"So... how long do you think these tests will last, Crusher?" Pickle asked as they stayed in Crusher's old room in the castle.
"Knowing the group well, not too long," Crusher sighed. "Man, I just wish I could go out there and see what tests Moonbeam is giving them. Some of her tests can be a little... tricky,"
"Maybe we can sneak out? We've done it before," Pickle suggested.
"Fair," Crusher chuckled and slowly opened the door to the empty hall.
They zoomed out from the room and headed through the halls. Crusher followed his sister's aura all the way to hall full of dozens and dozens of mirrors. There, they watched as she lead the group to the hall.
"Welcome to the Hall of Mirrors!"
"Whoa..."
The group gasped as they glanced around. Every mirror shimmered brightly under the light as they saw their reflections in it. Everything seemed normal... until Zeg's reflection waved at him and grinned.
"Huh?!" Zeg narrowed his eyes at his reflection.
"Hello!" the reflection spoke with another wave.
"Okay, is it just me, or did Zeg's reflection just talk?" Blaze questioned.
"Is that really so far-fetched?" Blaze's reflection suddenly snarked.
"Whoa! This is weird..." Darington gulped.
"Not so weird," Darington's reflection huffed.
"Your majesty, what is going on?" AJ asked.
"These mirrors will test how well you know and trust yourself," Moonbeam explained. "If you can't trust yourself with your judgements then it would be difficult for us to trust you,"
"How could they trust their own selves? They don't even trust each other!" Stripes's reflection cackled.
"Of course we do!" Stripes snapped.
"Oh really?" Starla's reflection burst into laughter before turning to Starla herself. "You don't even trust your own girlfriend around boys. What else with your friends?"
"Of course I trust my girlfriend around the boys!" Starla shouted. "I trust all of them completely!"
"No, she doesn't!" Watts's reflection huffed then she turned to Watts. "Your precious 'Starship' doesn't trust you at all! Everything she says are lies. Everything your friends are saying are lies as well!"
"I love them all, and if you love them, you trust them completely." Watts retorted.
"Oh boy, arguing with reflections," Moonbeam chuckled and took out a bag of popcorn. "In order to pass the test, you must make your reflection disappear,"
"We can do this," Blaze told the others.
"Oh maybe, YOU can, but can THEY?" Blaze's reflection snickered. "I mean, what have THEY done to you that actually helped you out?"
"They've done a lot, thank you very much," Blaze shot back.
"Have they?" AJ's reflection raised an eyebrow. "Whenever you got cheated on races, have THEY ever helped?"
"Hey, stop!" AJ frowned at his reflection.
"Why should I? It's the truth!"
"Of course they don't help," Darington's reflection mocked. "They're too much of a coward to help!"
Darington whimpered but couldn't think of anything to defend. The reflections all laughed by the lack of response.
"Darry, is that true...?" Blaze asked.
"M-Maybe..." Darington sighed. "It's just that, Crusher's cheats are sometimes really scary,"
"Well... I can say the same thing..." Starla admitted. "We didn't wanna say anything cause we were afraid that we would upset you."
"Oh, guys, we wouldn't be upset," Blaze assured them.
"Yeah," AJ agreed. "We know the robots and the rest of the cheats are scary. Even Blaze and I get scared by his cheats,"
"Blaze and AJ do?" Zeg asked.
"Yep, we do," Blaze nodded. "but then we thought; 'If we let the cheats scare us away, we'd be proving Crusher right and that his cheats could actually stop us', so we go for it and take the risk,"
Moonbeam watched with interest as the friends talked. Yes, she knew her brother cheated on races, but she lets it slide since he was holding back his true powers. This group, however, was impressing her, especially at the fact that they managed to make the reflections look outraged.
"DON'T FORGIVE THEM THAT EASILY!" Blaze's reflection snarled. "They're all a bunch of liars! They didn't do anything because they didn't bother to care about you! They're not your real friends!"
"You know what?" Blaze questioned, turning away with a sly grin. "I'm just not gonna listen to you."
"WHAT?!" the reflection hissed. "I am YOU! How could you not listen to me?!"
"Because if you were really me, I would never say that about my friends," Blaze spoke. "They're real, and I care for each and every one of them, as they do to me,"
"And I think Blaze has the right idea," AJ smirked. "I won't listen to mine either."
"Neither will we!" Gabby declared.
"NOOO!"
The reflections all screamed as one by one, they disappeared into thin air until all is left is Gabby's reflection.
"We did it!" Darington cheered.
"Indeed, you did," Gabby's reflection huffed and crossed her arms. "Your trust on yourselves and each other are sturdier than we expected,"
"And why haven't YOU disappeared with all the others?" Gabby asked.
"Well, I haven't said anything, now have I?" the reflection smirked.
"Well, whatever you have to say, I won't listen!"
"Mm-hmm..." the reflection yawned without a care and turned to Watts. "Hey, Watts, believe it or not, you're the worse monster machine Gabby has ever driven,"
"That's not true!" Gabby defended.
"Of course it's true," the reflection smirked. "Why are you always with Blaze then, Gabby, if you claim Watts to be your 'best friend'?"
"I, uh... uh, well..." Gabby stuttered for an answer with a gulp.
"See? The truth speaks for itself," the reflection laughed mockingly.
"Wait... is... is it true?" Watts frowned.
"Watts, don't listen to it," Blaze told the pink truck.
"Yeah," AJ agreed. "it's trying to mess with you,"
"Then explain why you're always with Blaze and AJ, Gabby?" the reflection taunted.
"Because they're also my best friends!" Gabby defended. "We're all best friends!"
"Petty excuse," the reflection scoffed.
"But it's the truth!"
"Don't worry, Gabby, I believe you," Watts assured her. "No way I'd believe a reflection over my own best friend,"
"Thanks..." Gabby smiled.
"Argh, you're all too good," the reflection groaned before disappearing.
"So... did we pass?" Blaze asked.
"Well, you DID get your reflections to disappear," Moonbeam grinned as she finished up her popcorn. "so, yes, you passed the second test,"
"But let's not celebrate yet," Blaze said. "We have one more test."
"But gotta admit," the group turned to see Crusher drive in, with Pickle in tow. "that was great work passing the Hall of Mirrors. Some of those reflections could be... irritating,"
"Crusher! Pickle!" Blaze lit up. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Yeah, what are you TWO doing HERE?" Moonbeam stared at the duo with wide eyes. "I thought that you'd be resting in your... guest rooms..."
"We got bored and thought to see the tests," Crusher replied with a smile. "How's it going so far?"
"Good. They past the first two." Moonbeam answered with a shrug. "Now, it's time for the final test; loyalty!"
"What do we do for this?" Blaze asked.
"Follow me, and find out," Moonbeam motioned them to follow her out of the hall.
