![]() Author has written 1 story for Mass Effect. Hi! I'm Jane S. Smith, and apparently I write Mass Effect fan fiction. After I finished the third game, I wanted more, and realized that there's fan fiction for freaking everything, so imagine my happy surprise when I found a healthy, thriving fan fiction community for Mass Effect. It's not just me, hooray. Anyways, I love this game, I've played it through more times than I can count, and I'm just not ready to let it go yet. So fan fiction... I turn to you. Garrus is pretty much my most favorite thing since sliced bread. I also love cats. He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother Some notes about this series. This will be a fairly big series, I have plans for at least two sequels that will be comparable in length to Long Way Together (as well as a spin-off AU of an alternate ending of the one that I have planned for this story). As this is a bit of an AU (but as close to canon as I could possibly make it), I figured I'd give some character info here. No plot spoilers here.
We don't know much about them. Their mom died in a car crash. The circumstances were suspicious, but she was a nobody, with no paperwork. An illegal immigrant. The hospital messed up and lost track of Jane, who wound up being taken in by a hooker. John, on the other hand, is adopted quickly by Hannah Shepard. John Shepard I've played through as this John Shepard, from Mass Effect 1 through to Mass Effect 3. This story's John Shepard is based on that game's John Shepard. And this is what he did in the first two games: - Saved the Rachni Queen - Rescued Kaidan Alenko on Virmire - Chose to save the Council - Saved Maelon's data - Kept Wrex alive on Virmire - Chose to rewrite the geth heretics - Destroyed the Collector Base - Survived the suicide mission with 12 squadmates - Romanced Liara in Mass Effect 1 - Romanced Tali in Mass Effect 2 Origin: Spacer Reputation: War Hero Class: Soldier John is very much a paragon, but he pulls the right trigger from time to time, so to speak. When necessary. Jane Singer Jane's background is Earthborn, and could have been a canon femShep's backstory, in that she was poor, and ran with the Reds. Her 'Reputation,' or personality cementing tragic incident while with the Alliance, is unique to her, and a covert op, so no press about her. Her class is based on the multiplayer class N7 Shadow, an infiltrator who has three skills - Tactical Cloak, Shadow Strike and Electric Slash. I've taken some liberties with her skills because she's John Shepard's sister, so she's more badass than the rest. She's also a tech genius - John and Jane are both prodigies, it's just in their blood. She's based on the Mass Effect 1 renegade femShep more than anything else, but has touches of paragon here and there. I try to integrate Jane into the storyline as closely as possible, while still keeping her as close to the game's femShep as possible, while still making her her own person, as she isn't Commander Shepard. She's her own badass bitch. |
