Sorry to everyone who reads this fic. Yes, I know, It has been twenty days since the last chapter. I was taking a break from the internet pretty much and therefore didn't post a chapter. I know it was a bit of shit time to do so since the October holidays and shit like that. Anyway, I'm back now but I won't promise a definite release schedule since the last time I did that I was even more delayed than usual.
Anyway, that's enough from me please enjoy the chapter!
'What is this?'
'Blurry images? Strange looking people? A large dragon looking creature?'
'Ah… is that Shaula?'
Subaru's mind was in a state of dreariness. He wasn't truly aware of anything around him and everything felt like it was as if he was in a dream. Wait, no, it was a dream.
Actually, even that was incorrect, what Subaru was experiencing now were…. Memories.
He felt as if he was simply looking at the past–a past he had experienced. He remembered everything he felt, saw, smelled, tasted and touched as if the memory was only from the day before.
But what he remembered more than anything else was an incredibly strong and overwhelming emotion: sorrow. He felt it, that feeling within his heart. The feeling of utter despair and sorrow. Sorrow was not the only strong emotion swirling within him, guilt and many more were also there, but sorrow was the most overbearing.
As he tried to lift his head to see the cause of his sorrow, he realized his body felt drastically different from what it usually felt like–it felt stronger, more durable. The sheer power that he could feel flowing within him felt surreal to him. 'Why is my body like this…?' Subaru could not find the reason why, but that was not important right now. What was important was the fact that even though he tried, he could not lift his head.
Ah, this was indeed a memory so any action his 'past self' did not take would not be taken. It seemed his 'past self's' head would not move up as his gaze remained downcast.
He could not look up at the three individuals in front of him. One could certainly be identified as Shaula due to the lack of clothing but the other two: the upright man who emanated an aura of power and gigantic lizard-like creature in front of him was unrecognizable.
Their images were blurry and Shaula's lower half was the only one that he could clearly see. He only saw her lower half due to his downcast gaze.
As he continued to look down, someone finally spoke up.
"…..."
It seemed Shaula was the one who spoke up due to the high pitch feminine voice. Well, it could have been the dragon-like creature but Subaru doubted it had a voice like that.
Subaru could hear the young girl talking to his 'past self.' He didn't understand most of what she said; most of it came out as a cacophony of nearly incomprehensible words to him. It sounded as if he was listening to her talk whilst his head was under a pool of water. There was no point in making any guesses and the context was completely unknown to him so it was unlikely for him to pick anything up from the mess of words that came from the girl's mouth.
Soon after the 'past Shaula' finished speaking, Subaru could feel the muscles that controlled his own jaw moving, obviously meaning he was now speaking. It was a strange feeling, it felt unnatural to move his jaw as if he was moving it in a way in which it wasn't supposed to.
And also, he could not hear his voice.
However, he could see Shaula gain a complicated expression on her face as he felt his mouth stop moving. What had he said? What had she said?
Well, he wouldn't know for now.
Subaru had begun to open his eyes.
He was instantly aware, yet not at the same time.
Where was he? What was he? Who was he? Questions like these flooded the mind of the young boy as his consciousness came back to him.
However, that did not last long as he soon regathered his sense of self. He previously felt empty as if his very own brain or soul was missing, an essential component of what made him 'him'. But now, he felt a rush of emotion, memories and senses flooding into him like a river gently flowing towards the ocean.
It was not a violent recalling; his sense of self gently flowed and filled the empty space within him calmly and soundly. It filled a metaphorical container that could be said to be his mind, reaching right to the top before stopping. His sense of self sat perfectly within said container–if even a drop of anything else fell into it, it would surely overflow.
That was how perfectly it sat there.
Seemingly unconsciously registering this fact Subaru heaved a deep sigh after completely becoming 'himself'.
Beginning to become aware of himself once again, he stretched outwards. Not only had he been knocked unconscious by a strange girl, but he had also experienced the shock of suddenly being in a completely different place.
Subaru was still concerned about this–how the hell did he even get here? He must have thought this so many times that he began to question even his own questioning, which was yet another strange experience for Subaru.
His mind was in a constant cycle of contemplation and deep thought. The mind of the young boy was still struggling to comprehend the situation he was in; it was hard to grasp for Subaru.
Even though he thought and thought–on and on–it made no difference. He would have to seek out the information that would be required to fill the gap in his knowledge.
Letting out a long and drawn out yawn Subaru finally sat up.
"…. Hm? I feel like I… just had a dream, a strange dream. Well… I can't remember a single bit of it so there's no point in thinking about it. Anyway, where am I? Am I… in a bed?"
He began to try and move out of the place he was sitting in and discovered that he had been placed in a bed, much to his surprise.
His speech was slightly slurred and slow due to him still in the process of waking up and obviously being tired.
'Ah! I remember now!' After thinking for a while Subaru finally recalled the events from before he found himself in the bed he was currently in.
He remembered the energetic girl he had met only a few hours ago, and how she led him out to a balcony… where he realised the reality of his situation.
He was no longer in the streets of his local area within Japan–he was sure he wasn't even in Japan anymore. What met his gaze instead as he eyed the landscape below the balcony was a sea of endless sand. Unlike when he was in Japan where the pitch-black night sky was present, the scorching sun radiated its intense light and heat upon the large and expansive desert.
Subaru was one hundred percent sure that there were no deserts like this in Japan, so the only conclusion he could make was that he was simply no longer in his home country.
Even looking at the building the balcony jutted out from, he could clearly see the differing architecture from Japan. In fact, he had never even seen a building like this among any structure in the world.
It was simply an incredibly tall tower. It didn't seem to rival the incredibly tall Burj Khalifa in Dubai, currently the tallest building in the world, but was still impressive in its own right. Its structure was much more unique and complex so the fact that such a unique and complex structure could reach so high within the sky was incredibly impressive.
However, ruminating on this still didn't explain to the boy how he ended up in this place. He remembered that he asked the girl, Shaula, many questions that his mind was desperately seeking out.
However, as he asked more and more questions and got more and more answers, his mind only became more and more clouded and confused.
He had asked what country he was in only for her to answer him with the name of a completely unknown country. He could have just never heard of said country even though he was quite confident when it came to his geographical knowledge. On top of not knowing where he was, he was quite panicked and stressed out since, well, he had absolutely no idea where he was so he concluded that his mind was simply too strained to work in peak condition. So, he asked for the names of neighbouring countries to see if he recognized them instead.
What he got in return were also the names of unknown countries. One of them was called 'Vollachia empire' and he was sure that there were no existing empires in the modern age so that left the boy even more confused. Plus he most likely would have heard of such an empire before if it did actually exist.
When he skipped over those types of questions and asked more of a different nature, he was left even more confused.
The girl called Shaula often prattled on about a lot, going into incredible detail, which didn't really fit her apparent air-headed nature from before. Her drawn-out explanations often left Subaru worn out from simply hearing them.
He sometimes heard outrageous things mixed in with her explanations; referring to a dragon, which Subaru only ever heard mention of in fantasy stories, as an 'overgrow lizard' and an apparent sword saint as a 'stick swinger.' Also, Shaula kept referring to him as a 'sage' for some unknown reason as well.
When he tried to refute her claims of him being a so-called 'sage', she mostly ignored him and kept referring to him as such and often called herself his apprentice.
He tried to remember past that point but his memory came to a halt. It seemed he had asked a surprising amount of questions and by the time Shaula finished her drawn-out lecture he had quickly collapsed into the nearest bed and fell asleep. He was absolutely drained from the shock and exhaustion of the day. What else could he do?
And that was where his memory cut off.
In all honesty, Subaru was surprised by his ability to accurately remember every minute detail of the day before, even right before he fell asleep. It seemingly popped up out of nowhere, but to Subaru, this wasn't dissatisfying in the slightest and actually made him kind of joyful, so there was no need to worry about it.
Anyway, that was beside the point. What really woke up Subaru and drew his attention out of the gutter was the strange tugging weight he felt on his left arm. He didn't notice it when he was stretching simply due to how out of it he was.
Turning his eyes down to investigate, he suddenly froze in place. What met his curious gaze was the young girl from the day before… tightly nuzzling his arm. She had wrapped herself around it without leaving any room for escape.
Plus, she was wearing his tracksuit. He had only just realised it but he had been missing it.
'At least I know where it is now… As if! What the hell is this situation! I've definitely seen this trope before, I mean come on!'
Subaru was desperately trying to keep quiet. He didn't want to wake up the already teasing girl; even if she wasn't aware of her actions this was still too much! He was dreading what would happen if he was unfortunate enough to wake her.
And just as that thought came to his mind, the girl made a yawning sound and began to shuffle in her soon to end sleep.
"...mmggh, ah master? You're already awake?" Shaula spoke whilst holding back a yawn as she lifted her head up to face Subaru.
Subaru didn't utter a word. It seemed he was still in a state of extreme shock.
"Huh? Are you alright master?"
The brown-haired girl leaned in closer as if to examine Subaru. Subaru hadn't moved an inch since he had realized the girl was clinging onto him–staring at the girl in disbelief he had said nothing.
But then he realized that if he left her as is, Shaula would only become progressively more erotic somehow. She was already lying in the same bed as him, clinging onto his arm, but it could get much, much worse.
The only saving grace in this situation was that she was actually covering up more than usual as she had Subaru's tracksuit on. He couldn't tell if it was lucky or unlucky that his tracksuit was being worn by the girl. However, it was a much better outcome than what could've been.
After taking all of this into account Subaru decided to swallow down his anxiety and tried to diffuse the situation as best as he could. This was all too stimulating for the seventeen-year-old boy who had only seen things such as this in manga or anime.
"W-W-What a-are you doing? W-Why are y-you in the same bed as me?" Subaru almost smacked himself due to the jumbled mess that his sentence came out as. He had a feeling that if the girl noticed his bashful way of speaking she would only strive to tease him further.
And that's exactly what she did.
"Hmm? What were you thinking master? I just haven't slept in four hundred years, but since this was a special occasion I decided to sleep with you, master! Unless… you have something else you want to do~… huh?"
Shaula was quite shocked. In fact, most people would probably be shocked.
As Shaula had finished her teasing, it took a while to register within Subaru's brain; once it did, however, he immediately took action. He had previously been wrapped in Shaula's arms but now, he had somehow managed to expertly slip his way out of her grasp, immediately jumping off of the bed and standing about two metres away. His back shot up straight and he wore an incredibly serious expression.
"No."
"Huh, what do you mean master"
"I must protect my innocence at all costs."
This was the only way Subaru could keep both his innocence and dignity. If he acted embarrassed or bashful the girl would only tease him more, so he had to keep the most stone-cold, straight face as possible.
And since he was so quick to act, he had completely missed the part where she said she hadn't slept in four hundred years. Besides, even if he heard her he would simply pass it off as another one of her pranks.
"You're no fun master~. It was only a joke." Pouting, Shaula slumped back down, disappointment clearly showing on her face.
"Well, if you're pulling things like that it's both hard to tell that it's a joke and too far. Besides, I've only just met you, you shouldn't do stuff like that with a stranger."
"Master~! Stop saying that, have you really forgotten me!?" Staring at the boy, almost distraught, Shaula cried out to Subaru.
Of course for Subaru, he had no memory of this girl prior to being in the watchtower, so all of her ramblings were quite confusing. However, Shaula had just seen her 'master' after four hundred years just to see that he has forgotten about her. Who wouldn't be distraught?
"As I said- hah~ never mind. Anyway, Shaula, you still haven't given me a clear answer. Where the hell am I?"
"I've told you time and time again master but you just won't listen! We're in the Pleiades watchtower okay! Get that into your brain master~!"
"I still don't know what that is…" Subaru exclaimed as he continued to have an indifferent look on his face.
"How! Master, if even I have a better memory than you then I seriously worry for the future." Shaula had left this slightly insulting remark towards Subaru in an attempt to motivate him to remember. If he knew that he was even more of an airhead than the airhead Shaula he would surely strive to remember as much as he could.
Yet he still couldn't.
"I don't know what to say. No matter how many times you tell me, I've never been to this place and I have no memory of it or you."
"Hmph! I'll never forgive you, master!"
"But I didn't even do anything…." Subaru muttered quietly as his voice trailed off.
In truth, Subaru really had done nothing wrong. How could he remember a place he's never been to and a person he's never met? To Subaru, these were just unreal expectations that he would never meet as long as he was himself.
However, for Shaula, these things were things that she expected him to know off by heart without even wavering. She had expected Subaru to greet her with a hug and tell her how much he missed her; instead, she was given the cold shoulder and was apparently even forgotten by Subaru.
To Subaru, he was obviously the one who was correct, but the same could be said for Shaula. A normal Japanese teenager, the amazing and all-powerful great sage–Subaru's view of himself and Shaula's view of him could be said to be greatly contrasting.
Who was right? Who was wrong? Perhaps both were right and wrong.
If either of the two thought like this they would be in deep thought for days, maybe even weeks on end. There was simply no correct answer. Subaru could not say for sure that he wasn't this so-called great sage since Shaula had memories of him being one. Whereas Shaula could not say for sure that he wasn't a normal teenage boy since Subaru had no memory of being anything but this, although she would not have thought this as she was too dense to consider this. Or maybe loyal or unwavering would be the right word.
But because Subaru was confident in his own identity and Shaula was confident in her view of him, neither of the two even began to consider these options.
Both simply thought, 'I'm the one who is right!' and didn't bother to consider any other option. After all, Subaru would not doubt his own sense of self and Shaula would not doubt her memories with her master that had been built over countless years.
That was the reality of the situation.
Perhaps Subaru would come to 'remember' his apparent past or Shaula would come to see that Subaru wasn't really her master, but only time would tell…
Without even realising the serious identity crisis Subaru could be having right now if he only trusted the girl's words more, he broke the silence that had enveloped the room for some time now.
"Anyway, what the hell are you doing with my tracksuit! I would greatly appreciate it if you gave it back you know!"
"Well, master looked like he was boiling alive so I took it off of you, and it looked lonely so I put it on, okay~"
"What sort of reasoning is that!?"
"it's the sort of reasoning that is perfectly normal master~" Shaula fired back as she grasped the tracksuit that she wore and embraced the fine cloth it was made of.
"Well, it doesn't look like I'm going to get it back any time soon, hah~ at least don't do anything weird with it."
"Sure thing. Thank you for the treat!" Shaula shouted out as she took in a huge whiff of Subaru's tracksuit.
"Oh god"
Subaru watched as the girl partook in her odd actions and silently cringed. He was slightly disturbed since he didn't know her at all but he took into consideration her speed and power from before when she dragged him to the balcony and came to the conclusion that it was impossible to take back his tracksuit by force.
She seemed superhuman. In fact, she was superhuman. It was to the point where the 'human' part was almost not there other than the girl's appearance and attitude. Subaru didn't even know how he survived being dragged through the hallway by the lioness Shaula, maybe he was strange too?
Plus, with the inclusion of her talking about things like spirits, magic and dragons, Subaru had come to the conclusion that-
"Another world, huh?" Subaru muttered to himself. It was so inaudible that his voice didn't even come out as a whisper.
"What do you mean, master?"
'Holy shit her hearing is good' Subaru thought to himself in surprise. He would never have expected someone to hear him since it was as if he didn't even speak. Plus, he had mostly muttered it so even if he was loudly it would still be hard to understand. This girl, Shaula, always somehow blows expectations out of the water.
"Oh, it was nothing, just talking to myself."
"Whatever you say, master~" Shaula wasn't convinced but turned away anyway. She was now sitting idly, humming to herself. She radiated a feeling of joy and glee
Anyway, back to the point, Subaru had come to the conclusion that he was in another world based on the pile of evidence that was right in front of him. How could he come to any other conclusion when everything is pointing towards it?
Many would be in despair over their sudden transmigration to another world, being ripped away from their friends, family and daily life on earth. However, Subaru reacted quite the opposite.
'Holy crap! I can't believe it. Will I get to use magic? Maybe there are adventurer guilds and a demon lord too!' He silently celebrated so as to not disturb the girl sitting only a few metres away from him.
If she heard him shout such things out loud she would surely tease him and she would make him feel like an idiot which was something he didn't want, especially from Shaula who was the biggest airhead he has met in his life. He had only met her a few hours ago and already considers her as such.
Anyway, Subaru tried to use some sort of magic or feel the energy within him or some crap like that yet felt nothing. The only noticeable effects that he had since entering this new world was a headache and an empty stomach.
Speaking of an empty stomach, a loud growling noise emerged from Subaru. He only just realised, but the instant noodles and chips that he bought from the store would have been his first meal of the day. It's obvious that you shouldn't follow such a bad example and eat three meals a day if possible, stay healthy people!
Upon hearing the low grumble, Shaula turned her head towards Subaru and looked at him questioningly.
"Master are you hungry?"
"…. no?" Subaru tried to deny it due to his embarrassment. Yet to no avail since his stomach once again rumbled, demanding something–anything.
"Don't worry master I've had a lot of alone time to practise my cooking skills so I'm sure I can make a meal to suit your taste buds!"
"Based on what I've seen of you so far, I don't think I can trust just your judgement alone." Subaru blurted out that half-joking but half true remark as if by instinct. It seemed the two's back and forth joking had already become a habit for Subaru.
"Wha-! I'll have you know that once when that stick swinger Reid took some of the ma-beast drumsticks I made for master one time he said that it was so disgusting that it- Wait no that wasn't a compliment… Never mind that! The point is that I'm a good cook okay!"
"Whatever you say…"
"I one hundred percent am okay! Master is so mean sometimes~" Shaula pouted as she finally gave up.
"Anyway, if you're such a master chef how about we have something to eat then!" Subaru said energetically as he made his way to the door.
"Wait, I don't know where the kitchen is. Do you even have a kitchen?"
"Of course you should know this master. Follow me."
Subaru quickly accepted his situation. He knew that since he was in another world he had nowhere else to go. The only person he could rely on in this new and unknown place was the girl right in front of him.
He would surely spend a lot of time with her so it would probably be best to get along with her sooner rather than later.
"Dinner is ready master!"
"I'm pretty sure it's the morning but okay."
Shaula came back into what seemed to be a dining room where Subaru was sitting on a simple wooden chair in front of a small rectangular table. She had a plate with a metal dome over it covering the food. It looked like something a waiter would come out with in a restaurant, well the outwards appearance did anyway.
"Hey, aren't you going to eat anything? I only see one plate." Subaru voiced out his concerns but the girl quickly replied.
"Oh don't worry. Master seems to have memory problems, I don't need to eat as much as humans, remember~"
"Right…" Subaru's voice trailed off as he realised she may very well not need to eat. He was in a different world and she had already displayed unrealistic displays of speed and strength so it could even be expected that she didn't need things such as food. Plus, the fact that she said 'humans' made him think she wasn't one. Maybe she really wasn't.
He hadn't heard at the time, but she also said that she hadn't slept in four hundred years so not needing food was probably the least outrageous thing about the girl.
Shaula made her way across to where Subaru was sitting and placed the plate with the metal dome in front of him onto the table. It seemed to have some weight to it as it clunked down to the table, which made Subaru slightly excited as he anticipated what it could be.
He had teased the girl earlier by saying he didn't believe she was a good cook but in reality, he actually had no evidence that could suggest she was a bad cook. He had only met her recently after all. Thus he didn't really believe she was a bad cook but didn't have any expectations either. Her attitude just gave Subaru the idea she wasn't a good cook, which wasn't really any good reason to think so but Subaru couldn't help it.
At most he believed she might have the skill of a typical home cook–not amazing enough to be found in a high-class restaurant but good enough that any normal person would consider it to be delicious. However, even that assessment was incredibly far from the truth.
As Shaula lifted up the metal lid from the plate, Subaru instantly caught the smell of something burnt coming from where the plate was. As the lid rose higher and higher the smell grew thicker and thicker, filling up the room and Subaru's nose.
It was as if time was moving in slow motion. As The lid slowly moved upwards Subaru began to despair as he realised what was under it.
'Oh god, it's been completely scorched. She really is a bad cook!' Subaru kept that to himself as he grimaced in the face of his new challenging opponent.
A pile of burnt… meat? Well, that's what it seemed to be but it was almost completely unrecognizable so it could be something completely different. The pile of meat that couldn't even be called food looked to be almost ash and was completely black in colour. Either Shaula lack even a single ounce of aptitude for cooking at all, never mind skill, or to her this was normal.
Even though she didn't eat as much, she occasionally did since she said she practised her cooking and that even she wasn't free from the effects of starvation. He almost didn't believe it after seeing this but then he remembered that the girl was superhuman–no, she was beyond that. She probably had an iron stomach in order to eat this. Well, he could believe that.
Shaula looked back to Subaru with excitement to see his reaction but then tilted her head in confusion towards him.
"What's wrong master? Are you not going to eat it? I made it specially for you, you know~"
Subaru gulped as he saw the face of the girl, beneath her confusion he could clearly tell she was ecstatic and waiting with excitement and anticipation for him to take the first bite.
"N-nothing is wrong… Anyway, what… is this?" Subaru thought to himself that he couldn't shatter such an innocent smile that was so full of glee, so he made a swift lie to cover over his nervousness. Shaula once again didn't pick up on Subaru's expression; that wasn't due to Subaru's own efforts but it was because she was extremely bad at reading the expressions of others. She was incredibly inexperienced with social situations and knew not a single social cue after all.
Without taking any notice of Subaru, Shaula quickly answered the question that came from Subaru.
"Can't you tell? It's a fresh ma-beast tenderloin with sand to add some texture."
'What! There's sand in it! I couldn't even tell. And just because you make it sound complex doesn't mean the food will taste nice!' Subaru once again kept his internal thoughts to himself.
"O-Okay… Thank you for the meal-" Subaru said, his voice clearly portraying his anxiety. However, Shaula still didn't pick up on it.
Subaru brought a shaky hand to a piece of the pile and grabbed it. He didn't have any chopsticks, or anything to use really but felt like he shouldn't complain.
He snapped the piece of 'meat' that he grabbed off of the pile. He thought to himself that he was brittle. It snapped off and felt like a brick of dry noodles but more 'powdery.'
Subaru often heard in his old world that burnt food was unhealthy but decided to take the plunge anyway and sunk his teeth into the black chunk of 'meat.'
Trying not to let the taste remain for too long in his mouth he quickly swallowed it down. He had eaten burnt meat before and knew it tasted terrible, but it wasn't something unbearable. Anyone could manage to force it down as long as they didn't mind the lingering after taste afterwords.
'Even still this is too much-' Subaru desperately tried to keep the food down within his stomach, but his body kept violently refusing it. 'Meat doesn't taste this bad right' He thought to himself.
He was confused most of all. Burnt meat was incredibly unpleasant to eat, but it had never been this bad. Maybe it was because he has never eaten meat this thoroughly burnt, but that was still strange. Even if it was just from it being too burnt, it still wouldn't taste this bad. Thinking this Subaru came to a realisation.
'It's not that it's burnt it's the meat itself-!' Realising this, Subaru finally understood that it was hopeless and finally released his hold on the food within him and let his body expel it. He doubted that he would be able to eat it even if I wasn't burnt if the meat tasted this disgusting.
Hurling out all of the contents of his stomach, Subaru landed face first in his puke that was covering the table in defeat. After trying to eat food to become less hungry, he ended up throwing up and being even more hungry than before.
Noticing the irony of his situation, Subaru let out a self-deprecating laugh.
"wha-! Are you okay master!" Whilst Subaru had his face in his puke, Shaula panicked as she tried to figure out what was wrong with her master.
"Sorry… I don't think I can eat this." Subaru leaked out a small voice so Shaula at least knew he was alive.
"That doesn't matter master! I'll help you get cleaned up, I'll carry you."
"ugh… yeah. Thanks, Shaula." Subaru groaned as he lifted himself up and stood up.
Shaula said she would carry him but he was only sick so she really didn't need to. However, even though Subaru tried to move away she didn't take no for an answer and Subaru was caught in a force piggyback ride somehow.
"Oh, I got your tracksuit dirty as well. Well, we can clean that too."
Subaru didn't really enjoy the situation he was in right now. According to Subaru's knowledge, the situation should have been the other way round.
'This day is the worst…'
The two continued on down the hallway.
Subaru was yet again sitting in the bed that he started the day in. It turned out that Shaula was the one who owned the bed, but she didn't seem to use it so she let Subaru use it instead.
He was sitting upright while slurping on the noodles that he had bought from the store before being sent to this world. He was still incredibly hungry so he had asked Shaula to get some boiling water so he could at least eat something. He decided to save his chips for another time since it didn't look like he could eat anything here.
Shaula had somehow fallen asleep again, leaning onto the side of the bed. Even though she claimed that she hadn't slept in nearly four hundred years she seemed like quite the sleeper.
Subaru turned to look at Shaula and caught sight of her face. A calm and gentle smell adorned it.
As he saw that he felt something in his chest. Even though she wasn't his type, he did acknowledge that she was quite attractive and even suspected that he might fall for her if he spends enough time with her since they seem compatible enough. However, what he felt wasn't love, it was guilt.
From seemingly nowhere and without a visible source, Subaru felt guilt as he glanced at the peacefully sleeping girl.
Lets go chapter 3 is done! The next chapter is going to progress a little faster than this one just a disclaimer.
Anyway, it's getting closer to the fateful encounter with the witch cult and knight division. What will happen? Who knows.
Also, I might release a chapter tomorrow night for a new fic that will be spooky. Not really just thinking about focussing on vampires and shit so that'll be fun to write.
