![]() Author has written 5 stories for Harry Potter. I discovered the world of fan-fiction in 2018. After spending months enjoying HP fanfics I decided to give it a shot and started creating my own version of the HP world. I appreciate reviews both applauding and critiquing my work, but I will not accept verbal attacks on my person. May your gold flow and your enemies perish! ;-) I write Harry Potter fanfiction, My stories are mostly AU and aren’t crossovers. I tend not to like certain characters so my stories will either show them in a negative light or will push them into the background. Characters I dislike. - Hermione Granger. I was indifferent to her character in canon. But reading Harmony fanfics, where Harry is portrayed as a whelp who can’t function without her help. Hermione, on the other hand, is a goddess who can outshine a Veela in looks, a Supermodel in physique and Einstein and Merlín working together can’t beat her intelligence makes her jarring. In canon she constantly lies or hides things from her friends but she wants to know every detail of their lives. Her first lie was that she had tried a few simple spells and they all worked for her. If she’d tried to do magic with her wand she would have received a warning from the ministry, seeing how she lived in a muggle house in a muggle neighborhood. She’s been in the magical world for all of two seconds and she believes that wizards have no common sense (ending of the first book). She, however, contradicts herself by not showing any common sense in the fifth and seventh books. Once she had the signatures on the parchment for the DA, she should have warned the participants of the possible consequences if they were to tattle, seeing how her spell didn’t stop someone from talking. In the seventh book, she believed herself so superior to everyone else that she didn’t bother consulting either Ron or Harry before she packed for their trip. Had she done it, they might have packed food saving them a lot of headaches. Finally, and this one point really gets to me. Hermione is NOT academically gifted. She is an extremely hardworking girl who spends all her time studying. The simple example of her lack of intelligence is proved in the third book, where she requires a time turner just to be able to attend divination and muggle studies. She drops those the following year and returns the time turner. She once again needs to be spoon fed DADA lessons by Harry in her fifth year, just to be able to pass her OWL’s. I am so tired of seeing perfect Hermione pop up everywhere that I will not be giving her character much importance in my work. - Ron Weasley is another character I dislike. I agree that his abandoning Harry twice made me question his loyalties. But my main reason to dislike Ron is in the fifth book. He thought that he’d lost his father during Christmas of book five and as expected he was inconsolable. During that entire time, Harry is feeling responsible for what happened and is genuinely concerned for the Weasley’s. Six months later, when Harry does lose Sirius, Ron doesn’t seem to care. All he’s busy thinking about is his sister hooking up with Harry. That one moment ruined Ron’s character for me. - Ginny Weasley never seems to get over her obsession with Harry Potter. It’s like her entire existence revolves around him. At ten we hear her plea to her mother first hand, at eleven she nearly gets Hogwarts shut down and endangers her peers because of her obsession, at thirteen she’s cursing her luck for choosing Neville before Harry found a date to the Yule ball. After that we mostly see an angry redhead, hooking up with guys till the object of her obsession pays her any heed. Once with him, we never hear or see any interaction between the couple, no Hogsmeade dates. No private moments, nothing. Ron and Lavender receive more screen time than these two. Even when they break up she’s clinging onto him, by reminding him that she has always and will always be waiting for him. She so much as goes ahead and kisses him on his birthday to prove her point. When he comes back, she automatically tags herself to him. The scene that hit my nerves was when she asked Luna to accompany him instead of Cho, to Ravenclaw tower. Did she have so little faith in him that she thought that he’d stop for a quickie in the middle of a battle? If that wasn’t enough, Ginny is a spoiled little brat. Ron didn’t get a new wand because his parents couldn’t afford it during his first year, when they only had four children at Hogwarts. Ginny, however, got a new wand when there were five of them attending Hogwarts and they were forced to buy five new sets of Lockhart’s books. She even got nice dress robes for a ball that she wasn’t supposed to attend. She knew from having heard her mother that they couldn’t afford the extras. Ron was given robes that belonged to the previous century. Yet Ginny weaseled her way in by asking Neville without bothering about her family's financial situation. Ginny was a secondary character but everything about her is repulsive and I for the life of me don’t understand how anybody can support the pairing. - Molly Weasley is simply the worst mother in the world. She showers Harry with affection whilst ignoring her own blood and she thinks it’s okay to insert herself into his life. If she truly cared about him, she would have let the Dursley’s know that Harry had someone looking out for him after her children told her of his living conditions in the second book. She never bothered, Harry was simply her family's ticket to a better life and she was milking him for all his worth. To top it, she had that obnoxious clock made. It would be fine if the clock showed things like: mortal peril, danger, injury or things like that. But it showed everyone’s location at all times, so she knew who was at home and who was at work, traveling or at school. That’s not normal, especially when it concerns her husband and adult children. If all that wasn’t enough, the woman who hadn’t bothered putting the fear of god in the Dursleys thought it was okay to show Sirius his place in his own home. That one line made me detest Molly Weasley. - Lily Evans, I don’t hate her but I don’t like her either. She’s shown smiling when her best friend is hanging upside down and then she promptly drops him when he insults her. Honestly, till that point I’m pretty indifferent towards her but what irks me is that she started dating James Potter but expected him to change for her. To all the Jilly fans out there, this is called a toxic relationship. You cannot start seeing someone hoping that you’ll be able to change them. Adding fuel to the fire is Dumbledore who keeps on repeating the ‘mothers love’ mantra. If we hadn’t seen Harry’s memory, we’d think that James saw Voldemort and made a run for it. But James held him off without a wand and told her to get Harry and run, which she didn’t do. She could have taken Harry and apparated away but she chose to stay. There was a line about Dumbledore causing a rift between Snape and Lily. I have a conspiracy theory where Lily was mixed up with Dumbeldore. He most probably promised her things and she lapped it all up. She got her happily ever after with James and most probably thought that Dumbledore would have her back once again. Like I said it’s a wild theory but it’s the only one that makes sense to me. She reminds me a lot of Molly, where she is threatening and scolding everyone to get her way. Imagine spending the rest of your life with a bully! For someone like Arthur who is subdued it’s okay, but James was not portrayed as a man who’d stay quiet. If they hadn’t died I would imagine them having a very bitter life. Harry is told that she was smart and popular and all that jazz but what else do you expect people to tell an orphaned child. We never see a single one of her friends or any of her accomplishments, unlike the marauders who became animagi, created a map and communication mirrors. There’s also a scene where they are shown looking bored during an exam where they know they’ll be getting easy O’s. We even see how smart Severus was thanks to the half blood prince, but there’s nothing that shows any of the positive character traits for Lily. Characters I’m conflicted about. - Severus Snape. He spent six years belittling Harry but redeemed himself at the end of his life. I’m not sure how I feel about him, sometimes I like him other times I don’t, depending on what I’m reading. - Remus Lupin. He shows up during Harry’s third year and reveals his true identity using his condition to excuse his lack of presence in Harry’s life. But once the year is over, he sort of disappears and doesn’t even bother staying in touch with Harry. Seeing how close the marauders were, his lack of concern is odd at best. His friends risked their lives to better his and had he died I’m pretty sure that like Harry later did, James and Sirius would have included his son in their lives. Honestly, his self pity was bothersome after a while, Tonks should have partnered up with a less pathetic character. - Dumbledore. I’m not sure what to make of him. He was clearly a manipulative megalomaniac, but sometimes I feel that he was simply misguided. Other times I believe that he truly was evil. Characters I absolutely love. - Sirius Black. I cried when he died and I dearly hoped that he’d show up again but that never happened. There was so much wasted potential with his character that it was a pity to see him go. Especially since Harry hardly spent any time with him. - Neville Longbottom. He never fawned over Harry and Harry ignored him when he mentioned having a similar childhood to his growing up. He was ignored when he took down Malfoy’s gorillas and ended up in the hospital wing. No one bothered visiting him, Harry was busy listening to Ron gloat about taking down skinny little Draco. He went to the ball with Ginny, a girl he didn’t have feelings towards and still had a good time. Unlike Ron and Harry who were constantly shown miserable, he helped Harry during the second task and once again at the ministry and both times he was left at the back burner. He became the protector of Hogwarts when the trio disappeared and did his best to keep everyone safe. And most importantly, he stepped forward and challenged Voldemort when everyone believed that Harry was dead. Harry’s best friends, Ron and Hermione and his girlfriend Ginny stood quietly watching the show. But it was Neville who truly proved that he was a true Gryffindor and an asset to boot. - Draco Malfoy. I like him, I know he’s flawed but I don’t think he’s evil. He only joined Voldemort because his family’s safety was at jeopardy. I do believe, that had Harry shook his hand on the train Draco would have become Harry’s Sirius. In fact, most of my stories will have Harry, Neville and Draco as the golden trio. I just feel that with Neville and Draco, Harry would find two brothers, people who’d have his back no matter what. - Harry Potter. I like him too but he was dealt a really bad hand. I like powerful, independent, resourceful Harry. Not canon, I know. But I’ve read fics that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and hope to write about him in a way that betters his life. So as you can see, my stories all have a similar theme when it comes to characters. The pairings I’ll mostly write about are Harry-Daphne, Neville-Susan mostly) and Draco-Male or Draco-Female. I’m not sure if I’ll write a Draco-Harry pairing, I’m leaving that on the back burner for now. Mia Bella will be updated at least once every 2 weeks.
