Thanks to Red Eyes, the team was able to secure the final part of the Golden Armor. Professor Hastings had contacted the team sent out to meet them and reported he arrived in Oblivia with backup. Ben, Takumi and their group head back to Rand's house to meet with them...
There was a knock on the door. Nokia hurried and opened it and Ben and the others came pouring into the house. "Finally!" Nokia said. "We were starting to get worried that Red Eyes attacked you!"
"Well, he sotra did." Takumi replied. "But he just wanted a fun rematch. Arata called it right. He's a changed man."
Arata smiled. "Well, good for him."
"Ah, you're here." Prof. Hastings walked over to them.
"Professor Hastings." Ben saluted. "Good to see you got here safely."
"Not easily mind you." The man groaned. "I thought the Dragonite Bus would be smoother than a Staraptor, but I didn't put the fact that there were four of us into account."
"You mean our backup?" Kellyn asked. "Who-
"Kellyn! Keith!" A blond girl in a green uniform and heels hurried over to them.
"Rythmi?!" Kellyn asked.
"You know this girl?" Keisuke asked.
"She's one of our Operators back at the Union!" Kate replied. "She's also a former classmate of me, Kellyn and Keith at Ranger school."
"Yup! Prof. Hastings thought you guys could use an Operator, so he picked me since I'm used to working with you! I was glad I could help you guys out! And I always wanted to see Oblivia!"
Kellyn smiled. "It's good to see you Rythmi."
Kate walked over to them. "Heh. Reminds me of when the four of us met up at the Union. A big class reunion."
"Sure does." Keith nodded. "So, who are the other Ra-ACK!" Suddenly a hand grabbed his collar from behind and he was pulled into a headlock with a fist giving him a noogie. "Ow! Hey! What the- He pulled out and looked behind him to see an older teen in a slightly different Ranger uniform with blue hair and a headband. A Minun stood on his shoulder. "Lunick!? Is that you?!"
The Ranger grinned. "Long time no see Keith!"
"That's quite a weird way to say hello, Lunick." A girl giggled as she walked over. Her Ranger uniform was similar to Lunick's but her shorts were shorter and she wore thigh high stockings. Her blue hair was in a spikey ponytail. On her shoulder was a Plusle.
"Solana, you're here too?!" Keith asked.
"More classmates?" Takumi asked.
"No, I met them while I was stationed at Fiore Region."
"Kellyn mentioned in his report that former members of Go-Rock Squad were part of Team One World." Prof. Hastings explained. "So, I decided to bring the two Rangers that took that team down with me. Lunick Kazuki and Solana Hinata."
Matayoshi smiled. "We've already done most of the introductions. Rythmi, Lunick, Solana, meet Takumi and Keisuke."
"It's a pleasure everyone." Solana smiled before turning to the small Pokemon on her shoulder. "This is my Partner Plusle."
"Plu, plu!"
Lunick held out his arm for his Pokemon to stand on. "And this is mine. Minun."
"Min, min!"
"Pachi!" Kellyn's Pokemon jumped over to where Plusle and Minun hopped over on the floor.
"Pichu!" Ben's Pokemon bounced over to them. He took out his ukulele and played a tune. The other Pokemon bounced around him happily.
Takumi laughed. "Pichu sure is a hit with the Partners."
"Well, they are all Electric Type." Kellyn smiled.
"Anyway, as Matayoshi said I'm Takumi Aiba. One of Kyoko's assistants. And this is my Partner Digimon. Terriermon. Nice to meet you."
"Heya!" Terriermon waved with one of his ears.
"And I'm Keisuke Amasawa. And here's my Partner, Tentomon."
"Hello!" the bug greeted.
"So, these are Digimon too, huh?" Rythmi asked. "They really are like talking Pokemon. How bizarre."
"Is it?" Kellyn asked, looking at the dancing Pokemon. "Pokemon express their feelings as well. Just not with words."
"I guess you're right."
Everyone came into the room. "Welcome back everyone." Kyoko said.
Keisuke noticed Chitose hobbling in pain and whispered to Yu. "Still suffering effects from the coffee?"
"No, he tried flirting with Date while you were gone. As you can see, she didn't like that much. That's fourteen by the way."
"I heard ya obtained the last Golden Armor part." Fei said. "Do ya still have it?"
Ben dropped the helmet onto the floor. "Here it is. Thanks to Red Eyes."
"So, this is what all the fuss is about." Lunick said.
"Thank goodness." Yuugo sighed in relief. "It would be a disaster if Team One World found it first. Now they can't complete the armor."
"But you guys said the parts they do have can still present a threat on their own, right?" Ryuji asked. "It's still too early to celebrate."
"Normally I'd tell you to lighten up and enjoy a little success." Yu said. "But you're not wrong. You saw what three of those parts did to those legendary Pokemon individually after all. And now those parts are together in their hands."
"So, what should we do with this thing?" Keramon asked, pointing to the helmet.
"The sooner it's dealt with the better I say." Monodramon replied.
"Let's smash this hunk of junk into a billion pieces with our new invention Nema!" Calumon said.
The young scientist nodded. "Yeah! The "Hammer-Drill-Scissors Cutter!"
"Wow, that's a mouthful." Chitose muttered.
"Let's have Omnimon smash it!" Nokia said. "A Transcendent Sword here, a Supreme Cannon there and blamo! Problem solved!"
"No, we can't do that, girls." Hastings said as he picked up the helmet. "Even though we will destroy it, we have to take it back to the Ranger Union and research it first. Isn't that right, Summer?"
"Huh? Oh, yes! O-of course!"
"Hold your horses!" Date said. "You want to harness this thing?! Are you kidding me?! You have no idea how dangerous it is!"
"Date, calm down!" Matayoshi yelled. "He said he was going to destroy it. And while I would rather do that as soon as possible we don't know what kind of powers we're dealing with. Doing so now may have negative effects."
"Matayoshi may have a point." Kyoko nodded. "Who's to say we won't create a black hole if we break this and end all life in this world?"
"This lady's imagination is scary…" Solana muttered.
Hastings nodded as he looked at the armor part. "Who's to say she's wrong though? That is why I wish to research it first. Besides this armor may hold decades of knowledge that can serve the better good. That being said, until The Union comes back, we have to store it in a safe place where Team One World can't get it…"
"Oh!" Tokomon bounced. "We have just the thing! Our other new invention!"
Nema's eyes lite up. "Yeah! The "Even-Burglars-Loss-Interest Safe!"
"That's an even bigger mouthful." Patamon muttered. Chitose and Armadillomon nodded.
"If we put it there, it will be safe for sure!"
"Sounds like a plan." Palmon said.
"…I don't know about the name, but for now, I'll have you put it in that safe." Hastings nodded.
Nema, Calumon and Tokomon bounced over to the doorway leading to the lab. "The Even-Burglars-Loss-Interest-Safe is this way!"
"Come on, Professor, bring the armor over!" Calumon said.
The man sighed. "I'm still tired from the trip…"
"Hurry, hurry, hurry!" Nema and her Digimon said, much to the amusement of Hastings' employees.
"Ah, ha, ha. I've heard that line somewhere." The professor laughed as he walked over.
"Now we just need to deal with One World." Kellyn said.
"Having this helmet will make us a target." Yuuko said. "We should keep it a secret as long as we can, but I don't think it will be long before they figure it out."
Takumi then turned to Ryuji. "In the meantime, you wanted to talk to me and Ami?"
"Oh, right." Ryuji said. "Let's go outside. Not everybody needs to hear this."
"Okay." Ami nodded. "We'll be right back guys."
Before Takumi followed Ryuji and Ami out, he whispered to Terriermon. "Once Ryuji comes back inside, try to lure Nokia, Arata, Yuuko and Yuugo outside to join us without anyone else noticing."
"Okay." Terriemron nodded. As Takumi went outside, he waited for everyone to stop paying attention about before jumping onto Arata's shoulder and whispering. Once he was done, Arata whispered to Nokia.
Outside, Ryuji looked around and found a fairly large rock. "That'll do." He then gestured to the two of them. "You two should sit down."
"Ooookay?" Ami gave him a concerning look. "We could have done that inside." She and her brother took a seat. "So, what's this about?"
Ryuji sighed. "I admit, I'm far from the ideal person to tell you this but somebody has to. It's about your mother."
Takumi and Ami were shaken. "Mom…?" Takumi muttered. "Is she okay?"
"Physically speaking she's fine. Emotionally however…I'm sure neither of you will be surprised to hear that she came back home as soon as she got the news on what happened to you. Her boss is really sympathetic towards her and told her to be with you for as long as she needs to."
Ami looked down sadly. "Mom…we're making her worry…"
"But that's not what I wanted to talk to you about. See, before leaving via the ARC System, my team went to the hospital to check out the state of your bodies. Oh, and before you ask, you're all in good shape, so don't worry about that."
"That's a relief I guess." Takumi said thinking back to the first time he and Ami had EDEN Syndrome and saw their own physical bodies in the hospital.
"But when we went over there…I saw you mother."
"You met her?" Ami asked.
"Yes. We were checking out the condition of each of you. Chitose and I were particularly concerned for Matayoshi. We owe the man big time."
"A lot of hackers seem to." Takumi grinned.
Ryuji returned the smirk. "No kidding. But anyway, that's when I saw your mother. She was just staring at your unconscious bodies quietly. I still remember how sad she looked."
Ryuji glanced to the right in the Special Ward where he saw a lone woman staring through the glass. She looked depressed. He slowly walked over and looked at who she was looking at. It was a boy and a girl in two beds next to each other. Both young teens with red hair.
"You know them?"
The woman yelped as she looked at Ryuji. "Goodness, you startled me."
"Sorry."
The woman sighed and looked at the two kids. "They are Takumi and Ami Aiba…my son and daughter…"
Ryuji remembered what Satoru said. About the mother of a son and daughter coming from overseas when she got the news. "I see…I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be. It's my fault. My husband passed away years ago, so I was supposed to take care of them…but my work always kept me away from home. I should have taken them with me…"
Ryuji put a comforting hand on her shoulder as she took out a tissue. "I know I'm in no position to say this but…I think they would be worried if they felt they were keeping you from work."
"I already spoke with my workplace…Takumi and Ami have met them many times since they were little. They all adore those two. My boss included. They told me to stay by their side for as long as I need to…What about you? Are you visiting someone from the incident?"
"Yeah." Ryuji replied, glancing at the rest of his team. "Do you know what the ARC Project was trying to achieve?" Ryuji asked.
"Satoru told me. It's hard to believe my kids are in another world right now…Even with what they do here."
"What do you mean?"
The woman pointed to another bed where another woman with blond hair laid unconscious. "That's Kyoko Kuremi. I was surprised when Takumi and Ami one day told me they were working for a detective."
"At such a young age?"
"I know, right?" the woman smiled. "I was so proud of them when I heard. Of course, I was also very worried. But whenever I checked in on them, they told me they were fine. That Kyoko was always looking out for them when things looked bad. I met her a few times. She's a reliable woman." The mother smiled sadly. "And to be honest…she makes for a better mother for them then me."
Those words shocked Ryuji when he heard that. "What?!"
"She's always looking out for them while I'm gone. She may be all those two really need."
"You can't mean that! You can't say that!"
The woman looked at Ryuji in surprise.
"You think family is something that can simply be replaced?! You can't just give up on your own kids like that!"
"Uh, Ryuji, is something wrong?" Chitose asked. "Maybe you should take a deep breath."
Ryuji looked at the shocked look on the woman's face and sighed. "Sorry."
"…It's fine."
Chitose looked at her then back at Ryuji. "We should probably go."
"…Right." Ryuji's team started leaving the Special Ward. Ryuji himself turned to the woman one last time. "Just because they see their boss more doesn't mean they've forgotten you. Remember that."
Takumi and Ami couldn't hide their shock. "Did…did mom really say that?" Ami asked.
Ryuji nodded. "It wasn't easy to hear. It's like she thinks you resent her for not always being with you."
Takumi stood up. "That's not true! I mean, sure, Kyoko's like family to us, but mom's family too! We know she's only working so much to pay for rent and everything for us!"
"I'm relieved to hear you say that. But I think she's the one who needs to hear it from you two." Takumi and Ami sadly looked at the grass as Ryuji continued. "I'm not the ideal person tell be telling you two to respect your mother. Afterall I've always been a handful for my parents. I don't know what I'd do without them."
"We rely on our mom too." Ami said. "I don't know why she can't see that…"
"You two need to talk to her the next chance you get. To remind her how important she is to you."
"You're right…Thanks Ryuji." Takumi said. "I'll start thinking about what I need to do when we get home."
"Me too." Ami nodded.
The mans smiled. "Good. That's all I wanted to say."
Takumi smiled back. "Hey, can you ask Keisuke to come out here?"
"Keisuke? Oh, this is probably about school, right?"
"…Yes…We've been gone for some time after all..."
"Should I get Yu too?"
"Nah. We just need to talk to Keisuke."
"Alright." Ryuji went back into the house. Nema, the Digimon and the Professor were still gone. But now so was Yu. "They're still at the safe?"
"No, they're checking out Nema's lab." Chitose replied. "Yu and his Digimon also went to take a peek and got themselves hooked. Yu thought it was like being in a secret agent hideout with all the fancy gadgets."
Ryuji chuckled. "I'll never understand that kid. Anyway, Keisuke, Takumi and Ami want a word with you outside."
"Really? Well, okay."
As Keisuke walked towards the door Terriermon nudged Pichu. "Psst! I need you to distract everyone."
"Pi." Pichu winked and jumped onto the table. He started playing his ukulele and dancing, gathering everyone's attention. It wasn't long before other Pokemon and Digimon joined.
Terriemron then nudged Nokia's foot. "Now. Go."
"Huh? Oh, right."
Outside, Keisuke walked over to the twins. "You wanted to talk to me?"
"Yeah. But first let's wait and see if the others join us." Takumi replied.
"Others?"
"Hey." Arata waved as he approached with Nokia, Yuuko and Yuugo. "What do you need us for?"
Takumi looked at Keisuke. "Remember what I said to you earlier? How we're in a similar situation at home? All of us are in that situation."
Keisuke tilted his head. "Ooookay? Care to elaborate?"
"While I was "X" I was intrigued with the close bond you had with Tentomon. So, I followed you guys here and hid in the trees."
"What?"
"Keisuke…I saw you talk with the Digimon out here. I heard you say you remember what happened to our world."
Keisuke's eyes widened. "You heard all that?!"
"Wait hold on a second!" Nokia said. "What's going on?! What's this about?!"
Ami stood up. "Takumi told me. Guys…Keisuke remembers everything. Just like us. The Digimon…the Eaters…all of it."
Everyone went into shock and gasped. "What?!" Yuuko looked at Keisuke. "Is that true?!"
"Wait a second…" Keisuke couldn't believe it. "You guys…you too?"
Takumi nodded. "That's right. We remember the incidents with Digimon coming to our world. In fact, we're the ones responsible for it happening. And the transformation of our world."
Keisuke then remembered. "The "chosen ones" Eri-I mean Hudiemon mentioned…That was you guys?!"
"Chosen ones?" Arata asked raising an eyebrow. "I don't know where that came from but…Yeah, we transformed the world after defeating the Mother Eater."
"Mother Eater?"
"Think of it as the Main Unit of the Eaters."
Takumi sat on the rock. "Ami and I talked about this when I found out. Guys…we decided that we're going to tell Keisuke everything."
"Evreything?" Keisuke asked.
Takumi nodded. "How the Eaters were brought into creation. Why the worlds merged together. You should know."
"Are you sure about this?" Yuugo asked.
Ami nodded. "We know everything. Everyone else knows nothing…except for Keisuke. He knows some things, but not everything. He has no closer and cannot live in ignorance. We decided it's better that he knows all the truth then just some of it."
"…I guess you're right." Yuuko replied. "And now that I think about it…there are probably things about the incident we can learn from Keisuke."
Takumi smiled. "What do you say Keisuke? Trade your story for ours?"
"You have no idea…" Keisuke had the most excited smiled. "You have no idea how long I wanted to talk to somebody about this! Ryuji, Yu, Chitose…none of them remember! I had to keep this to myself the entire time! And now I can finally talk to somebody about it…somebody who knows what happened!" he almost looked ready to tear up. "S-sorry…this is just a bit overwhelming."
Takumi laughed. "I know what you mean. So, ready to learn the truth? All of it?"
Keisuke nodded eagerly.
"I hope you like long stories." Arata grinned.
Takumi put his fingers between each other and rested his chin on them. "It all started eight years ago. With the six of us in an EDEN demo event…"
In his dark lab the leader of Team One World sat on his throne. He looked down at the blond man wearing shades and a black uniform who bowed before him. "Very well done my friend." The masked man said. "Only Ben, Summer, and the Cyber Sleuths know what I look like."
"I am a man of my word sir."
"Indeed. As am I. I will help you plan your revenge. Ah, and I have news. One of our men spotted a Dragonite flying to Oblivia. With it were four people serving as the Ranger's backup. They took a picture and I looked into their identities. One of them is an Operator that I believe was in the Ranger School you used to work at. Rythmi, was it?"
The other man looked up. "She's here too?! Kellyn, Kate, Keith and now Rythmi…oh, this just gets better and better!"
The man smiled. "We shall start your plan whenever you are ready. I look forward to seeing what you cook up…Kincaid."
It started with Takumi and his friend explaining how they stumbled upon the Digital World as kids. Then shortly after explaining that, they skipped past eight years going into how Takumi, Ami, Nokia and Arata met in Kowloon and how the twins developed Half-Cyber bodies and became Cyber Sleuths. Around then, Keisuke started telling his tale. How he was framed for being a hacker and joining Hudie. From there they took turns telling their combined story. Jimmy Ken. Under Zero. The Paradise Loss Plan. K's true identity. The Royal Knights. Arcadiamon. The Mother Eater. Suedo's ambitions. Hudiemon. And the transformation of their world.
"As I watched it all happen, I made a promise to myself." Keisuke said. "That I will never forget. As Erika would put it…I'll never let go of the memories of our struggle, all the things we fought so hard to achieve. Erika's choice, Erika's new form…Her last smile…I'll remember them all. Forever. Forever."
Everyone stared at him as he finished. "Keisuke…" Nokia muttered.
"You had to keep that all bottled up inside you all this time." Ami said sadly. "It must have been painful for you."
Keisuke didn't reply. Takumi looked down. "Keisuke…I'm so sorry."
"Huh? For what?"
"What do you think? If we didn't reboot the world…or if we never entered the Digital World that day eight years ago…Erika would still be with you right now."
Keisuke shook his head. "She wouldn't have lasted long. She knew that. That's why she made that choice…"
"All the same, I…"
"Takumi, don't use this as an excuse to bear more guilt than you already carry." Yuuko said. "Hurting yourself isn't making it up to anyone."
"She's right." Keisuke said. "If anything, I'm grateful to you. Now I know all of it. Why everything had to happed. And with what I now know I can think about what I need to do for our future. And I plan on telling Erika as soon as I find her. I know she has to be somewhere in this world right now."
Arata grinned. "True. You two never could resist getting into trouble, could you?"
"Like you're one to talk." Nokia muttered.
"I'm still amazed there's so much that happened without us noticing." Ami said.
"I remember Yuuko telling us about Ryuji and Arcadiamon." Takumi noted. "When it appeared here."
Keisuke straightened up in shook. "Arcadiamon is here?! In this world?!"
"I'm afraid so." Arata replied. "The Leader of the Pokemon Pinchers, Purple Eyes tried to use it."
"Where is it now?!"
"Where it won't cause anymore trouble." Nokia replied. "Takumi, Ami, Ben and Summer, beat that thing up and returned it to a harmless Digi-Egg. Nema is storing it in a hidden storage space in her computer out of the reach of the other reincarnated Digimon."
"We monitor it everyday just to be safe." Yuugo added. "It doesn't look like it will hatch for a very long time. What's more is the data of the other Digimon it absorbed is being released and is forming new Digi-Eggs with those Digimon in them."
"Wow…you actually defeated it…" Keisuke said. "No wonder you guys are heroes."
Takumi noticed something depressing with Keisuke's voice. "Hmm? What's wrong Keisuke?"
"No, it's just…You guys are all amazing. You've accomplished things beyond imagination. The Pokemon Rangers too…I feel out of place."
"Hey, come on!" Nokia said. "You're totally a hero too, Keisuke!"
"Am I? Nothing I did really meant anything in the end, did it? Your actions were the only ones that mattered."
"That's not true! Remember how you saved Agumon and Gabumon? Without you I never would have met them!"
"And what about when you and Erika helped me cut the power?" Arata asked. "Things could have gotten far worse without you two."
"That's not all." Takumi said. "You said Erika created the Eater Bits when you helped her reach Suedou so she could see his notes, right?"
"Yeah." Keisuke nodded.
"In a way…you two helped us defeat Arcadiamon here in Oblivia."
"What do you mean?"
"During our final battle against Purple Eyes…Ami and I were absorbed into Arcadiamon. But Suedou found us and got us out."
"I knew it." Arata muttered.
"Suedou is still alive?!" Yuuko gasped.
"Well…sort of. He's part of what remains of the Eaters. But he was only able to find us because of the traces of the Eater Bits still lingering in Arcadiamon. And those things also served in us defeating Arcadiamon. Keisuke…you and Erika both saved me and Ami and Oblivia."
"Thanks guys, but it's okay." Keisuke smiled. "I got used to the idea that I'm just a side character of the big plot. Not everyone can be a hero. Fate doesn't work like that."
"Don't say that!" Ami said. "Fate" is just a word people use as an excuse to give up!"
"I agree." Takumi nodded. "You can choose your own fate Keisuke. Just as we chose ours. You can be a hero too."
"You really think that?"
Takumi nodded. Just then Ben walked over. "There you guys are."
"Is something wrong?" Yuugo asked.
"No, you've just been out here for a while."
"Sorry. We'll head back in." Ami replied. Ben went back inside before she herself did she looked at Keisuke. "Think about it, Keisuke. We were just ordinary people too. If we can be heroes, you can as well."
Keisuke stood alone for a bit before heading in. "Me…a hero?"
They walked inside where the others were waiting. "What were you guys doing out there for so long?" Solana asked.
"Nothing." Arata replied.
"It can't be nothing if you've been out there for half an hour." Chitose said.
Nokia grinned. "Sorry! It's our hacking business!"
"Ha! YES!" Chitose pointed at Yu with a cheesy grin. "I told you! I told you it would catch on!"
Yu simply sighed. "So, this is what the end times look like. They're even scarier than I imagined."
"Well, more importantly, what about the helmet?" Yuuko asked.
"It's secured in the "Even-Burglars-Loss-Interest Safe!" Calumon replied.
"I must say, the inventions Nema created at such a young age are quite impressive!" Prof. Hastings smiled.
Yu nodded. "That safe is sturdy and requires multiple combinations and codes! Don't worry, that helmet isn't going anywhere!"
"Cool." Lunick said. "Maybe we should have Nema strengthen up our security at the slammer."
"Huh?" Solana gave him a strange look.
"The jailbreak?"
"Oh, yes! Thank you for reminding me, Lunick." Hastings said grimly. "Ben, Summer, Kellyn, Kate, Keith, I'm afraid I have some bad news."
"I don't like where this is going…" Keith muttered.
"Just after you departed on your mission, I received a report from the prison. There was a breakout."
"Uh, oh. Who got out?" Summer asked.
"Five prisoners. Some of which you may know. Kincaid, Arley, Kasa, Hocus, and Purple Eyes."
Everyone went quiet at first. "Purple Eyes and The Societea escaped?!" Takumi gasped. "When did this happen?!"
"We don't know. Nobody noticed they were gone for a while. They most likely hacked the security cameras. Plus, the prison is far from Ranger Union and whoever was responsible for the jailbreak cut communications so they couldn't tell us for a while. Fortunately, no one was hurt."
Kellyn clenched his fists. "Kincaid is out too…!"
"Who's Kincaid?" Date asked.
"He was the leader of Team Din Sum." Kate said. "He posed as a teacher at our Ranger School to recruit students into his team. We arrested him at Altru Tower…"
"If that jerk escaped, it can't lead to anything good." Keith grumbled.
"I've heard how secure the prison is." Solana said. "No way those bad guys escaped on their own. They must have been helped from someone outside."
Ami looked at her friends. "If Kasa, Arley and Hocus were busted out then it can only mean one thing."
Ben nodded with a stern look. "Yeah. Ed "The Thinker" must have done this!"
"But it doesn't make sense that he would free Purple Eyes after he betrayed them at the Sky Fortress." Yuuko said.
"And then there's this Kincaid." Kyoko said. "Why would he help him?"
"Great. Like we don't have enough problems." Terriemron said.
"Ya think Ed "The Thinker" brought them into Team One World?" Fei asked. "Maybe that masked creep was him."
"Ed "The Thinker?" Hastings murmured. "He was the leader of the Societea posing as a doctor, yes?"
"Yeah." Nokia nodded. "White coat and everything."
"White coat…" Something clicked to Takumi. "Summer! That package Red Eyes gave us!"
"Oh yeah!" Summer reached into the inner pocket of her vest and pulled out the small box.
"What's that?" Matayoshi asked.
"Red Eyes gave it to us." Summer said. "One of his former team members said a man in a white coat asked him to give it to us."
"A man in a white coat?" Guilmon asked. "You don't think…?"
Ben took the envelop attached. "It's addressed to me and Summer."
"Well? What does it say?" Agumon asked.
Ben opened it a began to read. "Dear Pokemon Rangers, Cyber Sleuths, and heroes of Oblivia. I imagine by the time you receive this you will already be well aware that I have helped my friends escape prison. It seems that Purple Eyes and another prisoner got out amidst the chaos. I deeply apologize for any inconvenience they may cause due to my clumsiness. The truth is…even after Mewtwo freed me, I could not stop thinking of what happened in that horrifying moment when Purple Eyes sent it at me. Rand jumped in front of me. A criminal. His enemy. With no regard for his own safety. I remember us being alone in that dark realm. I asked him why he would do such a thing, but he simply said he did not know. He would do such a thing and not have a reason for it? And to add to my confusion, Detective Kyoko soon joined us. When Rand asked her what happened, she simply said "I was not about to let Purple Eyes destroy the future we struggled to create. I couldn't let him harm the little ones that would save this world and carry our legacy"."
Ami and her brother looked at their boss. "Kyoko…" The detective smiled proudly at them.
Ben smiled before he continued. "All my life as the brains of The Soceitea, I always thought of everything as logically as possible. But logic did not give me the answers to explain their actions. Why would they throw their lives away so willingly? What could be more important than their own survival? But some time after returning to this world I remembered something. What Kyoko told me. The importance of passing her legacy. I remember the day The Societea disbanded. We were depressed that one day we would be gone and forgotten. We accomplished so much…but to what end? What was the point of what we were doing if it meant we would be forgotten eventually? Then, one day, a man with a mask told us the legend of the Golden Armor and it's gift of immortality."
Takumi clenched his fists. "A masked man…Just as the Leader of Team One World said, he led The Societea to the armor."
"I thought this would answer our problems. If we never died, we would never be forgotten. But you and Kyoko insisted that was wrong. I was convinced you were fooling yourselves. But then I saw children telling the story of your heroics. Yes, your accomplishments even reached the faraway land I was sent to. And those children were smiling. They spoke of your battle against us in such joy. Then I finally saw the truth. Even if we succeeded in ruling the world forever, we would only be remembered by force and out of fear. But this story will last forever to inspire people to move forward with what time they have. To grow before they pass on the torch. Then something occurred to me…this is our legacy. We are part of this grand tale that will last for years to come. After freeing my friends and discussing this with them we came to a decision. The Societea will dissolve once more. For good this time. I swear you will have no further trouble with us. The four of us will live out the rest of our lives in peace. I want to thank you for opening our eyes. I do not know if we will ever meet again, so do stay healthy. Doctor Edward."
Nobody knew what to say at first. "Well…That's…something…" Date said.
Rythmi looked at the letter. "Huh? Looks like he wrote something on the back."
Ben flipped it around. "P.S. As an apology for letting Purple Eyes and that other man get away, I am leaving you with some of the very first treasure The Societea claimed a long time ago. Perhaps this is how I can pass my legacy to you."
Summer looked at the parcel. She unwrapped it and opened the box. Inside, there were two multi coloured stones. "Are these…Mega Stones?"
"I guess you two should hold onto them, since you can use Mega Evolution." Arata said.
Ben took one of the stones. Summer took the other. "Hey, speaking of Red Eyes…" Terriemron said. "Didn't he also say he knew a spy working in Team One World?"
"There's someone spying on them?" Date asked.
"That's what Red Eyes said." Tentomon said. "But he wouldn't say who."
"He did say that Team One World was researching some legendary Pokemon of some sort." Ben replied. "Aside from the birds."
"Interesting…" Kyoko murmured. "There's something I've been thinking about. You say the leader of Team One World was wearing a mask?"
"That's right." Ben nodded.
Kyoko then turned to her assistants. "Takumi, Ami, do you remember the time we took Leanne to Oblivia Ruins?"
"Of course." Ami nodded. "That's where we fought Giratina."
The Rangers went into shock. "Wait, what?!" Ben asked.
"You fought the legendary Giratina?!" Professor Hastings asked.
"What's a Giratina?" Otamamon asked.
"A legendary Pokemon said to live in another dimension." Rythmi replied, still in shock.
"When did this happen?!" Summer asked.
"About two months after you and Ben left Oblivia." Nokia replied. "Leanne got a "totally-fan-and-definitely-not-love-letter" from an ex-Pincher."
"And ex-Pincher?" Ben asked.
"Do you two remember when we confronted Purple Eyes at the Ruins?" Ami asked. "When we saw a Steelhead who was against his schemes?"
"Yeah."
"Well, he sent a letter saying he made a discovery at the Ruins. That's where we saw Garitina. Thanks to that Steelhead we found out how to calm it down. Many years ago, the Steelhead summoned Giratina to this world and stole its Griseous Orb."
"Griseous Orb?" Patamon asked.
"I've heard that name before…" Hastings said, stroking his chin.
"Without it, Giratina couldn't return to its own world." Takumi said. "Thanks to the ex-Pincher we were able to find it and return it to Giratina, who then went home."
"Incredible…" Kellyn murmured.
"So, what does this have to do with Team One World?" Lopmon asked.
"Takumi, Ami, do you remember how that Pincher came across those stories on Giratina?" Kyoko asked.
"He said he was tipped off." Ami replied. "By some guy with…a…mask…" It slowly came to her and Takumi. 'Wait a minute…"
"You think it was the leader of Team One World?!" Ben asked. "Is Giratina one of the Pokemon they're looking into?!"
"But why share that information?" Yuuko asked.
"I don't know, but we better look into this." Kellyn said before looking at Takumi. "Where's this ex-Pincher now?"
"Out of the region with Leanne and Rand. She hired him as his assistant after the mess."
"I don't think they departed for home just yet." Hastings said. "Someone, contact them about this!"
Rythmi nodded. "I'm on it!"
"Wait!" Ami pulled out a piece of paper from her notepad. "Here, I wrote down a description of the leader."
Rythmi looked at the note. "Wow. You didn't shirk any details. You even got an estimation of his height. That's a detective for you."
"Well, enough of that Misery, we need to let Rand know before he departs! Hurry, hurry, hurry!" Hastings said.
"For the hundredth time, it's Rythmi!" the Operator complained as she hurried to the computer.
Kyoko looked down. "What could his true intentions be?"
