Levi never understands why he ended up married. He isn't sure why.
Precisely, Levi never understood why he had to get married.
Maybe, it's because her mother who used to be a sex worker never talked about marriage to Levi because her own mother was far from married. Sex is the thing her mother chose to survive. While Levi chooses his power to survive and fight. All Levi knew from his childhood was he had to be the strongest to survive. Because that's how nature works.
Or maybe, it is because the burden on his shoulders already too heavy to add another responsibility to involve a woman presences and he doesn't have time to think of having a wife.
Levi was already in charge of many things, whether in the military, in the Scout Legion, in his special squad operation, unknowingly his decision to join Scout Legion adds more responsibility and there's a lot of people trust him - trust his decision that Levi himself as an ordinary human being (even though he is humanity's strongest soldier) sometimes still questioned any decisions he made whether it is right or wrong.
He has accomplished many things, but he has also sacrificed many things.
Many people believed him as the brain of the operation against Marley Colony, many people believed his strength, his mind, and his soul. And also there's a people put their lives on him and ended up dead, they still trust Levi.
They never once doubt him.
Levi never had a vision when he was in the Underground City that there would be so many people entrusting the future of this country and their lives to Levi.
And now he also questions whether marrying Mikasa Ackerman was the right decision to take responsibility of her life.
But, Kenny - trust him. All Levi knows is that his uncle never hesitated in his decision, and Kenny's decision to marry him to Mikasa was a decision Kenny would not doubt because Kenny trusts Levi.

Levi doesn't even have time to think about how to be a good partner. Eventhough he works as a team he actually more comfortable working alone, to involve less people to dead. Oh really, Levi wants to laugh at himself now. Unfortunately Levi's not the type to joke around.
But Kenny's words are true, Mikasa is a member of their clan that he should protect. Family is everything. And the one who can protect the Ackermans, it's the Ackerman themself. The one who can protect Mikasa is Levi.
And the one could put her in danger is also Levi.
But that day happened too. Today is his wedding day. Many say Levi is a lucky guy, Mikasa Yaeger - is the name that the woman carries, and for the first time make her debut in society, by announcing that she's engaged with the Captain of Trost District, Captain Levi of the special squad operation from Scout Legion.
"You know a lot of girls out there are jealous of Mikasa," Hanji said, Levi said nothing, he'd heard a lot from his uncle - often mocking him that Levi was popular among women, both from upper and lower class.

Kenny oftenly jokes about it. Kenny and his dark jokes only make another headache to him.
He also heard a lot from Oluo, his former squad - a member of the squad secretly gossiped that Oluo was jealous of Levi's fame and started acts like Levi.
People says it is a fate then, to get married soon, because Erwin gave him two choices - marry Frieda Reiss or someone else - and Levi chose the second option, he remembers Kenny's advice, allied with fellow clans much better than outsider, certainly much better than the Royals, better to be persecuted by the royals, than enslaved by the royals. Levi would not allow Ackerman's descendants to be enslaved by the royals, by Rod Reiss and make them their royal soldier.
After Erwin announced to the royals that Captain Levi is getting married soon, Uri Reiss – the wise King received the news delightfully and offered the royals assistance to carry out the wedding
But neither Levi nor the Yaeger family chose to hold a simple ceremony on the church near Yaeger's residence.
Their wedding happened a week right after Levi and Kenny's visit, not taking much time or anything to prepare because many of Levi's subordinates from military volunteered to help prepare for the ceremony.
Until that day comes, today is the day Captain Levi marries Mikasa Yaeger.
It has been a talks and gossip everywhere of all upper until lower class people. A Captain Levi from the Scout Legion marries the adopted daughter of the country's most influential doctor, Mikasa Yaeger.
Levi also heard the rumors, the public is curious about the figure of Yaeger's adopted daughter who never participated in social parties which was held once at the end of the month by the royals. No one knows the background of that pale-skinned woman. Rumors in the community who have met with Mikasa accidentally, stated that Mikasa is much more beautiful compared of any other women in Paradis country, even more beautiful than Rod Reiss' eldest daughter goddes-look alike - Frieda Reiss.
They call her a mysterious woman yet she still couldn't hide her beauty,
And that's true. The first time, 10 years ago Levi met 9 years old Mikasa Ackerman with Kenny, Levi believes Mikasa with the blood of the famous Shogun clan will surely grow into a beautiful woman.
Levi proved that with his own eyes a week ago, Mikasa has grown into the most beautiful woman he has ever met. He never has a memory of his mother presences with a such a pleasant appearance, so Levi thinks Mikasa is the most beautiful woman he has ever met.
Their wedding was held on Sunday, surprisingly Kenny said it was a day of rest, a good day to start a goodwill, and everyone seemed celebrated it delightedly. Except Levi and Mikasa. As soon as Mikasa appears at the end of church's garden, Levi stares at Mikasa with that simple white wedding dress. Mikasa walks slowly with her adoptive father Grisha Yaeger towards him and the priest.
Everyone seemed stunned. Everything looks perfect.
Upon arriving at the altar, Levi can see Mikasa's face with no meaningful expression behind her wedding veil, Mikasa avoids his gaze by staring straight at the priest.
Without thinking, Levi immediately grasps Mikasa's cold hand.
"This afternoon we gathered to witness two human beings united in a wedding..." The priest starts, Levi himself does not pay attention to whatever the priest says, his attention is focused on Mikasa's cold hands in his grasp. It was the coldest hand Levi ever knew.
It's not going to end well.
You can stop it.
You have to protect her.
Levi didn't pay much attention to what the priest said but he manages to kept hearing it until the end, until the priest asked him to say his marriage vows.
"I'm Captain Levi take Mikasa Yaeger to be my lawful wife. I promise to continue with her in good times and hard times, in sickness and in health, and honor you all the days of my life, until death do us part." Levi said his wedding vows quietly.
"And do you Mikasa Ackerman take Captain Levi as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for a better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness or health, to love and cherish until death do you part?" the priest asked.
The wind blows slowly, the grass in the courtyard of the church sways quietly, Levi almost able to hear the friction of the grass so clearly because the atmosphere on that afternoon was so quiet, he did not care what the priest raved about. Levi glanced at the woman next to him who seemed to pay close attention to what the priest had just asked to her.
Mikasa did not answer it, another second and has passed. Until the crowd started whispering. It would be funny if the woman said no. So Levi squeezed Mikasa's cold hands. Awaken Mikasa's daydreams and bring her back to a sad reality.
"I do," Mikasa replied briefly.
Well, maybe marrying Levi is a sad thing for Mikasa. A girl her on her age is supposed to marry her lover, have fun with a friend her age instead of marrying a 30-year-old man like Levi. That's what Levi had in mind.
They exchanged rings, the ring surprisingly bought by his uncle, Kenny. Levi can say it's an expensive ring, he believes Kenny bought it at a famous jewelry store in Sina.
The priest continued his words, but this time Levi really didn't pay attention to what the priest was saying. The focus is only on the ring that circles his ring finger, tying it coldly. That feels weird. Then he glanced at Mikasa.
Mikasa's black hairwas tied on a simple bun behind the veil caught Levi's attention, vaguely his mother's face appears in his memory. His mother also has black hair. He ever knews someone has a black hair besides him was his mother.
Levi had that infinite question in mind as Mikasa squeezed his hand gently, and Levi turned to the woman next to him. He finds Mikasa's dark eyes staring at him with a hard-to-read stare.
"Ehem..." The priest cleared his throat.
"I said I just announced you're officially married," the smiling priest said.
Levi nodded, "Right…" he said unsure how to reply.
"You may kiss your bride," he continued.
Right. Levi doesn't remember that weddings has an events like this. He did not prepare for this..
Without thinking any longer, Levi brings Mikasa's waist in one hand, pulls her to him and gives her a peck on her lips. Beside Mikasa's cold hands, surprisingly her lips feels warm.
