"Alright, I'm gonna work on the next chapter of my fic…"
"Wouldn't it be cool if the system got patch notes to update the classes, and be a neat way to talk about other gamers going through the somewhat same experience as him?"
"...It would be, but I'd have to rewrite the entire fic to put that in."
"It would be cool though."
"...It would…"
"You can just remove all the parts you didn't like about your old fic."
"Say no more"
My brain to me today.
...Uh, this is kind of awkward… Hey, you know, I should be panicking right now…
...So, anyone there? Someone to explain this to me? Having some weird form of amnesia where I kind of know things and don't at the same time is pretty weird…
No? Shoot… Is this…
Hello there!
Not what I expected, but keep talking.
Yeah, we get that a lot.
Anyways, you've been chosen to playtest our new gamer system! Well, you're not that special considering we have 1999 other people playtesting the same system.
...I have no idea what you're talking about.
Just consider it a second chance at life. Anyways, the thing that makes this system new is that you have to kill another gamer in a one versus one to get full access to your system. So basically PvP.
Alright? I feel like I should be more panicked about that…
You already have the villain's version of the gamer's mind, which lets you be more relaxed about the whole killing people thing.
The villain's version? Wait, why am I a villain?
You're one of the 1000 villains in our playtest. You're going up against one of the 1000 heroes. Nothing personal, of course. The selection was random.
I think I understand this a bit now. So I just have to beat the person I'm going up against?
Kill, but yes. You'll have your own world, usually from a franchise or something, to mess around and fight each other on. Winner gets the single-player system, best known for making normal people into gods within a few months, and the loser is eternally enslaved to the winner. Or they just die, depending on what the winner is feeling, really.
So if I win, I become god, and if I lose, I pray that my opponent wasn't too upset at me?
Yep.
...There is no possible way for this to go wrong, huh?
Exactly. Anyways, you're about to create your character, so have fun with that. I'll be back to tell you all the rules and disclaimers and all of that at the end.
Alright. I don't think I fully get this, but I think I get enough of it to make it work.
[Appearance]
[Class]
[Starting advantage]
[Modifiers]
[Difficulty]
[Name]
That's… nice, I guess. I guess I'll start from top to bottom, since it looks designed that way.
[Appearance]
[Species]
[Looks - complete species]
Species? Right… Okay, I guess.
[Species]
[Human], [Random choice 1], [Random choice 2], [Random choice 3,]
[Note: Random choices can be selected without being locked into them. However, if you select a random choice, you are disqualified from being human.]
That's cool... I mean, I have 3 chances to get something decent. Sure, open them all up, they can't all be bad, can't they?
[1 - Lion - gain STR every level up for free - bipedal until level 35]
[2 - Old God [World of Warcraft] - Gain 10 stat points every level up - Given minor god rank at start - Exp required to level up increased.]
[3 - Ghost - all physical attacks cannot harm you - you take more magic damage]
...Oh, that is quite good… Uh, I don't really know much about old gods, or just world of warcraft in general, but 10 stat points does sound nice… even if it takes more to level up.
...Wait, level up? Hold on… is this a game? Wait, the guy literally called it a gamer system, why am I slow to pick up on things?
You know what, ignore that, let's move on to appearance.
You have chosen [Old God]
[Appearance]
There's a lot of options here… Colors, skeletons, body type, muscle, wings, tentacles, you name it, it's probably here. Even a random option… doesn't look like an irreversible decision, so let me try it.
A few taps later, I find out all my options are essentially some kind of body horror thing. They were all sort of big, but smaller than what I thought a god would be, and none of them looked human at all.
Trying to use my own options to create a human, it looks like I'm physically not allowed to do that.
Fair, I guess. So, eldritch horror it is… You know, I saw an ant one in those random options. Ants are pretty cool, so I should do that.
A few minutes later, and voila, An ant with tentacles for legs, a massive stinger, 4 pincers, eyes everywhere, more tentacles on its back, huge teeth, a stomach that produces acid, 8 wings, and creepy looking scales all over. All in black and green.
Yep, if I saw this thing without the villain gamer's mind or whatever I have, I'd run the opposite direction. And then the tentacles would grab me instantly and this would eat me.
Wait… I'm the one doing the eating, eh whatever.
Appearance chosen.

[Name]
Right! Class, please.
[Class]
[Warrior]
[Mage]
[Rogue]
[Ranger]
[Other]
[Random]
Cool, cool… Uh huh… I don't know… mages are alright, but I don't really like the idea of that… Just a me thing, probably.
Rangers are alright, but not cool. Rogues are cool, same as warriors…
What's the other option for anyways?
[Other]
[Classes specific to some worlds, now open to you]
[Quirks] [Titan shifting] [Nen] [Stands] etc…
That's… pretty cool, but I'm going to have to pass on that.
Rogues or warriors… I mean, I'm big, I don't think a rogue can really sneak around if he's too big, so that means warrior by default, I guess.
[Warrior]
[Weapon specialist] [Martial artist] [Other]
Mar- ew, I'll just pick the weapons.
[Weapon specialist]
[Swords] [Spears] [Axes] [Maces] [Scythes] Etc…
That's super cool… But I'm an ant. With tentacles.
Shit.
At the same time, he doesn't really want to play mage or archer, and rogue sounds like he would fall into the same problem…
The only good option if I want to play a warrior is the martial artist, and they disgust me… for some reason.
Uh, spears, I guess. Maybe I'll become human in the future.
You have chosen Warrior [Spear specialty]
[Starting advantage]
[Modifiers]
[Difficulty]

Starting advantage.
[Starting advantage]
[An advantage that may or may not last through your entire playthrough, just to avoid you being killed on the first day.]
[You have obtained - Mortal form - You gain a mortal form at level one, instead of level 25. Mortal form can be killed without penalty to your original form. Requires 1 week to revive.]
Huh, that's neat… I guess I'll use my mortal form most of the time, and leave my original form somewhere safe?
[Modifiers]
[Name]
Well, second to last, modifiers.
[Modifiers]
[A random modifier added to your character which changes how you play. An infinite amount of modifiers can be chosen. Modifiers can be chosen to be specific to what options you have chosen.]
[Villain Gamer] [Warrior] [Old God]
That's neat. Uh, are the modifiers good or bad though? I guess there's no other option but to try it out… Villain gamer?
[Main antagonist - All protagonist(s) gain a 100% stat boost when fighting against you.]
...Ah, fuck. Uh, you know… God, this is stupid, but give me another.
[Look at me monologuing! - Your monologues will never be interrupted]
That's… better, but not good. You know what, I'll take it. Warrior, please?
[Weapon master - You have instant mastery over your chosen specialty type.]
You see! That's what I want… Too bad it's… wait, my starting advantage gives me a mortal form. I'll just give my weapon to him! See, all modifiers should be like this one. Next pull, be more like weapon master.
[To reach the peak - you have an innate instinct within you to fight other warriors and to come out on top.]
You're not weapon master… Ah, you know what, you win some, you lose some… give me another.
[Sturdy - you are unable to be 1-shot.]
I don't know why this was on the warrior modifier, but I'll take it! Uh, I think that's all I'll go for though…
...Old god?
[Dramatic - You speak like a stereotypical evil god character. Thoughts are unaffected.]
Shit. Old god?
[5th rate manipulator - Your skills at the art of manipulations are so awful they leave anyone dumbstruck at how bad you are.]
FUCK. OLD GOD!?
[Imprisoned - You are stuck inside a vast prison. Guarded by high level guards whose sole purpose is to let nothing in and nothing out.]
MOTHERFUCKER, OLD GOD!?
[Evolution master - all minions you create will be able to breed 3 times as quickly and will be able to minorly change their appearances to adapt to their situation.]
Great! I'll take it! God damn it, why did I develop an gambling addiction at the last moment!?
Ugh… whatever. What's the next one?
[Difficulty]
[Allows you to set the difficulty of yourself. The difficulty level influences what experience you gain and what levels your enemy are. Doesn't affect enemy player]
[Very Easy - locked]
[Easy - locked]
[Normal - locked]
[Hard - gain 25% more experience. All enemies are harder.]
[Extreme - gain 75% more experience. All enemies are much, much harder. All enemies when they first hear of you will immediately attempt to track you down.]
...75%? Well, I do need experience… but that last part is a bit iffy... Wait, I'm stuck inside a prison… with high level guards… making sure nothing gets in or out...
Hold on, this is good. If they can't reach me, and I can make up a mortal form to beat them up with no consequences to me, I'm immortal!
Well, until someone figures out how to beat up his guards, but other than that! Immortal!
Extreme has been chosen.
Choose your name.
Oh, right… uh, what's an old god sounding name…
Probably starts with a Z…
Za… Zavvox? That sounds nice. Zavvox it is.
Zavvox has been chosen for your name.
Please await admin approval
Admin approval? Uh, sure I guess…
...and waiting…
And waiting…
Jeez, they really need to upgrade their customer service. But then again, maybe they're just dealing with 2000 people at once.
I'll let this go.
Alright I'm back, let's see here… Huh, you're the second guy with a god related species.
I am? Wait, who's the other guy?
Not your opponent. Uh, since it's not your opponent, I think it's fine to say… He became a pyro archon from Genshin Impact, which is basically in that minor to medium god range.
I don't know half you just said, funny magic man, considering my knowledge on game terminology is inconsistent.
Well, you'll have a lot of time to make it consistent. Let's see… your build is garbage, and you're stupid to even try it, but I guess I can slightly understand. And your prison… wait a minute, why do we not have prison presets? Ugh, give me a moment… I need to call one of the bosses.
...Oh, alright…
...Why would you add in that modifier if you don't have a prison?
Are you talking mad shit about the modifiers I made?
Nope. definitely not, no shittalking here.
That's what I thought… anyways, pick a number from one through 10.
...Uh, 7?
Now do it again.
...5?
One last time.
10.
Are you sure?
Not anymore.
Good. Because the prison I'm making for you has 7 layers, 5 different enemy types, and 10 wardens.
That is to say, you're pretty set for life in there.
Okay, what does any of that mean?
Are you serious?
...No, not anymore.
Good. Well, while I'm here, here are the rules. First and foremost, this is a fight to the death against another player, don't make friends with them.
And that's it.
...That's it?
We want you to beat the shit out of each other for our entertainment, why would we place more rules on you?
That's… fair.
Oh, by the way, the system is still in its beta phase, of course. Expect a lot of patch notes detailing the changes of the systems. Oh, and expect everything to be nerfed a lot.
After all, a fight isn't too fun if one side is casually dominating the other. Our motto is "Fair and Balanced except when it isn't."
...Uh huh. Uh, what about my prison that you're making?
I already made it.
...Oh, right. You're god after all…
Exactly. Now, you're going to be dropped into your world in a minute, last second questions?
Do you have any tips and tricks you're allowed to pass down to me?
Well, you didn't hear it from me, but in your options menu, you can make it so that music plays while you're in a certain situation.
...That's not a tip or trick though. That's more like a neat feature that most people will find by exploring.
Well, I guess you're one of those types. Fine, an actual tip is that no matter how hard you try, you'll never get to our level, because it's built into the system so that we're always stronger than you. So don't try it.
That… is probably going to be relevant to my future, so I'll keep it in mind.
Good. Now go, I would say good luck, but it's clear you don't really need it.
...Thank you?
OHOHOHWHAT
THIS BODY WAS A MISTAKE.

?
"So, Aodare, what type of prison did you make that guy?"
"Well, I didn't want to make watching him too boring, considering his… interesting start."
"You can call it stupid, you know."
"Yes, it was stupid. Either way, I built a little small hole in the wall for him that lets his mortal form dig out of there. Of course, the walls in that place aren't breakable, so his original form is still stuck there, just as it should be."
"Mhm… by the way, no presets for the modifier? You were the one who added that modifier in..."
"Shut it."
Phew… I've done it!
So many weird complications with this body, but I can move now!
...It's just a shame that I can only move a bit with it, considering how big it is and how small my space to move is.

System updated
Title - day 1 patch. Open?
...Eh? Uh, sure I guess. Day 1 patches though…
Day 1 patch
Hello, our test subjects! Have you had a nice 24 hours? After a bit of observation, we've decided to just change a few things to our system. This is the system that future players will use either way, so it's better to update now rather than later. Now, you should probably start reading these patch notes because they will affect you as well! - Gaienyan
Removed unlimited stun mechanics.
I have to say, good job for one of you for figuring that out on the first day. That being said, fuck you at the same time. - Skryb
Granted instant knowledge on how to move yourselves on start.
Yes, we did see most of you who picked a unique species struggle to move. If you're curious, Zavvox has the record of requiring 23 hours and 59 minutes needed to accurately move his body. But I suppose in his defense, his body wasn't even a humanoid like most of you. -Aodare
Changed descriptions of many skills with vague wording.
Increased experience gain for heroes doing good deeds.
No, you won't get the experience you missed out on. Sorry! - Gaienyan.
Decreased the quality of the first gacha pull from mythic to legendary. All mythic items gained from first pull will turn into legendary gacha tokens.
Skryb obviously wasn't thinking while implementing this one. The difference between a mythic and most plot important characters is like the distance between one end of a small city to the other. - Aodare
That's it for day 1! Good luck on all your adventures, and congratulations on nobody dying yet!
I read through the patch notes and… damn.
I fucking suck. I got called out by the developers on DAY 1 for being shit at the game. And just think what I could've done with that mythic thing!
...At least I sit in small comfort knowing that the only other god in the game isn't my opponent. That should make this match relatively easy...
Omake
Tazadit
Ooh boy! I wonder where I'm going?
"Hey, you're finally awake."
...Fuck.
Yeah, a rewrite only 5 chapters in? Well, I say that it had only been 5 chapters in, and it's only been like less than a week since I started that fic, and I learnt a lot about writing in those few days.
Also, I got the idea of the patch notes and I just caved in and said screw it, and voila, this fic came into existence from the noble sacrifice of the other fic.
Its sacrifice was necessary to my fight.
Also, for the one reviewer in my last fic who REALLY wanted zerg, no worries, I heard your call, the moment Zavvox gets his create minion skill, the first thing he's going to make is zerg. You know that whole Tokyo invasion thing I did last fic in chapter 4? Imagine that, but with zerg.
It'll hopefully be really cool.
Anyways, reviews and suggestions are good, since I need ideas to keep this going until I reach my ultimate goal.
To find another pvp gamer fic.
Sure, I could just ask someone else to make it… but you know, I suck at person to person interaction. So obviously, the next best solution is to just make your own fic.
