Story Start!

It had been a week since Naruto hung out with Kawasaki and Kei. He hasn't seen her besides say school due to her being in a busy season of work apparently. It wasn't until talking with yui that he realized Christmas was coming up, which meant nothing to him until he learned it was basically the Rinne festival he used to celebrate in the leaf.

He was happy and saddened by this, at one point this was his favorite time of year. Everyone joyous and hopeful, however now it was just a reminder of once was and all the people he would never see again.

Not that he would dampen anyone's mood around him it was something personal and private, so he would keep it to himself and let everyone enjoy themselves.

He was thinking this staring up at the ceiling of the classroom when he got a text

"Oh group message from Yukinoshita-San"

Yukonoshita: Meeting today. DO NOT "get lost on the road of life"

Naruto: Hai hai. I'll be there

Hickyman: same

Yui: yay! Let's have a lot of fun 3

"Well I have been a little lazy since I've been in the club" naruto thought which was an understatement. Since he joined the club all they did was save a popular friend group from imploding.

Since then whenever they have a meeting it yukinoshita reading a book, yui bothering her and hikigaya, then of course he would take a nap until the meeting was concluded. It was nice, easy.

Club room after school

As soon as Naruto walked in he was hit in the face with an eraser.

"Well this feels familiar"

"Uzumaki-Namikaze-San, refrain from being late any more." Yukinoshita told him with a voice that left no room for discussion.

"Hai taichou~" he stated with a lazy salute. Slowly seeing the tick mark form on her head he smirked mission accomplished.

"Ah good to see you haven't gave up on making friends hermitgaya." He said with his sensei's patented eye smile

"I hate you and your beautiful face" hikigaya replied

But to yukinoshita and yui's surprise they fist bumped right afterwards.

"When did the two of you become such good friends?" Yui asked

"Well I would say more allies against the demons that plague our lives than friends." Naruto replied taking a seat next to yui with hikigaya nodding his head "also good afternoon yui-San"

"Oh good afternoon naruto!" She chirped back

"The purpose of this meeting is to scout out our next request" yukinoshita said cutting to the chase before more shenanigans unfolded

"Okay so what's the next case entail?" Yui asked with a playful seriousness

At that exact moment the door slid open slowly exposing a little boy and girl

"Onii-Chan!" They both yelled out running in once they were fully exposed surprising everyone and even more so when they ran up to hikigaya.

"What are you two doing here?" he asked

"You need to help out taishi!" The girl told him

"You know these two hikigaya?" Yukinoshita asked for the rest of the room.

"Yes, this is my little sister Komachi and her friend taishi" he stated pointing at the two now named kids

"Yes, I am komachi hikigaya, it's a pleasure to meet you and thank you for taking care of my loner brother!" Komachi said with a slight bow

"Hai I'm taishi Kawasaki, thank you for you help" taishi said after Komachi and also giving a slight bow as well

The last name of the boy peeked Naruto's interest "hmm makes sense I remember Kawasaki telling me she had other younger siblings"

"As you're so cute Komachi~ of course we'll help you two!" Yui said now shaking Komachi's hands excitedly slightly surprising the girl but then she joined in the enthusiasm.

"Before we decide that we need to hear what the request if first yui-San" Yukinoshita said

"If my sister needs my help the service club is at full disposal" hikigaya said completely ignoring yukinoshita

All naruto could do was chuckle at the situation yukinoshita was in "well it seems like we might be biased yukinoshita."

All she could do was sigh in resignation " okay so what's the issue you need help resolving taishi-San"

Both the middle school students then took seats and everyone else sat down to listen

"Well it's my sister, she goes here. Her name is saki Kawasaki and I need help getting through to her. She has been at home less and less. It's hurting her studies and it's also hurting my little sister Kei to see her less. She's too busy and we don't even know what she's doing. Whenever I ask she just says she has to work." Taishi said looking at his clenched hands in his lap

Everyone looked at taishi sadly, especially naruto understanding a little of what he was going through.

"Well since it's effecting her studies and she is a student it is a case that the service club can help with" yukinoshita said after crossing her arms and thinking for a second

"Of course we would help regardless if it's an issue with our kohai's!" Yui said smiling

"Yeah, if it's a request from my sister I guess I can't say no" hikigaya said

"Of course if it's making Kei-Chan sad I'll help" naruto said with a slight smile. This drew everyone's attention to him.

"You must be naru-nii that Kei has been talking about!" Taishi said excitedly with slight stars in his eyes looking at naruto "she's been going on and on about you hanging out with her and Sami. Also she's told me some of the cool stories you've shared with her"

Naruto just got up and walked over to taishi. He then ruffled his hair and said "I'll make sure your sister is home more often okay?" He told him giving his bright smile.

This made komanchi and Yui blush along with a very slight redness appear on yukinoshita's cheeks.

"Wow you're so cool" taishi and Komachi said at the same time smiling up at naruto

"Forget our truce, you're another demon" hikigaya said jealous of the attention komanchi was giving naruto

"Ne~ come on hickyman we have a request to fulfill" naruto said patting hikigaya on the back

"Get away from me bastard"

Then everyone grabbed their bags and left to go find Kawasaki.

Cafe

After searching the school for Kawasaki until they couldn't find her anywhere they all decided to take a break for food and refreshments at a nearby cafe.

"Okay so we don't know where Kawasaki is, does anyone have an idea where she could be?" Naruto asked setting down a tray with drinks, burgers and fries for everyone.

Everyone thanked him for buying lunch and came to a resounding no. Not even taishi knew what his sister did for work. He knew she had 2 jobs but not what either one was.

Naruto checked his phone to see if Kawasaki had replied to his messages but alas no luck.

"Alright taishi well what does she usually do now?" Naruto asked sipping on his soda

"Well by now she's probably at home changing to leave to her second job."

"This late? It's already almost 7pm, where could she be working this late?" Yui asked aloud

"Gas station attendant?" Hikigaya asked

"No she doesn't wear an outfit like that" taishi replied

"Well our best option is to take you two kids home and then try again tomorrow I guess." Naruto said deciding for the group

"I agree, if we haven't found her yet then it's likely she's probably at her second job so the best course would be to start after school tomorrow." Yukinoshita added

Taishi looked down at the table " I guess y'all are right"

"Come on taishi well take you home" Yui said to cheer him up.

City streets

After taking a short railway trip they finally arrived at taishi's house, which both he and naruto knew the way to.

"Alright taishi here we are. Now look." He said putting his hand on taishi's shoulder and getting eye level with him.

"I promise we're going to get to the bottom of this and make sure you see your sister more okay? Just be strong for Kei and your other sibling for a little. Be the man I know you are, you're strong. It takes a strong and humble man to come to others for help. I have faith in you." He told him while looking into his eyes

Taishi not once looking away from his eyes stood a little straighter "I will naru-nii, and I'll let Kei know you're on the case too!"

Naruto just smiled at him "thank you taishi, now get inside and do your homework"

"Hai!" He said and then sped inside

"Good job uzumaki." Hikigaya said "it's the duty of the older siblings to guide and lead their youngers to a brighter horizon"

Everyone looked at him with a slight sweat drop for the sunset background that appeared behind him

"Wow I thought that was only a technique guy and lee could do" naruto thought hoping that this sunset wouldn't get worse

"Anyway hackysac, shouldn't you be taking Komachi here home too?"

"Awww but I want to stay and hangout with naru-nii more" komanchi said looking at naruto with slightly red cheeks

This set off alarm bells in hikigaya's mind

"Nope, never, stay away from that demon" he said pulling komanchi away from the group towards the train station so they would head home

"Wait nii-san! I didn't say bye!"

"You don't need to"

"But I want too~"

"No!"

And they kept arguing playful back and forward until the disappeared in the train station. Causing the remaining group to laugh as they headed that way behind them.

As the three of them boarded naruto let them both having the last two seats and stood in front of them facing out the window behind the girls.

Yui was talking excitedly to Yukinoshita about something when naruto noticed someone out do the window near downtown.

"Wait! Turn and look right there by the crosswalk" he pointed and when they turned they noticed who he pointed out

It was Kawasaki she had a olive green jacket with fur on the hood and was wearing what looked like dress pants.

"I'm getting off on the next stop to follow her."

"We're right behind you" Yukinoshita said with Yui nodding along

Naruto smirked "alright, let's go get a big sister home."

City street

They followed Kawasaki till she entered a building. Yui was texting hikigaya giving him updates the entire time.

"Alright she entered this building?"

"This is the royal okura hotel. One of the higher end hotels in the city" Yukinoshita stated

"Maybe she's a bell hop?" Yui wondered

"Let's find out"

As they followed they saw her get in an elevator and take it to the top floor.

"Alright let's go, we know she's on the top floor" naruto said calling a different elevator for them to get on

"What are we gonna say to her?" Yui asked

"We'll explain to her how stupid it is to be working late on a school night and neglecting her younger siblings." Yukinoshita said matter of factly

"I don't know if that's gonna work Yukino?" Yui said unsurely

"We'll play it by ear when we get up there Yui." Naruto said not taking his eyes off of the digital screen with the floor numbers increasing.

Yukinoshita and Yui exchanged looks noticing how unusually serious naruto was being. He was always joking and carefree, being playful in all his interactions with them and in class he was quiet and easy to talk to.

Naruto however was focused on what he was going to say to Saki, it thought it was strange for her to be away from her family for something like a bellhop job. Maybe something else was at play he didn't know about but he was going to get to the bottom of it.

He made a promise to taishi after all, and even as a broken man he wasn't going to break a promise.

*DING*

They were all shaken from their thoughts when they heard the elevator signal that they arrived at their destination.

Without a word they all got out of the elevator and looked around.

It was another cafe/bar area.

"Angel ladder?" He wondered seeing the sign in front of the entrance

"This place looks fancy" Yui said

Naruto took off his school jacket, folded it and put it in his brown messenger bag. He the. Rolled up his sleeves somewhat up his forearm "There now I don't look too much like a student"

"Why would that be an issue?" Yui wondered but by then Yukinoshita noticed what naruto had.

The cafe wasn't for younger people it seemed. It was full of business men and some women, all getting drinks after work.

"We should be fine if we head straight to the bar and we'll keep our uniforms on so none of the other patrons bother us" Yukinoshita said

"Good call" he replied walking into the bar scanning to see if he could see saki when he noticed a familiar head of silver hair at the bar "Found her she's working the bar."

As they headed over and took seats at the far end of the bar away from everyone Kawasaki finally noticed them.

"Naruto, Yuigahama-San, Yukinoshita-San what are y'all doing here?!" She hissed lowly

Naruto set his features rigid like he was in the elevator again "I could ask you the same thing"

"I work here." She shot back

"I'm assuming illegally since you're working at the bar." Yukinoshita replied coolly

"So what? Are you going to rat me out and get me fired?" She asked sternly, not showing the hurt she felt on the inside that naruto would do that.

"No/Yes, if I need to." Naruto and Yukinoshita replied

They both turned to each other

"We didn't discuss that yukinoshita" naruto said sternly

"If it's illegal and a detriment to her we should."she said with an strict edge to her voice

"That not for us to decide" he said slightly clenching his hand

"Look I don't know what's going on but you three should leave, I have customers to serve." Kawasaki said leaving no room for argument

"But what about taishi and Kei and your other siblings? They're worried!" Yui said interjecting in the conversation for the first time

"Why did you go talk to my family?" She said with an edge in her voice

"Taishi-kun came to us with a request to help you" Yukinoshita said

"Tsk, okay I get it but what y'all's school club does shouldn't force it's way into my personal life." She said agitated that taishi went to strangers for help

"It does when your personal life affects your academic performance" Yukinoshita retorted

"Look I've been tired because this is a busy season for both my jobs okay? It's not permanent and it's still none of y'all's business." Kawasaki said

At that moment male waiter came over and put his hands on Yui and Yukinoshita's shoulders

"Excuse me but the cafe is closed to patrons younger than 18 at this time. You two need to leave" he said sternly pulling them off of their stools

"Hey watch it!" Yui said and she was about to keep saying more or signal naruto when Yukinoshita grabbed her arm and shook her head

"We were just leaving mister, we stopped here to get something to drink on the way home and didn't realize." Yukinoshita said

"All you had to do was read the sign at the entrance to know better" he said not giving into their excuse

"No need to be an ass, we're leaving" yui said and they both turned to be escorted out

As they were leaving Yukinoshita turned her head towards naruto and gave him a slight nod. Understanding that she was giving him the reign to deal with the situation as he saw fit, he nodded back.

Once he heard them leave in the elevator he grabbed the phone out of his bag and sent them a text on the group chat

I'll tell y'all the outcome tomorrow during our club meeting

Then he closed his phone and put it back up in his bag. He looked at Kawasaki and saw her taking glances at him since he wasn't kicked out.

"Excuse me bartender, can I order my drink?" He called over with a slight smirk

Kawasaki for her part didn't outwardly react, she calmly walked over cleaning a glass with a rag and refused to look at him "what can I get you sir?"

"I'll take a bottle of warm sake please."

"Yes sir coming up." This threw Kawasaki for a loop "who knew naruto was a drinker, or is he just ordering it to look older and not get kicked out?" She wondered

While she was getting his sake naruto figured he can cave to his vices. Ever since he was stranded here I spent a few months recovering and during that time he experienced extreme highs and lows. First his addiction to prescription pills from the hospital, then drinking and smoking. He shook off the pills after a ton of effort but he still hasn't been able to shake the smoking or drinking.

The drinking reminds him of granny tsunade and jiraya. The smoking reminds him of the third hokage and his pipe, also he thought asuma looked cool.

He thought of this and before he knew it he pulled the pack of cigarettes out of his bag and had already lit one. It was so hard not to ask Shizuka for a smoke in her office on his first day. He realized quickly he should keep it a secret while he was a student.

"Here's your sake- wait you smoke?" Kawasaki asked shocked of all that she was finding out of naruto. It was actually kind of hot that naruto was so sweet to her and her siblings while also being a bit of a bad boy.

"It's a bad habit I picked up awhile ago, same with the drinking. I don't drink too much any more but occasionally." He replied blowing his smoke out at staring at the saucer of sake in front of him.

"Well I don't have a problem with either, I've smoked before but I don't do it a lot. Same with the drinking, kinda have to drink sometimes in this job." She said getting a little quieter at the end

Naruto slammed his sake back and looked at her "that doesn't sound like you're enjoying it."

"It doesn't matter if I enjoy it, I need to work to support my family and this job pays well." She said cleaning more glasses, now feeling at ease that naruto won't cause her to lose her job

"Fair enough, I can't tell you not to work but you could find another job"

"Where at? I've been looking and I haven't been able to find anything. I know it's unfair to my siblings to work late this often but it's for them in the long run." She admitted to him

"Sure it'll be beneficial to them later but what about when they're grown? All they're going to remember is that you weren't there. You and them are missing out on memories right now. They're only going to be that small once." He told her staring down into his freshly refilled saucer.

"Look I know that, I hate it but I can't change it right now? Besides don't you have anyone else to worry about? Where's your family?" She said lashing out at him for reminding her of the pain she's inadvertently causing

"Simple Kawasaki. I don't have one, I'm an orphan from birth." He said cold and bitterly putting his cigarette out in an ash tray. He wasn't mad at her, he was just feeling angry.

This always happened when he drank lately, that anger, bitterness, and grief just comes out from somewhere.

"Naruto I-I'm sorry.."

"Don't, it's okay. You didn't know and I don't advertise it ya' know." He said chucking at the end and having another drink

They sat there and chatted while she served other customers for an hour.

"Alright Kawasaki, I'm gonna help you find another job okay? That way you can be around Kei, taishi, and your other sibling more. Y'all deserve each other." He said matter of factly finishing his bottle.

He was feeling the warm buzz of the sake coursing through his body now. He wasn't drunk but he know he wasn't sober either.

Kawasaki for her part was enjoying her time at work for once. Usually it was filled with guys being creepy or trying to convince her to go back to their hotel room. Everyone tonight had stayed away other than to order drinks due to naruto.

"Fine, if we can find another job that pays close to the same I'll quit this one." She said with a slight smile, happy naruto wasn't giving up on her or forcing her to quit. Plus she knows he wouldn't admit it but he was tipping extra for all the drinks.

Naruto smiled at her and got up collecting his bag and cigarettes "well then I'll be downstairs in the lobby to walk you home when you're off okay?"

"Okay, I should be off of work in the next hour. We close at midnight but I'm working a half shift tonight." She replied with a slight smile

"Alright I'll be waiting but don't rush." He said as he put his bag over his shoulder and started heading towards the elevators.

He had just hit the button to call it to the floor when he heard something.

"Get off of me sir!"

It was Kawasaki

"Come on baby, I've been coming here to ask you out for days now. Why are you turning me down? You didn't even let that loser keeping you preoccupied take you out." He said angrily

In an instant naruto shifted on the balls of his feet and headed back into the restaurant

He saw the guy holding saki's hand and trying to pull her close to him. She looked afraid and disgusted by the obviously creepy and drunk man.

Naruto didn't even think, wether it was the alcohol, the general anger in him or a combination of both he didn't know. It didn't matter either, she was in trouble.

Saki POVSaki was happy to get off of work to go home and not just because naruto said he was gonna walk her home.

Of course that didn't have anything to do with it...not at all. When all of the sudden this creepy guy in his 20's that had been bothering her the past week popped up out of nowhere.

Now she was wishing naruto wasn't waiting down in the lobby. Every night for the past two weeks he would come in and order drinks just to harass her, ask her where she lived, went to school, is she was single etc. It was funny at first but now it getting old.

Tonight he seemed different though usually he would order rounds for his friends and himself so that she would have to interact with them longer but it seemed like it was just him and one other guy.

"Hey saki-Chan~ you're looking especially delicious today."

Then she smelled it, he was already drunk as fuck.

"Good evening Kekida-San-"

"I told you to tall me ichiro saki." He said suddenly really irate she was being formal with him

"I don't feel comfortable with that so I won't kekida-San, should you even be drinking you seem to have had enough already." She said coldly

Suddenly he grabbed her arm "Look bitch I tried being nice, I bought drinks and tipped you well. Why the fuck are you giving me the cold shoulder."

"Kekida-San stop it now. You're hurting me!" She said angry he even grabbed her

"I'm a manager of a good sized bank okay? I'm used to getting what I want baby. And I want you!" He hissed into her face while he friend was sitting off to the side chuckling

"Please let me go sir!" She shouted hoping to draw attention to him so other people could intervene

"Come on baby, I've been coming here to ask you out for days now. Why are you turning me down? You didn't even let that loser keeping you preoccupied take you out." He said angrily

"You don't deserve to talk about naruto like that youpiece of garbage" she venomously said in her mind

In an instant it happened ichiro's hand was forcefully removed from saki's arm and his face was slammed into the bar counter.

You could hear the sickening crunch of his nose shattering against the counter as soon as his head bounced off of it

Saki looked on in shock "naruto!?" That's all she could think in that instant

"Saki are you-"

"Bastard!" Was all naruto heard before a beer glass was smashed on the side of his face by the friend ichiro brought in with him unknown to naruto

"Oh my god!" Was all saki could say "holy shit this is crazy!"

Naruto just rolled with the hit before planting his feet and throwing a straight punch at the goon who was surprised he wasn't down for the count.

Again another sickening crunch, this time it was the guys orbital socket cracking under the force of Naruto's punch. Instantly knocking him down, he was screaming and grabbing his face in pain on the ground.

Naruto stood over the two men on the floor crying in pain now, he could feel the rush of being in a fight. He didn't even have to check he know he was bleeding from the right side of his face from where the glass was smashed.

It felt exhilarating, but it also felt wrong. He knew he was way strong than both of these guys and he just destroyed them in less than ten seconds. Sure it was to protect saki so he didn't regret it at all he just felt bad.

"Oh my god! Naruto are you okay?!" Saki shouted and hopped over the bar counter dabbing his head with a white rag to control the bleeding

"Yeah I'm fine." He said looking at her and then back to the two guys on the floor "they're not though."

"Fuck those guys." She said angrily and full of worry "they were being creeps and disgusting."

They stayed there silent as the rest of the patrons started to pull out their phone and someone said they already called emergency services.

Naruto was holding the now red rag to his face and saki stood in front of him and was checking to make sure he didn't have any other cuts.

Once she noticed he didn't have any other cut she looked at him straight in the eyes "Naruto thank you. That was very brave and stupid and honorable and and-"

"It's okay Saki. It doesn't matter what happens going forward, I would gladly do it again" he told her cutting her off

She didn't say another word and just pulled him into a hug and very quietly in his ear said "thank you so much I was so scared."

Naruto just held her with his other arm as the medics and police officers started showing up.

"I'm gonna get blood on your nice clothes" he said jokingly

Saki couldn't believe he would joke at a time like this and still it was so him "Shut up jerk."
