Chapter Three
~o 0 o~
Soon they had left school and Jaune was able to get back into his comfort zone. Jaune was able to relax while getting his sister to sprint to fixed points, do jumping jacks, sit-ups, obliques, push-ups, standard crunches and squats. Aster couldn't complain because Senna was always doing more than her. The further they got from school the less students to cat call or whistle, and the easier to sink into the training, which was what she figured Senna had done from the get go. For Senna had, unusually for her, ignored all the embarrassing interest as if there was none.
They were last to get home except for their Dad whom was still on mission. He might be back in a few days was the current belief being touted. Oh but Senna was saying they should wait on asking for training, Aster remembered, and she felt it sensible to take her lead on this as Senna seemed to have done more research on it. She should probably look into the recordings Senna had mentioned in class. They must be available from the library, and she wondered if it was the town or school library.
Of course it was like a switch was flipped and as soon as the training was over Senna was deferring to her once more. Aster dragged Senna to the bathroom as soon as they both had got their change of clothes, jeans of course for Senna. Aster wondered how she could get her twin into a dress or skirt
"Remember, your shampoo Senna." Aster told the now naked Senna, wondering would she run naked back to the bedroom or get re-dressed in her sweaty gym clothes. Aster had been distracted and Sen had made her own pile of clothes for the bathroom, and forgot the shampoo that Aster would have placed in the pile. Considering the house was filled with only girls it struck her odd at how Senna seemed to need to cover herself up now. The new prudish behavior had started this week.
"Ah can I use yours. I prefer the smell." Senna said.
"What no Pumpkin Pete? He will be jealous you no longer love him."
Jaune who had noticed Pyrrha's image on the cereal box this morning decided to have some fun. "I actually liked it for Pyrrha, but I'm sure she can't like the smell."
"You called out Pyrrha several times the last few nights. Who is she?"
"Why, she is the pretty redhead on the Pumpkin Pete cereal box."
As Aster stared in confusion Jaune stepped into the shower. "I'm closing the door in fifteen seconds."
"Prat there is no one else wanting to use the bathroom." Aster stated while getting in. Remnant couldn't tilt this much. She was the elder twin. She told Senna what to do. "So Senna, a redhead?" Aster was finally rewarded by a glorious blush from her sister. Had this Pyrrha been doing a promotion at the town's grocery store last weekend? Her sister had obviously met her, and was crushing on her big time. She couldn't think how else they might have met, and Monday night was the first night she had heard her sister call out her name.
Apparently during dinner Jaune found out this would have been his weekend taking care of Grandma Fay. Well she was actually their Great Grandma, but the family called her Grandma Fay. However, Saphron had swapped with him as she had a school project next weekend and Myrtle had already swapped next weekend with her's that had been the one after. Myrtle swapped as she was heading with a friend's family to Vale, and then Saphron found out about the project and apparently swapped again with Senna. The four eldest sisters alternated weekends helping out their Great Grandmother and if Senna hadn't agreed to swap out before Jaune came back to this new past, he could have looked to see if he could access the archive this weekend. He'd have to wait for next weekend to check now. They also visited their grandparents and great aunt on occasional weekends too, but their great grandma always got one of the four eldest Arcs. For the first time Jaune realized that all of the relatives were on his mother's side of the family and he couldn't help thinking of the archives mention of the Arc curse and both his father's lack of relatives and his own running away to Beacon at seventeen and wonder if there was trully a curse.
"Well girls what are everyone's weekend plans?" Prim asked after there'd been a rather long lull in the dinner conversation. Jaune noticed everyone look to Myrtle, and realized that without the elder twin Saphron the quieter and younger of his elder twin sisters was being given seniority which never happened. It was a different dynamic as normally without Saphron around Iris, who was Holly's younger twin stepped over Myrtle unless Aster interrupted her and gave the floor to Myrtle. Often times Aster would halt Iris and not yield the floor to Myrtle who would end up being asked by Mum after the youngest, Jess, had spoken. Occasionally Jaune and Holly would then be given to floor too by Mom if Iris had jumped in right after Aster.
"I'm going to get all my assignments done so I have none next weekend and can enjoy myself shopping in Vale." Myrtle said. As Iris opened her mouth she continued. "No Iris, I will not have time to look for some obscure book. The last time I wasted a whole day looking for one, and you complained you could get it cheaper mail ordering it."
"Senna and I will carry on the cool exercise routine Senna found from the library." Aster chimed in and Jaune nodded agreement. True to form Iris jumped in as soon as she figured the nod was Senna's contribution to the conversation. "Well it seems I will have to order my next books by mail order. Aside for that I hope to finish reading my book on the Vytal treatise. It is a really well written book that was first printed nearly twenty years ago. It discusses the triumphs and tragedies through the prior fifty years of looking back on the treatise to end The Great War… Did you know that each of the four Huntsmen academies has four combat schools feeding into them, and that there is actually a fifth unofficial academy that doesn't get included in hosting or participating in the Vytal Festival rotation?"
"Thank you Iris. That is really interesting." Prim quickly jumped in to save her other daughters from an impromptu history lesson. "Holly, what do you plan to do?" Dahlia closed her mouth from her prepared position to jump in after Iris having been shangheid by their Mom. Holly sounding almost defensive answered. "You said I could go to Mercy's party and sleepover tomorrow…
"As long as your homework is finished," Prim cut in and Holly nodded that it was, and Jess and Dahlia competed on who had the most friends they would be playing with over the weekend. The weird thing though was Dahlia was a good two inches taller than Jess, and had far less baby fat in her face than Jess had. Jaune was 'wierded' out as normally they argued that this girl was more their friend than the other sisters. Instead they competed on number of friends but they were different friends. Surely there couldn't be enough girls in fifth year to not have any common friends to fight over as he recalled them doing before?

The weekend and the first two school days of Jaune's second week of his, now her, 'do over' life had the newly minted twins already in a solid training rhythm. They didn't have combat class on Tuesdays so just like last week's Tuesday and Thursday Senna had a double length training session both before and after school.
"Really Senna we already did three sets of fifteen squats! My abs and legs are killing me!" Aster whined. "What your arms and back's not aching too, and you have energy to waste talking back? I guess you need to increase the sets of push-ups and chin-ups from sets of twenty-five to ones of thirty-five," was Senna's unhelpful reply.
Rather than informing her sister that she could no longer feel her back that had given up sending pain signals and being told she had excess energy as she was talking she huffed back in frustration. Senna endeavored to justify the workout. "Aster, trust me, Dad will be orders of magnitude worse. Tell you what I'll do two for every squat you do as the last set."
"Three," Aster puffed out as the counter and then determined to get or break fifty and destroy her evil sister. Unfortunately her body rebelled on her thirty second attempt and thus she couldn't even gloat that Senna would have to break a hundred of the cruel things. She knew she was next time demanding four to one ratio on sets as Senna didn't seem to show problem until the last dozen of her set.
As their sisters had helped Mom prepare dinner or done chores to clean the house while they had trained, showered and changed, they were going to be left with the clean up prior to getting started on homework and studying as had been the new normal. Queries about Pyrrha had not answered Aster's increasing intrigue into whom she was. Unfortunately her twin's sleep talking didn't respond to her questions nor provide any more details on the elusive girl it seemed her sister was dating. In fact having exhausted all subtle ways of obtaining the information she finally went for direct embarrassment. While the whole family sans Dad were sitting around the dinner table for the Tuesday evening's meal was Aster's best chance to find out.
Aster, who'd been getting more and more frustrated through the week, much to the rest of the family's increasing interest decided now was the time to ask. "Senna, who is Pyrrha, and did you meet her grocery shopping while I was taking care of Grandma Fay?" Mom and their sisters curiously looked at Aster and Senna. Everyone had worked out Aster was fishing for something from her twin over the last several days. They'd thought it was in regards to the training Aster had constantly announced was designed by Senna. As none of them had actually spent much time with Senna the last week, and as Senna had done the grocery shopping alone or with Aster, they were less in the loop than she was. Now Aster had point blank asked if Senna met a specific person there the weekend before last when she'd been away. Finally they knew that it was a person that Aster wanted to know more about. They were also all trying to figure out if they had met or knew of the person. It was an unusual name.
"I already told you she is the pretty redhead on the Pumpkin Pete's cereal box."
Prim was finely clued in where she'd heard the name before. "Pyrrha Nikos, the invincible girl, the current world under-fourteen's hunter and huntress champion," Their Mom jumped into the conversation trying to work out why she was being discussed. I mean she was sure that Senna, Jess and Dahlia only knew her as the logo for the cereal they were mad over, and didn't know her name. True she had thought Senna would have grown out of it by now, considering Holly and Iris had.
"Oh talking of Pumpkin Pete. Does anyone want the rest of my Pumpkin Pete shampoo?" Jaune decided to muddy the water and hopefully derail this conversation.
"Me!" Jess jumped to grab the offer.
"Oh come on Jess, you'll share right?" Dahlia whined.
"So she was at the grocery store last weekend. That's when you met your crush?" Aster forced the conversation back on track.
"Pyrrha Nikos wouldn't be at Ansel's grocery store. Vale City maybe, but she lives in Mistral. In fact the closest Senna could have come to meeting her would be last year when Dad took five of you to the third day of the junior tournament in Vale City. However, you were late and missed her fight because of the whole Iris and Holly argument that morning that delayed you getting to the arena." Mom thankfully came to his rescue allowing Jaune to sigh quietly.
"See sister sometimes I mean what I say. I kept saying that she was the pretty redhead on the Pumpkin Pete cereal box."
"No, you've met her and talked to her. You talk in your sleep sister, and you couldn't crush on her without meeting her." Aster persisted.
"I haven't met her!" Jaune exclaimed while blushing.
"Lie." Their Mum suddenly called out causing silence to descend on the table. "Senna, why are you lying about having met someone?"
"I am not lying Mom…
"Another lie. I am warning you young lady that if you lie a third time I will ground you, which means you don't get to stay at Grandma's this weekend and will do more chores…
"Well that's great Mom. You can claim I lie, while I tell you the truth. But, you just pull the Mom card and say I'm lying and I get punished, when I am telling you the truth." Jaune panicked.
"Normally, you girls admit I have caught you lying. I am disappointed in you Senna for bold face lying. You are grounded for week. Admit it or it will be three weeks."
"No, Mom I refuse. First off this is in regard to whether or not I have met someone, and it is not even about me lying, by saying I met a celebrity, but me keeping my private life, private. This is me being accused of lying when I say I haven't met a person. A fact that frankly is none of your or anyone here Oum's business. There is no way for me to have met this celebrity, and I say I haven't and whether you believe or not is your own choice, but not something I can be punished over. You have no proof, and it is not a punishable offence. It's not like breaking something, or not doing homework, or hitting someone."
Jaune was a little scarred when his Mom got up from the dinner table, but thankfully she stormed out of the room. He had thought she was going to start attacking him based on the expression on her face. Releasing the breath, he had been holding he looked around the table and saw his seven sisters were as concerned as him. Myrtle looked to be about to say saying when their Mom strode back in whacking a ruler on the dining table right next to Jaune's right hand. Jaune quickly removed his hand from being so close to the ruler.
"Point one Senna. My semblance is like a lie detector it's why I work at the police station. It's why I always catch you girls in lies. It, not only gives me truth or lie, but when I'm actively using it I also get emotions associated with the subject. Those emotions from you while you try to avoid this subject have me worried for my daughter's safety." She then wacked the ruler again on Senna's chair near where his other hand was. Jaune clung both hands in his lap and pushed the chair back a bit from the table.
"Point two Senna. As you are a twelve year old girl and I am your Mom. I do have every right to punish you for lying about not knowing someone you do know. So answer the next question without lying. Has Pyrrha Nikos done anything inappropriate with you?"
"No, of course not."
"Senna at your age, kissing or anything further is something I should know about. So have you kissed or has anything happened between the two of you?"
"Then we have kissed once." Jaune said as it had happened from his perspective, and taking into account his Mom's lie detector considered his last life as his current life's past earlier, it likely would for this too.
"You kissed her. Did she slap you?" Aster asked.
"No, she kissed me."
"When did this happen?" Jaune's Mom asked.
Jaune was totally scared. How did he answer this? "It was just before her fight." Was what he came up with as it was true enough to hopefully pass Mom's lie detector test, and yet would lead them to think it happened somehow on their trip last year to Vale City. He noticed all his sisters were staring at him and he couldn't help himself from blushing.
"But we never saw her fighting…
Their Mom interrupted Aster. "I recall your Father saying Senna got lost in Vale City while the rest of you visited Beacon on the fourth and final day of the competition. Something about you were scared of getting sick on the bullhead, was your excuse. Dad hadn't noticed that you slipped back off prior to it taking off. He spent the whole day searching Vale City for you, causing professors and students to take time to look after your sisters. Considering you were in Ansel all other times she was fighting in Vale did you on the day you swore you were lost actually go to see a fight…
Their Mom figuring the question was too complicated changed it. "No a better question when Pyrrha kissed you prior to a fight you obviously watched, was any other member of our family in the nearby area with you."
"No, they weren't." Jaune was just happy the second question was one he could answer. Even if it looked like it was going to make everyone believe he had lied about a day he had no recollection of. In his last life he hadn't gone to Vale City when he was eleven. Well as far as he could recall and he was sure he'd remember a trip to Vale to watch huntsmen fighting.
"She only kissed you once?" His mother asked to which he replied in the positive. "You have not slept with her."
Gulp Jaune was getting worried he thought he had dodged this even if he was going to be punished, but though he was sure his Mom meant slept as in sex. The problem was how her flipping lie detector would take slept to mean, and they had slept in the same dorm for nearly a year.
"Aside a kiss we have not had any other sexual interaction." Jaune answered. Unfortunately it didn't seem to appease his Mom. "Why did you avoid answering if you slept with her? In fact the level of guilt pouring off you went through the roof. So answer my question. "Have you ever slept with Pyrrha?"
"Not in the same bed ever. I only slept with her when we were both tired, and though we were in the same room we were in different beds." There a truthful statement that they will think is a few hours not nearly a year worth of nights.
"How did you beat my semblance when I asked you last year what happened?"
"I don't know." Jaune replied wondering when the inquisition would end.
"Okay I will work out what your additional punishment should be later. You are grounded for three weeks though. For now you can do the clean up by yourself. Everyone else upstairs, ready for bed and homework done, Dahlia and Jess your bedtime is in an hour so use the bathroom before your sisters as soon as you go upstairs.
Prim was extremely concerned of the emotions and thoughts she'd got after changing to actively use her semblance. The problem was the weirdness on the last few questions while active. Not only did she not get a solid confirmation this occurred last year, but Senna didn't seem to even recall last year's trip to Vale even happening and worse she believed she shared a room to sleep with Pyrrha for nearly a whole year. Aside the three night trip Vale last year Prim knew Senna slept every night in Aster and her bedroom with no Pyrrha Nikos present.
Her semblance either worked on a person or it didn't. People who were black spots to her semblance were always black spots and no one could make her semblance see things that weren't the truth as they knew it. So either her daughter suffered from delusions, her semblance had started to malfunction or… well that way truly led to madness and Prim shied away from it. She started worriedly after her daughter and tried to think what next to ask.
For Jaune on the one hand it was nice Mum helped him clean up. However, knowing what she had for a semblance made him nervous that the inquisition was still on.
"What are you scared of?" Senna's Mum asked joining her daughter in the kitchen with the last load from the dining table. She had seen the shaking that Senna was trying so hard to cover up.
"Right now, your semblance," Jaune answered using the conditional statement to not have to list his other fears.
"You want to be able to lie to me?"
Jaune angrily tried to harness in his emotions. "It is a violation of my privacy. Can you ask criminals any question you like or are there strict guidelines on how you can use your semblance at work?"
"You're my twelve year old daughter…
"So I have less rights than suspected criminals!"
"No of course... Actually yes you do, I am you mother and I have a right to know far more about you than I have a right to know about suspected criminals." Jaune realized that his Mom's ability to catch him in lies combined with his dickhead father preventing him from his dream was likely why he avoided her last life, and why he needed to do again. Hell if he could get Coach Mathews to unlock his semblance he might need to run away from home earlier than he did last time. As she had this lie detecting skill she was as bad as his father. He had thought it was just his father he needed to avoid but really for his father to have been such a douche he should have realized his Mom was too. She let him be the way he was.
"You're wrong. You are violating my privacy. The reason for the rules, are to protect. Sometimes innocent people can appear guilty. Sometimes things happen that cannot be explained. I have no recollection of ever going with some of the family to Vale City. I don't know if I got lost that day, as in my mind the whole trip you are talking about never happened. I can't tell you when I have seen Pyrrha fighting. I have seen her fight many times, which likely doesn't make sense…
"How can my semblance say those are truths?"
Jaune paused and concentrated on the washing up. Calming himself he had nearly let out too much. Taking a deep breath he began. "See Mom, using your semblance on your family is not right. Did your Mom have the same semblance to keep check on you when you were twelve?"
"Though I am now actively using my semblance, and though I can turn that off, I can't turn it off from passive use…
"Yes but you can ignore it unless someone has been hurt, or one of us meets the criteria of using it? Like how your work allow its use on a suspected criminal. Then you aren't breaking into our rights to privacy." Jaune angrily fought back and recalling of the basic human and faunus rights codicil asked. "Is there not a time limit on when a crime occurs and when a suspect can be questioned?" The controversial codicil often used to discriminate against faunus as it was only after the ending of the Great War that the 'and faunus' was added to the codicil.
"Well yes but what happened in Vale City doesn't fall under a specific crime category so I don't know which limit. Just to show a few if it counts as petty theft that has three months, grand theft's limit is six months, kidnapping five years from the end of captivity, or murder that has twenty-five years."
"I don't think it is as bad as grand theft and that has a six months limitation. You said that the trip to Vale City was about a year ago.
"Which is all well and good, but as you said this didn't occur then…
"I didn't say that Mom I said I had no recollection of going with some of our family to Vale City." Jaune quickly stopped his Mom from a statement that he couldn't say wasn't true.
Mrs. Arc scraped some of the scraps into the bin after having placed the food worth saving into the pantry. "Kidnapping has a five year limit. That would mean I could still question around what happened in Vale City."
"I haven't kidnapped anyone…
"But what if someone had kidnapped you, Senna? If this was last year you would be eleven. An eleven year old girl might not think it was kidnapping. She just wanted to avoid being sick on a bullhead, and someone had an extra ticket to the championship…
"I have not been kidnapped and I'm sure the limitation is to the kidnapper not the kidnapped. Though I can't talk about when I was younger, I can with my current more mature knowledge state I know I've never been kidnapped…
"Though that rings true. It is only true as you think it is likely true. You said you have no memory of the family trip to Vale, a kidnapping could have occurred then. During our conversation I get feelings that you have suffered from coercion and blackmailing which is frightening. At eleven if you thought you were being forced and blackmailed you could actually have had crimes that you didn't realize were crimes occurring to you too. They might have felt nice and compared to coercion and blackmailing…
"Mom I was not raped, touched inappropriately, or given drugs…
"I am so happy to know that. I know you feel I am using my semblance where I shouldn't. However, any parent that had this would use it to protect their children. It's not to find ways to be able to punish you. The punishment is to teach you to not do things that could really hurt you, Senna."
Jaune sighs and finishes washing the last item. Pulling the plug he rinses the wash cloth and gives the surfaces the dirty pots had been on a quick wipe.
"Senna, I get some bleed through from the person I am talking too. For example every time I call you Senna, I get a spike that your name is not true, or is sometimes true under certain conditions…
"Thus the reason for time limitations to when a criminal suspect can be questioned. In your mind the only possible time a meeting could occur is that day. Did you question me as soon as we got back home?" Jaune attempted to deflect from the comment about his name not being Senna.
"Yes…
"At that time I passed…
"Yes but…
"Irrelevant Mom, the limitations are likely due to memory not being perfect and degrading over time. This shouldn't even be petty theft, but even if considered as bad as grand theft it is out of the time of limitations and can't be acted on if it were a criminal investigation."
Jaune holding his hand to stop his Mom from interrupting continued. "So on the topic of me meeting Pyrrha Nikos I should not have to be forced to face your semblance. It is an invasion of my privacy, and my basic human rights."
"What about the oddness with your name, Senna." Where was Senna coming up with these concepts and the choice of words? Prim's worry kept growing as more oddities arose from her semblance's feedback on Senna's thoughts and emotions. At the same time she knew she had to not push too hard or her daughter would runaway again. When did she runaway?
"Did you never imagine a secret code name for yourself as a kid?" Jaune's Mom shook her head that she hadn't. Jaune undeterred carried on. "Fine, but there are times I want to be someone else. A secret hero that sweeps in and saves the damsel, slays the grimm and kisses the pretty princess."
Mom laughed. "What does Pyrrha think of you kissing princesses?" Seeing Senna start to frown and prepare a comeback she quickly carries on."Fine I will drop the hunt into discrepancies, and not punish you for possibly lying a year ago. You are still grounded for three weeks, but I won't add any more punishments. That still means you miss the weekend at Grandma's this rotation." Senna's Mom sighed. "Senna, you are my twelve year old daughter, even though I say I have dropped questions on what has happened between you and Pyrrha in the past, I want to meet Pyrrha and her parents before you meet her again."
"Fine, but with one caveat, namely if I bump into her accidently three or more years from now or so, I can spend time with her as long as I bring her to see you within a reasonable amount of time."
"No I am not comfortable with your modification." Mom stated while wondering where Senna came up with 'caveat' from. In fact her diction was rather mature and learned. More something she would expect from Iris, except Iris was pretending to be grown up and Senna was that of an almost adult. She also had never had this hard a time arguing with the girls even Saphron or Iris. Prior to this moment taking place her second eldest daughter had been the one getting her in the most awkward conversations, and been the hardest to control. When had Senna learnt to argue like this? How much interaction was she having with Pyrrha, and who knows who else that is part of a champion's entourage?
"Mom, what if I meet her during Beacon initiation. She becomes my partner we have to share a dorm, but I have to ask to leave school to bring her to see you. That is not going to be allowed. I couldn't leave 'till the end of term holidays."
"Senna, Beacon doesn't happen until after your seventeen. I somehow think you will meet before then. Has Pyrrha… has she told you she loves you?" Senna unhappily answered in the affirmative to the question. "I am worried she is chartering airships to whisk you to her fights in Mistral."
Jaune thinking of Ruby's early admittance into Beacon replied. "Actually there've been times where people as young as fifteen have been invited to attend Beacon. However, as I can finally see what you are worried about I agree that if Pyrrha shows up here, I will bring her to meet you before she whisks me off anywhere. I don't think that it is likely, but I can see your potential for worry. I would never go off with someone you hadn't met and knew and approved of. That is dangerous."
"Your Dad and I will not approve you going to Beacon before seventeen. Until you are seventeen we have the legal right to stop you, and we will, it doesn't matter if you become the huntress world champion." Then drawing a breath she needed to get back on track and focus on what she needed to know more on. "Did you mention to Pyrrha that you live in Ansel?" Senna nodded. "When Pyrrha next drops by Ansel to see you I demand to see her first. If you have her contact information I would like you to give it to me now, as I want to meet her parents too at the same time."
Jaune, blushing so brightly he wondered if he could collapse from lack of blood for the rest of his body, replied. He was at least thankful that though he knew Pyrrha's Beacon scroll contact that it was not a valid contact now, so he wouldn't have to lie to not knowing her contact info. "I don't have contact information for Pyrrha, but if she contacts me I will let her know your request, and if she shows up before Beacon I will bring her to see you." So his Mom thought he was being whisked to Mistral, that Pyrrha's guardians or parents knew of this, and hence she counted it as kidnapping, which if it happened that way it probably was. Jaune realized he also needed to try to think of him… no herself as Senna with correct pronouns so her Mom doesn't suddenly think her daughter has been swapped.
Of course this will all die down as not a problem when Pyrrha never shows up. Well at least she now understood what set off her Mum. So this was finally resolved. Folding up the dish rag and ensuring her Mom didn't need anything more she made her way upstairs to do her homework and likely another interrogation from her sisters. At least they didn't have semblance to wield against her.
Senna's Mom let her daughter leave. It would have to do. She had used up too much of her aura with her semblance active. Carrying on asking questions would only give time to Senna to work on excuses. She'd noted that obviously Senna thought she was getting into Beacon at fifteen still. She had seen how she popped in the exception of only meetings prior to Beacon. Well she was in for a rude awakening if she thought she would be able to enroll early.
Even though she wanted to know who and how someone had stolen her daughter. She had wanted to glean something more concrete. There was the coercion and blackmail she must find details about later too. Why did someone want her daughter? If Pyrrha was the honey trap to catch her daughter why was Senna allowed to leave when they obviously already caught her? Was Pyrrha innocent or complicit? If innocent at least her daughter's heart was safe. That was bad enough, but if Pyrrha was a participant it could destroy her daughter. She'd be having words with Vylack. To think he'd thought that as Senna was a tomboy and appeared interested in girls that there were no worries like there were with boys after their other daughters.
She had gleaned that her daughter hero worshipped this girl. That she thought it was Pyrrha that taught her everything worthwhile, including how to beat the blackmailing bullying and coercion. She couldn't stop crying knowing how little her own daughter thought of her. Was she that bad a Mother? She took no comfort knowing that at least Senna didn't hold her with the same emotion as she did her Father. Senna was completely apathetic toward him. She believed there was nothing he could do for her. In fact it was more she thought he was not only useless but could only limit and hurt her.
It was finding how low a respect she held of him in her life that had caused her to shy away from questions about Senna's relationship with her Dad. It was something she needed to explore later, but she was scared what she would find. Her husband was a blind spot to her semblance. Did he answer the key questions to cover up what happened on that Vale City trip? Had he hurt her daughter, and if so what of their other daughters?
How did she mess up so badly? To miss so much, when she had a semblance was not acceptable. Had she fallen into the trap of being lazy? Of relying on her passive semblance and it was not as all seeing as she had previously thought. Had she been stupid to think that it was better to fall in love with one of the few guys that were a blind spot to her semblance? She'd been so happy when she became interested in Vylack and found he was one of her blind spots.
Her prior relationships had ended badly and it was from using her semblance passively then actively to catch her ex-boyfriends in lies. Even her own Mum had said a relationship is built on trust and her constant lie-detector destroyed the chance of love growing. However, if Vylack has hurt any of their daughters…
