Chapter Five
~o 0 o~
"You can come in and talk with me. My husband's team got deployed as two other teams were unable to go on duty." Prim said stepping to the side to allow them to enter. Prim led them into the living room and offered them a seat, while next asking. "Should I get Senna, down?"
"No, that will not be needed, Mrs. Arc, and we won't take up too much of your time this evening." Senna's coach said having taken a seat when Prim encouraged them to sit. He looked around the living room. It was fairly large but knew with eight children it would have been easily filled and not seem as large as it did with only the three of them sitting in it. "Has Senna been getting into any fights recently?"
"You mean aside the spar last week in your class coach with Derrick, and the one today when Derrick's elder sister, a Beacon huntress graduate, attacked her from behind, the answer is no. Senna doesn't have her aura unlocked, and could have been crippled and those are her only two fights in the last couple of weeks." Prim said and saw the younger man looking worried. After a moment of no reply she added. "Other than those two events the only other fights I know of are the constant bullying Derrick has been using against my daughter like in the three weeks earlier Wednesday's combat class." Prim was a little annoyed that she was down to fumes on using her semblance. If ever there was a meeting she wished to get a truthful read on, it was one like this. She was fairly sure she could go with her gut that the two men were mostly worried she would press charges against ARMS and or the school. It would just be nice to know that their motives, thoughts and emotions really were mainly driven by that fear only.
"Mrs. Arc, Derrick Milo has a crush on your daughter. He is not bullying her…
"My daughter detests this Milo boy and you would do well to tell him to concentrate on learning while in class." Prim glares at the coach how dare he come in and from the bat attack her daughter. Unable to hold in the sigh of exasperation she still quickly rallies to control the conversation.
"You know… the actual reason to go to school. Derrick would do well to be reminded, rather than him being allowed to bother a person that greatly dislikes him." Prim angrily stated. As Prim prepared the next salvo Attikos decided to intrude and hopefully fend off the argument by saying. "I think we've got side tracked, and I'm sure Coach Mathews will explain to Derrick to not bother Senna in school." Attikos took a breath and looked at both of his elders glad to see both stepping back from fighting. "I have told my partner, who is in the hospital with a partially torn LCL and twisted ankle that she was in the wrong, and should have got Senna's side of what happened rather than going off what some of Derrick's friends had told her. We are just concerned, especially when you say you are only aware of these two fights."
A calmed down Coach Mathews stated. "Mrs Arc, your daughter annihilated Derrick with numerous attacks that occurred in less than a couple of seconds. This is not something learned by watching recordings of fights over a week. This is a skill that is trained over weeks of repetition with an instructor correcting the movements. Has your husband, you or anyone been giving her combat training?"
"Coach Mathews, didn't Senna fight Derrick three weeks ago in your class? Didn't you see then that she was not some well trained huntress?" Prim asked knowing from Aster how three weeks ago Senna was toward the bottom of the class of students in skill. "How she fought then puts to bed your weeks of training. The only combat lessons Senna has been enrolled in, is yours. My husband hasn't yet started training Aster and Senna." Prim knew she would exhaustively look into discovering when Pyrrha Nikos had managed to train her daughter, but there wasn't enough time unless someone had some kind of time warping semblance. Based on the timeline they shouldn't be able to find anything, but she would need to confirm her thoughts on some time warping method from Senna. That must be what had happened and why she got all those off reads of months of shared experiences with Pyrrha from her daughter. Prim was knocked out of her musing as Senna's coach kept talking.
"Then based on her sudden increase in ability I can only assume Senna has been watching and practicing on her own, and over these last few weeks it suddenly just clicked. My problem is she is now far too good to fight any of the students in the school. I know based on her last two fights that I couldn't even get a parent to allow an eleventh year senior to spa against her…
"Why not let her spa against my three elder daughters?" Prim offered the solution that Senna herself had brought up to enable Myrtle to get back into combat class. "Your eldest dropped…
"Coach Mathews after talking to my four eldest daughters I've found out they are all still eager to become huntresses, and I will sign the forms to allow their aura to be unlocked when you deem it appropriate and for them to be in combat lessons. A misunderstanding made me think my eldest was no longer interested in her childhood dream."
Pete thought long and hard, and knew there was something odd going on. Finally he acquiesced but still tried to encourage getting Senna into a more stringent fighting program. "That is fine as long as you sign a waiver I can allow that. However, I think Senna would be better served either going into Flare early or getting into the fighting circuits."
"My husband and I don't want Senna in Beacon before she is seventeen, and I want her to finish secondary education before attending Flare. Currently I want her to concentrate on all subjects and don't want her pulled from school for matches in Vale…
"Senna would be starting at District level, and even when later fighting for the Region she would only miss an afternoon at most during the week, and as her last two lessons on three of the five days are my combat class that means most likely only one academic class might get missed, and normally no impact." Coach Mathews tried to encourage Mrs. Arc to agree. Ansel for the last few years hadn't had a decent fighter in the circuits. With how good he believed Senna would do, Murry Well Secondary would get some much needed endorsements that Ansel's schools really needed.
"Team ARMS would like to offer your daughters help in training Mrs. Arc, especially if it seems your husband might be away more with my team out of rotation for the next few weeks while my partner recovers. She is sorry for misunderstanding what happened to her little brother." Attikos offered hoping to keep the worry from his voice. As a new team they were afraid of the Arc's seeking legal action against them.
Team ARMS hoped that offering Senna training for the fighting circuits, from the three members still combat ready would enable them to ingratiate themselves with the Arcs and make money while the team wasn't hundred percent combat ready. They needed to ensure to not have their hunting careers destroyed before they'd even got started. ARMS hadn't been chosen to represent Beacon in either of the two Vytal festivals held during their four years as students. Their last year at Beacon due to injuries and a team member's family emergency taking them from the team for several weeks they were ranked fourth best of the seven senior teams. Only the top three senior teams represented Beacon. Beacon had allowed the top four first year teams into the festival as it was held in Beacon and the hosting Academy could chose four teams from one of their four years. Unfortunately for ARMS Beacon chose four teams from the freshmen year and not the senior year.
In fact except for their first year where they did really poorly due to it taking a long time for the team to gel and become a team, their second and fourth years at Beacon were a tale of always being ranked one team too low to get into the festival. They were ranked the best team in their third year, but as the Vytal festival is only held every two years it was the wrong year to be the top team, and though they were ranked third in second year, Haven had imposed only the top two teams from the first two years could travel to Mistral, done likely as they had little depth in those years. With only a few weeks working for the town of Ansel, the team couldn't survive being fired from their first ever job as they hadn't made the connections to the key sponsors, which teams doing well at the Vytal Festival made.
Any complaints and being fired was an almost guaranteed certainty, even with the Milo family being on Ansel's town council, and being helpful for ARMS even getting offered the job in the first place. If the Arcs decided to file a complaint it was the death knell for ARMS. "If Myrtle has missed the beginning weeks of combat lessons we could get her prepared to get back in. By training your four daughters in the evenings and the weekends starting tomorrow we can at minimum get them good enough for admittance into Flare." Attikos offered.
Prim wasn't born yesterday and knew exactly why the young man was willing to get his team to train Myrtle and actually felt this was a perfect chance to find out if her daughters were correct to believe their Dad was sabotaging their training. Prim chose to see what else she could find out. She didn't say anything just looked back at the increasingly more nervous boy.
"With your agreement we would be happy to train your daughters, and we could do so during their usual combat lessons time as with two hunter trained parents they are likely ahead of the typical Murry Well students in Coach Mathews's lesson." Mister Watts nervously rallied and tried to fill the silence.
"Getting individual training from a hunter team will be best in enabling Myrtle to catch up what she has missed and to get her to determine if her dream is worth the effort needed." Coach Mathews chimed in. "Getting ten to twenty weeks of hunter instructed training will not only negate the missing nine weeks of combat lessons, but actually is far better than half to a full year or more of an academic school's combat lessons."
"I'm sure Senna would be interested for this weekend, but Saphron has a school project and Aster and Mrytle have prior commitments. However, the evenings and other weekends will work for usually two to three of the four." Prim said pretending to not have heard the whispered conversation from school coach to ARMS team leader of the pay the school would pay ARMS. She'd been worried about leaving Senna alone this weekend and how to broach her concerns with Mary. Having three hunters training her daughter should prevent any risk of her daughter being kidnapped. "You would be okay with Senna for the weekend?"
After getting nods she added. "I mean Senna is supposed to be grounded for three weeks and has chores to get done in the house while her sisters and I are visiting family this weekend. Her Dad would have been keeping her grounded but his team was called out for those three weeks." Prim didn't feel even slightly guilty in making everyone believe the grounding was caused by Senna fighting too aggressively, nor ARMS fault for the loss of parental supervision of said grounding. "Senna is still grounded and even if some famous fighter showed up in Ansel. One even as famous as the Invincible girl herself, I would need confirmation that team ARMS will not be distracted from ensuring my daughter is grounded and not being whisked off to have fun with celebrities during her supposed punishment." Both coach and hunter were smiling and nodding in agreement.
"Tomorrow, only your elder two have combat class, and Friday only your younger two. So the twins could join ARMS and their elder sisters at Ansel park Thursday evening after school, and all four training with ARMS during their respective combat class times." Coach Mathews explained.
"Yes it provides a good blend of training them in pairs in the afternoons and as a group of four on Wednesday afternoons and all the evenings. The following weekends after this one that will be for just Senna will have two to three of the four daughters usually, yes." ARMS's team leader offered. Prim turned from one to the other gentleman as they wound up their sales spiel.
"I have already got ARMS under contract to enable me to resolve this issue. I will need to get the contract for your four daughters written up, but should have it ready to sign by eleven tomorrow. Can we meet sometime between then and twelve to get it signed so ARMS can start tomorrow afternoon?" Coach Mathews asked. Prim knew for their prior whispered conversation that ARMS would actually be got under contract after they left tonight with her tentative agreement but figured the lie was not worth calling them out on.
"I have depositions to take from ten until one and a department meeting starting at two. Is there any way you can either swing by here prior to eight or later… say after four and we could leave it to start on Friday giving a whole extra day to get the contract signed?"
"I could swing by your office just gone one." Pete offered happy that his information had been correct on the depositions. He wanted the added weight of her profession that came into play if she signed the contract at her work place. "I will be too busy otherwise until late next week and I know ARMS and your daughters want to get started as soon as possible." Prim not wanting to allow a chance that this weekend's babysitting of Senna might fall through quickly acquiesced, forgetting her earlier worry about meeting with exhausted semblance was now set to me mimicked for tomorrow's meeting too.
After agreeing to meet tomorrow at one at her work and getting everything signed for the school and ARMS to train her eldest four during the school's usual combat class time for the next twelve weeks, Prim walked the two men to the front door. After happily shaking both men's hands and closing the door she went upstairs to check on her youngest four girls and ensure they were settling into bed, and let her younger pair of twins, Holly and Iris, know she would be checking their homework tomorrow morning.
~o 0 o~
Though Prim only had two sets of twins she tended to think of her daughters as three sets of twins and then her two youngest terrors. Prior to these last few days each of the three sets had one dominant and one submissive girl. Prim wondered if tomorrow Holly her second easiest daughter after her easiest Myrtle would be the daughter to rock the apple cart. Hopefully, Holly would finish primary school before deciding to be awkward.
Prim was happy after settling her youngest four to see that the dinning and kitchen had been cleaned. The four girls were sitting in the breakfast area of the kitchen as she'd used the family room with the guests. Oh, and they'd made her a cup of coffee too. "Thanks for the coffee." Prim took a sip after sitting. Disappointed that coffee was rather foul she pushed the cup away after taking the first sip. "Senna, I am not going to press as hard today as I did previously about the weird two different time lines, but I need to ensure your father and I are not liable to being sued for what has happened to the Milo kids. Further, even though you are a child there is a potential for you to be charged as a criminal."
Prim found it interesting that Aster was most aggressive in her defending of her twin sister. Myrtle and Saphron showed surprise and Senna seemed unworried. After hushing her children she carried on talking. "Senna, am I correct in my thinking that they will be unable to find any proof of professional training in what appears to be to all intents and purposes the actual timeline?"
Watching how both Aster and Senna were quiet, as if guilty of being caught, while her eldest two daughters started yelling questions and excitedly becoming interested in what their Mother had just said. Prim was glad at least Senna had shared whatever had happened with her twin. She'd been worried when Senna's new independence seemed to have damaged their twin bond of solidarity. At some point Pyrrha's parents would have to explain the semblance they used to train her daughter, but obviously Aster accepted it so she would too.
Thankfully eventually Prim was able to get everyone calmed down and more importantly got confirmation that any training if there had been any did not occur in real time and thus it was impossible and unable to be investigated. With that critical issue confirmed removed from the board Prim moved onto addressing the potential sabotaging of her daughters training. "Now I've mainly talked to Myrtle and Senna, but I've been getting feedback from all four of you and would like Saphron to let me know what she thinks of combat class."
"It is annoying. Everyone that is interested in fighting has been getting trained by a parent or a relative. Dad has prevented me accepting any help." Saphron sighed, hoping that for once Mum would actually listen, but sad it was too late for Myrtle. "It's just like he did to Myrtle and if I don't score high enough he will make me drop it just like she had to last year."
"Thank you, for answering me, Saphron, and I'll let you know the solution shortly. Aster how is your training going and I'm sorry that Dad has had to go back out for a few weeks, will you be okay, having to wait?"
"Actually, I think it is probably better if Senna pushes me to a more fit state before we request Dad to train us anyway. Both Myrtle and Saphron have let me know Dad is extremely brutal in his training demands." Aster responded.
"Well I had a meeting with both your combat class coach and the team leader of the huntsman team ARMS. Due to one of the members of ARMS being injured the other three members have signed a contract with Murry Well School and will sign one with me to train the four of you girls in the evenings and weekends for the next twelve weeks."

Thursday was a wet miserable morning showing spring truly wasn't willing to allow summer to arrive yet in the top half of the continent Sanus, for all it was supposed to be just around the corner. Senna couldn't be brought down from her high though. Mom had explained how the four of them would be meeting with the hunting team she'd hospitalized a member of in Ansel Park instead of going to the combat lesson. Not only would they be getting instruction from three graduated hunters, but the school and Mom had signed to have her aura unlocked when ARMS believed it was needed to be done for training. Hopefully she could prove to them quickly that she was ready for that step now.
"Come on Aster this is perfect weather to train in?" Senna wouldn't let Aster find an excuse to not get up early this morning. "This is the tenth day blues and you need to not let any excuse stop you from training today. I'm going to wake our sisters and you'll have to wait for the bathroom to pee."
Once they got to Ansel Park Senna got her older three sisters going through a rotation of four exercises. It wasn't long before Aster complained. "How is this weather the best to exercise in?" Myrtle and Saphron were too out of breath to add their complaints to Aster's. Senna smiled while doing over twice the reps Aster managed, which the older girls' despondently thought were still more than they could do before needing to take a break until Senna had them all rotate to the next station.
"When you really push yourself, you will get hot and sweaty. The soft drizzle keeps you cool and refreshed during the work out, and the clouds block the sun from glaring down on you while you exercise, stopping you from overheating." Senna informed her sisters while allowing her mind to wander as she pushed her body through the workout. When Jaune had got his aura unlocked his body wasn't ready for it, which Pyrrha had later admitted was the most likely reason for him not having a semblance, though if lucky he might get one later.
At the time with how huge his aura was when she unlocked it she thought he'd been trained. She'd even wondered if a side effect of waiting so long to unlock his aura was it being so large. After he'd confessed to having next to no training she'd explained how the trainer would hold off unlocking to ensure a better semblance was awoken with the unlocked aura. Senna wanted to see if this time a semblance would come in or if the weird time shift and game like allowance of a reset to last life's ending was Jaune's and now her semblance regardless of how trained she was prior to it being unlocked.

As is normally the case when you are waiting for something cool the day's lessons dragged. Senna ignored the gossip and just kept her head down wishing the school day to be over. Ms. Clair happily accepted Senna's history homework that she handed in a day early, and even stated it had the potential for bonus points due to being turned in early. Math and Remnant Literature both gave homework due next week. There were still two more periods before lunch.
Senna actually started both homework assignments hoping they would stop time from crawling. She had to be careful in keeping her lunch from falling on her homework though. Being a Thursday the twins had three subjects after lunch. Where Saphron and Myrtle had combat as the last two classes on Tuesday through Thursday the eighth and ninth years got combat class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so she suffered jealousy for the no longer eldest set of twins that would escape to being trained by a graduated huntsmen team before him.

The Arc twins exited the school after changing into sweats with school finally over. Though Senna still did stretches she was too eager to find out how her elder sisters had done, so likely gave the easiest run to Ansel park after school that Aster could recall since she'd discovered her twin was a time traveler. Initially Aster was enjoying the easier workout being called out by Attikos. The familiarity of stations for exercising different things allowed for comfort. Also Mr. Watts didn't push ridiculous numbers of repetitions at each station like Senna liked to do.
She was sure it was due to Senna doing more that he handed over her and her twin's workout to the female member of team ARMS she hadn't met yet. As it seemed she was as determined to cause Senna to fail as Senna was determined to not, Aster was now worked worse than her sister had forced her to exercise. Surely Dad couldn't be worse than this?
"Well as Watts is a typical boy and hasn't introduced us to one another I am Rebecca Hunt and I unfortunately ended up getting that sorry sod of a boy as my partner." Attikos who was helping Saphron stretch her legs yelled out an "Oy!" in outrage, but she carried on talking over his yelp. "I know the both of you have met Meenah Milo who's kid brother, Derrick, is in your class. You also met, but were not likely not introduced to, Shaylah Vaugn, who rounds out our team. Shaylah can you go easy and spar with Aster, and then teach her once you've got a handle on her talent level?" After getting a nod from Shaylah she turned to Senna. "Okay hot stuff. That leaves you to show me what you've got.
Aster was initially worried about fighting with Shaylah based on how angry she was yesterday. However, either she'd calmed down or didn't hold her responsible for what her twin had done to Shaylah's partner. Initially Shaylah let her attack and she did so with the moves her sister had drummed into her earlier this week. Unfortunately she'd only learned three kicks, two punches, three blocks and one elbow strike so Shaylah quickly provided counters to each of the attacks and seemed to know too easily what Aster was going to do.
"Okay that's not bad. You have more knowledge on how to fight than a typical senior in your school does, and would be able to nearly handle being thrown into a class filled with entering students to Flare." Shaylah then started giving Aster pointers on how to combine some of her attacks or initiate on one, but adapt it into one of the other attacks. Every so often Aster would look at Rebecca and Senna and boggle at how they were still fighting. Sure Rebecca would usually win and they would pause. However, Senna was still fighting again after that not yet having exhausted showing what she knew how to do, and learning new stuff as Aster was. Further, occasionally Senna got a point against her competitor. Even though Senna had almost a year of Beacon under her belt, Rebecca had three years of Flare and four years of Beacon. Learning from the champion must have really aided Senna. Or if Rebecca is holding back then she had a lot further to go with this training than she realized.

"Alright, gather round." Attikos announced. "I think we've made a good start and both Saphron and Myrtle know what to practice even though you have other commitments this weekend. You all need to spend at least ninety minutes in the mornings and the evenings training what we've shown you." Watts looked at each of the girls to ensure they were paying complete attention. "My plan for the twelve weeks is to push you enough that you have the best chance of getting a great semblance when I unlock you Aura. Both the school and your mother have signed off on allowing me to do so when I think you are ready."
"If you put in the training every day morning and evening and listen during our sessions to the three of us then you all could be ready to have your aura unlocked within a month and a half." As all of the Arc sisters smiled he carried on. "Senna is probably ready now to have her aura unlocked, but I want to push her for a while to ensure today wasn't a fluke, and though true growth needs your aura unlocked. It can only be unlocked once and later is usually better unless the person stops improving consistently."
Rebecca clapped to get everyone's attention. "I want to say initially I'd thought this was a daft idea, but all four of you showed today more dedication to pushing yourselves than I've seen amongst most of the third year students at Flare." Taking a breath and looking at each girl she then added. "We will know if you did both daily sessions when we meet up Monday afternoon, and we will see if the dedication is still at this high level in a few weeks. Shaylah you want to add anything?" After Shaylah shook her head Attikos verified it would be just the twins for Friday afternoon and Senna for the evening and weekend. He then dismissed them after getting each girl to agree to do at least his requested morning and evening sessions.
The four Arcs left for home as ARMS headed off to the hospital where with any luck their team mate will be or already was released this evening. If not there were a couple of hours of visiting time still available. The major tear of the LCL meant sixteen to thirty plus weeks of team ARMS being grounded. Attikos looked to ensure the three of them were far away from their students before saying. "We need to keep being positive and nice to these girls." Shaylah turned away from him and quickened her step. "Shaylah, I know you hate Senna and I agree that having spent one day training with her know what she did to Meenah and Derrick was deliberate. I also know she has had months of intensive huntress training. Unfortunately the Arcs' have somehow hid the training."
Rebecca answered him, though he knew Shaylah had listened to him. "The eldest two have nothing and really the bitches twin is next to nothing. If they had the same available training as the bitch they must be pathetic." Rebecca's lack of tact made him happy she had at least limited herself to trying to beat the crap out of Senna while making it look like a combat lesson while the girls were around.
The contract that Coach Mathews had signed with Attikos after they had left the Arcs' house yesterday meant they were good for the first twelve weeks. If they could get the Arc's to allow the twins or at least Senna to compete their bonus and possible sponsorship woes could be all a thing of the past. The three entered the hospital and finding their teammate was staying another night in the hospital. Upon learning they headed for her private room. Attikos was happy that the Milo family was picking up the hospital fees, they were also trying to uncover who had trained Senna. As those were the two largest expenses Attikos was relieved they hadn't asked the team to even contribute toward them.
Meenah looked up as soon as the rest of her team filed into her room. "How was it? Are they professionally trained?"
"The bitch definitely is." Shaylah offered before jumping onto the edge of her partner's bed. "If the elder two were we will know as currently they are pathetic. Even as they commit completely they will either stay pathetic then we'll know they were all trained and three of the four were hopeless cases."
Attikos added. "It's the bitches twin that is the most odd at times she shows at least a foundation of professional training, but then she screws up. It's like she has been given a couple of week's worth of professional one on one training but not been forced to do enough repetitions for her to gain any muscle memory."
"What's the plan then?" Meenah asked.
Attikos looked at his partner and seeing she wanted him to take the lead replied. "We work the bitch hard this weekend and likely I'll unlock her aura on Sunday and see what semblance she has…
"Can you hold off on unlocking her aura?" Rebecca asked and then seeing the queries from everyone carried on. "I'm enjoying beating the crap out of her and once you unlock her aura I won't be able to smack her around and cut and bruise her anymore."
"Oh yes let's say she doesn't get her aura unlocked until all her sisters are eligible." Shaylah quickly offered and Meenah gave her a high five in appreciation.
"I can hold off a bit and could possibly justify a week to ten days or so, even if she kicks up a fuss with the school for me not unlocking it. After ten days it becomes a bit obvious I'm being a dickhead though." Watts countered a little concerned he might need to reign in his team. There were times that being on a team of women was bad. When they had an issue with another woman was possibly the worst reason to be on a team of all women. It had destroyed his love life twice so far when each of his girlfriends had come up a foul of one of his teammates.
It likely would be better being on a team of women if the women were all guy crazy too. Being on one where though all were bi initially sounded good. However, if one was barely bi curios toward males, and the second heavily more interested in batting for the other team, then it was not as great a team for a man interested in women to be on. You had a choice of one woman that you would have to share or trying to have a relationship with a non-team member that could get on with all three female members of the team.
"Can we hold off unlocking her aura unless she signs to compete in circuits with team ARMS as her coaching staff?" Meenah inquired. "An inquiry would cause us to lose all money if we did that. So we could be sitting pretty and suddenly owe money we'd spent years ago, because someone thought to raise a cow later." The three girls sighed knowing they couldn't get what they want. "I think I unlock her aura in ten days. As they state that she hasn't had any training then I can justify holding off as I was thinking her a prodigy and wanted to confirm the stall in growth that we will see as the Arc's lie."
"What if she is a prodigy and all of the girls keep improving. Can't we then wait to unlock her aura longer than ten days?" Meenah excitedly said hoping to find a way to drag it out enough weeks that she could get to beat the crap out of the bitch.
"You realize that if they are telling the truth. If they had no formal training and she is a prodigy and possibly a couple of the sisters are gifted too. Then that means she isn't a bitch and didn't deliberately destroy your younger brother and put you in the hospital." Attikos quickly curbed his teammates before they found a way to justify keeping Senna's aura locked until Meenah could have a go at her.

"What the hell were you thinking…
"Councilor Milo it is win win…
"I'll make you cover the expense of the contract. I don't care if it is for team ARMS and that my daughter is on that team. You do not have the authority tying city funds up, and if I let this contract go through I will be challenged by Hill, Moore, White… Heck I could be challenged by Mister Unknown with no backing that just arrived in Ansel this morning and lose my position on the board. I've already placed myself out on the edge of the tree bough from what I've got other departments to sign to help my daughter's team." Raulf Milo couldn't understand how Pete Mathews was sitting there acting as if he had balanced the city budget and caused all the grimm to flee the walls surrounding the farms that feed Ansel.
"Mister Milo read the section five, subpart three, of paragraph six on page fifteen." Mister Mathews calmly stated after Raulf finally stopped talking. He then waited as the city council man got himself to the specific area of the contract and read the section that was initialed 'PFA'.
"What if she claims she was unaware of training provided by or through her husband or other relative…
"Third paragraph page nine." Mathews called out and smiled as he could rattle off the sections he'd ensured were in the contract that he'd got Special Investigator Arc to sign and be witnessed this morning at her place of work. Thereby allowing him to include she had not only signed as a mother but as Special Investigator Arc of the city of Ansel police whose semblance was on record to ferret out the truth. This could be easily proved due to the date, time and specified location, Ansel Police Department, of the signing of the contract, and that date and time fell within her working shift. It was irrelevant that it was during her lunch break as she hadn't left the building and thus could be considered still working.
After waiting for a while to allow Mister Milo to find and read the section he then offered. "I know that you are investigating the claims of no professional training. This means if you find any then the Arcs are not only liable to be sued by you for the attack on your son and daughter, and the medical expenses, they are also liable to pay the twelve week contract for requesting training from team ARMS and be sued by the school board and city board of public utilities."
"Well that is all well and good but what if we are unable to find any professional training occurred and are unable to prove it was her father or the team that Mister Arc is on…
Coach Mathews let out a laugh before speaking. "Well seen as their mother has signed in this contract that she refuses any of her daughters to be admitted into Flare or Beacon early then the city of Ansel makes a ton of money off of Senna Arc for the next five years." Pete stretched and got himself comfortable in the chair, and then he continued. "If any of the other daughters are pronounced a prodigy by a qualified huntsman scout then until they become seventeen we will make money off them too."
"You've lost me Pete…
"Part of the treaty of the Great War linked to the Vytal Festival that was actually the grounds to allow the combat circuits to identify and hone the gifted in need of being trained to protect the people." Pete paused and couldn't stop himself from feeling like patting himself on the back.
"The relevant section of law states… If an adult or child of any age is not eligible to display his or her prodigious gifts in the Vytal Festival then they must be eligible to do so in the circuits." Coach Mathews carefully looked to see if what he was saying had yet been picked up on. Seeing that Mister Milo was still in the weeds he added. "The four academies in their attack of the fifth, allow the city of Ansel to make money off Senna if she is a prodigy. If exhausted investigation is unable to prove Senna Arc received training, then she is a prodigy. Her own mother has signed exclusion of her attendance until seventeen to any of the five academies."
Coach Mathews clapped his hands and though he could see the councilor was now grasping where he was going carried on to gleefully point out. "The four schools hold control to ensure all eligible combatants are from only one of them for participation in the Vytal Festival. As Senna is a prodigious talent, irrelevant of age, she must display it and hone it. As she can't do so in the Vytal Festival she MUST do so in the circuits."
Now also grinning Mister Milo offered. "The city of Ansel is paid for sourcing strong talent into the circuits which due to your contract is at least guaranteed in Senna's case for five years and could provide up to three additional talents based on how fast Senna's sisters learn, and if my investigation turns up nothing."
"The city also gets tax revenue from Senna's and her sisters' sponsorships." Coach Mathews added the cream on the top of the deal he had made while removing the problem of a far too talented huntress from his school's combat class.
"Do you know what is odd now?" Councilor Milo asked and after the coach shook his head in negation he added. "Prior to this moment I've been getting more and more frustrated as my investigators fail to find proof of Senna Arc being professionally trained. Now I'm worried they'll find something."
