Thousands gathered in the Gotham University Football Stadium, and even more watched from their homes. In the middle of the stadium was an elevated boxing ring, with the entire ring covered in shadow.
An announcer, tall and in a tuxedo, stepped forward and into the middle of the ring. A spotlight shone onto him.
He brought a microphone up to his mouth and began to proclaim, "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world's first annual 'Supers versus Villains' tournament!"
The crowd cheered. Some holding up signs of the superhero or villain that they wanted to win.
The announcer continued, "In the Red Corner, weighing in at 152 pounds, the man who is bat shit crazy, JOKER!"
A spotlight shone on Joker. He waved and smiled at the crowd. The crowd varied in their cheers and booing. The majority were boos, and violent screams of rage, coming from either his victim or the family members of his victims.
The announcer then turned to the opposite end of the ring.
"And in the Blue Corner, weighing in at 316 pounds, the man who is crazy for bat shit, Batman!"
Another spotlight shown on Batman. He stepped forward to many cheers. Unfortunately, there were a few boos, coming from the Batman haters section.
"Now I want a nice clean fight. From both of you!" The announcer said.
"FIGHT!"
The whole ring was lit up, and Batman stepped forward, ready to fight. However, Joker on the other hand, didn't. As he had fallen to the floor of the ring, laughing hysterically. He was laughing so hard, he had tears trickling down his face.
He didn't put up any fight at all, when Batman stepped up to him, and then punched him in the jaw. Knocking him out.
"1! 2! 3!" the referee shouted. Banging his hand against the floor of the ring with each number he shouted.
"8! 9! 10! He's out!" the ref shouted.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! Batman!" the announcer proclaimed. When he went to grab Batman's arm to raise it in the air however, Batman glared at him. Telling him to back off with his eyes.
It worked.
The crowd cheered, along with the people at home.
Joker was sent back to Arkham, and Batman fought two more of his villains before the people who organized the event told him that he had to stop and let the other heroes have a turn.
After the tournament was over, The Flash approached the Announcer, "What you said when you were announcing Batman to his 'fight' with Joker," Flash laughed, "that was awesome!"
"Thank you." the Announcer said.
"But I have to ask. Why did you say that?" Flash asked.
"I was trying to help. Batman had saved my family when he had first appeared. I was just trying to repay that debt to him. In any way I could." the announcer said, "Plus, this Announcer bit that I did. I was doing a favor for a friend. I'm actually a professional comedian."
"Well, you are very good at your job, because that was funny. Don't stop." Flash said encouragingly.
While Flash was talking to the man, Batman was standing in the shadows watching and listening to their conversation. He was going to confront the announcer and question him on his choice of words, but after hearing him talk to Flash, he instead let it go, and walked away.
He and his kids went home.
Alfred had demanded their attendance to dinner. It also helped that Alfred also made his famous slow cooked roast, with all of the fixing.
