"Good Brother, Lord Hadrian, welcome back, I have completed the changes you have had requested on your sword, though why you wanted the failed attempts, when I have created the perfect Silmarils, I still do not understand," A dark haired man with slightly pointed ears said as Hadrian entered the smithy where he was at, with a dark-haired woman.
"As I said before, Lord Fёanor, just because they do not fully capture the full white light, the combined might of the eight others is just as great as the might of the three Silmarils," Hadrian said kindly.
"Whatever you say. Dearest sister, how has Hadrian been treating you? Well, I should hope?" Fёanor asked the woman at Hadrian's side, his voice holding pure sincerity.
"He treats me with the greatest of love and respect, like he does his other two wives here in Valinor, and from the one time I met Finarfin's good sister, who is my sister wife, she is happy being with her father Olwё on Tol Eressёa," The woman said kindly.
"But are you truly happy, Findis, you know that your husband will never love you exclusively and will likely travel long distances to be with his other wife we have never even met. How can you know that he does not just go to the eastern continent to whore himself out to the servants of Melkor?" Fёanor asked coldly.
"Brother, how dare you accuse my beloved husband of such. I know that he would never touch another woman without all of his wives' consent, and his first would know if he did. Do you not remember that father accepted the union, as did his first wife from our kin here in Valinor, Amariё," Findis said sharply?
"But sister, you could be with any man in all of Valinor, and you chose the one, who Manwё does not require to remain loyal to one wife," Fёanor argued.
"Which is because of my role, as one who gathers forces for wars that will surely come, for this cause and the Will of Eru that I have taken Amariё of the Vanya branch of the First born of Ilúvatar, and daughter of the High King of the Eldar Ingwё, who was the first born of the eldest Imin, who also sanctified the union. It is for this same cause that I joined with Lelian, the younger daughter of Olwё, King of the Falmari, who also happens to be your younger brother's good father, since he married her older sister Eärwen, and why I married Chieftainess Ettelёmё of the Avari. For my role I have also become friends with the Ents, especially their leader Treebeard, along with the Entwives," Hadrian said firmly.
"Well, I still don't like it, but if my sister is happy, I guess there is nothing more I can say, especially since father was in agreement. Anyway, what do you plan to call your sword now that it has the Almarils imbedded in it. I know it had previously been called Ilfirindil, but now I feel that is inadequate," Fёanor asked with a sigh.
"I agree, now I shall call it Excalibur, the sword of the eight lights, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and black," Hadrian said calmly.
"Interesting, but I think it is a good name, now if you would excuse me, I need to return to work," Fёanor said clearly dismissing the two.
1495 Year of the Trees, 47,862 Sun years, Alqualondë.
"Good brothers, what are you doing!" Hadrian said as he rushed to the docks of the city which his good brother Celumo, the second eldest son of Olwё ruled.
"We need the ships, and they won't give them to us," Fёanor said coldly not recognizing him, as he continued to cut charge into the midst of the bow yielding elves.
"Why do you need the ships Lord Fёanor? You are on the shores of Valinor, and the Valar will be needing all the help they can get as they seek the ones who have destroyed the Trees," Hadrian said confused.
"Who cares about the trees, Morgoth has killed my father and stolen the Silmarils, and the Valar only care for themselves," Fёanor said still clearly not recognizing Hadrian.
"Morgoth? I do not know of Morgoth, but how do you claim my kin care for none but themselves?" Hadrian asked irritably, causing Fёanor to finally recognize him.
"Lord Hadrian, I had not recognized you, you are the good brother of the Lord of these lands, have the people give us their ships and you can join us in regaining the Silmarils, from Morgoth whom you call Melkor," Fёanor said hopefully.
"You and your kin have killed countless of the Falmari, simply because they would not disobey the commandments of the Valar. You will gain no aide from me, nor shall any of your kin who fought with you today, who do not beg the forgiveness of Eru Ilúvatar," Hadrian said coldly.
"Clearly, I was right, the Valar only care for themselves, but no matter, enough ships are now liberated from their weak-minded fools of masters, so we shall hunt Morgoth on our own, and fulfill the oath that we made, to regain the Silmarils. Just know, Hadrian that if you get in our way as we seek to reclaim the Silmarils, it does not matter that you are the Gatherer, and a Maiar, we will kill you," Fёanor threatened.
"Cursed shall they be for your sake Fёanor, your crimes will not soon be forgiven, but your good works will allow your soul peace, I will not stop you from retaking them from the guilty such as Melkor, but if you attack those whom I care for, I will not hesitate to retaliate. But for now, I will seek the Spider who had helped Melkor kill the trees," Hadrian said simply as Fёanor jumped into a ship and departed.
1498 Year of the Trees, 47,892 Year of the Sun, Valinor
"Good brother, you have returned I see, why have you come?" Hadrian asked as a dark-haired elf entered the Halls of Manwё, followed by a host of other elves with similar traits.
"Lord Hadrian, Lord Manwё, we are the Noldor of the fifth company, and had no part in the attack which my Eldest brother led against the Falmari. However, we stand just as guilty as our kin in the Kinslaying. However, we all wish to repent of our refusal to take up arms against our closer kin to stop the Kinslaying, and wish to be allowed to remain here in Valinor," The man said softly.
"Finarfin, are you aware that the heir of Olwё was killed in that battle, as was the Lord of Alqualondë on that day?" Manwё asked curiously.
"My Good-father did inform me of that fact and asked me if I had any part in the attack and when I informed him, I raised not my blade in either the attack or defense of his people, he was justly angered, but permitted myself and my kin to stay with him for a season," Finarfin said sadly.
"You have true remorse, I can see, if my father accepts you, and my sister has not left you, I perceive your forgiveness should be accepted," A woman with white hair said from Hadrian's side.
"If the Gatherer's wife, Lelian, who has been hurt most would forgive the kin of her brothers' killers, then I shall not refuse their repentance either, though I must demand that some of your host must accompany the Gatherer in his hunt for the Spider," Manwё said firmly.
"Of course, Lord Manwё," Finarfin said before a white owl flew into the room.
"What news do you have for us Hedwig?" Hadrian asked curiously as the owl perched on his shoulder and held out a leg which had a small scroll attached to it.
"What news comes from the Halls of Mandos?" Manwё asked curiously once Hadrian had time to read the note.
"Mandos has received the Spirit of Lord Fёanor, he also has determined where the spider is, so on the morrow we depart," Hadrian said simply.
"So, the beginning of the Doom of Mandos has already begun, perhaps my nephews will see reason in time," Finarfin said sadly.
"I doubt that, but I too would hope so, for now return to your father's throne, where you will sit as King of the Blessed Noldor," Manwё said simply.
"Of course, thank you Lord Manwё. Lord Hadrian, I would have my only son to return with me, Angrod, to join with you in seeking out the spider that destroyed the great trees, if you would permit it," Finarfin said hopefully.
"I will, for I know from my beloved wife Findis that he is among the greatest warriors of the Noldor," Hadrian said before with a nod left the chambers to finalize his preparations for his hunt.
6 First Age, 47,918 years of the Sun, Hall of Mandos.
"Blessed Noldor, what brings you to my Halls?" Mandos asked as a group of elves with dark hair, with the exception of the leader who had golden hair.
"Lord Mandos, we have returned from the lair of the Spider Ungoliant, have achieved our purpose in destroying the being and most of their children. However, in our final fight against their largest child, Lord Hadrian became entangled in the webbing and tripped before other smaller children bound him in the webbing before we managed to drive them off." The leader said sadly, as some of the others brought forward a silk bound body.
"Angrod, please tell us in more detail of your encounter with the Spiders, and perhaps we can see what can be done for Hadrian to help him heal, for he is not dead, least his soul would have returned to me," Mandos said simply.
"Of course, my Lord," Angrod said before beginning his tale.
Flashback
"We are approaching the spider's den, we will need all the light we can, for if it is held, they will flee, but if they begin to overwhelm you, throw the blue flames as far as you can, they will chase after it to devour the light," Hadrian said as they entered a cave.
"Of course, Lord Hadrian," Angrod said as he held up the lantern he held in his non dominant hand, before the rest of the company did similar before, they continued forward into the cave.
"Angrod! Behind you! Flipendo!" Hadrian said as he saw a large spider nearly attack his good nephew from his side, but he was able to send flying.
"Thank you for that save Lord Hadrian. Everyone, stand together, keep your eyes constantly moving and don't let your guard down even for a moment," Angrod said as they continued through the maze of caves, killing any spiders they came across.
"So, another of Eru's children thinks they can defeat me, and in my own home even, how cocky are you?" A large black spider that stood 10 feet at its head, said as they entered a large cavern.
"Ungoliant, you assisted Melkor in destroying the Light of the Trees, your crime is beyond any that any save Melkor has committed," Hadrian said coldly as he slashed at the Spider and managed to slice through a leg.
"How, did you do that? No power in the world save Eru himself could harm me; my master promised me that!" Ungoliant cried out in pain.
"Clearly, whoever your master is, they do not understand the power of the children of Eru," Hadrian said as he avoided a swing by another of the legs, which he promptly cut off.
"This is not possible, unless, no, it cannot be, my Lord swore that Eru would not send them in until the end. Well even if it is you cannot defeat all of my children and I at once. Children attack!" Ungoliant said before thousands of huge spiders began to flow into the cavern.
"Lord Hadrian, behind you!" Angrod said as Hadrian stumbled after slicing the giant spider's head clean off, and a slightly smaller Spider jumped on him, almost half an hour later.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Hadrian said as he spun slowly barely able to hit the spider with the light which caused him to fly over Hadrian's head before falling to the ground and attacking him as thousands of tiny spiders began to encircle Hadrian in their silk, despite his burning them off whenever he could.
"Men, the day is won!" Angrod said once they killed the last spider in the chamber, having burned any that had tried to escape.
"Where is Lord Hadrian?" a dark-haired elf asked causing everyone to stop in shock, as they realized their leader was not standing.
"I found a body, that's chest is moving very slightly, but I cannot remove the webbing!" Another elf said a few minutes later.
"Fire seems to work at destroying the webbing, despite the fact that steel does not, perhaps burn it," Another elf said after various others had tried to cut off the webbing.
"Do you want to be the one who explains to my father or aunt why Lord Hadrian was burned to death?" Angrod asked loudly.
"But what then should we do?" The elf asked confused.
"We bring him to Mandos, for he and Lord Hadrian's first wife may be able to free him from the confides," Angrod said simply.
"Of course, Lord Angrod. What shall be do with the den?" The elf asked curiously.
"Set fire to all the webbing, and we will set an eternal flame, like Lord Hadrian has taught us, at the entrance to ensure that if any spiders remain inside, they can never escape and torment the world further," Angrod said before with the help of a few other elves lifted Hadrian up and carried him to the cave entrance where they began to set a fire.
"Stop that spider!" An elf said right before the flame was lit, a small spider, barely larger than a hand scurried over the line and into the woods nearby.
"Light the flame, we will catch and kill the spider!" Angrod said as he placed Hadrian on the ground before leading a company to try and find the spider.
"Were you able to catch the spider?" The elf who had first seen the spider asked as the company returned a few hours later.
"No, it seems to have disappeared completely, but where to I cannot say," Angrod said sadly.
"Well, if Eru is merciful, then it won't be able to breed by itself and one spider is considerably easier to handle than thousands," the elf said with a sigh.
End Flashback
"Interesting, though one thing I do not understand is what the Spider Ungoliant was talking about, and who their master may have been," Mandos said confused before a light appeared in the room before a man stood in their midst.
"Father, we had not been expecting you, what brings you here?" Nienna asked recognizing the man as Eru immediately.
"I heard that Hadrian had fallen in a fight, and so I wished to answer questions that I am sure you must all have," Eru said simply, as the elves all fell to their knees once they understood who was standing before them.
"Will you help us free Hadrian, father?" Nienna asked hopefully.
"I cannot, though before any questions are asked, I make things clear, that any answers I may give, shall not be repeated to any least they not believe, and your name be ridiculed forever as a fool, and when you die, your soul be removed from the tapestry," Eru said firmly, though frowning at the sight of the Eldar kneeling.
"Of course, father, though what do you have that patents such extreme consequence, Eldar please do not kneel, our father is your father, and he does not deign to be worshipped," Mandos said recognizing his father's expression.
"To answer your second question, I must answer your first. I had not been sure, until hearing the story from Angrod, but I had suspected that Ungoliant was a servant of my brother, an evil being whose power is like unto my own. If he had blessed the spider, it is very possible that he had adopted the spider into our father's family without father's consent which would make it so only I could kill the spider, or my father or my kin," Eru said simply.
"Forgive me, Lord Eru, but we saw Lord Hadrian kill the spider, and it does not sound like you were using him as an avatar," Angrod said confused.
"You are correct, but Hadrian is not my son, he is my kin, though he does not know as such. That is why he vanished during the siege of Utunmo all those years ago. His role stretches to multiple planes, as myself and seven of my brethren agreed to allow Hadrian to play a role in our worlds in order to aide him when he leads the forces of father against my evil brother. However, he cannot be active in more than one world at a time, least his soul be split, and his soul being split into nine parts would cause him to be fully corrupted," Eru said simply.
"Is that why you will not aide in healing my beloved?" Nienna asked curiously.
"Indeed, he shall remain in a coma until his soul returns again to our lands, how long that may be, I cannot say, though I have seen that when he does leave and return, he always carries new skills than he had in previous times, such as in these where he had his eternal flames and chants to do incredible things," Eru said simply.
"You said we cannot tell anyone; does this include our fellow Valar?" Mandos asked curiously.
"Indeed, your mouths shall be sealed, so you cannot speak of them, now I return to my own duties, but be assured that Hadrian will never leave you when the world needs him most," Eru said before being engulfed in flames once more and vanishing.
"My lord look, the webbing is gone from Lord Hadrian's face, but so too is his sword," Angrod said as he looked down at where Hadrian lay, his face now visible.
"Clearly Lord Eru has mercy. Return to your city and tell of your journey to kill the spider, but do not tell what our Lord told us, nor the things which the spider said," Nienna said as she knelt at Hadrian's side and stroked his face lovingly.
"Of course, may Eru be with you," Angrod said before the company returned to Tirion.
Done with another section of the Tolkienverse part of this expansive crossover.
So in case you are curious on why I had Angrod do a flashback instead of using Hadrian as the POV, is that I had planned to have them go on the hunt for Ungoliant but never return until 292 of the First Age, when only Hadrian would return, but I thought better of that.
In case you are curious or struggling to follow Hadrian's pairing thus far I have included it below.
