Mary Margaret held her cheek while looking up in shock at Kathryn. She wasn't blind, she could see everyone around them looking at the pair.
"Kathryn! What was that for?" She asked in an angry tone. Kathryn looked like she was running on pure anger but Mary Margaret had no idea why that anger was turned to her.
"What was that for? How about breaking up my marriage?" Mary Margaret looked whole heartedly confused and Kathryn just rolled her eyes. "Don't hide it now. Y'know I really thought that David and I could be friends. I had no clue he was sleeping with you behind my back!"
"Woah! Woah!" Mary Margaret took note of all the people around them. "How about we take thi-" Kathryn cut her off.
"Oh no! Why would I give you the luxury of moving this somewhere private?" Mary Margaret didn't know what to say. Her mind was going a hundred miles an hour. She couldn't piece together what David must have told Kathryn in order for her to have reacted like this.
"Kathryn! I have no idea what is going on between you and David but-"
"You don't?! I would think the view from our bed would give you a great idea!" Mary Margaret quickly pulled Kathryn into the nearest room. She had to make Kathryn understand without any more prying eyes, including those belonging to children. "Let me go!" Kathryn pulled away quickly and went to speak before Mary Margaret blurted out the only thing she could think of.
"I am dating a woman." Mary Margaret looked just as shocked as Kathryn did at the confession. It only took a few seconds before Kathryn recovered and if anything, looked even more angry.
"Then exactly how do you explain these?!" Kathryn tossed the photos in Mary Margaret's face. Mary Margaret scrambled to catch the photos before they fell to the ground. She was shocked to see photos from the night David kissed her on their walk.
"Yes, David kissed me but I can assure you that I very quickly shut him down." Kathryn did not look totally convinced. "I know that you have no reason to believe me but I truly have no interest in David."
Although Mary Margaret had managed to calm Kathryn, she couldn't be sure that Kathryn actually believed her at the end of it. All she wanted to do was get home and destress with her girlfriend. She convinced another teacher to stay for her after school duty and then began to make her way to the apartment.
As she entered, she knew she wanted to do something special for Emma so she got a quick shower then got to work. She made a quick lasagna that would rival granny's and quickly put the clothes away the two had been allowed to pile up. Then she got the battery operated candles that Emma had used previously and set them around the apartment. Mary Margaret thought the only thing missing was rose petals.
A quick glance at her watch showed her that she had just enough time to go to the flower shop to rectify that situation. As she made her way out of the apartment, she immediately began to get various looks. None of them the friendly ones she was accustomed to. After running into Granny, it was obvious that although she had calmed Kathryn down, everyone else in town had known about the accusation.
She had made it back in front of the apartment, roses in hand, when she saw David scrubbing at her car. She was in utter shock and the man had the audacity to try and talk to her!
"Don't! I do not want to hear it! I don't know what you told Kathryn but you had better fix this!"
With that, she ran into the apartment. Tossing the flowers by the door with her shoes and purse, she attempted to call Emma as she began to let the tears she had been holding back out. She made her way to their bed right as it went to voicemail. She tried again but the phone didn't even ring as it went straight to her voicemail.
Mary Margaret managed to send her a text before the tears and sobs took over her body as she curled up and snuggled into Emma's pillow.
Emma had been in the woods with August for the better part of the late afternoon and early evening. As the two finally made it back to Granny's, Emma was confused to see Ruby practically running out of the diner as August made his way back up the street.
"Woah! Ruby, what's wrong?" Emma asked as the other girl came to a stop in front of her.
"Have you talked to Mary Margaret?" Emma felt the panic immediately set in at that question.
"No? Why? Ruby what happened?!" Emma was pulling her phone out as she asked the frantic girl and tried to call the other woman, not even looking to see the missed calls and text from her girlfriend.
"Kathryn slapped her and accused her of sleeping with David." Ruby said quickly as Granny began making her way out of the diner.
"What?!" Emma asked but Ruby didn't get a chance to answer as Granny made her presence known.
"Mary Margaret would have never done anything like this before you came!" Emma was surprised at the tone the older woman was using. Emma held a hand up to the older woman which stopped anything else from coming out of her mouth.
"I can confirm that Mary Margaret has not slept with David." Granny did not look convinced while Ruby was looking around them to ensure no one else could hear the conversation that she was sure was probably going to take place.
"I don't mean to interrupt this but maybe-"
"And how can you be so sure?" Granny cut her granddaughter off.
"Guys let's talk insi-" This time it was Emma.
"Because I know her!"
"We really should go ins-" Neither woman seemed to care at this point that they were having this conversation on Main Street.
"I don't think you really do!" Granny crossed her arms over her chest thinking she had just won this debate when Emma took a deep breath. Then the blonde leaned in close to her face and harshly whispered out
"I know her well enough to have my head between her legs." The older woman took a step back as she gasped. Granny took pause at the lack of surprise on her granddaughter's face. "Now, I am going to ask you to keep that between us as I am sure Ruby will explain why but now I need to get home to my girlfriend."
With that, Emma turned and made her way towards the apartment. It was then she took notice of the missed calls and the text message that nearly made her take off into a sprint.
Please believe me, no else does and I am not sure I can take you hating me too.
I am so incredibly sorry!
My office manager quit without notice (due to family issues - still love her dearly) so I have been having to run my clinic alone while also dealing with my day to day stuff there which has left me absolutely dead.
This chapter has been written but I just could not find time to read over it and post it.
I would love to tell you that I will be posting more frequently but I JUST got someone in to start training last week so no promises yet.
