At the moment:

- On the Way to Greatness by MiraMirth

In my opinion the best and most realistic 'Harry Potter is a Slytherin' story. There are always a few months between updates, but it is not abandoned.

- C'est La Vie by cywscross

My absolute favourite 'Harry travels to another Universe' story. Very well written, features a ruthless and clever Harry. Around 100 000 words, last updated May 2013. I really hope it's not abandoned.

- Circular Reasnoning by swimdraconian

Favourite 'adult Harry goes back in in time and lives his life a second time' story. Quite dark with a war-ridden Harry. Updates quite sporadic. Around 180 000 words since 2005, but not abandoned I think. (Last updated in March 2014)

There are a lot of other stories I love, but those are the first few that came to my mind. Don't take my favourites list too seriously. I generally favourite everything I want to take a look at later.

In general:

I like stories where Harry is a strong and independent person. A bit ruthless too.

Oh and dark. Definitely like dark Harry.

I can't stand a constantly depressed Harry.

I don't like character bashing - I think it's unnecessary most of the time.

I think the 'magical oath' is one of the most stupid fanfiction inventions ever. It just doesn't make any sense.

By the way, does anybody know a good Harry Potter / Charmed crossover? I used to love the show when I was like... 12 and would definitely be interested in reading one. For old times sake. Ideally one where Harry finds them after the war, but I'll take anything (somewhat good).

A good Harry/Buffy crossover would be nice too.
