Edward's POV:

The atmosphere in the car seemed to lighten and Edward could not help but feel a little giddy. It felt like old times. Memories of how things used to be came flooding back. Where he and Eliza would stay up in each other's room and talk while the rest of the house slept, telling each other their hopes, dreams, and secrets. He would tell her about his dreams of joining the army and being a hero like the soldiers who were currently fighting, and she would lament about their father's desire for her to get married and not caring about her own desires.

"Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. You are a woman of good fortune. It is your one job to find a worthy husband." Edward remembered his father telling her and how she came to him crying. Eliza was not like one of the high-society girls of the time. Marriage was not something the truly interested her if it was not with someone she loved. She would have rather helped father with his law firm or focus on charitable work in the city. Something that would make her feel like she was making a difference. It seemed forgone of a concept now. Woman today have so much more freedom now. They can choose to marry who they want or not at all, work or not work at any job they choose, own property, run a business, hell- they can even go to space!

Looking at Eliza now, sitting in his passenger's seat, Edward could not help the burning curiosity for sister to grow. 'Where has she been? Why did she leave? What has she been doing?' where just a few of his thoughts that where running in his mind, and Edward decided that he did not want to wait for the answers any longer.

"Eliza, where have you been?" he asked and he saw his sister sigh. However, right before she was able to answer her eyes darted to just behind his shoulder and a look of confusion and amusement clouded them.

'Tap, Tap, Tap.' The sound of someone banging on the driver's side window caught Edward by surprise. He was so absorbed with his sister being there and telling her his story that he did not realize that someone had approached their parked vehicle. The steady thumping Edward could also hear, and the familiar sweet but smoky smell also, gave away who the person was before Edward turned around and began to roll down his window where Chief Swan stood.

Charlie's thoughts were all over the place as he looked at Edward and this unknown figure in the car. His mind jumping to a thousand different conclusions which made both Edward amused and frustrated. Particularly, when he caught the thought of Charlie thinking that he caught Edward cheating on his daughter.

'Perhaps, I can just shoot him now and get it over with. I am sure a judge would buy and insanity defiance,' Charlie thought, and Edward saw his fingers drift down to his gun.

"Is there a problem officer?" The sound of Eliza's voice shattered the tense silence and Edward felt Charlie nearly fall over at the sound. Edward turned to see his sister giving the man a gentle smile and the anger in Charlie's thoughts begin to lessen. 'What is happening?'

"We got some complaints about a Lottering veachal miss?"

"Elisabeth Masen, sir. I was not aware my brother and I were bothering anyone," Eliza stated.

'Why are you using mother's name?' Edward thought.

"Brother?" Charlie questioned and turned a skeptical gaze to Eliza and Edward. "I believe I know all of the Cullen adoptive children and you, miss, are not one of them."

"Charlie- this is my older biological sister Elisabeth. She was not adopted by Carlisle like I was," Edward stated, and he could see the wheels turn in his head, clearly wondering why this was the first time he has heard about this sister and not fully buying the story.

"And why have I not heard about you before now?" Charlie asked him but before Edward could formulate a good story, Eliza seemed to beat him to it.

"I am not surprised Edward has not mentioned me, he has been quite angry with me since our parents died. It was not long after that I decided to run off on my own and I could not take Edward with me. I don't think he has quiet forgiven me," Eliza answered and gave Edward a particular look before turning her gaze back up at Charlie. "It wasn't long until he was taken in by Dr. Cullen, but I always kept tabs on him. When I heard about his galivant to Italy and the… worry he caused, I came to see if he was alright and perhaps talk some sense into him."

"Well that's- that's quite a story," Charlie stated, digesting the information, and seemingly cursing how complicated Edward, and his family, were. "Does Bella know?"

"You know my brother's girlfriend?"

"She's my daughter," Charlie answered simply. 'And I am not sure how well she is going to take this.'

"You're Chief Charlie Swan- oh that is wonderful. It is lovely to meet you," Eliza stated, showing some of the energy and cheer that Edward remembered from long ago. "Edward has told me so much about you."

"He has?" Charlie asked skeptically.

"Oh yes. I do not know if he would like me to admit this, but he has even begun to consider a career path in law enforcement." That statement got Edward's attention as he whipped his head to his sister incredulously. Only to be met with a teasing smirk. "He was just talking to me about he would like to meet with you to discuss it more. That is, if that is agreeable to you, sir."

"Please, call me Charlie."

"Charlie," Eliza said, and Edward could not help but start to feel uncomfortable by the situation not to mention about where Charlie's thoughts began to turn to. 'Carlisle would not like to hear about this one bit.'

"Is that true?" Charlie asked and Edward tried to give a most convincing smile to the man.

"Yes. I know we have not gotten on the best footing of late. However, it was something I have been thinking on for a while now and you are the only person, I know who I could talk to about it."

There was a long pause and Edward listened in at the gears turned in Charlie's mind. Edward could tell that there was a part of him that thought the suggestion was fishy at best. However, Edward witnessed that part of Charlie's mind become drowned out by Eliza's words and soon the engulfed his whole psyche.

"Well, then perhaps we can all meet up at the diner and discuss it over dinner. I am sure Bella would love to meet your sister. Would Friday work?" Charlie asked giving a 100-watt smile and Edward but feel uneased. If Jasper where here, he would have sworn he manipulated the man's emotions for him.

"Friday sounds perfect. We would love to go. Isn't that right Eddie?" Eliza asked and gave a particularly tight squeeze to the hand she was still holding.

"Yes, Friday would be fine. We will meet you there. Thank you, Charlie," Edward answered, trying to fight back duel emotions that currently waged within him. He watched and Charlie nodded to them and walked back to his patrol car. Edward waited until he saw the car pull away ahead of him before he whipped his head to is sister. "What the hell was that?"

"Language," Eliza scolded but also giggled teasingly. "Besides, you should be thanking me. I just presented you with a golden opportunity to win your lady-love's father to your side and, possibly, reduced her sentence. You are welcome by the way."

"Yes, but how did you do that?"

"Call it being charming. Something you, still, currently lack. Now, why don't you work on getting this machine back in gear. I imagine we are late."
