After settling the group to bed, they headed to where Beejay was helping Crusher.
Crusher levitated in the air, his whole body black as he tried to get in control of his new form.
"How's he doing?" AJ asked in a whisper.
"Still attempting to not-"
Crusher let out an inhuman roar before falling to the ground with a thud.
"Oh, I can't do this!" the blue truck groaned. "No matter how many times I try, I can't master this form!"
"Hey, it's alright," Blaze assured him. "You'll get it, sooner or later,"
"No, I won't!" Crusher unmeaningly snapped. "I-I can't do ANYTHING right! My cheats always mess up, I often get in danger cause of my cheats, I put OTHERS in danger cause of them... and now I've put all of you in danger..."
Tears began to enter his eyes again, but he didn't bother to wipe them away as he got up, dejected.
"I'm sorry, Dad... I'm sorry, Papa, but... maybe I'm just a mistake..."
With that, he teleported out of the room to who knows where. Beejay hissed and sighed. Xander hugged him.
"Beejay, we'll figure out a way to get him to see positive," he assured him.
"He's putting too much pressure on himself," AJ supposed. "He thinks that if he doesn't succeed in this, we'll all blame him."
"Can you two try to talk him out?" Xander asked. "He listens to you two as much,"
"We'll try our best," Blaze promised, but looked unsure. "But first, we have to find him."
"Good luck," Xander smiled as Beejay began to sob in his tires. "Someone here needs some comfort himself,"
"AJ, hop in-- we'll go for a fly around."
AJ hopped in and headed off, flying around to find their friend. At last, they found him in the room he stayed in, sobbing on the bed.
"Crusher...?" Blaze slowly entered the room.
"W-What do you want...?" Crusher sobbed, clutching a pillow tight. "I thought you'd be going to figure out how to save this kingdom and Dad's from Mika..."
"Not without you," Blaze sighed.
"What good am I...? I'm a vampire prince who can't control these powers..."
"You can, just need to keep calm and practice," Blaze drove his side.
"I'm trying that, but nothing's working!" Crusher put the pillow over his head.
"It will," AJ assured him. "but you need to be patient. You're getting better,"
"No I'm not... you're just saying that to make me feel better..." Crusher sighed.
"No, because we believe that you will," Blaze told him.
"W-Why can't you two just give up on me?!" Crusher sighed angrily. "I'm nothing, can't you understand that?! WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I'LL NEVER BE YOU TWO?!!!"
Blaze and AJ looked a little taken back, but then that shock turned to concern as Crusher sighed again.
"Ever since I was little, I was often mocked for not knowing who my family really was. They teased me and called me worthless, so I just stuck with it all that time. When I met Pickle, he's the only one who didn't mock me, and he and his family welcomed me with open tires. It felt amazing. When you two came along, I was partly jealous of how great you guys are-- you knew who your family was, and I felt like an outcast compared to you two. You're amazing, and... and I'm... useless."
Crusher turned away, letting the tears fall from his eyes, down his cheeks and onto the bed, silently sniffling.
Blaze and AJ were speechless as the other cried tears.
Crusher wished he could be like them?
And he suffered all through that, through all those years without telling them??
That did explain why he was often so cold toward them. He didn't really hate them... he was just jealous of what they had and he didn't.
And he was all alone.
"Crusher…" Blaze finally found the courage to speak up.
Crusher tensed, squeezing his eyes shut and being prepared to hear some loud yelling from the red truck.
"I… I'm so sorry that happened to you,"
"We didn't know you were hurting," AJ added. "We wished we did. We could've stopped,"
"I just... was so insecure talking to someone I thought had everything they ever wanted..." Crusher muttered.
"Even our lives have flaws, Crusher," Blaze patted his back.
"R-Really?"
"Yeah," AJ nodded. "I mean, look at me. I'm a human in a family of trucks. Being adopted have some downsides too,"
"I... I just wish that I could have met my dads sooner... and I wish my mom was here..."
"I'm sure that if she was, she would be telling you the same thing your Dads are telling you," Blaze offered a smile.
"I... I'm so sorry for all the mean things I ever did to you," Crusher choked. "You were only trying to be my friends, and I kept pushing you away..."
"It's alright," Blaze smiled. "Let's put the past aside and focus on the situation now. Your powers are powerful, so it would take longer and more patience for you to master it. You just have to be patient,"
"Y-You know patience was never my strongest suit," Crusher sighed.
"We know," Blaze chuckled and smiled. "but we can help you. If you let us,"
Crusher thought about this before letting through a teary eyed smile.
"I-I think I'd like that."
Meanwhile, Beejay and Xander were waiting for the duo to come back, but the vampire king was starting to worry.
"W-What if he tries to hurt himself again?"
"Love, have faith," Xander kissed his cheek. "I'm sure he'll be fine…"
"Dad...? P-Papa...?"
The pair turned to see Crusher sheepishly enter the room with Blaze and AJ behind him. Beejay was relieved as he ran to his son.
"Son! Thank goodness!"
"Dad, I... I'm really sorry I left like that," Crusher sighed. "I was just so worried that if I didn't defeat Mika... you wouldn't want anything to do with me anymore..."
"Crusher, that's not why I want you here, why I love you," Beejay held him. "I'm sorry if I'm putting too much pressure on you,"
"It's okay. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself too. I'm ready to try again... only if Blaze and AJ will hold one tire while you and Papa hold the other one."
"Alright," Beejay nodded as they held Crusher's tires. "We're right here for you, Son,"
"Okay... here I go..."
Crusher felt his skin shift again and his wings appear as he began to fly up, partially as the four had his front tires pulled down.
"So... what kinds of things will he be able to do with these new powers?" AJ asked.
"He has already learned to shift the surroundings," Xander recalled.
"Shift his surroundings?" Blaze tilted his head.
"Watch, and you'll see what I mean," Xander gave him a wink.
Almost on cue, the surroundings began to shift around them, leaving them untouched as the walls began to change color and glitch.
"W-Whoa..."
"Okay... now what do I do?" Crusher asked, eyes still closed.
"Try any other power you can think of, Son," Beejay assured.
Crusher nodded and he felt his wings largen into giant black eagle wings with sharp talons at the ends.
"Whoa!" AJ gasped in shock.
"Is he... shapeshifting?" Blaze asked.
"Possibly," Beejay grinned. "Son, can you try changing again?"
Crusher shut his eyes and felt his body tremble before he shifted his entire form, turning full eagle.
"Wow... Crusher, you're an eagle! This is amazing!" AJ smiled.
"Really? Awesome!" Crusher began to fly around in his new form.
"Okay, Crush-- try shifting back and then try another power of yours!" Blaze smiled.
"Good idea-- the more powers we know you have, the better chances that there will be to defeat Mika," AJ nodded.
Crusher nodded and shifted his form back to the form he was earlier. He groaned and began to hiss, his eyes turning black and red.
"W-What's going on?" AJ asked.
"He's losing control again!" Xander hissed and ran to Crusher's side.
Blaze and AJ ran up to join him. Beejay did too, holding Crusher down until he regained control. After a while, he finally managed to take back control.
"Okay... I'm okay... and I'm ready to try again." Crusher smiled and began to fly up.
The group watched as he tried another power, his eyes glowing lavender as he caused shadows from the furniture to detach and dance around.
"Wow... he can control shadows!" Blaze gasped.
"Now THAT is cool!" AJ giggled. "Try something else, Crusher!"
Crusher's eyes gleamed blue and the shadows immediately froze into deep ice.
"Wow! This is incredible!" Crusher giggled. "I wonder what else I can do!"
He twirled his tires many times. Different kinds of elements came at his command, fire, water, nature… all types.
"Okay, this is something I could get used to... but lets see what else I can pull up my sleeve!"
He swirled his tires once more before he disappeared and melted into his shadow.
"Wh-Where did he go?" AJ asked.
"Down there," Beejay pointed at the moving shadow below them.
"Crusher! You just turned into your own shadow!" Blaze exclaimed with a laugh. "Perfect for trying to sneak up on Mika!"
"Yeah!" Crusher came out from his shadow and beamed. "That was amazing!"
"I could watch you with your powers all night!" AJ giggled.
Crusher laughed before he smiled. "Thank you, all of you, for helping me out with this,"
"It's our pleasure," Blaze smiled, reaching out his tire to touch Crusher's.
Crusher smiled and sighed. "So… how are the others? Are they okay?"
"They're fine, just... resting while Xander's spell takes effect."
"Spell?" Crusher turned to Xander. "What spell, Papa?"
"A spell to bring out their inner magic. We all decided we would bring magic out of all of your friends in order to help you." Xander replied.
"Oh… I…" Crusher was speechless as he blinked. "You guys didn't… have to do that…"
"We wanted to," AJ smiled. "And Blaze and I are willing to spend time with you and help you train as hard as you can."
"Maybe even bring out your ultimate form," Blaze added.
"Thanks, you guys, really," Crusher's smile stretched.
"Come on-- let's go and report to the queen. Maybe she can help us take your training to the next level."
They all headed off towards the throne room. Queen Jamie was working and telling her guards to keep duty.
"Your majesty?" AJ asked as they came in.
"Yes, dears?" Jamie stared down at them from her throne.
"We were wondering if you can help us take Crusher's training to the next level. We need all the help we can get if we wanna stop Mika." Blaze spoke.
"Why, of course," Jamie nodded. "What kind of help do you need?"
"Magic help," Crusher spoke up.
"We were hoping there were some other kinds of spells Crusher could learn that could bring out his ultimate form." Blaze clarified.
"Hmm, I think this could help," Jamie waved her hands around before a giant book of magic appeared.
"Thanks, your highness," Blaze smiled as the book was set in front of them. "Now let's see..."
They flipped through the pages to find what they were looking for. Finally, they found the page they needed.
"Aha! Here we go!" Blaze grinned.
"What does it say?" AJ asked, trying to get a closer look.
"It says the Guide to Unleashing the Ultimate Form," Blaze read out.
"Hey, this could come in handy!" Crusher smiled. "We better head out to the back garden. There, we might be able to do this without hurting anyone."
"Thanks, your highness!"
With that, the three rushed outside, where Crusher stood in front of Blaze, who set the book in front of him.
"Okay, Blaze, what do I need to do?"
"First things first, it looks like you need to focus on your inner magic and manipulating it, so that it unleashes your ultimate powers," Blaze read out.
"Okay... here goes nothing..."
Crusher focused on his abilities, closing his eyes as he felt his inner magic surround him. He tried to manipulate it to unleash his ultimate powers, but before he could, his magic faded into thin air.
"It's okay," AJ smiled. "Try again. Maybe you need to respark it a couple of times."
"Okay, okay, let me try again…"
Crusher took a deep breath and twirled his tires again, trying respark the magic he did. At the 5th time he did, magical flames appeared on his tires.
"Whoa, magic flames!" Blaze whispered.
"I wonder if that means something..." AJ hummed in thought.
Crusher focused harder until thehis lightning marks burst into flames. He yelped, driving around in shock as he stared at the flames.
"Crusher, it's okay. Maybe you can use this to an advantage!" Blaze suggested.
"O-Okay..." Crusher gulped and nodded shakily.
"Try bending the fire to your will," Blaze said as AJ looked through the book.
Crusher nodded and flicked his tires in attempt to control the fire. To his delight, the flames burst out into the air at his command before shaping a lightning bolt.
"Oh... wow!"
"Keep going, Crush!"
Crusher focused harder as the lightning flames exploded into electric sparks before vanishing into thin air.
"Okay, so now we know that you can do that," AJ grinned.
"So... what else does that book say, Blaze?" Crusher asked.
"Hmm..." Blaze read through the book. "More about focus and patience, along with... 'trigger',"
"Trigger?" AJ repeated.
"What kind of trigger?" Crusher asked.
"It doesn't say..." Blaze frowned.
"I'm sure we'll figure it out soon."
"For right now, let's just focus on the powers I do have," Crusher rubbed his friend's shoulder reassuringly.
"Good idea," Blaze set the book down and nodded.
