Azulon is less bad in this fic than in canon, but I tried to keep events as faithful as possible. Oneshot.

Stan becomes severely ill on the Stan O' War. As Ford nurses him back to health, his fever-induced memory lapses reveal some of Stan's inner demons.

The red washed away to reveal the source of Ford's shame: the brand he left on his brother. The reminder of that single incident was bad enough, but it was more than that. The brand served as a symbol of all the pain Ford had caused Stan: abandoning him to the streets, ignoring him for ten years, and treating him like garbage after he spent thirty years bringing him back.

Mabel had had the right idea all along, she was just being a bit too low-tech about it. But if Fiddleford could invent a gun that erased people's memories, then surely Stanford could invent something that recovered lost memories. He could and he would, and then he would use it to get Stanley's memories back, and then everything would be alright.

Dipper didn't trust Stan last time. Could be make the same mistake twice?

It all started with the grim. Now it seems like every time he turns around, Ford finds yet another death omen hanging around his brother. Seriously, what exactly is going on with his brother that death constantly seems to follow his footsteps? "Go ahead. Blow my brains out. I know you want to. Besides, Stan Pines has been dead for years anyway." Stan felt dead long before he took Stanford's identity. "Bringing you back was the only reason I didn't off myself years ago." Ford just stood there with his mouth agape like a deer in the headlights. "Just do it! Pull the trigger! PULL THE TRIGGER, STANFORD!"

While preparing for their boating trip, Ford discovers a surprising secret about Stan and ultimately, himself. Mostly crack. Contains brotherly teasing and a slight mention of Stan being drunk.

Stan was having another memory lapse, and it looked like this was a particularly bad one. Usually, Stan's episodes were minor moments of forgetfulness, and they would calmly work through them. But now, Stan was shaking and looked like he was on the verge of a panic attack.

"Do you know how much it hurts to lose your twin? It hurts so bad, Dipper. I don't want to see Mabel go through that. You can't leave her, Dipper." Stan's tears landed on Dipper's face. "You can't leave me."

At first, Danny didn't think Norrisville was haunted—but that was before his ghost sense went off and he found this Ninja terrorizing the local high school. And at first, Randy didn't think anything of the new kid who turned up to laugh at him—but that was before he almost got fried by a laser and realized he was dealing with McFist's lackey. Stan still has gaps in his memory and it worries him. Luckily Ford is there to reassure him.

It's 1982, and Ford Pines has called his brother to Oregon, in desperate need of his help. Fate keeps Ford in this reality, and forces him to confront some very uncomfortable truths about his relationship with his twin.

In which, the genius Stanford Pines realizes that his own actions and words have their own devastating consequences, by the time he realizes this.
