A/N: Hey guys! Here's a treat for you, 5 short bonus epilogue chapters! I was gonna post this separately but since they're mostly just short snippets of Bechloe's future, I decided to tack it on to this fic instead.
These additional chapters are a gift/prize to CT124 who guessed what chapter 29's title was before it was posted.
More important announcements at the end of the chapter, so please check it out!
I don't own pitch perfect.
"You want me to do what?" Rhian looked at Beca with confusion, brows knitted together. Beca simply beamed up at her.
Rhian sighed, the two of them waiting for Rob to get the car on the way to another interview at a radio station. Theo's been busy with Emily working with the latest set of artists they signed for the label.
"This better be an emergency, Mitchell, if you want me to cancel an interview for an upcoming big project with the label. You're about to launch the career of the person who is probably going to be the next Taylor Swift."
"I'm not asking you to cancel the interview, I'm just asking you if we can reschedule for about an hour later?" Beca asked with a pleading smile.
"Okay, first of all, what you're trying to do only works on your girlfriend. Quit it. Second, what's the all-important thing that Chloe undoubtedly asked you to do?"'
Beca feigned indignation just as Rob pulled up with the car. "She did not ask me anything… it's just, well… you know how stressed she's been with dealing with the aca-bridezilla-"
"Aubrey Posen is not that bad as a bride, I've seen worse," Rhian interjected, opening the door for Beca to go in first.
"I beg to differ," Beca replied. "But Bella's got a show-and-tell thing at school right now, and Chloe wasn't able to help her as promised so she's kind of bummed out and not so confident right now, and well, I just thought I could pop up and, you know, be the show-and-tell," Beca replied with a grin. "Besides, her school's on the way, so, you know?" she added with a shrug.
"Fine," Rhian replied, resigned to Beca's decisions. She fished for her phone to get in touch with the radio station while Beca gave Rob, who was already in on the plan, a thumbs up.
Beca looked out the window, keeping to her own thoughts as they made their way. She wasn't lying when she said that Chloe's been quite stressed with helping Aubrey get everything for the wedding perfect. Nothing much has changed since college between the two, although points for Aubrey for being less of a pain like she was before.
Still, Chloe felt bad this morning, when she volunteered to drop off Bella for school on her way to work, for not being much of a help with her. Stacie's rushing to get some things done with her work and Aubrey busy with the planner to get everything prepped up for the coming month's festivities, so the Bellas – at least the one close to Atlanta – have been pitching in with help with Bella. Chloe spent most of the morning messaging Beca if Bella was okay because of it. Beca smiled softly to herself, Chloe had such a big heart. Of course, it would bother her if she let anyone down. This was all she could think of to help cheer both Bella and Chloe up.
On the upside, if she could get Chloe to relax a bit, then maybe she could get the chance to ask the question she's been dying to ask for the last nine months.
Beca's simple gesture turned out to be a big hit. Many of the kids at school – the teachers were no exemption as well – were quite excited to be meet her in person. Bella turned her presentation – all about her Acapella champs moms and aunties – into an interactive one in class. Although she couldn't stay long, Beca was proud of herself with how she managed to turn Bella's day around – and hopefully Chloe. Wanting to see her girlfriend's pleased expression first hand, she promised to pick Bella up and surprise Chloe. Ice cream was thrown into the plans, and Bella looked like a kid on Christmas day by the time she left.
Rhian looked more annoyed than ever, because to make it in time to pick up Bella then Beca had to leave her interview early. She let things slip, and Beca couldn't help but wonder if Bella was growing on her as well.
The interview went smoothly, and the day went by faster than Beca would have wanted. Work was great, and that aching feeling of yearning she had before when she first found her success was long forgotten. It's hard work too run your own label and still release your own projects, but she had her friends with her, her family, and of course, the love of her life. Some days were a challenge, some were peaceful, but she's learned to fully embrace whatever life threw her way and live it to the fullest. As long as she had Chloe was by her side, then everything was worth it.
Beca had a smirk on her face when she finally got off her car once they reached Bella's school. She had spotted Chloe from afar just as they pulled into a parking spot and noticed the pleasant surprise on her face as Bella was animatedly talking to her about her day. Her phone rang as she was walking towards them, Chloe unable to help herself.
"Beca, you didn't have to," was the first thing she said when Beca answered. It was something that Chloe couldn't stop saying nowadays, as if Beca would ever get tired of doing this simple – Chloe insisted on calling them "grand" but Beca begged to differ – gestures.
"Just the look on your face now makes it all worth it," Beca replied just as she reached the spot where Bella and Chloe were.
It never ceases to amaze Beca how she could make Chloe speechless. It doesn't happen much with everyone else, and Beca takes great pleasure in that. In Chloe's eyes she sees nothing but awe and appreciation, love and adoration. It made Beca feel all gooey inside, and she didn't care much at all that it did. She loved the way Chloe made her feel.
She reached out a hand to Chloe, ending the call now that they were face to face. She pocketed her phone and asked for Bella's hands next. "I did promise ice cream, so how about we go get some?"
It didn't take much convincing for Bella to grab Beca's hands and all but pull them towards the direction of Beca's car. Beca shook her head and nodded over to Rob who understood what she meant. He and Rhian were to go ahead. Beca, Chloe and Bella were taking Chloe's car for a relaxing afternoon off.
Oh, I love it when you call
No, I just can't turn it off
'Cause I need you, babe
(I need you, babe)
The song started playing on the radio as Chloe pulled out of her parking spot, asking Bella what flavor of ice cream she wanted to get. Beca smiled softly to herself once again, watching Chloe be so good with Bella. She would wonder how Chloe could ever think she disappointed her – or any child for that matter – because to Beca, Chloe would make the best mom in the world.
Got those blue jeans faded
Midnight wasted on your love
(Can't get enough)
"What?" Chloe asked, catching Beca staring again.
"Nothing," Beca replied with a shrug, doing her best to keep her thoughts from spilling so freely. There would be a time and a place for that, be all sweet and sappy with Chloe without Bella seeing. She had to keep her reputation as the cool aunt after all.
But in truth, she can't help but think about the future. How hers with Chloe would look like, with their own kids, their own family. Things Beca never really thought she'd dream about.
I don't need to get drunk at the weekend
Or get high with my best friends
Baby, you're my adrenaline
It's how I feel when I'm with you
Dive in to the deep end
Get lost in the moment
Baby, you're my adrenaline
It's how I feel when I'm with you
It's been a long journey getting here, but Beca Mitchell was proud of who she's become. And whoever thought it would start with a girl who jumped her in a shower stall to sing a duet of her "lady jam" many years ago?
Chloe was humming along to the song playing on her phone as she got the dishes sorted in the dishwasher. It was an easy task, but it's taken her a good thirty minutes – and counting – to do it. Bella had to stay over that night, with both Stacie and Aubrey getting preoccupied with wedding preparations and all the Bellas agreed that Bella would not be exposed to such stressful environments, especially with how Aubrey gets extra difficult when she wants things to be absolutely perfect.
Little things that you do
That we share, me and you are where i breathe
You still blind, me with such wonder stuff
Just one touch is all I need
But could anyone blame Chloe for being distracted? The past two years or so have been filled with challenges and fear, but it also brought along her most treasured memories, her loudest laughter and biggest smiles. It's also brought Chloe her biggest brightest dreams come true. She would sneak glances at Beca and Bella playing Mario Kart in the living room, Beca letting Bella win a few rounds and complementing her prowess. Wolfram was happily snoozing next to Bella on the couch.
It was quite the sight, one that made Chloe's heart swell ten-fold with happiness and contentment.
It feels like I'm falling into soon
Even on stormy days
And every way, it feels like we've won
As we watched the years go by
Feels like we're still flying high
It was also a sight that made Chloe wonder about an ever-growing family. Of holiday parties with the Bellas and other special occasions, all gathered in the living room, with their own growing families. With Wolfram and future wife and puppies of his own, and perhaps little versions of Beca and Chloe herself running around, messing about and playing pranks like Chloe, or being a tad bit broody like Beca.
A future that Chloe once though was a fantasy. Something that all felt too impossible. A faraway dream that kept slipping out of reach.
A future that now felt more like an inevitability, especially with all of Beca's efforts of proving all her doubts and fears wrong.
Chloe's never had a love quite like this before.
Baby you amaze me
Still knock me off my feet
And who would have ever guessed it would last through it all
The reason I believe, can't you see?
You still amaze me
You still amaze me
And she never would have thought the girl she met across the sea of people in a crowded quad in Barden would be the cause behind it.
But she's glad she's found it. She's found her.
Chloe's happy she kept finding her, no matter how many times they felt slipping away from each other.
She felt a kind of peace and contentment from the thought, that tiny little realization, that she has this ever-evolving story with Beca.
