![]() Author has written 2 stories for Rurouni Kenshin. Announcement (4/6/08): It's a miracle; I finally updated Son of the Shadows RK Style. Isn't that wonderful news? I certainly think so. My life is starting to get back on track and my muse is getting the inspiration it needs. Yipee! I look forward to all of your comments and input. Ja ne! Profile Name: Miharu Kawashi Name: Jennifer (If you want to call me by my real name, Jen please!) Nick Name: Jen, Miharu (Japanese name), Genevieve (French name), Gigi (nick for Genevieve), Mae Lin (Chinese name), Liadan (Irish name. There's a long, complicated story behind this name so if you really want to know you'll have to ask), and Fur- Fur Luise (childhood nick name from little brother). Birthdate: 1/20/85 Age: 23 Current City: San Francisco School: San Francisco State University Major: Asian American Studies (Child Adolescent Development was too impacted) Minor: Still deciding if I should switch to Child Adolescent development Favorite Bands/ Singers/ Musicians: Nirvania, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Gorillaz, The Mars Volta, Rammstein (What can I say? I need my daily dose of German angst. As if I don't get enough of that already!), Gackt, Malice Mizer, David Bowie, Muse, Gorillaz, Soundgarden, Hankshaw, Marilyn Manson, BB King, Muse, Do As Infinity, Old Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra in case you are unfimilar with the nick name), The Beatles, Glay, Eminem (older stuff), L'arc En Ciel (By the way, I love the name. I'm a French fanatic), Metallica, Mozart, Beethoven, Taku Iwasaki, Yoko Kanno, The Seatbelts, The Shins, Radiohead, Mai Yamane, Bright Eyes, The Cure, Korn, and Cake.(Not limited to or excluding others not mentioned. Bands/ musicians not mentioned in any specific order.) Favorite Color: Green (I guess I'm not all that fickle anymore cause green seems to be sticking. I'm cured!) Favorite Anime/ Manga: Rurouni Kenshin, Akira, Hana Kimi, 3X3 Eyes, Beauty is the Beast, Aizu Pure, Genshiken, Inuyasha, Hellsing, Wolf's Rain, Vampire Hunter D, Vampire Princess Miyu, Bartender, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, Spiral, Fruits Basket, Serial Experiments Lain, Scraped Princess, and Witch Hunter Robin. Favorite Characters of All Time: Seta, Soujiro (best bad guy turned good guy ever!), Myojin, Yahiko (how can you not enjoy the one character that represents Nobuhiro Watsuki?) Himura, Kenshin (he's so complex and beautiful), Kamiya, Kaoru (she's such a kick ass character), Liadan of The Seven Waters Trilogy (she is so strong and loyal), Valentine, Faye (she's such a bad ass that you have to love her), Bran of The Seven Waters Trilogy (so dark and mysterious), Wolfwood (sexy priest saving children, yum), Miroku (sexy monk who wants me to bear his children. Even better!), French Taunter in Holy Grail (Your mother was a Hamster and your father smelt of Elderberries), and most importantly The Knights Who Until Recently Said Ni (Ecky, Ecky, Ecky, Pakang, Zoom-ping!). Favorite Books/ Plays (an obsession I wish to share with the world): The Seven Waters Trilogy (favorite story of all time. Based off of a Germanic fairytale about a girl who must save her brothers who have been turned to swans), Hunchback of Notre Dame (angsty to the extreme), Jarhead (like the book more than the movie. That's very typical of me though), The Things They Carried (memoirs of a man who served in the Vietnam War. Don't be fooled when it's in the fiction section. I'm a firm believer that the stories are based off the author's platoon. You'd have to read it to understand what I'm talking about), Ringu (love the concept. Scary as hell!), Screaming Monkeys (collection of mainly Filipino American articles and stories), Black Swan (dark version of Swan Princess. I like modern takes on fairytales if you haven't noticed), Blood and Chocolate (angsty, I know!), The Testament (this book marked the beginning of my reading obsession. Books like that stick with you even when your author craze dies), Animal Farm (I love political satire), America the Book (Jon Stewart is a comic genius; at least I think so), Memoirs of a Geisha (it's one of those stories that sticks with you), No- No Boy (a must read for all those interested in Japanese American culture post WWII. This book changed my perspective on life forever), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (funniest book I have ever read), The Selfish Gene (for a science book, it's really well done. He actually has some humor and artistic style. Interesting read for those interested in genes and anthropology), Never Cry Wolf (great story about a man who followed Arctic Wolves. Based on the author's actual field study. I see Arctic Wolves in a whole new light now), What Every Person Should Know About War (if you know anyone or are yourself interested in joining the army you should read this book first. Questions and answers format for those who want to get straight to the point), Island of Bicycle Dancers (great story for those interested in the Korean population born in Japan), The Works of Shakespeare Abridged or The Word of God Abridged (this three man company is hilarious. They were driven out of the US for making fun of Shakespeare's work and are currently performing in London. It's quite strange! Check it out if you're in London or buy the screenplay), Metamorphoses (Ovid's collection of Roman tales are wonderful. They're so poetic), Twelfth Night (I love this play. Cross dressing is always fun!), Taming of the Shrew (it's so politically incorrect that I have to appreciate it) and Seventeen Syllables (collection of short stories about and created by Japanese Americans). Favorite Movies: Saved, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Princess Bride, Labyrinth, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Ghost in the Shell, The Breakfast Club, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, Akira, Vampire D: Bloodlust, The Village, The Dangerous Life of Alter Boys, Pan's Labyrinth, Au Revoir Les Enfants, The Dark Crystal, Band of Brothers, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, The Commitments, The Full Monty, Love Actually, House of Flying Daggers, Hero, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Dune, and 3X3 Eyes. |
