7/18/2017 Update: "Hey, what's the deal? Do you even write anymore? We've been waiting for your stories to update for years now!" Short answer: not really, sorry. Long answer: Writing fanfiction really just isn't much of an appeal to me anymore. While I like coming up with scenarios and writing out plotlines for potential stories, I simply don't have the time or interest to write much anymore unless it's an original concept with original characters and an original setting (while also keeping in mind that I'm not even trying to be a writer of any sort [I make music, not stories]). I had started writing the next chapter of The Three-Leaf Clover a while ago only to realize that I wasn't having anywhere near as much fun writing it as I used to and that the chapter wasn't going anywhere (which is my fault for going on hiatus right before a pre-planned filler chapter). I feel bad to cut Awake in the Dream and The Three-Leaf Clover short like this, but I don't see myself getting them finished. Even if I started up again, I'm sure everyone who was reading them will be long gone by the time I get back to it. Feel free to message me if you have any questions; hell, if I'm feeling up for it, I might even tell you what I had planned, though it really depends on how I'm feeling at the time.

On a completely different note, I quite enjoy that people are still leaving reviews on Crossfire. I didn't think it'd be as polarizing as it is, but apparently there's no middle ground for it. It's even funnier that it's three and a half years old – meaning you really have to go out of your way to find it at this point – and I still get reviews and messages telling me how awful it is like I'm still working on it. Was it awful? Yeah, pretty much. Do I hate it or myself for writing it? Absolutely not. Every story I've written since What is Happiness? has had some kind of challenge behind it, and thanks to those challenges, it makes re-reading my own stories that much more enjoyable, even if I have to laugh at myself for how terrible the results ended up being. For those curious, Crossfire's challenge was to write a story with no predetermined plot based on experiences I had in high school (which makes the irony of "your characters don't act like real people would" all the more hilarious). Obviously not everything that happened in the story is based on something real, and I definitely exaggerated parts for the sake of drama, but generally Edward and Rebecca both live out memories from my time in high school. I realize people will think that by writing this I actually care a lot more about all the hate that this old story has garnered than I'm trying to convey, but just so we're clear here's the takeaway: keep it coming, I love it.

Since I'm not really writing anymore, I feel like it's worthwhile to share the experiments/challenges I had in mind while writing my stories (or planned to when I got around to the unwritten ones). Almost all the multichaps should have one, but a lot of the oneshots were just spur-of-the-moment things without any sort of experiment or challenge to them.

Golden Sun

What is Happiness?
Status: Complete
Challenge: Write my first fanfic and publish it.
My first fic ever, but also probably my biggest accomplishment so far! Tells the story of Isaac's life following the events of The Lost Age leading up to Dark Dawn. He's suffered through quite a bit of heartache, tragedy, and general misfortune, but there's always a silver lining to every unfortunate event that happens in his life. Mudshipping-centric.

Clear as Mud
Status: Complete
Just a little oneshot I felt like writing while in the midst of completing What is Happiness? A small deviation from the plot of The Lost Age showing a scene where Isaac and co. have decided to take a short break in the Apojii Islands after tracking Felix's group up to that point. Told through a series of angsty conversations and confused, teenage thoughts courtesy of Isaac and Mia. Mudshipping.

Lonely Heart's Treasure
Status: Complete
Challenge: Write a story that hides the identity of the main characters.
Another oneshot that could have been turned into a multi-chap, but would have been excruciatingly difficult for me to write given the nature of the text. Tells the tale of a boy who couldn't fit in with his clan and a girl who accepted him for who he was. Their love blossoms far greater than anyone expected, but only once the end of the story draws near will their identities be revealed.

A Land That Isn't Ours

My first oneshot series! Rifts in the space-time continuum are always fun when they're at someone else's expense! Follow along as the cast of Golden Sun gets teleported into all sorts of different universes: some familiar, some not so much. I dunno how many stories are gonna be in this series, but I'll get through a number of characters before ending it off.

A Voyage, Unknown Feelings, and Meat

Challenge: Write a tragedyship (request).
A tragedyship (PiersxKarst) requested by Droory. Piers is meant to take Karst to the front lines of the battle between the Tuaparang and a resistance force led by Felix, but he might just get a little more than he bargained for.

Mercury's Promise: The Wish of an Angel
Status: Complete
Challenge: Write something without romance.
A long-ass oneshot I wrote on a whim as a somewhat Christmas present to the GS fanbase. Mia had a rough time growing up, and things only got more complicated when she met Alex at age five. From there, things quickly spiralled into a mess of pain, hardships, and confusion, but the cousins always had each other for support. Is there a hidden side to Alex that only Mia knows about? Perhaps the reason for his quest for power isn't so clear-cut as it may initially seem.

Under the Maple Tree
Status: Complete
Challenge: Write something in a completely different writing style from my usual.
Threeshot softship. After something sudden is discovered, Felix begins to question what it means to exist. Determined to prove that his will is strong, he sets a goal for himself. Accompanied by Mia, the two search for answers that no one else has, though all comes back to the discovery. In the end, though, to live is to lose, and with each thing learned, another is forgotten...

Blue Fire: Memoirs of a Mars Adept

Second Golden Sun multi-chap! Parallel to What is Happiness? Isaac's story of love, loss, pain, and happiness has been told, but what was happening on the other side of the Goma Mountain Range during that time? Back in New Vale, Garet had a lot of his own problems to deal with, and whenever things start looking up, life comes around to smack him in the face. Is Garet really as upbeat as he appears or is it all a mask to hide his years of pain... Recommend reading What is Happiness? first, but it shouldn't be completely necessary.

Sailship (PiersxNowell) that Droory requested years ago after I wrote A Voyage, Unknown Feelings, and Meat. Semi-AU. Not sure if this will be a long oneshot or a four part multi-chap (not necessarily meaning four chapters). Don't want to say anything about it yet, but it will be written in a similar manner to Under the Maple Tree and Mercury's Promise: The Wish of an Angel.

Silver Moon: Dusk of a Forgotten Time

Challenge: Rewrite the Golden Sun lore in a canonical way
With all the stuff I have going on, I really shouldn't be conceptualizing new stories, but this one was a huge idea and I needed to get it plotted out. Ivan's life has been going great since the Golden Sun adventure ended. Lately, though, strange things have been happening around Kalay, and his memories have begun to fail him. Then one night, it happens. He wakes up in an unfamiliar body in a place that isn't his home. What he learns is that the world is a much darker place than he had been fooled into believing, and things only get crazier when he finds out that to change this dystopian future he must travel back to the past with two people: a girl that didn't even exist when the adventure began and the one they thought was the reason for their struggles. Things aren't always as they seem, however, and Ivan's memories of the adventure prove to be more than just a little incorrect.

Silver Moon: Dawn of the Revolution

The second half of the Silver Moon story I have planned out. I'll make this summary more elaborate once I've finished Dusk of a Forgotten Time. With the Golden Sun risen and different events triggered, Ivan and the other two head back to the time they are from. The world didn't change the way they'd hoped, though, and now they have to put an end to the intercontinental war that threatens to destroy the foundation they had built up. To do that, they'll have to travel into the past again and save the people who were killed to reunite the Warriors of Vale! The problem they come to realize, however, is that a changed past means an uncertain future, and sometimes even the best efforts fail to prevent the inevitability of a cruel fate.

Challenge: Write a story without a predetermined plot based on my high school experiences.
First multi-chap fic for Fire Emblem. An AU that revolves around two random but lovable characters, Edward (Radiant Dawn) and Rebecca (The Blazing Sword). Join them as they get into all sorts of wacky situations and dramatic events that lead to tons of loving relationships, sexual tension, and fourth-wall-breaking!

I See the Light

Challenge: Write a story based on a song.
A oneshot that takes place during and directly following the events of Path of Radiance. I was going through some weird phase where I watched the movie Tangled twice in one week (Disney princess movies ftw :P) and came up with this while drawing heavy inspiration from the song of the same name as this story. Focuses on Ike and Elincia's relationship; how it formed, grew, and what happens now that everything they've fought for has finally been reclaimed.

Second multi-chap for Fire Emblem. Sequel/Spin-off of Crossfire that follows Leonardo after his transfer to Valm Academy. There, he'll meet new friends, intimidating teachers, and a plethora of personalities that he didn't think could coexist in one school. At least he can rely on Mia, or will she be too preoccupied with her own love interests to worry about his? Step one to surviving Valm Academy: When dealing with overzealous actors, cutesy archery captains, and komodo dragons, the best way to get out of a situation is to smile and back away slowly. Unless, of course, you live with them, but how often is that going to happen?
I honestly have no idea when this one is going to get written, as I haven't made any progress plotting it out and other future stories seem to be blasting me with ideas. I really don't want to wing this the way I did for Crossfire, meaning that I won't be writing it until I have some kind of plot diagram to follow (and that might take a very long time at the rate I'm going with all these other stories). Sorry to anyone who's still waiting for this!

All's Fair in Love and War

Challenge: Write something darker than it seems on the surface.
Multi-chap fic for Kingdom Hearts. Originally I had wanted to write a SoKai story, since that's my absolute favourite KH pairing, but the concept for this story worked out way better as a RokuNami. Focuses on Roxas's move from Twilight Academy to his hometown school of Destiny High. Things start out slowly as he begins to settle in, but quickly pick up when he's thrown into the world of drama, Naminé, and Organization XIII.

The Three-Leaf Clover

Challenge: Write a story where the protagonist is more like the side character to the stories of others.
Second KH multi-chap. Sora has always been an average guy working a plain job and living in a regular apartment with his younger brother Roxas. After a fateful encounter with a bubbly, redheaded girl, Sora discovers the benefits of being an average joe and the importance of playing a supporting role in the game that is life.

Reflection

Challenge: Touch on a sensitive subject to address the oversimplification of a real world problem.
Multi-chap for KH; Genres: Friendship, Hurt/Comfort, Drama, Family.
Riku has it all. He's a star athlete, a model student, and a total ladykiller. To top it off, he's been appointed heir to his godfather's business and he's only sixteen years old! Life seems good, but no perfect being can be complete without a deep secret, and Riku is no exception. In a world governed by appearances, one slip-up could ruin everything, and he's determined to prevent that from happening, even if it means trapping himself within his own body. Very minimal RikuShi; I'm not so much focused on romance as other things. Heavy T rating for swearing and sensitive subject matter.

Multi-chap for KH based on the song lyrics to Secret Base by ZONE. I really shouldn't be planning out new stories while I'm in the middle of writing other ones, but this one's been sitting here for a while with no ideas and then I suddenly got hit with a whole bunch of ideas for it all at once.
It's August, the last month before everyone moves on to university. With starry eyes and bright futures, Roxas, Xion, Riku, Sora, and Kairi plan to have as much fun as they can before they step into the next stage of their lives. No one could have expected the single event that would turn everyone's lives upside down, nor how to handle the repercussions suddenly coming back when they were finally starting to move past it. "I wanted to sleep it off and apologize the next day. I was going to swallow my pride and do the right thing. That's how it should have happened. I had no way of knowing that I would wake up to find that the entire world had changed overnight."

Multi-chap for KH. A widower, a plane crash survivor, and a drug addict. They have never met, nor have they ever seen each other before. Given the chance to redo one event from their pasts, they join forces via a supernatural system transmission to complete their missions and reclaim their respective losses. Under the command of a mysterious enigma, known by the system as "Sage," the group will use their newly awakened abilities and put their lives at risk for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Not all is how it seems, however, and the more involved they become with their tasks, the more they are forced to question Sage, the system, and the conflicting moralities of the choices they must make. Will be rated M for violence, swearing, and drug use.

Challenge: Write a functional, believable love triangle in which the two-timer ends up with the most emotional suffering.
First LoZ fic. Does not follow the official game chronology. After waking the Wind Fish from its slumber, Link washes up on the shores of the Gerudo Desert. Devastated over the loss of Marin, he is found and rescued by Talon. At Lon Lon Ranch, Link meets Malon, a farm girl who effortlessly begins to heal his heart. Things seem bright until his dreams begin to alter reality, and what once was lost begins to manifest itself from the very depths of Link's subconscious. Discerning the line between dreams and reality becomes increasingly convoluted, and if his choices aren't made in time, there won't be any choices left to make...

The first 'book' in my series of crossovers. Though I don't update this story often, the plot is still vivid in my mind for what I want to happen. Romance is included but not really a central theme in this series. The first book focuses on the GS crew winding up in the XC world after Isaac falls into a strange, unnatural dream. The Monado returns to Shulk without reason, and everything evolves into a big sinister plot created by two of the most conniving villains around.

Resurrection: Keyblade and Chronicle

This little story description pertains to all the books following Resurrection. I'm not actually sure how many books will be in this series, but I'm going to say there'll be at least four. All I can say right now (since I don't have a plot figured out past Connection) is that Isaac, Shulk, Sora, and Stocke will all have to team up to defeat the evil mastermind(s) that have thrown their respective worlds into chaos.
