawkmoth!"
The akuma of pure white came running at her, a giant white sword materializing for him to use. Chloé quickly dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding becoming mince meat. Infini yelled as he swung his sword at her again, this time missing her by a mile. He was getting sloppy.
Chloé realized that this was the longest that Hawkmoth had ever held an akuma before. And while he didn't have a super short amount of time like she did, he still had his limits. And he was pushing them. Speaking of, she turned to look for him only to see him going for the Miracle Box. Chloé dove over towards the box, curling her body around it and skidding away.
"What did I just say?!"
Hawkmoth grabbed the box in her hands, trying to pull it away from her.
"Give it here!"
"No I found it! Finders keepers!"
Chloé gasped as she felt someone grab her from behind and looked up to see Infini was behind her, pulling on her body so that Hawkmoth could take the box easier. She felt her grip loosen and she realized she had to do something. She noticed that Infini did not have a hold of her feet. Chloé took a step back before doing a back flip, letting her heeled boots hit Hawkmoth in the chin and then come down on Infini's head behind her. She landed cleanly on the ground and wasted no time in launching the Miracle Box out of Hawkmoth's reach before using her yo-yo to grab Hawkmoth by the feet.
Using the same move she used on Infini earlier, she swung him across the room, using his body to hit the akuma. They both went slamming into a wall. As Gabriel and Infini struggled to get up, Chloé thought this was as good a time as any to use her power.
"Lucky Charm!"
Chloé looked up and caught a falling stainless steel pot and it's lid, both covered in red with black polka dots.
"What the hell am I going to do? Make them soup?!"
Her attention was pulled elsewhere as she saw Hawkmoth running for the Miracle Box again. He had it in his hands but Chloé used her yo-yo to knock it out of them. They both dove for it, grappling for the box on the floor. They rolled around, pushing and shoving and pulling hair like five year olds.
"Gotcha," they both yelled but they were both wrong. The momentum from their hands pushed the Miracle Box into the air and straight out of the hole that Infini created when he burst into the lair.
"Shit," Chloé yelled.
"No," Hawkmoth exclaimed. They glared at one another before trying to push themselves off the ground, being constantly pulled down by the other. At one point, Hawkmoth managed to stand and take a full step before Chloé grabbed his feet again and pulled him to the ground. Getting tired of the childish fighting, Chloé simply used her yo-yo to swing out of the gaping hole in the wall, landing on the grass outside.
She scanned the area, trying to find where the Miracle Box had landed. She had barely been searching for a few seconds before she was knocked to the ground by Hawkmoth, the pot and lid falling out of her hands.
He kicked her once in her side before she grabbed his foot once again and shoved it upwards, causing him to fall down. She grabbed the pot and lid before continuing to search for the Miracle Box. As she ran through a bush, she spotted it but as she leaned to get it, the pot fell out of her hands and pushed the Miracle Box into the street.
"Geez, Tikki, you couldn't give me a suit with literally anything to hold this stupid thing with?!"
Quickly, Chloé jury-rigged a backpack using her yo-yo to tie the pot to the flat of her back. She then chased after the Miracle Box. She stepped into the road to grab the box but it was pushed further away by someone running over it with their car.
She heard a grunt and turned to see Hawkmoth running straight into traffic to grab the box, ignoring her completely. Chloé began looking around frantically, searching for a way to use her Lucky Charm. She never had good ideas like Ladybug.
She panicked when she saw a truck speeding toward Hawkmoth. He didn't notice, he was too focused on the Miracle Box.
"Gabriel," Chloé shouted, swinging her yo-yo at him and pulling him out of the way.
"You little-"
"You're going to get yourself killed," Chloé snapped at him. "Do you think Adrien wants his dad dead?!"
"Get away from me," Hawkmoth yelled and shoved Chloé away from him, turning his attention back to the Miracle Box in the road. He'd gone crazy, only wanting the box and nothing else. It didn't even matter if it killed him in the process. She needed to figure out how to use the Lucky Charm now.
She heard shifting and turned around to see Infini holding his head, stepping towards the hole in the mansion. He glowed red with black spots in Chloé's vision. She looked back toward Hawkmoth, seeing him, a nearby lamppost and the Miracle Box glow too. She heard the honk of an oncoming truck, seeing that light up in her mind. Adding her Lucky Charm into the mix, it hit her.
She did it. She came up with a plan. She took her Lucky Charm in one hand and yo-yo in the other. She flung her yo-yo towards the truck, it smashed through the driver's window and pushed the steering wheel so the truck shot towards the Miracle Box. It hit it, causing the red thing to go flying into the air towards her, and Hawkmoth followed.
Chloé threw her red and black pot up into the air and it hit the Miracle Box like pool balls. The two items came tumbling down and Hawkmoth grabbed one and Chloé grabbed the other.
"I got it! Nice try," Hawkmoth sneered. Chloé smirked and then tossed the Miracle Box up in front of her and caught it again. Hawkmoth looked down, seeing he had the pot in his hands. He had confused the two since they both were the same shape and pattern. Without giving him any second of hesitation, Chloé began wrapping her yo-yo string around him and the nearby lamppost, leaving the Miracle Box on the ground.
"Infini," Gabriel called and the akuma responded, coming closer. Perfect. Chloé jumped off of the ground, letting her yo-yo continue to spin around Gabriel, propelling her around him in a circle. Once she had picked up enough speed, she let go of her yo-yo, grabbed the pot out of Hawkmoth's hands and went flying towards Infini with an open pot outstretched.
She tore right through him, catching the flower in the pot and sealing it shut. She emerged on the other side of him, doing a roll into the grass where she tore the flower in half and caught the akuma in the pot, sealing it in there until she could retrieve her yo-yo.
She watched the akuma turn back into the boy she had met the previous day.
"What am I doing here? What day is it," he asked.
"I'm so sorry about what happened," Chloé told him as she bent down to where he was on the lawn. "You were akumatized. It was my fault. I promise, it won't happen ever again."
She offered him a smile and he quickly returned it, becoming red in the process.
"Oh, um, it's no big deal."
"Maybe after this, we can be friends?"
His eyes widened and she could tell he was trying to hide his excitement.
"Yeah! That would be great!"
Chloé smiled again before turning her eyes to Hawkmoth. He was struggling to break free from her yo-yo with no luck. She reached onto his chest and removed the miraculous, watching him transform back into Gabriel Agreste.
"You won't get away with this," Gabriel spat at her.
"No, Gabriel. You won't get away with this. You terrorized all of Paris for years and treated Adrien like garbage. I will make sure that you end up in prison for the rest of your life."
"Is that a threat?"
"No," Chloé said evenly. "It's a promise."
Gabriel's eyes widened when he looked into Chloé's. He could see all sorts of hatred and anger pooling there, and he knew that without a doubt, she was right.
Chloé heard rambling behind her and turned around to see police and reporters stepping up. She freed Gabriel Agreste from her yo-yo and then grabbed him by the wrists, escorting him to Sabrina's dad.
"Who are you? What is this," he asked. Chloé looked around at the reporters, making sure all of them were focused on her.
"Gabriel Agreste is Hawkmoth. His assistant Nathalie Sancoeur is his partner, Mayura. If you don't believe me, you will find Hawkmoth's layer right there," she pointed at the hole in the mansion, "And his miraculous, is right here," she held it up for everyone to see. Sabrina's dad nodded, taking Gabriel from her and putting him in handcuffs. Chloé walked over to the pot and released the akuma, watching it flutter into the air.
She pulled her yo-yo out, opening it with her finger and throwing it to catch the butterfly.
"Time's up, little akuma! Time to de-evilize!"
She opened up the yo-yo watching a beautiful white butterfly float out. She picked up her Lucky Charm and bit her lip.
"Please work. Miraculous Ladybug!"
The magic ladybugs flew around the city, returning everything back to the way it was. Hopefully they were bringing Marinette and Adrien back too. Chloé picked up the Miracle Box and went to swing away before she was stopped by Alya.
"Who are you?"
Chloé turned and looked at herself in the camera that Alya had facing her. She could see her suit. She hadn't had the chance to look at it earlier. It looked like her new bee suit, the same cut around the shoulders and legs. Except all the yellow was replaced by red with black polka dots and instead of the usual stripes, there was only a black band around her ribcage and a wide one around her waist. She had done it. She had finally become everything that she ever wanted. She had become like Ladybug. But she wasn't Ladybug at all.
And for the first time, she was glad.
The name Lady Luck ran through her head. She would be another new hero for Paris. The name would go down in history as the hero who defeated Paris's worst domestic terrorist and supervillain.
Chloé looked into the camera and smiled sadly.
"I'm Ladybug. The one and only."
She turned away from Alya and swung away, heading towards the Dupain-Cheng bakery.
She landed on Marinette's roof, opened the hatch and crawled inside. She found the place where the box had been hidden before and put it back.
"Tikki, spots off."
She felt herself de-transform and held out her hands to catch the falling kwami.
"Thank you," Chloé told the kwami as she set her down and took the earrings off.
"No, thank you, Chloé. You've proven yourself a true hero."
Chloé smiled solemnly as she put the earrings back in the box, watching Tikki disappear. She made sure the Miracle Box was hidden before she stepped downstairs and left the bakery where she was immediately arrested for theft.
