A/N: And here is Emily's POV ft a very BTS riff-off mash—up.
I need to stop being over the top with the chapters so I can churn them out faster :P I'll try – emphasis on try – to get everything up by Friday, we'll see.
Hope you guys are enjoying the bonus chapters though! Comments are always appreciated.
I don't own pitch perfect.
Emily downed her second glass of wine with relative ease. Although, if she was being fair to herself, Emily only started counting after the dinner portion of the rehearsal dinner was over. The night was vibrant, with shining shimmering lights strewn above the open area of the garden events space that Aubrey and Stacie had booked for the evening. The Bellas were all gathered, exchanging stories they've missed, highlights of each other's lives the last few months.
Jessica and Ashley were joking around with Cynthia Rose and her wife. Jesse, who Stacie invited as one of her guests, was with his wife, in deep conversation with Benji over the difficulties of raising kittens because their cat just gave birth. Lilly and her husband were making sure Bumper behaved properly – something rather difficult what with some of his old Treble buddies working with the catering company. Flo was busy chatting away with Gus, the two seemed to have a budding relationship that's moving in a rather slow pace – so slow that they might give Beca and Chloe a running for their obliviousness. Rhian was there, along with Theo too because Beca was there – and technically because they were also keeping an eye on Emily, but what are you doing Emily Junk, you're not supposed to know anything.
But it's hard to not be nervous or act oblivious when Chloe was seating next to hear, getting emotional over the fact that Stacie and Aubrey were getting married the next day.
It was also very distracting to see Beca being Bella's favorite aunt – Bella proclaimed it herself earlier, much to the shock of most of the Bellas, when she wanted to seat next to her for dinner – and just being, well, the Beca she had grown to become.
Life after winning the special iteration of the Wolrd's have been amazing and colorful. Emily had to admit that a good chunk of that colorful was catching Beca be a gooey romantic – she was getting cavities just watching her around Chloe – and also catching them in incredibly awkward situations.
Situations that tinged Emily's cheeks a shade that's redder than Chloe's hair.
Even with her uncanny moments of interrupting the couple's many moments at the studio, or in Beca's office, or Beca's home whenever she was visiting unexpectedly because of a work emergency, everything was actually going great.
What's causing the great distress within Emily, one might ask?
Well, it's that very same super power of interrupting special moments.
Like that time Emily walked in on the now dubbed – by Theo and Gus – as an impromptu "attempt number 1" after an awards show, with Chloe being none the wiser.
You'd think it would already be hard to keep the knowledge that a certain attempt was made to Chloe and the rest of the Bellas but then, there goes Emily again walking in on "attempt number 2" during an interrupted date night because of a work crisis.
Then of course Emily, during an awards show trip in Paris, disrupts a nice stroll by the river Seine along with "attempt number 3." That would have been her least fave attempt because that was when wherein she also incurred the wrath of Beca.
But then she actually witnessed the spontaneous "attempt number four" and the outcome of which after a successful event in Vegas, and now Emily had to be careful about what she said around the Bellas, avoiding any slip-ups – expression or otherwise – whenever they would tease their beloved couple with Beca and Chloe.
Truth be told, most of that evening's festivities were all a blur. Still, certain things form that trip were clearly not a dream, and Emily was just thankful Benji couldn't come with her and that it was surprisingly easier to hide the events that transpired in that god forsaken trip to the city pf temptations, the one that was encouraged all our wildest impulses, from him. It wouldn't be the case with the Bellas though. She spared him the details, NDA or not, because at least she could spare him the wrath of the Bellas if ever they were to find out. Thus, Emily did her best to forget about the city that must not be named, and the event that must not be remembered, because nope, she did not witness anything, not at all. She was not present during the non-existent event that she did not know that, if she did know, would have all the Bellas want to murder her for keeping this a secret.
Amy stood up to give a bit of an early maid of honor speech ever – because she was Stacie's – in time for the waiter to refill her drink. She could feel Rhian's trained eyes on her when Jesse started asking her what's it like to work in the industry with Beca, and how life has been in general. She caught Theo chuckling next to her, subtly signaling in sign language to remember her "NDA" and all that it covered.
Emily downed her third glass of wine post dinner then and there before trying to respond to Jesse's question.
But lucky for her, everyone else was distracted because Amy, as she ended her thankfully PG-13 speech, with the claim that the Bellas were the best acapella group ever. Bumper, of course, disagreed.
"May I remind you who won the World's twice? And the last time we did, we were up against the best of the best," Aubrey huffed, feeling slighted that Bumper would even dare argue that the Trebles were at par with the Bellas.
"You only one both because the Trebles weren't invited," Bumper argued.
"Precisely the point, Allen," Aubrey threwback.
"There's only one way to solve this, Posen," Bumper huffed.
"Agreed," Aubrey replied, getting up from her seat and walking towards the area near the fountain that was sometimes used as a makeshift dance floor for other events. "Ladies," Aubrey then send, calling for all her Bellas.
"Gentlemen," Bumper said, and the Trebles working during the event rushed to his aid.
"Here we go again," Benji commented with a sigh and shook his head as him and Jesse followed suit.
Emily wasted no time joining the Bellas after that.
Guess their getting into another riff-off.
Aubrey signaled for Lilly to give her a beat, and kicked things off. Chloe and Flo backing her up with some ad-libs.
'Cause I-I-I'm in the stars tonight
So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight (whoa)
But Bumper wasn't going to let her set the pace, jumping in quickly with Donald to back him up, and some of the other Trebles laying the foundations for the beats and melodies.
Smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover
Gon' pop (gon' pop) like trouble breaking into your heart like that (ooh)
Cool shade, stunner, yeah, I owe it all to my mother (aahh)
Hot like summer, yeah, I'm making you sweat like that (break it down)
Jesse jumped in too. It was rare for him to get a chance to pull of a performance, so he might as well give it his all. Emily can tell he's at least enjoying this little friendly contest.
Ooh, when I look in the mirror
I'll melt your heart into two
I got that superstar glow, so
Ooh (do the boogie, like)
Apparently, the rest of the Trebles were also excited to be given the chance to return to their glory days of acapella.
Side step, right-left, to my beat (whoa)
High like the moon, rock with me, baby
(baby, yeah)
Know that I got that heat
Let me show you 'cause talk is cheap
Side step, right-left, to my beat
Get it, let it roll
But as they wrapped up the chorus, Beca shook her head. She's come so far too let the Trebles get even just the slightest taste of victory. She snapped her fingers and jumped back in with Lilly, Jessica, and Ashley backing her up.
Shoes on, get up in the morn'
Ooh (do the boogie, like)
Cup of milk, let's rock and roll
(Ooh, when I look in the mirror)
King Kong, kick the drum, rolling on like a Rolling Stone
(I'll melt your heart into two)
Sing song when I'm walking home
Jump up to the top, LeBron
(I got the superstar glow so)
Ding dong, call me on my phone
Ice tea and a game of ping pong, huh
Amy then stepped up, and Beca happily passed the spotlight on her. Benji still tried to fight for the Trebles, but Amy - and her dance moves - successfully asserted her dominance over the usually timid Treble.
This is getting heavy
Can you hear the bass boom? I'm ready (woo hoo)
Life is sweet as honey
Yeah, this beat cha-ching like money, huh
Disco overload, I'm into that, I'm good to go
I'm diamond, you know I glow up
Hey, so let's go
Chloe and Aubrey then lead the Bellas through the chorus, the Trebles left to themselves as they tried to find ways of fighting back. But so far, in Emily's humble opinion, the Bellas have this in the bag.
'Cause I-I-I'm in the stars tonight
So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight (hey)
Shining through the city with a little funk and soul
So I'ma light it up like dynamite, whoa oh oh
Dy-na-na-na, na-na, na-na, ayy
Dy-na-na-na, na-na, na-na, ayy
Dy-na-na-na, na-na, na-na, ayy
Light it up like dynamite
Dy-na-na-na, na-na, na-na, ayy
Dy-na-na-na, na-na, na-na, ayy
Dy-na-na-na, na-na, na-na, ayy
Bumper decided to put up one last fight, jumping in to the scene with Donald pulled along to support him.
Get it, let it roll
Ice on my wrist, I'm that nice guy
Got that right body and that right mind
Rolling up to party, got the right vibe
Smooth like (butter), hate us (love us)
Fresh, boy, pull up and we lay low
All the players get moving when the bass low
Got an ARMY right behind us when we say so
Let's go
And then Jesse decidesd to help them out and charm the crowd. But the Bellas were there ready to fight for control too.
Side step, right-left, to my beat
High like the moon, rock with me, baby (Dy-na-na-na, na-na, na-na, ayy)
The Trebles tried, but all was lost when Cynthia Rose stepped up.
Shining through the city with a little funk and soul
So I'ma light it up like dynamite (oh, oh)
(This is ah)
Feeling a little bit more at ease as the Bellas got into the groove of things, Emily jumped in to support Cynthia Rose and Beca for the chorus with Flo and Amy. Chloe, Aubrey, and Stacie provided some vocal assists to Ashley, Jessica and Lilly for the beats and the melodies.
Aubrey and Chloe soon took over. Bumper not giving up readily did his best to resist the Bellas, continuously singing on.
'Cause I-I-I'm in the stars tonight (Side step, right-left, to my beat)
(Side step, right-left, to my beat)
So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight (High like the moon, rock with me, baby)
(oh, rock with me baby)
But Beca jumps in to seal the deal for their victory, the Bellas in full support as the Trebles were fading into the background.
Shining through the city (Know that I got that heat))
with a little funk and soul (Let me show you 'cause talk is cheap)
So I'ma light it up like dynamite, whoa (Side step, right-left, to my beat)
The Balls wrapped things up, the guests all applauding their aca-excellence.
Bumper tried to throw in a wimpy last line, but no one seemed to pay him attention.
Get it, let it roll
"Ah, that felt good," Flo commented as they all tried to get back to their seats. "Don't you think so, Ems?"
"Absolutely!" Emily replied.
"Say, Legacy, where have you been all night?" Amy then asked, putting an arm around Emily, "I feel like you've been avoiding us."
"Wha- no I haven't?!" Emily replied, instantly flustered. How could she suspect?
"Yeah, you're usually very cheerful and excited to talk with us…" Jessica threw in.
"Are we just not as cool to you as we w=once were?" Ashley then asked, feigning indignation. They were just teasing her, assuming that Emily was probably tried and working hard behind the scenes. They were aware that Beca had given her a lot of responsibilities.
But Emily assumed the worst. "I'm not hiding anything, I swear!"
"We weren't asking if you were, Legacy," Cynthia Rose replied.
"Now I'm starting to think that you are," Lilly replied.
"You wouldn't hide anything from us, right, Legacy? Not on my wedding week?" Stacie then replied, also putting an arm around her.
And just like that, Emily was cornered. The sharks could smell blood, they were going in for the kill.
And if the Bellas don't kill her first, Rhian certainly would. Beca and Chloe would probably just find everything amusing… until Aubrey found out too, of course.
"She's just tired, excuse her," Rhian replied, slightly annoyed as she pulled Emily out of there.
"What are you doing?" she chastised in a hushed tone. "You know the Bellas cannot know, Beca and Chloe doesn't want them to know because they don't want them to feel hurt, betrayed, and disappointed."
"I know! I'm sorry, I panicked," Emily replied.
Rhian sighed. "Things will come out eventually, one way or the other. For now, respect their privacy and their decision not to share their news, okay? And stop drinking. Just stick with Beca or Chloe for the rest of the week, okay?"
Emily nodded vigorously despite the uncertainty of whether or not she would survive this weekend with such a bombshell of a secret to hide from the Bellas.
Matter of fact, she's confused how they're survived this long.
Because – at least for now – the Bellas cannot know.
And if they did, well, things would most certainly get interesting
