A divergence after Blackwater.

..Daryl/Beth.. AU - no zombies. 1945. The war is over and soldiers are flooding home, ready to pick up the lives they have had on hold for the past few years. Daryl Dixon has no life to return to and no plans of what he is going to do with himself. When he meets Hershel Greene, and the man offers him a job on his farm, Daryl has no reason to turn him down.

If you were quiet, if you were small, little, if you seemed weak until the last moment, you'd live. You'd survive. You'd thrust a machete up through a walker's skull and you'd live. Five years in the future, tv-canon, Beth & Daryl, and a little girl gone feral.

So I recently read "My Immortal." The editor in me wanted to salvage it into something slightly more readable. Here is the result.
