Chapter 2: What a Nightmare, Lila!
After the song, Heather and Lila were in bed, reading when Barney came in, wearing his night cap.
"Nice hat, Barney." Lila smiled.
Snoopy barked in agreement, adjusting his own nightcap.
"Thank you." Barney smiled. "So, you girls ready for bed?"
"Almost!" both Heather and Lila said.
"I have to kiss Velvet and Caramel goodnight." Heather explained.
"Me too with Red." Lila said, grabbing her toy doll
Heather:
Me and my best teddy bear
Sitting in our favorite chair
We are going out to play
Just like everyday
Lila:
I've got lots of friends out there
And they're lots of fun
But they're not my teddy bear
Heather and Lila:
She's my favorite one
Me and my teddy, gettin' all ready

Heather:
You know we got a lot of friends that we play with
Lila:
You know we got a lot of friends who are fun
Heather and Lila:
But they can't do everything like my teddy

Lila:
You know I'm very seldom frightened, at nighttime

Heather:

Lila:
EEK!
Heather and Lila:

Heather:
I've got to leave them at home
Lila:
By herself, all alone
But she doesn't mind, and that's cool
Heather:
That's cool
Both girls giggled before Snoopy squeezed in right beside them.
"We would let you squeeze into bed with us Barney, but you're a little bit too big now." Lila giggled.
"Right." Barney giggled. "Don't worry. I'll just stand and be quiet."
"Alright, let's go to sleep." Heather smiled and yawned.
"C-can you please sing a lullaby?" asked Snoopy.
"Please Barney." Lila requested.
"Okay." Barney smiled.
Barney:
As the wind blows, the moon glows, and the sun slips away.
As your eyes close, we all know, you've had a full day.
It's time to sleep now;
Little one,
Time for dreams.
What will you dream of?
Where will you go?
Will you climb a big mountain?
Be a star in a show?
Will you swim with the fishies, or fly in the sky?
Will you ride on a rainbow, eating warm apple pie?
Snoopy licked his lips, happily. The girls giggled at that before they and the beagle started to yawn and began to go to sleep.
As the night falls,
the stars' dance, and the trees sing a song.
Time for dreams, now
'cause morning will come before long.
So go to sleep now,
Little one,
Time for dreams.
"Goodnight everyone." Barney smiled as he pulled the covers up and kissed Heather, Snoopy, and Lila on their heads. In Lila's head she began to dream.
She started walking down a dark hallway. "Hello? Anyone here?" Lila asked before finding a flashlight. Before she turned it on, she shuddered over some evil laughing. "What was that?!"
"Over here..." the voice cackled, from a sewer drain.
"Be brave." Lila inhaled, wandering around.
She then approached the storm drain before seeing a hand pop out. "Are you okay? Do you need help?" Lila asked.
"Don't worry. We all float down here..." The voice said.
Lila trembled a bit, remembering that line from the scary movie. "Uh...that's good to know..." Lila stammered before a head popped out.
It was Lucy's. "Here, take a balloon and you'll float too."
"Lucy?" Lila asked, surprised. "How did you get down there?"
"Come on, don't be scared. It's fun! There's practically a circus down here!" Lucy smiled.
Lila then smiled back, feeling relived. "I guess I could..." Lila said before she noticed Lucy still kept her friendly smile. "Wait a minute. You're not Lucy.".
"Of course I'm Lucy." Lucy grinned. "Can't a fussbudget just be happy?"
Lila decided to test something. "Really? Cause I think Schroeder's real cute. Maybe I'll marry him."
Lucy's smile didn't curl into a frown. Lila shook her head. "I'm leaving."
"Wait, without this?" Lucy asked, holding Red.
"Red?" Lila asked.
"Take it." Lucy grinned.
Lila trembled as she reached for Red. But as soon as Lila touched it, Lucy's head morphed into the clown's head and then IT grabbed her arm. Lila immediately screamed, ending the dream.
