It had been 2 months since the twins' labor. Crusher and Blaze loved them to bits and were very happy to have them. In those 2 months, they had called their friends to see the twins, and they fawned over them like they were the most precious treasure in the world.
Well, to them they technically are, but that's beside the point.
In those two months, the pair had also been busy caring for the twins and giving them food and everything they needed. Pickle and his family helped in providing the clothes, so they had nothing to worry about.
But also in those 2 months, Blaze was busying himself with something Crusher couldn't predict...
.
.
.
"You have everything?" Darington asked as he and Pickle came to visit one day.
"Sure do!" Blaze nodded with a grin. "And you two SURE that you can watch over the twins while Crusher and I head out?"
"Of course we can!" Pickle assured him. "Good practice for when OUR little ones are born!"
"Alright..." Blaze gave a nod then turned to see Crusher hesitantly coming out of the house. "Ready to go, Crushy?"
"I guess so..." Crusher nodded. "Please make sure that the twins are fed well. Inazuma can be picky on his milk,"
"You got it!" the other duo nodded.
"Alright, let's get going!" Blaze beamed as he led Crusher out.
"You sure that the kids will be fine, Blaze?" Crusher looked unsure.
"I trust them completely," Blaze assured him. "The kids will be fine."
"O~kay..." Crusher sighed and nodded. "So, where are you taking me...?"
"It's a surprise..." Blaze grinned.
"Of course it is," Crusher chuckled.
They soon made it to a hill top. The sun was setting as the two laid down their picnic for their date.
"Wow... this is really nice!" Crusher sighed.
"It's perfect," Blaze corrected as they sat down together and watched the sunset. "Just you and me,"
"Yeah..."
Blaze took in a breath. Here went everything.
"Crusher... there's something I have to do..."
"Okay... what is it?" Crusher turned to him, confused.
Blaze took a deep breath and took out something from the basket that he had set down. He took out a velvet box and opened it to reveal a golden tire ring with sapphire crystals inside.
"Wow... it's beautiful..." Crusher then gasped. "Wait, are you...?"
"Yes," Blaze nodded and smiled. "I love you so much, Crusher, and even if I said it before, I'll say it again; I'd be here for you for as long as I live. All I'm asking is for you to be mine. Crusher, would you... marry me?"
"Yes... yes! YES YES YES YES!"
Crusher nodded vigorously, tears of joy shimmering in his eyes. Blaze beamed before placing the ring into his tire. Both stared into each other's eyes, but as they neared each other to kiss, smoke from the forest suddenly filled the air.
"Is... something burning?" Blaze questioned.
Screaming echoed through the forest. The duo were alert until they realized what it was and face-palmed.
"Darington's cooking again, isn't he?" Crusher groaned.
"Come on, let's go!" Blaze urged before they both rushed back down the hill.
At the house, they found Roarian and the animals putting out the fire inside while Pickle was holding the twins and scolding at Darington, who looked guilty.
"How many times have I told you?! I DO THE COOKING!"
"Sorry, sorry, but you were watching over the twins, and I was hungry!"
Blaze and Crusher glanced at each other before sighing. They approached their friends, who turned to them in surprise.
"Guys! When did you get here?" Darington asked.
"A minute ago. Now stand back!"
Blaze immediately turned into a fire engine and started blasting the flames. Soon, the flames were put out, much to everyone's relief.
"Sorry for ruining your outing..." Darington sighed.
"Well, it's not completely ruined," Crusher chuckled, taking the twins into his tires.
"Still, we-" Pickle interrupted himself with a gasp as he noticed the tire ring on Crusher's tire. "Wait... did Blaze...?"
"Yes," Crusher giggled. "He did,"
"HE PROPOSED!" Pickle squealed. "WHOOO!"
"Blaze, YOU PROPOSED?" Darington's jaw dropped.
"Darington, you KNOW that I was planning it!" Blaze stared at his friend in disbelief.
"Yes, but you ACTUALLY did?! I thought you were gonna be too scared because you were freaking nervous for the past few days,"
"I got over it, okay?"
"Okay, okay! Sheesh..." Darington chuckled. "Welp, congratulations, anyway!"
"Thanks," Crusher smiled.
"Congratulations, friends!" Roarian spoke as he flew to them. "Ah, so that is why you were very desperate to find a tire ring, Blaze. I had wondered when you asked me where to find one,"
"Well, why don't we all celebrate?" Pickle giggled. "I'll call Grammy and my family!"
"And I'll call the rest of our friends!" Darington offered.
"That's a great idea!" Blaze laughed.
And that night, the celebration of Crusher and Blaze's engagement lasted all night.
X
It was soon the day of the wedding. All of Blaze and Crusher's true friends were gathered in front of the farmhouse for it to begin.
Blaze, who was wearing a black suit and red tie, was already at the end of the isle provided by Roarian, who was also the one who offered to be the marriage officiant. As the best men, Darington, Zeg and Speedrick were at his side as he stood, admittingly a little nervous.
"You alright there, Blaze?" Speedrick asked as they watched his friend fiddle with his tires.
"Just... nervous..." Blaze admitted.
"Take a deep breath, Blaze," Darington suggested.
"Why Blaze so nervous?" Zeg tilted his head, confused.
"Well... I don't know... I mean..." Blaze gulped. "It's just... I'm finally getting married to the one I love. It's just... what if he calls it off at last minute? Or has second thoughts? Or, or-!"
"Calm down, Blaze," Speedrick snorted.
"Yeah," Darington agreed. "And we all know that Crusher wouldn't cancel. Pickle wouldn't let him, anyway. There's nothing to worry about,"
"I hope you're right..."
Meanwhile, inside the farmhouse, Pickle and his sisters were hovering over Crusher, fixing his white suit and blue tie (since he refused to wear a dress) and making sure everything about him was perfect for the ceremony.
"There. You look perfect!" Lily beamed.
"Finally..." Crusher sighed in relief. They had been going on for hours with his outfit and looks.
"You just need this!" Millie handed the bouquet of assorted flowers to the dark blue truck. "You might not be wearing a dress, but you're still gonna be 'the bride'!"
"Right..."
Crusher sighed and took the bouquet. Pickle beamed in his maid of honor dress (because he insisted to be in a dress) as he let Grammy inside. Grammy glanced at his grandson and smiled.
"You look amazing."
"Thanks, Grammy," Crusher returned the smile as he felt his stomach churn. "Oh... but now I'm a little nervous. What if Blaze realizes that I'm not the one for him and calls the wedding off?"
"He won't. He cares about you too much." Grammy assured him.
"I... I hope you're right," Crusher took a deep breath then he and Grammy followed Pickle and his sisters out of the farmhouse.
All their friends turned to face him as he stood at the other end of the aisle. Gasquatch was watching over the twins in the audience as he glanced over at them. Grammy held his tire, and he took another deep breath before he proceeded to walk down the aisle.
On the other side, Blaze could hardly contain his excitement as he watched the other walk towards him.
This was it.
The moment they had been waiting for.
They soon met at the stand, Grammy letting go of Crusher's tire before joining Gasquatch to take over babysitting the twins. Crusher and Blaze stood, face to face, as Roarian began the ceremony.
"Friends and family, of all ages and of all shapes and sizes and forms, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Blaze and Crusher,"
The opening speech went on and on, about love and acceptance of all kinds of love. Crusher didn't heed much of it, his focus on Blaze, who seemed to return the focus as he smiled.
"...and now, you may say your marriage vows," Roarian told them.
Blaze decided to speak first.
"Alright," he took a deep breath and smiled. "Crusher, I know that we didn't start out as other couples might have started out, but I knew that deep in my heart that there was good in you. That there was someone in there that could be loved, and I was right. You are my whole world, and I would do anything to be with you. I love you so much, and I'm glad we're finally getting married,"
Crusher smiled in response.
"Crusher, it is your turn," Roarian smiled.
"Right, right," Crusher cleared his throat and took a deep breath. "Blaze, I... I know that I was never the nicest person to you. I hated you before so much that I could barely remember why. But because of you, I've changed, and you've proved that I can change. You made me feel so happy and complete and made me feel that I can actually be myself around you. You've changed my life for the better, and I love you, so much for it,"
They both held tires, and Roarian looked proud as he held his head high.
"Blaze, do you take Crusher to be your spouse for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do." Blaze nodded.
"And Crusher, do you take Blaze to be your husband for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," Crusher nodded more vigorously than the other. "I really, REALLY do."
"You may now place the tire rings,"
Pickle handed the tire rings, and the pair exchanged it; the golden and red for Blaze and the silver and blue for Blaze.
"Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you married!" Roarian announced. "You may now kiss,"
The two chuckled and kissed. The audience erupted with cheers and cries of joy as Pickle and his sisters threw flower petals everywhere happily. The newly married couple laughed as the petals fell on them before they walked down the aisle.
By twilight, it was time for the reception, where everyone danced and had fun together. Blaze and Crusher cut the cake, which Clive was able to bake for them, before they proceeded to dance with everyone else. The reception lasted until night fell, and when it was over, everyone congratulated them before taking their leave.
Soon, it was only Grammy, Pickle, Darington, Speedrick, and Gasquatch left at the farmhouse.
"What a night..." Pickle sighed.
"I'm tired too..." Darington yawned. "Too tired to move..."
"You guys can stay over for the night," Blaze suggested as Crusher cradled the twins to sleep.
"Thanks." Darington gave a tired smile.
"Welp, Swoops ain't gonna be here until tomorrow, so I'll be staying too," Speedrick chuckled.
"Do you guys have enough spare rooms?" Gasquatch asked.
"They have plenty, as far as I remember," Grammy assured them. "Come, I'll take you dears to bed,"
Blaze watched with a smile as Grammy led them inside the farmhouse. He then turned to Crusher, who looked exhausted as he held the now sleeping twins.
"I... have an idea. How about we sleep under the stars tonight?"
"I like that idea..." Crusher yawned.
Blaze held him and gently led them off. The moon glowed brightly, and the stars twinkled beautifully above them as they all made their way to a hilltop, where they had a great view of the night sky.
"It's beautiful..."
Crusher smiled sleepily as they all laid down on the grass. The twins were snuggled up him as Blaze leaned his head down on him.
That day was the best day of their lives.
And it ended with such a magnificent night with the stars.
