Unmei Force Shattered Heroes: X-Changed Will
Final Chapter: The Hope Spot
Entry Number 0, Timeline Number X
This is it, the final timeline…
Even though it may not seem like it, I feel that this is the last timeline that X-Gaster will create.
I swore that I would see this through to the end, no matter how much pain and suffering I have to sift through.
I owe it to the X-Gaster I believed in… I owe it to Frisk and Chara… I owe it to Alphys… I owe it to the countless personalities that were rewritten over and over again.
I managed to find X-Gaster, somehow he looked as if he was pleased with the results. I guess my prediction was on the right track.
It seems that Alphys has de-aged as a result, and she looks like an actual toddler with the mind of a researcher, which makes her quite cute in her opinion.
Anyways, Frisk was found, and he was completely numb. I wouldn't blame him, he had the chance to OVERWRITE everything for the better, but X-Gaster made it so that he had no choice but to RESET for a different timeline.
This will be the last time I'll ever take care of him… I only hope that I can make his memories of it cherishable.
"Howdy! I'm Asriel and this is my brother, Frisk. What's your name?" A child Asriel asked, beside a stoic Frisk, as they were inside the flowery throne room of the castle in the Underground, facing cute child versions of Sans and Papyrus, wearing fur coats and beanies.
"I'm Sans." Sans answered back.
"AND I'M PAPYRUS, NICE TO MEET YOU!" Papyrus introduced himself
"Nice to meet you, too!" Asriel smiled back, before turning to Toriel, who was with Asgore and X-Gaster, as well as Richard, as they were enjoying tea together. "Mommy, can Sans and Papyrus play with us in our room?"
"Of course, my children. But once you have finished, please pick up your toys, alright?" Toriel told the child group with a warm tone.
"Sans, Papyrus…" X-Gaster said, as Sans and Papyrus tensed up. "Play nice and do not forget your manners."
Sans and Papyrus lit up at X-Gaster's words, as they responded with eager 'Yessir's, before Asriel grabbed Papyrus's hand.
"Let's go, Frisk!" Asriel exclaimed, as they ran down the room, past Frisk, who watched them pass, before following them slowly.
"Our sons look so happy! They're going to be good friends for sure." Asgore commented.
"Indeed." X-Gaster admitted, taking a sip from his tea-cup.
"Well, Frisk is a good friend to make." Richard admitted, before taking a deep sip of his own cup of tea. "And I'm sure that they'll be the greatest friends that graced this world. I can see that."
"Little one, don't be shy, you can also play with them." Toriel addressed the child Alphys, who was dressed in a shirt and overalls.
"No. They're all stupid." Alphys scoffed, as Toriel's face fell from the denial.
"Mind your manners, Alphys." X-Gaster scolded Alphys.
"You shouldn't call them stupid, just because they want to have fun." Richard frowned as well, placing a firm hand on Alphy's head, which annoyed her slightly. "I apologise, your Highness, she is just simply someone who prefers to play on her lonesome. I'm sure that she didn't mean to be so rude like she said before. I'm sure that she won't cause trouble for your son, I assure you."
"Is that so? I'm glad that you're considerate of others." Toriel responded back, as Richard rubbed the back of his head, as Alphys frowned deeply.
"Oh gosh, my baby!" Toriel exclaimed with horror, as she was beside Richard and X-Gaster, with the latter observing the situation with a disappointed expression, as Frisk was on top of a very tall tree, standing on the topmost branch, as various monsters with wings, and a very long-necked dog tried to help him. "Hurry! That branch won't support his weight for too long!"
"He refuses to leave the tree, your Majesty!" One of the winged monsters remarked.
"...Not good, not good at all…" Richard remarked, biting his lip in worry.
"...That's enough. Sans, use your magic." X-Gaster stated, as Sans popped out from behind him.
"Y-Yes, sir!" Sans remarked, as he raised an hand, while one of his eyes turned blue, as a blue aura formed around Frisk.
"That's right, keep at it, Sans… We can bring him down slowly and carefully-" Richard encouraged Sans.
X-Gaster did not respond, as he then looked at his hand, before a vision flowed through his head, as it was then cut off, as his face turned desperate.
"No… NO!" X-Gaster exclaimed, as he then grabbed San's hand and wrenched it away, breaking San's focus. "STOP IT!"
With the focus broken, the force on Frisk suddenly went wild, fracturing the branch underneath him, as Richard's expression paled, before he then rushed towards Frisk, as Toriel gasped in horror.
Richard then managed to barely reach Frisk, sliding across the ground on his back, as he caught Frisk, although the impact was strong enough to cause his ribs to bruise from the falling force Frisk had, and his body cushioning most of the said force, as he let out a groan of pain. X-Gaster then clenched his side, as he fell down, panting heavily and sweating.
Toriel then rushed over, with her arms out. "FRISK!" She cried, as Richard slowly rose up, holding Frisk and putting him down.
"He's fine… I managed to catch him in time." Richard remarked, before his ribs throbbed again, causing him to clench his chest. "...Urgh!"
"His chest must have been fractured from the impact…!" One of the monsters remarked, as they moved to check on him.
"Careful! Any touching on him might worsen his condition! We need to move him delicately!" Another monster remarked.
"It's all my fault…" Sans remarked, with his hands to his mouth, and horror in his eyes, before he then turned towards X-Gaster with disbelief. "Why did you…"
Sans then turned silent, when he saw that X-Gaster was smiling, as more sweat dropped down his face, as the vision returned again.
"Ha… Ha… Much better." He breathed heavily.
Richard also saw it, as his face turned stony, as doubt brewed inside his heart.
Richard then burst through the door, as he managed to force it open, despite the fact that it was closed.
"X-Gaster, we need to talk-" Richard remarked, entering a storage room, as X-Gaster's arm was fizzling away, while Alphys was supplying magic food to him. "...I should have known."
"What are you doing here? I thought that you needed to be checked for injuries." X-Gaster responded back with some strain.
"Don't pretend that you care for me that much." Richard answered back firmly. "I was cleared off with a clean bill of health. My chest may be bruised, but it will heal naturally with the help of magic food. You're feeling it, the deterioration of being with only a part of your SOUL."
"How are you sure?" X-Gaster answered back.
"I did tell you, a part of you is missing, and the only thing that could cause something as bad at this, is a problem with your SOUL." Richard stated. "I knew this long before the ninth timeline began, but I kept it a secret, because it is a topic that neither of us are willing to breach, until today."
"You need to leave, Lord X-Gaster needs-" Alphys stated.
"You can do what you want with X-Gaster as you wish, Alphys. I only need him to talk to me." Richard responded back. "And until I get my answers, I'm not leaving, no matter what threats you use, what means you attempt."
"...You're suddenly so stubborn. What is the issue then?" X-Gaster growled.
"...Why did you try to cripple Frisk there?" Richard answered back. "...I know that what you did just today was no accident, you premeditated on it, even if it was only in a few moments."
"...I don't need to explain everything to you, in order to get to the future I need." X-Gaster responded back.
"And how is breaking Frisk meant to bring you closer to whatever perfection you're trying to achieve!?" Richard snapped back. "This is only going to cause the situation to break down! I don't know what your goals even are, at this moment. You say that you want a perfect world, but what you're doing is contrary to everything! Tell me then, where's the connection!?"
"...I will not repeat this, this is none of your business." X-Gaster stated, with a more stern tone. "Don't make me have to discipline you myself."
"I'm not afraid of that. What's more, is that I saw the face that you had. Somehow, you did that out of fear, but then you are happy about it…" Richard responded back. "I know enough about psychology to know that a response like that is only elicited when you're at the verge of losing something, and barely managed to get it back. What was that thing, X-Gaster? Was that the future you predicted?"
X-Gaster fell silent, as Richard took a deep and long breath.
"If a bit more of Frisk's suffering will bring an end to this entire mess… I'm willing to allow it. But utterly making his life hell will only make things far, far worse." Richard answered back. "...Take it from me, there is nothing good in kicking a downed man more, other than earning his undying hatred. And even the smallest defiances can ruin the grandest of plans, if not anticipated. I hope that you'll actually care enough about me, to actually consider my words. I still am trying to help you, despite everything you have done. Show some gratitude by actually showing me the respect for being a good assistant for you."
Richard then left in a hurry, as X-Gaster turned away, while gritting his teeth, as if Richard's words infuriated him.
Entry Number 1, Timeline Number X
It has been a fair while since this timeline began in the Underground…
X-Gaster definitely decided to be a bit more active, considering that he literally tried to cripple Frisk out of some reason that I can't fully understand.
Either way, he's becoming more and more unhinged, more obsessed with something other the perfection he preached.
And I don't like it… not one bit.
Frisk broke through the barrier, like in the main universe, and similarly as well, the monsters have been welcomed in a more receptive human society.
I wonder what will happen then… and what X-Gaster intends to do.
Whatever it is, I won't let Frisk end up suffering another breakdown.
This is already too much.
Richard and X-Gaster looked around the community, keeping watch over Sans and Papyrus, who was with Alphys, before a younger Undyne met with them.
"That human Frisk is the best!" Undyne exclaimed with excitement, pumping her arms out. "Thanks to him, I've travelled all over the globe! The surface is huge!"
"THAT'S GREAT!" Papyrus exclaimed.
"Gerson is waiting for you, Undyne. You should go." Alphys told Undyne.
"Hey! You know my name… Did I introduce myself before?" Undyne asked back with curiosity, with a finger to her mouth, as Alphys froze for a moment.
"Hey, are you okay?" Sans asked, before he then saw Alphys turn her head away, as her hands trembled visibly, while her expression twisted into one of sorrow and pain, causing concern for the skeletal youngster. "Alphys, if you're not fine, we can just-"
"No, no… I'm fine." Alphys answered back, as she let her face return to normal, and faced Undyne, who was worried as well. "...You were banned from the Library for setting a cookbook on fire."
"HA HA! I'm still famous!" Undyne burst with joy, before her face turned worried. "By the way, if you think that I remind you of something bad… I'm sorry about that. Anyways, see ya, nerds!"
Undyne then left, as Alphys bowed her head down, while Papyrus turned to her.
"ARE YOU ALRIGHT? YOU SEEM LIKE THAT YOU'RE SAD ABOUT SOMETHING. HOW ABOUT WE-" Papyrus asked, as he offered a hand, only for it to be slapped away.
"Don't touch me." Alphys declared with a dry tone, before she then walked away, as Papyrus looked at her with worry, while Sans looked fairly miffed at her attitude towards his brother.
X-Gaster and Richard noticed that Alphys was walking over to them, as he grabbed Richard's hand with a firm grip.
"...I want to talk with you alone." Alphys declared firmly to Richard.
"X-Gaster… I think that this talk is long due. Do you mind?" Richard asked X-Gaster.
"...Do as you wish, but make sure she comes back without that attitude." X-Gaster answered back.
Richard then grabbed Alphys through a sukima, taking them to the top of a hill far away from the city, as Richard turned to her.
"Alphys… Whatever happened back there… I'm sorry that you had to remember such terrible things-" Richard said, before Alphy's fist pounded against his chest, causing him to pause.
"Why… Why did you have to make me wear that amulet…? Why did you make me have to remember everything… down to the emotions I felt…!?" Alphys remarked, as her voice turned more and more livid, as her eyes were filled with anger as well. "If you didn't give me that amulet, then I wouldn't have to feel all this suffering just by looking at Undyne!"
"...Because I'm selfish." Richard admitted firmly. "...I wanted to keep the old Alphys that I cared for, and that's so wrong for you, to have to mingle the pain of the past with the present being. I hurt you as well, but I will say this: I don't regret what I have done, because knowing that you can still feel properly… means that you're as much as Alphys as you were before, not just a simple assistant to X-Gaster."
"I didn't need these useless emotions!" Alphys screamed back, as she pounded his chest several times. "It would have been far better if I couldn't feel anything else, because at least I can accept everything without being so hurt inside."
"...But turning away from everything only hurts more. I know that along with many things." Richard declared. "...I once ran away from my emotions, my problems… and they came back to hurt me a thousand-fold more. The pain you feel now is a necessary pain, to ensure that you are yourself, and that you can genuinely feel proud of being a stronger person through this adversity, and not feel like that everything that was right, feel like poisoned lies to you."
Alphys fell silent, as Richard gently embraced Alphys in his arms. "...It's okay to hate me, it's okay to hate yourself, to feel sad, to feel angry, to feel disappointed. It's normal to feel everything life has in store." Richard answered back. 'Without sadness, you wouldn't know true happiness. Without despair and misery, you can't understand hope and happiness. Each bad emotion has its positive counterpart, that makes life worth living. You just need to accept what's bad about you, so that you can be proud of what's good about you. You endured all of this with your feelings up until now, and I'm proud of you… You're far more stronger than me, and you deserve a better life."
Alphys began to tear up, before she then cried into Richard's chest, her emotions pouring out, while Richard silently comforted her.
Entry Number 2, Timeline Number X
It feels better, knowing that Alphys is willing to let her emotions show for once, because i can feel hope that she'll be back to normal, after all of this is done. As I told her… she deserved better, and I gave her that chance to get what she deserved: a better life.
Still, it didn't make my overall mood better, because in the following years, the entire situation was dreary. Frisk is acting like he barely cares about his life, and X-Gaster is showing that he's patiently waiting for something to happen.
All I could do, is do the best to care for Frisk and everyone…
I made friends with Muffet and Undyne again, and the encounters with them helped to ensure that I never felt like that everything I done was in vain.
As long as I make minute manipulations of my own, I can find a way to change the larger outcome for the better.
Perhaps… just perhaps… the key to the project that I have shelved for so long… is to use the antithesis of X-Gaster's reality…
Hopes and dreams… And a lot of it.
So I started my journey in giving people hope and achieving their dreams, and putting that emotional energy into tangible form that I could fuel my button with.
It did start to work…
But then five years after that talk with Alphys…
Frisk himself decided that enough is enough, and took matters into his own, ruining my chances to fix everything.
Frisk… what caused you to go to these extremes…!?
Richard felt the world shift, as the entire world turned more bleak, causing him to rush towards Frisk, as he realised that something was wrong, as he noticed that there was a large crowd around the front of the Dreemur household, while he was hearing countless voices emanating from it.
"Kill him!"
"He's a demon!"
"He doesn't deserve to live!"
Those were the various cries emanating from the human crowd, as they were wielding various riot weapons, ranging from knives to pitchforks to wooden clubs. Richard floated up, as he noticed that Frisk was slumping against a wall, wounded heavily from the crowd, as several monsters tried to get through to help Frisk.
"Frisk… what did you do…?" Richard remarked with horror, seeing that the entire human crowd was being controlled by Frisk, due to the fact that all of them had crossed-out faces with purple-edged white glitching crosses.
X-Gaster then floated down, as Frisk raised his head towards him, with a triumphant look on his face. Richard realised what this meant, as he rushed down towards Frisk, just as Undyne got across to stand in front of Frisk.
"Touch him and I swear I will tear you to pieces!" Undyne threatened back with grit fangs and fists out.
"Stupid Monster!" One of the human crowd members spat, before the entire crwod fell upon Frisk and Undyne, as they were being overwhelmed, as Richard tried to non-lethally take down the crowd members, although there was too many for him to properly do the task, as he was taking hits and injuries everywhere.
All of the sudden, a rain of X-Gaster's hands fell upon the crowd, as death cries sounded, with each and every one of the human member skewered to death, through head or heart, as Richard clutched his arm, covered in wounds, while Frisk was in a similar state, as Undyne was heavily injured.
X-Gaster then gestured for Richard to take Undyne, as Richard complied, picking her up in a bridal carry, before they all entered the Dreemur household, with everyone else horrified by the events.
"Tell them what happened." X-Gaster told Frisk with an uncaring tone.
"I was attacked by other humans… and U-Undyne and Richard tried to save me." Frisk responded back with a weak voice.
"Forgive me for my failure to realise the danger. It came all the sudden… I… I won't let it happen again." Richard apologised, laying down Undyne, and then prostrating on the floor as a gesture of begging for forgiveness from the Dreemur family.
"I suggest you form a group of guards to protect him while finding a way to resolve this conflict." X-Gaster suggested.
"But-" Frisk argued.
"No, brother. He's right." Asriel declared firmly.
"You gave monsters freedom. We promised to take care of you. It doesn't matter if this leads to a new war against humans." Asgore stated. "We'll recruit the strongest monsters immediately."
Frisk looked with despair, which intensified when he saw the glare that X-Gaster gave him, and the one that Richard gave, slightly raising his head to do so.
Frisk sat on a flower-field, as he was writing a picture of everyone he cherished, including Richard, and not X-Gaster, inside his heart-locket, as there was the word 'FREEDOM' etched on the other part of the interior. When he was finished, he smiled at his work, while Chara's phantom looked at it sadly.
"Do you like it?" Frisk asked Chara mentally.
"...I think it would be better if you made a new heart locket." Chara answered back.
"...You're starting to sound like him." Frisk responded back with frustration, before he and Chara heard the sound of footsteps.
They then turned towards it, as it was Richard, who was still bandaged from the injuries he recieved.
"Richard? What are you doing here?" Frisk asked.
"I came to talk with you." Richard answered back with a stony tone.
"Look, what happened before… I'm sorry that I made it happen, but I had to find a way to out-wit X-Gaster!" Frisk exclaimed with a pleading expression.
"...And that involves trying to kill yourself, and turn everything into a bloody mess?" Richard responded back with a low growl.
"...I had to! He needs me for his plans! If I put myself in danger, he'll have to do something! You saw it, he was forced to kill the protest crowd with his own hands! He didn't OVERWRITE the timeline!" Frisk stated. "Just give me more time, I'll find X-Gaster's limits and then we will-"
"...And who gave you the right to declare the lives of the protestors yours to use?" Richard answered back, as his glare hardened, causing Frisk to instinctively gulp, while Chara was shocked at the situation.
"What's wrong with him? He looks as if we're responsible for a lot of bad things." Chara asked Frisk.
"I… I don't know…!" Frisk exclaimed back, before he then opened his mouth. "I… They're not even real people! They're just constructs that X-Gaster created to fool us all! Why do you care about this so much?"
"...So you're telling me that Toriel and Frisk are X-Gaster's puppets? That Asriel is one too? That Sans and Papyrus are as well?" Richard answered back, as he clenched a fist, as his scowl deepened.
"...Just look at them!" Frisk shouted back. "They don't even remember us! In a single snap, they could be turned against us in a sudden, and they could suffer horrible deaths as well! In fact, once I'm done, I can give everyone a better world! A world where everyone can live-"
"THE WORLD IS NOT YOURS TO CONTROL!" Richard snapped back with anger, throwing his arms out. "Are you saying that Asriel's promise back then means nothing!? So what if all of this has caused suffering for you!? This doesn't warrant all of this! You're just venting on others, just because you think it makes you feel better! Look at me, I still remain the same, and I'm in a far better state than you are in! I never did any of this, and I never gave up hope for a better tomorrow through perseverance! I even had a way to fix all of this, until you ruined it!"
"And that's why he'll always win!" Frisk roared back, as his eyes glowed. "BECAUSE YOU'RE A USELESS CARETAKER THAT ONLY DRAGS ME AND CHARA DOWN!"
Richard then froze, as Frisk then realised the words that he said, as he seemed to have skewered Richard's heart, from the look of betrayal on his face, as Chara was in shock, looking towards Frisk, who had his hands to his mouth, as his anger cleared away for remorse and regret.
"...What did you say?" Richard asked with a deceptive soft tone.
"Richard, I didn't mean to… I'm sorry! I wasn't thinking-" Frisk desperately pleaded.
"No." Richard spat the word, as his face turned hateful. "The way you said it, you really meant it from the bottom of your heart. I see how it is, so this is what you truly think of me."
Richard then turned to leave, as Frisk tried to grab Richard by the leg, causing him to stop, as he turned down towards Frisk, who was crying.
"Please, don't leave me! You said that there was a way to fix this?" Frisk bawled, as Chara looked towards Richard with a torn look on his face. "I'll help you! Please, give me a second chance!"
Richard took a moment to look at Frisk, as for a single moment, he saw a reflection of his own face, bloodied and maniacal, causing him to turn away, and wrench his leg from Frisk, before continuing to walk away.
"...I wish I could give you it. But you would only waste it doing more terrible things." Richard answered back. "...Papyrus was wrong… there are some people who don't change for the better, even if given the chance. Myself included… and you as well, Frisk.'"
Frisk then froze, as he looked at Richard, his body shuddering, and tears spilling from his eyes.
"If you think that I'm so useless as your foster brother… as your caretaker…" Richard answered bac k with a cold tone"...That's fine. It's fine if you hate me so much, because at this point… I lost all capacity to understand or forgive you. Instead of trying to be a better person, you decided to become like X-Gaster, despite lying to yourself. At least X-Gaster was direct with his intentions, and he did show some signs of redemption, if only briefly. But you… You continued to walk down this dark path, despite all of my attempts to gently sway you away from it, and worst of all, you spit in my face for everything I've done for you. The good memories I gave you to believe in, the genuine advice I gave to make you a better life, and the love of a caretaker who loved you as a younger brother… you threw it all away because you think it's useless."
Richard then opened a sukima, as he slowly walked towards it.
"From now on, don't rely on me anymore. Like you abandoned Chara, you can just abandon me. It doesn't matter to me, because I've already given up trying to help a child who only knows how to throw tantrums that hurt many other people, and throw spite and hate around." Richard declared with oozing disdain. "I know you can hear this, Chara… and you're no better. I believed in you, and this is what I get for caring for someone who once looked up to me, only to help cause terrible things. This is the last time I'll ever talk to you directly, as your brother, as your caretaker. Goodbye, Frisk… Chara…"
Richard then rushed through the sukima, as Frisk tried to grab Richard, only for him to close the sukima, as Frisk collapsed on the ground, sobbing into the bed of flowers out of agony from Richard's heart-rending declaration, as Chara was in tears as well.
Richard then reached the Dreemur household, as Asgore and Toriel were there, as they saw Richard come in.
"Oh, it's you. You look like you had a terrible time out there…" Asgore said with fatherly concern in his eyes. "...Are you okay?"
"I… I need time alone." Richard answered back with a slight choking sound, which made Toriel very worried. "...Can I just head to my bedroom…? Is Asriel in his room?"
"...He's not here at the moment." Toriel responded back. "...Are you sure that you don't need anything?"
"...I don't feel like I need one." Richard lied, before he then headed towards his bedroom, which was fairly standard.
Richard slowly leaned forward against one of the walls, with his hands touching the bedroom wall, and his head pointed down.
And as the torrent of emotional pain flowed through him… He screamed with bitter agony and heart-ache.
It continued even when his throat went hoarse from the sheer volume he was screaming at, as the entire neighbourhood was shaken from his screaming.
It still continued when Toriel and Asgore rushed upstairs to see that the carpet of his room were stained with Richard's hot tears. Toriel embraced the screaming Richard, who immediately rested his head against Toriel's shoulder, as the maternal goat monster gently stroked Richard's back in an attempt to calm Richard down.
And only when Asriel arrived in time, did Richard stop, as he fell into a slumping mess against Toriel, letting out broken and choked sobs.
Entry Number 3, Timeline Number X
...I don't want to talk about what happened…
I don't want to even remember a portion of it…
All this pain and suffering…
Just let it end…
Let it end, please…
I want this entire nightmare to end...
Richard was silently sitting on the edge of a fountain, as the plaza was desolate, due to the fact that the humans and monsters were isolating from each other, due to the fact that there were even more incidents where Frisk was being attacked by human dissidents, furthering the rift, despite the efforts of Richard to bridge it through kind acts, throughout the ten years since he distanced himself from Frisk.
After a while, he noticed that there was a set of footsteps, as he slowly rose his head, and saw that it was an older Asriel, who looked at Richard with concern on his face, causing Richard to twitch with annoyance.
"...Richard…" Asriel said.
"What do you want?" Richard asked with a dry tone, as his eyes were sunken. "...Don't you have other things to do, brother?"
"Mom wants you back home… She thinks that the therapy that you have been assigned to, is not effective at all." Asriel responded. "Despite how much help we tried to get, none of it seems to help you."
"Hahaha, you think…?" Richard bitterly laughed, before he then threw his arms out. "...Not like it matters. The purpose of therapy is trying to find a way to solve the problem that the person has, by first knowing what the problem is with sufficient detail… Like they have enough for mine…"
"That's because you won't open up to them!" Asriel argued back.
"I gave them what I wanted." Richard answered back. "It's their fault for being so useless at their jobs. They're supposed to fix me back to normal, and they can't do anything about it. Just like me… Everything I do is pointless. I may as well just sit back and watch the world burn because of this stupid nonsense."
"Why are you like this…!?" Asriel snapped, with his arms out. "First, you became so distant towards Frisk, and then you began to turn into this! And I know that it had something to do with what happened ten years ago!"
"Even if I told you, you wouldn't understand. This issue isn't even rooted in this world." Richard answered back. "Neither does Toriel, neither does Asgore, neither does Sans, neither does Papyrus. No-one would be able to even believe me if I told them what the problem is. I told a few of these therapists, and they pretended that I was delirious, because that's so much closer to reality! I can understand, who wants to believe that their entire life's meaning is as miniscule as a mote of dust in this entire universe!?"
"What do you mean…?" Asriel responded back.
"I'm tired… I'M TIRED!" Richard groaned, as he then began to wildly shout, rising up to his feet. "Tired of everything I do amounting to nothing! I try to help resolve this entire conflict, and it doesn't even change a single thing! I tried to make someone I cared about, who's fallen into the darkness, to see the light again, and they only became worse and worse! I tried to be a better person, but everything I do only FUCKS me up further! I want all of this failing to end! I want this feeling of self-hatred to just die! But the world doesn't care… it continues to grind the hopes and dreams of people into nothing…"
Asriel then walked over to Richard, before placing both of his hands on his shoulder, as Richard let his head fall.
"...Richard…" Asriel remarked, before he then hugged him tightly. "...I know that everything looks bad, but I know that there is a hope that things can get better. You just need some help, that's all. I think I get it now… because you did everything alone, you ended up feeling like everything wrong is your fault. How about this: If I help you bridge the gap… then maybe you'll succeed. And then you won't feel so bad anymore. I promise that I won't abandon you. You just need to believe in me. Can I ask that of you? For the sake of everyone who still cares for you, like Mom, Dad, Sans, Papyrus, Muffet, Monster Kid, and countless other humans and monsters?"
Richard slowly lifted his head, as he looked back at Asriel, before then looking away, before he then looked away, as his vision blurred slightly, before he then saw another Asriel… the first Asriel that he met and grew up with.
The vision seemed to give Richard a spark of hope, before he then returned Asriel's hug, and sinking into it, as Asriel smiled with relief in his expression.
"Thank you… thank you, Asriel…" Richard declared, as his voice restored some of its passion and spirit. "...I'll try… only because you're the only one who I can love dearly… I'm sorry for being like an idiot… Let's do this then… God of Hyperdeath, and the Bright Saviour."
"Ack, you still remember that phase!?" Asriel stuttered with a flustered expression, letting go of Richard, before seeing the hopeful smile on his face, as Asriel smiled back. "...Yeah, I guess. Together?"
Asriel then put a fist out, as Richard tapped it with his own.
"...Together." Richard nodded with determination in his eyes. "Let's start now."
Entry Number 4, Timeline Number X
I didn't believe it… But Asriel returned the hope that I gave him a long time ago…
Thanks to him, I was wrenched free of the clutches of the choking despair within me…
Might be a bit corny… but it feels far better than feeling shit.
It took a lot of effort, many mistakes and some bad times…
But Asriel and I, piece by piece, monster by monster, human by human…
We undid Frisk's influence on them, by using the prototype RESTORE button. I made sure that Asriel made it a super secret that only we should know, but then again, he only knows it's a SOUL trait, and that's enough misdirection to ensure no-one figures out what I have done.
Thanks to it all, we were able to reach the point that we can declare human and monster as one unified society once again.
But even still, I feel like that Frisk will do something terrible in the peace ceremony coming up soon. I know he will…
It doesn't matter… I may not have forgiven yet… and I will stop his plans dead in the tracks…
But I will not truly throw him to the wolves… Neither X-Gaster or Frisk will achieve their goals, so long as I'm in play.
Let's do this.
"Isn't this great? Our charity helped!" Asriel exclaimed, as Richard was adjusting the goat monster's ceremonial robe. "We did it! We can finally put all of this misunderstanding behind our backs!"
"Only because you believed in me… And because everyone helped, including our dear parents." Richard remarked with a smile, looking towards Toriel and Frisk, who were quite happy, as they were holding a stony-faced Frisk with them.
"I'm so proud of you two." Toriel told Asriel and Richard, who were similarly dressed in ceremonial robes. "You managed to bring humans and monsters back together, after a few years of building back relationships between the two races."
"Now then, let the ceremony begin." Asgore answered back, before he then gestured for the others to step onto the stage where the ceremony will start.
As they moved onto the stage, Richard glared at Frisk, who looked back without any emotions in his eyes. They took their place on the centre of the stage, which was draped with white banners with the words 'Peace' and 'World' on them. Before them was a large crowd of humans and monsters, as Richard could see that Papyrus was among them, carrying the armless lizard monster that was Monster Kid on his shoulder, and X-Gaster beside them. Sans himself stood guard on the stage, beside Frisk.
Asgore immediately started to clear his throat, as Richard looked around, taking in the sight of the results of his labour, before it then melted off, when he saw that Frisk was smiling as well. Suddenly, Frisk opened his eye, which was purple, as it was pointed at Sans, causing Richard to feel a chill down his spine.
X-Gaster noticed the malicious intent, as he rushed forward through the crowd, while Richard grabbed Toriel and Asriel by their sleeves firmly, as Sans smiled as well, as one of his eyes turned purple as well.
"What's wrong, Richard?" Asriel asked. "Is there someone-"
Suddenly, Sans jumped back, before summoning a large Gaster Blaster, as it charged up its attack, before firing where the group was, as it kicked up a large cloud of black dust. When the attack and the resulting cloud disappeared, the group were protected by a wall of sharp bones erected by X-Gaster, and a blue barrier around the front, formed by Richard. X-Gaster was in front of the group, while Richard was not far behind, as Toriel and Asriel was sprawled on the ground, shocked at the turn of events, like Asgore was, while the entire crowd was stunned silent.
Sans's eye then returned to normal, as his actions processed in him for a moment, as fear crossed his face, as he turned and ran away at full sprint.
"X-Gaster… I'll get Sans." Richard told X-Gaster, as he leapt over the bone barrier. "...Go check on the Dreemurs!"
X-Gaster was about to protest, before Richard rushed after Sans, disappearing into the city, as he looked back at Frisk, who had a smirk on his face, as Toriel held him tightly in his arms.
Richard managed to chase after Sans, before cornering him inside an alleyway, as the skeleton collapsed against the wall.
"Richard… S-Stay back…" Sans remarked, as he looked at his hands, which were trembling. "I… I did something terrible!"
"Sans, take a deep breath, calm down…" Richard instructed Sans, who began to hyper-ventilate. "I know that everything is going bad at the moment, but panicking won't solve anything. It's just me, no-one else here. You can trust me, we'll find out what happened."
Sans began to breathe heavily for a moment, before it slowed down into gentle panting.
"...I know that it wasn't your fault that you attacked the Dreemurrs." Richard answered back. "...You were under an influence that forced you to act, even if you would have never done it willingly. So please, just trust me. Tell me, who made you do this?"
"...It was a human like Frisk… he did something to me…" Sans responded back. "He made me attack them, as if he was trying to kill Frisk for something terrible. I don't know… but they want to destroy this world, and Frisk is somehow involved in it! You have to believe me, they don't-"
"I know." Richard responded back. "Don't worry, I know who you're talking about… and we'll get him together. We'll clear your name, like we cleared that misunderstanding. All you need to do, is-"
Before Richard could finish his sentence, he felt time reset again, as it went back to the peace ceremony, back in their original positions. Sans looked around with shock, as he looked at Frisk, then at Richard, as both of them were shocked as well.
Richard looked around, as he easily deduced that the world was RESET by someone. And when he turned towards X-Gaster, he noticed that one side of his face was melting, as he clenched it with a hand.
"...X-Gaster… What is this…?" Richard remarked.
"Lord X-Gaster, please get a hold of yourself!" Alphys exclaimed, as they were inside the desolate basement of the Dreemur household, as X-Gaster was kneeling on the ground, as most of his body was melting. "You look terrible-"
"SHUT UP AND JUST TAKE NOTES!" X-Gaster roared, as his voice deepened due to the melting state of his body, as Alphys yelped in fear, as she was surrounded by a circle of skeletal hands with black spikes, as their tips were dangerously close to her body. She also saw that X-Gaster's one functional eye was red.
X-Gaster then collapsed suddenly, as the hands disappeared. Alphys then slowly hefted X-Gaster against a wall, before X-Gaster then began to consume the magic food rations ravenously, until his body reached a stable state, as he fell into restful slumber to recover what remained of his melted state.
Alphys then opened a log, as she began to write in it.
Entry Number 15, Timeline Number 10
XGaster was forced to use the RESET button to repair most of the damages in the data caused by the experiment.
Since he's focused on recovering, he doesn't mind me taking my notes, so here I am.
Entry Number 16, Timeline Number 10
I don't like how he treats the experiments as a thing. They are two humans.
What's more… I'm detesting the fact that despite Richard's loyalty, X-Gaster has thrown him aside.
I wished that he would have gotten something deserving for everything he has done for all of this.
He wanted to help everything and everyone… and this… is his unjust reward...

It's a beautiful day outside.
Entry Number 17, Timeline Number 10
We established we couldn't defeat our creator. Then why are you desperate for help?
Despite having the same SOUL, you cannot see what the future has shown him.
Frisk, Chara… You're not doing the right thing. You're only following in his footsteps, without what defined his successes.
Richard knew this, and decided that there was another way to do what you want…
It took me a while… But I saw hope… A hope that he lit up…

We ran out of chocolate milk.
After Alphys finished the last log that she would make, noticing that X-Gaster has finally recovered to the point that he can finally properly act again.
She then closed the log, before walking towards the door, as she entered through it.
However, what was on the other side, was not the Dreemur household, was the Doodle Sphere, as there were blue strings everywhere, falling, as well as the torn fragments of glowing pages.
She looked around, as there were countless heroes standing on the various islands, and various other Sans as well, with the most notable ones being Ink, who was emotionless and standing in front of a monstrous version of X-Gaster, with clawed hands, a Sans made of black, red, yellow and blue, with error messages crossing his body, and the original Sans, who was standing with the entire cast of his universe, including a boy who was in a angelic form, as he was prepared to fight against X-Gaster and Ink, with the weapon in his hand. She also noticed that there was also a group led by a soldier who seemed to have spiked hair that was black like Richard's, with an ancient blade on his back, as he looked at Ink and X-Gaster with scorn. The third notable group was led by a boy the age of Richard, with brown hair and red robes, wielding a greatsword with the power of the sun itself, as he was the closest to X-Gaster. There was also Chara, who looked slightly glitched himself.
"Such a pity…" X-Gaster remarked, as the glowing paper fragments decorated the entire Doodle Sphere. "In that case, we will continue on our own."
X-Gaster then summoned a copy of Ink's brush, before tossing it up, as Ink caught it, with purple paint coating the tip, as he threw a splash of the paint onto the glitchy Sans, who looked at the two with annoyance.
"HEY!" The glitched Sans remarked, before the paint turned into stringed restraints around his entire body. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?"
"None of your business." Ink remarked, teleporting before the glitched Sans, and knocking him into the air, and creating a splash of paint that the other Sans disappeared into. After a while, X-Gaster raised a hand, extending it through the paint rift, before pulling out a half-purple half red SOUL, as a muffled cry was heard from the rift itself.
Alphys was in shock, as she watched X-Gaster put the soul before him, as X-Gaster's half-empty, half-purple SOUL was shown, as the half in his hand returned to him, while the red DETERMINATION half disappeared from Chara's own, as he was in despair, while the red SOUL was whole again, in X-Gaster's hand, while Chara was left with only an outline, which broke apart.
"All my efforts… for nothing…" Chara remarked, as tears of hopelessness and grief ran down his eyes. "I'm supposed to never lose… It's not fair! IT'S NOT FAIR!"
Chara's last cry shook the entire world, before he then disappeared in a flash of white pixels, as the heart-locket he wielded clattered on the earthly ground.
At Chara's death, many heroes were shocked, while others were hardened by the event, especially the heroic soldier, and some had sadness, especially the brown-haired hero.
"...Chara… It shouldn't have come to this." The brown-haired hero remarked with regret. "...We'll make sure that this is done right."
Alphys was shaken by what she had saw, before she then turned back to X-Gaster.
"Are you crying? Oh, Chara…" X-Gaster remarked with a mocking tone. "We knew this would happen. You had a lot of potential, but you still have so much to learn."
"He has nothing to learn from someone like you." The soldier growled back, pointing his blade. "...At least he tried to do something good, even though it was through bad actions. But you… A monster like you… doesn't deserve to make others in your twisted image!"
"Your opinion is irrelevant." X-Gaster responded back, as he summoned the heart-locket to his fingers, causing some of the group members to tense up. "That's why I need you to rest and watch, since you are not going to apologise for everything you did, Chara."
He then summoned a plethora of skeletal hands with spikes, as he looked toward the groups, and the other Sans there, before he then launched them forward.
"You won't be taking us down so easily-" The angelic warrior remarked.
Before they could reach their destination, the hands were sliced apart by an unknown force, as X-Gaster was moderately surprised.
"...Hmm?" X-Gaster remarked, before he then saw a sukima, as he recognised the owner. "...Ahh, so it is you…"
Alphys turned towards the sukima, as she was shocked to see that it was Richard who stepped out of it, as he was stoic, although he seemed to look as if he was in a much better state than he ever was.
"...X-Gaster." Richard stated with an even tone. "...So it's come down to this after all."
"Richard!? But you were severely injured to the brink of death!" The soldier remarked with shock.
"It's alright, Siege…" Richard told the now-named soldier, turning to him with a faint smile. "...This is my responsibility. I allowed all of this to happen… it's my mess to fix."
"Richard…" The brown-haired leader remarked.
"Gus… Thank you for taking care of my friends while I was in such a sorry state." Richard answered back. "Thanks to Yukari, thanks to Lady Arceus… I'm fixed up entirely. I can lead once more."
Richard then turned towards the angelic warrior. "Mark… What I did was unforgivable, but please… I ask that you help me just this once." Richard told him with an apologetic tone. "...One we save X-Gaster and end his and Ink's machinations… I'll gladly accept whatever punishment is laid onto me as punishment for this."
"You shouldn't apologise, it's never your fault." Mark answered back. "I know that you did your best, and Jexi and the others… they'll understand."
As Richard nodded back, Alphys was left confused at the conversation that transpired, as she didn't know a single person that Richard talked with.
Richard then turned back towards Ink, as his expression turned into a scowl.
"Now that we're at the climax, Ink…" Richard answered back. "...Are you surprised that I survived? Surprised that despite X-Gaster's attempt to rub me out, I still stand here to defy?"
"You should have stayed down. Nothing will change." Ink answered back, as his emotionless eyes glared at him.
"That's what you think. I won't let you turn the Doodle Sphere into your plaything." Richard responded back with a determined tone. "...You're nothing more than a skeleton painter with a malicious god complex. I'll happily put you in your place, but after I'm done beating some sense back into an old friend."
Richard then swiped his hand, as a sukima appeared before Ink, before several hands dragged him through, despite the skeleton's attempt to escape, before it then closed.
"Now it's just you, X-Gaster. No-one to interrupt." Richard responded back. "Nightmare is thrown somewhere he can't cause issues. Despite everything that has happened, X-Gaster… I still forgive you."
"Forgive me? What nonsense are you spouting?" X-Gaster asked back.
"You feel like I hate you for what you have done. But I have no right to hate you, when I was far worse than you. I never told you that I have broken far more people for more petty reasons than you have." Richard declared back. "That's why it's only right that someone who has seen the light once more, can bring someone entangled in their own sins to the right path once again."
"Enough. You cannot defeat me." X-Gaster answered back. "I may not be able to OVERWRITE you, but I can still finish the job I started with the proxies."
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Richard declared back, before he then revealed the RESTORE button, as it was a rainbow-coloured button with the word on it, and a 4-pointed star on one side. "With this RESTORE button, you can't OVERWRITE reality so long as I have it in possession. Without the power to abuse, you can be defeated, and when you do… We'll bring you back to what you were before all of this tragedy happened."
"...Heh heh heh…" X-Gaster remarked, before he then snapped his fingers, as another Alphys appeared before him, as the original Alphys realised that it was herself within the vision. "You think that you can beat them? You and your rag-tag band of rebels… will be purged for my vision."
The vision Alphys immediately threw several glowing pages up, as they had roman numerals on them, starting from 1 and going to 9, with no page that had 6 on it. With a flash, they turned into Asriel, Asgore, Toriel, Muffet, Undyne, Frisk, Mettaton and Papyrus, all from their reality, as their eyes were black with white sclera.
"...It hurts me having to fight them, but I know that this fight must be won." Richard answered back, before he then drew his weapons, as the other heroes readied themselves. "Just a little longer… all of you… we'll take back the bright future we all wished for, even for X-Gaster."
The vision then froze, as everything turned gray-scale, while the original Alphys was stunned at everything she learned from the vision.
"...Is this… really… what Lord X-Gaster envisioned…? Or was this…" She asked herself with confusion.
"This is a different future to come…" Richard's voice was heard, as Alphys turned around, to see that there was a grayed-out Richard, who walked towards her. "...A future that I need your help to bring to fruition."
Alphys was silent, as the grayed Richard walked closer.
"Alphys… I know that you're afraid of what would happen if you defied him again." He told her with a sympathetic look. "But you don't need to do so to achieve this future. You just need to guide the me to come, towards this timeline."
"But how… How can I reach this point!?" Alphys asked, frustrated.
"...Make sure that you're in control enough of yourself to tell the truth to the others." Richard answered back. "That's the one thing that will solidify this timeline, although it will not be the spark that causes it."
"What… What do you mean?" Alphys responded back.
"...You know it, don't you? The knowledge of the future can change the actions of the present." Richard answered back solemnly. "In a malicious way, X-Gaster could have possibly seen this future… which means the past me will be in danger. If that happens… this future will come at risk. So… you must find a way to ensure that my past self will be in a proper state to lock in this future. If not… then you'll have to do your best to mitigate the damage. It's already too much for me and you. In a few seconds, this vision will fade. Remember: you are a factor that decides the future. Don't throw that right away."
Richard then disappeared in a flash of particles, as the world returned to normal, with Alphys back in the Dreemurr household.
Alphys was silent, before she then left the household, to process everything that had happened.
Entry Number 5, Timeline Number X
I felt the world RESET again…
This time, I don't know who is responsible for it, whether it be Frisk or X-Gaster…
But one thing is for sure…
Something changed… for the worse.
Cue BGM: 忘レラレシ幻想 ~to the next season~ (Necrofantasia [Touhou 7] arrange by Yuy)
Asriel was standing on the balcony of the household, as he had both of his hands on the railing, while he looked in the distance, as the skies turned dark, as there was rain pouring down on the city. Asriel had a distraught expression on his face, as memories of the past timelines flowed into Asriel's head, thanks to Frisk's manipulation from his use of the OVERWRITE button.
"What… What have we been fighting for… all this time…?" Asriel asked with a shudder in his voice.
Suddenly, the balcony door burst open, as it was a frantic Richard.
"Asriel, something is wrong! There's a bad omen across this entire city, the skies have darkened, and I've lost contact with the others from the Royal Guard!" Richard exclaimed. "Not even mom and dad are talking with me! Please, I need to warn you about-"
Richard then stopped, when he saw that Asriel didn't move for a while, as his expression shifted into betrayal, and then into grim acceptance. "Ah… I see…" He said quietly.
"...Richard… Was everything… about what happened long before…?" Asriel asked with a uneasy tone. "...Is it all true…?"
Richard was silent, as Asriel tightened his grip on the rails, before Richard responded back.
"...I can't tell you my answer simply in words…" Richard responded back with a sullen look in his eyes. "...You'll know the answer soon enough."
Richard then drew his blade, as Asriel noticed the sound of it happening, as he turned around with horror on his face, before summoning his white Chaos Sabers, as if expecting a fight. He watched as Richard pointed the weapon to him for a moment. And then suddenly, Richard then turned the blade towards himself, poised to stab himself in a suicidal move.
"RICHARD!" Asriel remarked, as he dropped his guard, and his sabers, rushing over, before grabbing Richard's hands, and forcing them away, as Richard tried to resist.
"Let go… LET GO!" Richard shouted back, twisting and turning his body to try and shake Asriel off. "If you really remember everything, then why do you still care so much about me!?"
"Richard, I have seen many terrible things, but it's because I remember all of this, that I remembered the several lifetimes worth of brotherly love and friendship you gave me." Asriel answered back gently. "Please… no-one wants you dead. I'm sure that everyone knows that you aren't a terrible person at all, like X-Gaster…"
"That's the thing!" Richard roared with self-loathing and frustration. "It doesn't matter what I want! It doesn't matter what you want! I don't want to see all of this come crashing down! I don't want to see the only people I care about turn into terrible people driven by vengeance like Frisk has! I'd rather die than see this tragedy crash before my eyes!"
"Richard… That's not the right way." Asriel answered back. "...I remember that promise, back then in the first timeline. You, Frisk and Chara promised to stay determined to give us a better world, while I promised back that we'll meet each other and be brothers once again…"
"But I…" Richard choked out, as his grip on his weapon softened slightly.
"Everyone still loves you, Richard, no matter what memories we will have to see. Mom and Dad see you as their foster child who never stopped giving back to society, Sans remembers the reliable wing-man that got his back... Papyrus remembers you as someone who always enjoyed his cooking, no matter how terrible it was, Muffet remembers you as her most valued customer and a dear friend within the Royal Guard…" Asriel smiled back, patting Richard's back with one of his hands. "Undyne knows you as the one rival that she could never beat, the heroic idol that she strived to chase after. And me…? You'll always be my dearest brother… and nothing, no matter how many memories are changed, will ever stop me from remembering that."
"Asriel… Asriel… I… Ah…." Richard stated, before he then collapsed onto Asriel's shoulder. "I'm sorry… I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to hurt you… Forgive me… Please… forgive me."
"...I forgive you." Asriel answered back, before there was the sound of a massive blast, as a part of the city flashed white, shocking both him and Asriel. "Wha…!?"
"Oh no, if you remember, then so does everyone…" Richard answered back, as he eased Asriel off him. "Asriel, listen to me. I know that X-Gaster has done terrible things, but he doesn't deserve to die, because he's the one who keeps this reality in check. If he perishes… then this entire universe breaks. Frisk is too vengeful to listen, so we have to stop him and the others…"
"...Does that include…" Asriel asked with a sorrowful look.
"...We're not going to kill them. I refuse to take their lives, after everything we have been through." Richard answered back. "...Just believe me… I have a way to fix all of this… But I need you to stand by my side… Can I trust my brother to help?"
"...I will. This has to all end." Asriel nodded back with determination.
Richard smiled back, before he then opened a sukima, as he gapped towards where the blast came from, as they found themselves in the ruined plaza of the city, horrifying Asriel.
"...How could this happen?" Asriel asked with shock.
"...It's the end-game… Frisk will do anything and everything to ensure X-Gaster dies…" Richard answered back. "...In a way, he's turned into a real monster not too different to the present X-Gaster."
Asriel was left word-less, before Monster Kid rushed towards them, with tears in his eyes.
"Asriel, Richard! It's horrible! Absolutely horrible!" Monster Kid cried with relief in his voice, as he slammed into Asriel, who caught him. "...There was this great attack from Papyrus… and everyone… e-everyone is gone…! S-Sans tried to protect me, and he got h-hurt real bad! A-and now, he's… He's…!"
"Calm down, Monster Kid!" Richard stated, as he placed both of his hands on the side of the monster's torso. "What happened to cause all of this?"
"I-I don't know! Undyne was real funny! She tried to hurt Sans, and so did Papyrus!" Monster Kid stated. "And then Papyrus used a mega super attack, and he… he did all of this."
"Papyrus…" Asriel remarked with disbelief.
"...Where did Sans go?" Richard continued to ask.
"He… He was badly hurt, and ran towards the Judgement Hall…!" Monster Kid responded back.
"Why the hell would he…?" Richard asked, before the facts clicked in his head. "Asriel… we need to go, now."
Richard then opened a sukima, as Asriel looked towards Monster Kid. "Stay safe, we're going to fix everything." Asriel assured Monster Kid.
When the duo managed to go through the sukima, they found themselves in the Judgement Hall, as Asgore, Toriel, Muffet, Papyrus, Mettaton, and Undyne were there, with Frisk in front of them, as Mettaton had a melting X-Gaster pinned against a pillar.
"You only want to watch then? That's fine with me." Frisk smirked, as if answering something, before he then teleported over towards X-Gaster with purple knifes of light in his hand, as he sliced the legs off X-Gaster, as the body fell on the floor, while Papyrus winced slightly.
"What… What is he saying?" Asriel exclaimed, before he was grabbed by Richard, who rushed towards the scene.
"Ugh…" X-Gaster remarked, before Frisk landed on the ground.
"If you tell me where's the other part of this darn purple SOUL, you can still have both of your arms-" Frisk threatened, before Richard and Asriel shifted before him, blocking his path towards X-Gaster. "...Richard."
"Frisk… I never thought that you would sink this low." Richard growled back. "...I should have never left you to your devices, if that's what you'd do for this."
"What are you doing, Richard? X-Gaster is responsible for all of this. He has to be executed for his crimes." Asgore answered back.
"I won't allow it." Richard declared with a firm look in his eyes. "You don't get what you're doing at all. Frisk gave you the memories to goad you all into committing something that we'll never be able to take back.
"Don't listen to him, he's X-Gaster's assistant." Frisk declared back.
"And you're no better." Richard answered back. "...You think that I stopped watching you, since you and I parted ways, but I always expected that you had something planned, so I kept an eye on your movements. I didn't know who you brought to the base universe… but I suspect that you did it with Sans for some damn reason that led to this."
"What are you talking about…" Undyne growled back.
"Papyrus… Can you really stomach all of this, the fact that you committed the genocide of almost a majority of the human and monster population." Richard told Papyrus, glaring at him directly. "Just because you wanted to deal with your brother? If you willingly did this… then you're not the Papyrus I trusted before."
Papyrus was struck heavily by Richard's cutting words, as he froze.
"My children… Why are you defending such a horrible person?" Toriel asked back. "I… I understand your duty to him, but it's poison to you. As your foster mother, Richard, I have to stop this before this goes out of hand."
"I'm defending him, because although he might be a horrible person, he's the only thing stopping Frisk from becoming a far worse monster than him!" Richard declared with a hand to his chest. "You don't understand, the memories that Frisk implanted in you are meant to give a biased perspective! A one-sided hate for X-Gaster! Yes, what you remember of his actions are terrible and true, but if you knew the full story, you wouldn't do this!"
"...Stop it, I don't want to fight you." Papyrus remarked, as there was a solemn look in his eyes.
"I don't want to either! But I refuse to sit back and let the end of this world happen!" Richard roared back. "Do you think that Frisk cares for anyone at this point! He'll use his own parents and friends just to get what he wants! He never cared for us at this point! He's no different to X-Gaster! Why can't you understand that! Think back to the memories of me! Do you think that I'm a monster like X-Gaster! I have been the best child, the best friend that I could have been, and I asked nothing in return!"
The entire group grimaced, as Frisk snapped.
"I don't care about that now!" Frisk shouted back. "As soon as X-Gaster is gone, we can be happy once again! Why can't YOU understand that, Richard! Asriel, you're my brother, surely you can see reason!"
"...I do." Asriel remarked, as he drew his Chaos Sabers, while Richard drew his blade, as the other side drew their weapons as well. "...And that's why I have to stop you. It's because you showed too many memories that I realised the truth… You used to be my dear brother… but what I see now, is a monster impersonating my brother, one that I must stop no matter what. Sorry, Mom, Dad, everyone… But Richard is right… X-Gaster's death only makes things worse."
'Naive fool… You think that this will all matter? The more the experiment FIGHTs or ACTs… the closer they'll take me to that wonderful future… one without your interference…' X-Gaster thought with malice, watching the situation unfold. 'A very important element is still missing.'
End BGM
Suddenly, the entire group were held under the effects of a blue aura around their SOULS, including the monster's upside-down white SOULs, and Richard's grey one, as it caused them to be weighed down, except for Papyrus, who wasn't affected.
"Blue magic…?" Toriel remarked, as he turned towards the source.
"...I knew you weren't able to kill him, Papyrus." Undyne frowned, as Papyrus turned towards the source, as he was shocked who it was.
"You… You really are…" Asriel asked with horror in his voice.
"MY GOSH… THAT SKELETON IS ANNOYING." Mettaton groaned.
"I didn't want to see you die again trying to stop me… Cross." Frisk remarked with a terse tone, facing the source.
"Sans… You're…!" Richard exclaimed with horror, as he noticed that Sans had a twisted smile on his face, as his sole remaining eye was glowing a yellow-blue hue, as there was blood all over his face, and part of his head was cracked, and some of it was already fading from the significant damage he took.
"Heh, at least someone knows how to say my name right…" Sans remarked.
"What are you going to do in that condition, huh?" Frisk mocked, before Sans snapped his finger, as X-Gaster was thrown out of the hallway, leaving a large hole in the ceiling, as if he shifted his gravity.
"I'll take care of him later." Sans stated, looking at the hole, as Frisk froze.
"Oh yeah, he's pretty angry… Not to mention, Richard…" Chara's phantom remarked, while sweating.
"Our plan is ruined again…" Frisk responded back, with a similar state to Chara, before then raising his hand. "Why don't you understand, Cross! How many times do I have to hurt you to leave me alone!?"
"You don't wanna hurt me… sure…" Sans remarked, as Frisk's group began to attack. "But you don't mind to hurt your other 'Friends'... hypocrite…"
"Sans, why are you…" Asriel remarked, as Richard dragged him back.
"We need to stay out of his way… he's unstable in mind and power!" Richard exclaimed.
Sans immediately dodged a fire barrage from Toriel, and then avoided Mettaton's whipping arm attack, while laughing insanely.
"STAY AWAY, UNDYNE! MY SOUL WASN'T AFFECTED BY HIS POWER, SO I'LL-" Papyrus remarked, as he readied an attack, only for Sans to teleport past him.
"Here we go, baby!" Undyne exclaimed, before catching Sans's fist, and trying to slam him with a crashing fist into the ground, only for Sans to leap into the air, as the attack left a crater on the ground. "Fu… HHAARGH!"
Undyne then casted a massive array of spears at Sans, who immediately used his powers to drag Frisk in front of him, using him as a meat-shield against the coming spears, as they pierced Frisk, hurting him severely.
"I think you've used that freaking button too much, kiddo." Sans said, as Frisk groaned, before Sans positioned him, so that the spears would amputate his right hand. "You should give your hands a rest!"
Frisk screamed in pain, while Asriel was left too terrified to even fight, while Richard clenched his teeth.
"Disarmed, but not defeated, am I right, guys?" Sans darkly joked. "I wonder if your friends will dare to hurt you just to kill me."
"Sans… what are you planning to do-" Richard remarked, before the gravity on everyone increased, causing them to crash onto the ground kneeling, while Sans summoned a massive array of Gaster Blasters.
"I know…!" Sans remarked, before he then threw his hand forward, as all of them fired at the group.
"AS-" Richard shouted, as he gestured to create a barrier to defend the group.
As soon as the blast faded away, Richard was severely scorched by the attack, while only Papyrus from Frisk's group survived, while the others were blasted into dust.
"...No…" Richard remarked, before he then turned towards Asriel, whose body was almost blasted apart, as his mouth was covered by his black blood, and his eyes were unfocused. "...NO…!"
"...Ric...hard… I'm… sorry… I…" Asriel remarked, before his SOUL began to crack, before it then shattered into many particles, as the rest of his body faded into dust.
"Asriel…. No… Why?" Richard remarked, before turning towards Sans, who was in front of Frisk. "...Why did you kill him! He was innocent! He didn't do anything in all of this! So why…!? WHY!?"
"It doesn't matter." Sans answered back. "...No matter how many times you will use them for your whims… I will kill them until you quit. I want to talk to you two, Frisk and Chara."
Sans then grabbed Frisk's SOUL in his hand. "Since you're calling me 'Cross', I should call you the 'X-Event', am I right? I know it's useless trying to kill ya guys. I mean, you have that button to make me disappear or change my mind." Sans told him. "...But I know I'm not your true enemy. Yeah, X-Gaster has been a very bad guy, like you! Perhap someone with common sense deserves to have the power to OVERWRITE and use it as it should be."
Sans then squeezed the SOUL in his hand, as small cracks formed on it, while Frisk coughed up blood from the internal pain, before Frisk then began to laugh. "Oh, c'mon, Cross… How are we going to t-take you seriously if you didn't have the guts to get rid of your own brother!"
Sans turned towards Papyrus, who didn't move. "He tried to kill you, remember? He's also a traitor like the others, haha!" Frisk gurgled.
"He's not going to stop me from getting what I want. Papyrus was always and will be the same." Sans remarked with a smile, before turning to Frisk again. "I think you never got to know them so well during all this time. Both of you have too much Determination, but you're not capable of doing something well on your own."
Papyrus was silent, before he then spoke. "BROTHER… " He started, as Sans turned towards him. "YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I'M GLAD YOU TRUST ME… BUT… SOMETHING INSIDE OF IT TELLS ME THAT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WILL NOT WORK EITHER… THAT YOU FORSAKEN THE RIGHT METHOD IN YOUR OWN HATRED… GIVE UP, BROTHER."
Sans then froze, as the look in his eyes turned into disbelief, as Papyrus turned towards Richard.
"I HAD TO HURT YOU SO YOU DO NOT GET INVOLVED ANYMORE… I FEEL REALLY BAD ABOUT IT, BROTHER…" Papyrus answered back. "YOU HAVE SUFFERED TOO MUCH TRYING TO HELP. RICHARD FELT THE SAME. YOU'RE BOTH HURTING INSIDE, BUT THE TWO OF YOU HAD DIFFERENT WAYS TO COPE WITH IT. LOOK AT YOURSELF, BROTHER… YOU'RE DYING, YOUR HATE KILLED YOUR FRIENDS! I DON'T WANT YOU TO BECOME LIKE X-GASTER. NONE OF THIS DEPENDS OF SIMPLE CREATIONS LIKE YOU OR ME."
Papyrus then walked over towards Richard, and stroked his bloodied cheek with a gentle caress. "...COMPARED TO RICHARD, YOU'RE THE ONE IN THE WRONG." Papyrus continued, as Richard's eyes lit up with some hope. "HE NEVER GAVE INTO HIS HATRED. HE MAY HAVE FELL INTO SELF-HATRED FOR A LONG TIME, AND FALLEN INTO DESPAIR SEVERAL TIMES… BUT NEVER ONCE, DID HE HURT OTHERS TO GET WHAT HE WANTED. HE WAS WHAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE. HE CARED FOR US LIKE HIS CLOSEST PEOPLE, AND HE NEVER ASKED FOR MORE… EVEN WHEN HE WAS ANGRY JUST THEN… HE WAS ANGRY AT US FOR NOT TRUSTING HIM, WHICH WAS FAIR… BUT HE NEVER HAD THE LOOK OF HATE WHEN HE SAID THAT. HE STILL HAS A PLACE FOR US… FRISK AND CHARA… THEY CAN TRY TO GIVE US A HAPPY LIFE, AND RICHARD CAN HELP TO GUIDE THEM BACK. TRY TO BELIEVE IN THE THREE OF THEM, OR AT LEAST RICHARD… HE'S STILL TRYING TO HELP YOU, DESPITE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE."
Sans began to lower his head, as there was a sad look on his face, before he then spoke. "...You're making me look ridiculous, Paps." Sans stated with a low tone.
"BUT, BROTHE-" Papyrus tried to respond, only for him to be skewered by pillars of pointed bone that went through his chest, and right through Richard's own, as the latter wheezed in agony, with wide eyes. While Papyrus's SOUL broke and his body faded to dust, Richard let out a few choked sounds, and coughed blood onto the ground, while his SOUL began to have a large crack down the middle.
"I can't even believe in myself anymore…" Sans remarked, as he walked over to Richard. "I will become an evil being. All those who have such a great power are always the same… selfish, scared, senseless… So, as a final act of mercy on you, Richard… because you're the only person who I still have a place for… I'll let you go in peace."
"Sans… why… this… isn't…" Richard gagged the words out weakly, as his lungs were clogged with his own blood.
"Farewell, Richard… when I bring you back… this world will be far better." Sans answered back, before he then raised his hand, as Richard was run through with more spikes through his chest, causing him to reach his threshold, as his SOUL snapped in two, and then shattered like the others, as Richard slumped forward, with lifeless eyes and cold tears of betrayal running down his eyes.
Sans then raised his hand, before picking Frisk's SOUL up again. "Everyone will be free of any sin when I have control of this inequitable Alternate Universe, because I will be the new X-Event… The OVERWRITE button belongs to me now."
Suddenly, Sans froze, as his half-empty SOUL showed, as the torn half cracked, and he fell forward, collapsing on the ground, as Frisk's SOUL returned to him.
"It's over… he's too weak to use his magic." Chara told Frisk. "Let's go, Frisk. I need you to recover your body. Then we'll go after X-Gaster."
Frisk then walked forward. 'What are you doing? Don't waste time, idiot! You can barely move your arms!" Chara tried to convince Frisk.
"I won't forgive him, especially after what he did…" Frisk growled with a dark look in his eyes.
'HE'S GOING TO DIE ANYWAY! DON'T BE SILLY!" Chara shouted at him.
"Leave me alone…" Frisk stated, as he picked up his knife in his remaining hand.
"It has been a long time since you had a lot of hate in your heart, little brother…" Chara said with some melancholy in his heart.
"He must pay for ruining our plan…" Frisk growled, not even sparing a glance at Richard's broken body.
As Frisk shifted forward, he began to have visions about the time where an adult version of him had popsicles with Sans. He raised his knife to finish Sans, only to be stopped, when the visions returned, with an image of him, Chara, Richard, Sans and Asriel smiling happily together, enjoying their own frozen treats.
Frisk's hesitation cost him, as Sans rose a hand to grab Frisk's arm, who tried to resist, before Sans stabbed him through the heart with his hand, to Chara's horror.
"NOOOO!" Chara screamed, as his eyes turned black, and his mouth became a jagged mess, while Frisk fell backwards, and weakly caught his arm against Sans's sleeve.
"C-Cross… Please… Don't do this to me… I thought we were friends…" Frisk pleaded, with blood leaking from his mouth.
"Yes. It hurts to remember how close we were back then, doesn't it?" Sans answered back, before slowly pressing Frisk's SOUL against his own. "Can you finally feel something? Sadly it's too late."
Sans then touched the SOUL with his own, as the entire world glitched away into a completely white void, not too different to the one that Ricahrd was isolated in after the fifth timeline, the only things present being Frisk's and Richard's bodies, all in their own puddles of blood, while Sans was prone on the ground, unconscious.
Suddenly, he awoke, as one of his eyes turned red, and slowly rose up.
'Ugh… My body is… so heavy… Wh-What happened?" Sans remarked, before he then saw everything around him, or the lack of it. "Everything… is empty."
"What did you expect…? This timeline belongs to you now." Frisk weakly wheezed, as Sans turned towards him. "Everything we knew is gone. This Universe waits for you to create something new in it."
Sans then grabbed Frisk, who lolled in his grip. "I can't believe you have survived, I thought… you would die in the process." Frisk wheezed. "...But now I understand that my brother's determination is very special thanks to X-Gaster's half-SOUL, that means that you're special too, Cross. Just look at you… You will live as a tool with a lot of power… Waiting for someone to give you orders. Why do you think you can make a diff-"
"SHUT UP!" Sans shouted, as Frisk silenced himself for a moment.
"At least, I tried to warn you…" Frisk bitterly coughed, and turned towards the blank sky. "You're going to be very disappointed."
"You've already told me enough crap for ten damn timelines." Sans growled back. "...Stop talking… just goodbye…"
Frisk turned back at Sans, before tears began to flow from his eyes, as he tried to wipe it with his only hand. "I don't want you to hate me forever…" He muttered.
"...Just don't move until your Determination is over." Sans answered back with no warmth in his voice.
"...Cross…" Frisk said.
"Sans." Sans snapped back in correction.
"Don't be bitter, you'll get used to the name someday." Frisk remarked, before he then weakly smiled. "...Since you're in charge now… I'd like to give you something."
Frisk then gave Sans the heart-locket, raising it for Sans to see. "We always gave this to our closest friends in the past timelines… a reminder you should have as you build this world…" Frisk stated, as Sans took it, and opened it to see the drawing that he drew inside of it. "I drew a picture with all of us… my closest friends, I mean, my family…"
Sans stared at the picture inside, before he then tossed the pendant away forcefully, as it clattered across the ground, and then throwing Frisk down on the ground.
"It's ugly, I don't want it." Sans stated, before he then stood up and turned to leave.
"I-I'm sorry…" Frisk wheezed, before he then turned silent, although he was barely breathing.
"I've learned enough from YOUR mistakes…" Sans said. "Once I recover my strength and can OVERWRITE. I will make sure that everyone is aware of the consequences of making bad decisions like you did."
"...And like you're any better…" Richard's rasping voice was heard, as Sans froze, and turned around to see that Richard was standing back up, limping on his feet, his balance weak, and the blood dripping down the impalement wounds on his chest.
"What…? How are you…? You're still… alive?" Sans remarked with shock.
"You'd like that… don't you…" Richard wheezed, raising his head, as there was a hateful look in them. "...Then again, you were useless at granting me a peaceful death… and now, I'm forced to suffer through all of this…"
"Just-" Sans remarked.
"How could you… You took everyone from me… Asriel… Toriel… Asgore… Muffet… Undyne… Papyrus… You killed them all, just because you think that this is the best way… Ha ha… Hahaha…" Richard continued, as he laughed eerily, before he went into a coughing fit that stained his hands with blood. "You're the worst, Sans… You destroyed this entire timeline for a flimsy excuse… and now everyone is gone… forever… and I'll never see them again…"
Sans was left frozen, before Richard staggered forward a step.
"I'll kill you…" Richard declared in a whisper, as he took a few more steps, as his voice began to grow in volume with each repeat of the phrase. 'I'll kill you… I'll kill you. I'll kill you! I'll kill you!"
Richard's face then contorted into an expression of pure hate, as black blood flowed from his wounds, and his eyes bled tears of blood.
"I'LL FUCKING KILL YOOOOOUUUU!'" He roared with rage, which made Sans feel true fear for a brief moment.
Richard then throttled forward, as he summoned several rings of dark magic circles above them all, as they let out ominous whines of charging magic, while Richard summoned Desidero, which was flowing with dark aura.
However, before Richard could even attack, as he was inches away from Sans, he disappeared into a mess of black pixels, as the magic circles fizzled out, while Sans collapsed on the ground, hyperventilating from what might have been a near-death experience.
Richard then collapsed on the ground, in a black void, as he tried to slowly push himself up.
"No… No...!" Richard wailed, as he tried to move. "Why… Why is this happening!? I was… so close… so close to getting my vengeance for Asriel and everyone… Why am I denied my revenge!? DAMNIT! DAMNIT!"
Richard then slowly panted heavily, as he coughed several times, and constantly groaning in agony from the wounds.
"I can't die...not yet… I have to save them all… I won't rest… or die… until it's all fixed… I still have a hope… I still have my project…" Richard remarked, as he slowly moved forward. "I just need to… recover… or find my friends…"
Richard then slowly slinked through the void, before he then saw Alphys before him, as she noticed him.
"Alphys…? Is that… you?" Richard asked, before tears of joy ran down his eyes. "Thank god… you made it out of here alive… Everyone… Everyone is gone… Sans destroyed the world… But… We can still save it… I only need you help…"
Alphys didn't move, as Richard's joy melted away. "...Alphys… What's wrong? Why aren't you coming?" Richard asked back. "I'm not… looking terrible, am I…? I'm not acting like… a sociopath… am I?"
Richard then noticed that there was tears coming down from Alphy's eyes, behind the glasses, as Richard froze.
"Why… Why are you crying? We're… we're not without hope! We just need to-" Richard started, before he then felt a stabbing pain through the centre of his chest.
Behind him, was X-Gaster, who had completely melted into a monstrous appearance, as one of his hands was the thing that pierced through Richard's chest, gripping his heavily-cracked but still whole SOUL.
"X-Gaster… w-why…" Richard remarked, before he then slumped forward like a puppet whose strings were cut like a puppet.
"...Finally… the experiment can reach its next phase... without him in the way… the future will be fine…" X-Gaster remarked. "Such a shame… you were indeed a great factor in moving events along as intended. But you were one of those who would have killed me in another future… So I'll make sure you'll never get the chance."
X-Gaster then turned to Alphys. "Assistant… give me a status report on the new prototype." He demanded.
"The power given to the human is not compatible with the SOUL and body of a monster." Alphys answered back. "Therefore, they are incapable of OVERWRITING. There's no turning back."
I… I….
Help me, Richard! Please, help me!
I…. am…
Damn mutt! Go to hell with the rest of your monstrous kind!
Why… Why is this…
Look at them, they are the judges that judge you for your irredeemable sin of impurity…
It's not fair….
You will never achieve anything. You'll never have your paradise back… and you will die an honourless death. Such is your dictated fate.
It's not fair!
Please… forgive this stupid world, brother…
IT'S NOT FAIR AT ALL!
That's right… let it in… The misery… the despair… This is you… This is what you have forgotten!
RRAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!
NOW, AWAKEN AND SHOW THIS WORLD THE PRICE OF BETRAYAL!
"Excellent. Now then, we shall now dispose of this-" X-Gaster remarked, as he slid his hand out of Richard, before he found his hand being gripped by a tight force from Richard's own, shocking Alphys, and surprising X-Gaster. "Hm…?"
Suddenly, Richard began to laugh, even as blood poured from his mouth, as it grew in volume and dissonance, into a mess of insane laughter.
"How are you still alive?" X-Gaster remarked. "I am sure that I have reaped your SOUL from you."
"Because fuck you, that's why…" Richard cackled. "...You know, I'm actually impressed that you managed to put it off for so long… but now… I finally remember everything… from the past I was missing… to the new memories that you're so kind to give me…"
"It doesn't matter, you will not survive with these injuries…" X-Gaster smirked back himself.
"Maybe not, but don't think that you're going to have my SOUL for your own twisted purposes." Richard answered back, as he raised a hand over his own SOUL. "..You think that you can get away scot-free for driving me down this despair-filled hell for so long, and betraying me at my highest peak of hope… Hahaha, you really are idiotic if you think that you have enough power to dictate my fate… I AM THE MASTER OF MY OWN FATE, AND I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!"
Richard then crushed his own SOUL in his own hand, as it shattered into six fragments, which then exploded out of existence, much to X-Gaster's disdain, and Alphys's horror.
"And you are insane enough to believe that your own suicide, changes a thing?" X-Gaster asked back.
"...You underestimate how powerful the resurrecting force of hatred is…" Richard answered back. "...As long as the pieces return… I will come back no matter what measures are used to prevent it. And when I do…"
Richard's head then turned 180 degrees, as there was a maniacal expression on his face, that unease X-Gaster.
"...You're going to be subjected to the worst tortures and agonies that even the many hells cannot imagine." Richard spoke with a distorted voice.
Richard then slumped forward, as his head turned back to normal, while his grip finally gave out, causing X-Gaster to pull his arm out finally.
"...It doesn't matter. He is not a threat anymore." X-Gaster remarked. "I must contact Ink… the second Phase will start soon."
X-Gaster then moved beside Alphys, who looked back at Richard's corpse with sad eyes.
"...I'm sorry… I failed you…" She spoke gently enough for X-Gaster to not hear it, before she and X-Gaster left the dark void.
When they were gone, Richard's body was taken by a sukima, as it landed before a distraught Yukari.
"Richard… I'm sorry that this had to happen… If only I have protected you from all of this…" Yukari spoke with regret, before she then shook her head. "No… I can't brood on such things… I must preserve Richard. His existence is being sustained by memories alone. And then there is the fact that the fragments of his SOUL went off everywhere… I need to warn the others, and get them on a mission to find them all."
Yukari then noticed something, as she then opened a sukima through Richard, pulling out what was the RESTORE button, which surprised her.
"...So you planned for this, even though you were without enough of your memories… There is still hope for this world after all." Yukari spoke with hope. "...Don't worry, Richard. Gus has learned to take your mantle… and he will lead the others to victory. Perhaps… This is for the best. You have had enough burden for a long time, so it's better for a hero who isn't jaded and broken like you, to take this organisation into a new era… But it shouldn't have to happen like this."
She then looked out through the sukima, with a dark expression. "And, I'll make sure that X-Gaster will pay dearly for this…" She remarked. "I may not be able to interfere in a way to guarantee his eternal hell… but I can rally the people to do so. So until you return as one… slumber in peace."

I will not forget this…
I will not forgive anything…
This entire universe… is a cruel joke…
X-Gaster used me like a toy…
Frisk ruined my hopes…
Sans betrayed me just because he's a hypocrite and liar…
I will have my revenge…
Once the X-Event comes to a close…
I will return…
And when I do…
There will be no more X-Tale.
I will see to that.
Do you hear me, Frisk, Chara, Sans, X-Gaster?
