Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or Avengers.
It took me a while to understand there was even a problem. One of the downsides of being a magical soul sucking dragon that hungers for souls is that I keep away from cities unless I'm hunting. This makes it a little difficult to watch the news.
Thankfully I have other sources. In this case the The blue glowing cube gave off an enormous amount of power. One which made me curious enough to investigate. And boy was I surprised. First gods, now aliens. Coming to this world was definitely the right decision.
I tuck my wings and dive as I spot my first target. A giant floating snake-whale. It doesn't keep floating for long and slams into the top of a condo. Unfurling my wings I raise myself up from my downed opponent and roar. My animagus instincts are at their peak now, anticipation of battle making it difficult to hold back my dementia powers but I manage. I'll have to stick to my animagus form and spells for this fight.
I leap off my prey and fall down in between the builds as my wings spread and mouth opens wide to unleash a breath of flame. The jetski-like riders burn up and smash into the surrounding buildings and streets below. This is going to be messy. But then again, this is war.
I can see a man in an armoured suit flying around firing beams of energy and small rockets. I also recognize Thor standing atop a skyscraper like some sort of bug zapper against the invaders.
As interesting as some of these unique individuals are I manage to focus on my own self given task of engaging the invaders. Another snake-whale, now in my grip as I pull it upward and pull open its maw to receive my gift of dragon fire straight down its throat. My wings covering in shields as more jetbikes circle to fire upon me. A flick of my tail causes two to be banished into a building as my mouth opens again to unleash red light that causes two more to explode. No one expects the massive dragon to throw spells.
As the battle goes on I begin to see the toll it takes on the citizens as I start to regain my senses enough to notice. I divert some of my attention to using my magic to help them. Summoning enemy troops off the ground and into the air to be clawed with a cutting spell released from my talons. In other cases I raise and animate golems to head into buildings. Cast flame freezing and bubble head charms.
But as strong as my saving people thing is, it doesn't stop me from sampling the souls of my enemies. And they are disgusting even if sustaining. It's like they are deformed or in pieces. They remind me of Voldemort really.
Regardless of the fun I was having, this war couldn't last. The heroes were faltering and I couldn't protect people in the city myself. It was just too large. This portal had to close and apparently the God of Mischief is the only one who knew how. Maybe I'll get that new body after all.
I stalk my target while invisible as he heads towards the tower. Thinking on it, I definitely can't fight him in the city. It would defeat the entire purpose of trying to cut off the head, so to speak. I also don't know how Thor will react to me feasting on his brother's soul. Things could get awkward there. Best to grab him and apparate someplace where I can let loose and not worry about casualties.
It wasn't hard to find him. He obviously wanted to be the center of attention. Broadcasting his location and actions like that. Almost like he wanted to be caught really. Maybe he had a death wish. Or maybe he was confident his brother couldn't, or more likely, wouldn't kill him. Or maybe he just had a way out. He was the God of Mischief after all. All the more reason to separate him from his army and any possible contingencies.
Catching him off guard wasn't that hard. Disarming him in that moment without allowing him to escape my grasp, however, took a bit of finesse. I wove a disarming spell into my tail as my talons channeled a body binding spell as I caught him in my grip. This bought me a moment I needed to apparate us to the Nevada desert, leaving his scepter behind. After seeing him use it to fire blue bolts I wasn't going to let him use it on me if I could help it, and I could do exactly that.
The Nevada desert was the perfect battleground. Often used for weapons testing it is covered in large unpopulated areas that could absorb the destructive spells and impacts that a battle of this type will undoubtedly cause. That's about as far as I got into my plan before we roughly slammed into the dirt and he slipped from my grasp.
Illusions appeared all around me as he studied my form. Clearly I wasn't anticipated. It must be truly frustrating to have a wild card show up and disrupt his plans. Probably why each of his copies have cute little daggers in their hands. Not sure what those are expected to do. It could be a problem if he goes for my eyes though.
Looks like he's about to monologue. This is actually kind of comforting. Familiar territory and all. At this point I've long learned to take advantage of these openings and I unleash my dragonfire towards the genuine article, the only Loki with a soul. Bypassing his illusions completely.
I can hear his screams of frustration as I hold my flames for a small length of time. At least until I feel a sharp pain in my throat. That puny god threw a dagger into my mouth! As my flames stop in shock I can see my target, now blue skinned, red eyed and very angry. But not as angry as me.
I dig deep into my mind and access the soul of the Abomination. Drawing out the gamma radiation into my cells and infusing it with my dragon animagus. My eyes glow emerald. My muscles and body expands. Large spikes and horns extend from my head and along my spine all the way to my tail as my talons and teeth grow large, longer and sharper than ever.
His look of anger turns to fear as I rush at him with a roar. No more spells. No more invisibility. Just pure carnage, violence and force. He attempts to dodge a claw and gets slapped from another angle by my tail. He attempts to flee and gets his cape yanked by my talons. He attempts to get back up only for my teeth to piece his leg as I lift him up and smash him down, again and again. In the end my devouring his soul really was a mercy.
That's when I learned about the two Infinity Gems I left back in New York and under the watchful eyes of at least two spy organizations, Asgard, and Thanos, just wonderful.
Author's Note: Killing off Loki is the only real play here. Otherwise you don't really impact the story much at all. Now at least half the chapters are directly impacted by the loss of Loki, and the potential conflict with Thor and Odin. With no Loki to help Thor survive the Dark Elves or call down the rainbow bridge for Hela. Change is inevitable.
