Camilla was sitting at a desk on the computer in one of the offices watching youtube videos. She was only allowed to the safe house and the DSS office. It was still summer and she missed being in the outside world. She missed her friends, she missed soccer, she missed walking down the boardwalk. She didn't blame her parents at all, they're trying to keep her safe. Somedays she thinks about what life would've been like if she grew up on the run with them. Seeing different parts of the world, fixing cars with her father, cooking with her mother on the weekend. That was the little fantasy in her head that she dreamed. But she knew why Letty gave her up in the first place, it wasn't safe for her.
Elena walked into the room carrying in lunch for her. "I brought you lunch. They had chicken club sandwiches downstairs."
"Thanks."
"You're not too bored up her?"
"No I'm managing. Do you mind me asking you something?"
"Yeah."
"Was my dad a bad guy?"
Elena sat down in the chair in front of the desk. "The world saw your father as bad guy but he was just somebody that made choices at the wrong time. He was always took care of everybody. It didn't matter who you were or where you were from, he welcomed you in like family."
"I remember seeing his face on the news as a kid. I didn't know who he was but he looked familiar."
"He was avenging your mother. He thought she was dead but the man nearly killed her. Everybody else saw it different. He was Robin Hood for a lot of people and they didn't like it. He got framed for a job and he ran. But he decided to stop running."
"He stopped running with you right?'
"Your dad and I understood what it felt like to lose the person you loved. We filled a void for the other but he never stopped loving your mother. I know this is never how you saw your life turning when you met them but your parents would give their whole lives for you."
"Do you think they'll come back this time?"
"I know they will. They always find a way."
Dom and Letty walked into their room in the safehouse. They had gotten a briefing from Ramsey on where Cipher was going to hit next and a lead they were going to follow. Letty dropped her bag at the foot of bed and went into the bathroom. Dom sat down and took off his shoes.
"So who's watching Camilla?"
"Some guys as DSS. Elena is heading the detail." She said behind the bathroom door.
"Did you say Elena?"
She opened the door wearing a silk green robe. "Yeah, she's watching her. I didn't know she would be there and to be honest I feel better having her with somebody that can keep her safe than some stranger." She says walking out the bathroom. She pauses when she sees him just looking at her. "What?"
"You just look beautiful."
"I'm just in a robe."
"You know what I see when I look at you." He says as he stood up, he starts walking towards her. "Beautiful, brave, embodiement of an angel."
"Now when have I have been an angel?"
"You've always been one to me." He wraps his arms around her and kisses her. He lets his hands runs down her back and pulls her closer to him.
"Dom it's only been three days." She laughs.
"A day is like a year for us. Let me enjoy this moment right now." He says as he touched her bump.
"Okay."
"How they doin?"
"These two love to dance in there. They got your cuban genes for sure."
"We should bring them their. The kids, have them meet the family, Camilla can see where she comes from."
"Cuba was our little bubble."
"You wish we never left?"
"No. We would never had Cami back if we didn't. But where we are together, I'm happy." She says wrapping her arms around him. She kisses him and he lifts her off her feet into her arms.
"Let's get you guys to bed." He carries her over to the bed and lays her down. He pulls the covers over her and adjusts the pillows for her back. "Imma be back. I'm gonna call to check on Cami."
"Okay. Tell her I love her." He kisses her forehead and heads out on the balcony. He sits on the patio chair and pulls out his phone to call his daughter. He facetime called her and the screen pops up to see her face.
"Hey dad."
"Hey kid. You doing good?"
"Yeah. I'm doing alright."
"You're being nice to Ms. Elena.'
"Yes sir. Is mom with you?"
"Yeah, she's resting right now. She was tired after her flight came in."
"When are you coming home?"
"We still working on finding Cipher but hopefully it won't be long."
"I miss you guys."
"We miss you too. Your mother sends her love. I'll call you in the morning okay."
"Okay. I love you dad."
"Love you too mija. Bye."
"Bye."
She hangs up and he puts his phone in his pocket. He walked back inside and closed the door, locking it behind him. He sees Letty dozed off and looking so at peace. Her hand was tucked under the pillow and the other on her stomach. He changed into his white-beater and sweatpants and got into bed. He cuddled up behind her and wrapped his arm around her body, resting his hand on hers. She shifts her body backwards into his chest.
"You awake?"
"Mmmm, maybe. I got a little restless waiting for you."
"Well I'm here now." He says resting his head in the nook of her neck, kissing her glowing skin.
"Good. Is Cami okay?"
"She's good. She misses us."
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. We could've had more time with her."
"Baby I forgive you. You made the best choice for her. We have her back now and we can be a family now."
"I just look at and think of what could've been, even though we can't change it."
"Then let's make the most out of what we have now. You, me, Cami, the twins, and what ever other kids come after this."
"Hold on. Can we get these kids out before we think about another one?" She turns around and looks at him.
"Can a man dream?"
"You just love me being pregnant."
"Yeah I do." He kisses her and hugs her.
"Well dream about while I take this nap." They lay back down on the bed and dozed off into sleep together.
