James/Regulus - Regulus falls in the lake and James is more than happy to help warm him up, and maybe steal a kiss too.

"I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be in here, James," Regulus mumbled.

Sniffling slightly he shuffled into the Gryffindor common room behind his brother's best friend. He scanned the room, taking in the vibrant crimson and mildly gaudy gold decor. It was rich and luxurious, but to Regulus it was missing elegance.

"Well, I'm Head Boy, and I say it's allowed." James cheerfully shoved him towards the empty sofa, perfectly placed in front of the roaring fireplace to ensure optimum heat and comfort during the chillier months. "Sit down and warm yourself up, I can't have you catching a cold and suffering through Christmas."

"Sirius won't hurt you if I get a cold James, and it's not like I'm planning on being miserable throughout winter. I rather like Christmas don't you know," Regulus grumbled as he began to tug off his soaked jumper. The material clung to him as water dripped onto the carpet.

"I told him I wouldn't let any harm come to you," James muttered, shaking his head as he wrapped a thick crimson blanket around Regulus' shivering figure. With the utmost care he draped Regulus in the blanket, only his head managing to escape the cocoon. "But of course you had to find some way to cause trouble. Falling into the lake in the middle of winter isn't exactly recommended, by the way."

"I didn't bloody well mean to fall in, you idiot," Regulus said. His voice was muffled as he buried his face into the blanket, the warmth from the fireplace seeping into his chilled bones. He had been too busy trying to get a head start on his Charms homework when a rogue snowball had smacked him in the head. Somehow the shock had sent him reeling, and he'd managed to stumble his way into the Black Lake; the water had been freezing as expected in the middle of winter. Before embarrassment had set in however, James had made a heroic rescue, scooping him out of the lake and draping Regulus in his cloak.

"Of course you didn't, anyway warm your arse up by the fire while I grab you some clothes," James swiftly kissed the stunned boy on the lips before sauntering towards the staircase leading to the boys dormitory. "By the way, there's much easier ways to get my attention sweetheart. But don't worry, you caught it."

Regulus couldn't move, stunned by the boldness of James' actions. He definitely didn't hate the kiss, in fact, it was rather enjoyable, albeit quite brusque in its manner.

"Just so you know," Regulus called up the stairs, positive James could hear him. "If you'd bloody asked I'd have happily given you a snog you cheeky bastard."

James' raucous laughter could be heard across the whole of the Gryffindor tower in response.
