He lost.
The Light in the Galaxy That Kept Chaos at Bay, The Psychic Beacon That Kept the Ruinous Powers from Disrupting Hyperspace Travel, The Only Hope that Humanity Had to Survive and Possibly Thrive from the Horrors and Madness of the Galaxy... Had Perished.
He had many names, but was always recognized as a name by all mankind in the 30th millennium onwards, to his followers; the God-Emperor of Mankind, to his enemies; the Anathema or Corpse-Emperor.
Whatever He may have been before the Horus Heresy, the Emperor now was truly a God within the Warp, equal in power to any of the four major Chaos Gods, and very likely as powerful as all four of them combined, as He had become perhaps the strongest spiritual force for Order in the Milky Way Galaxy.
Even so, he failed.
He wept until the end, his golden tears startling his followers as they watched him in the throne room. He wept because everything he did, everything he sacrificed, all the horrors and atrocities he committed were for nothing.
Himself trying to get rid of religion for his superstition and brainwashing the masses was in vain, himself being revered as a living deity, the irony was not lost in him.
His coming out of the shadows in an attempt to unify humanity directly was completely flawed by many of his own mistakes.
He had made one of the worst mistakes of his life, he got rid of his emotions, one of the greatest ironies of the universe, the 'God-Emperor of mankind' sacrificed the only thing that really made him human.
Before the creation of the Primarchs, his own children, he decided after months of internal debate that the best option was to get rid of his feelings in order to make more rational and definitive decisions for the betterment of mankind as a hole.
He should have never considered such a decision, as he, the emperor of mankind, to have undone one of the main things that made a human? What separated them from living beings to complete soulless machines that he himself fought?
So he made one colder decision after another; putting down his Thunder Warriors as if they were rabid dogs, greatest warriors and brother in arms who brought peace and unified Terra under his rule, betrayed in such a way.
They should have died as warriors and recognized as such, but he didn't think so at the time, he just regarded them as a problem that needed to be solved.
And his children...
What a horrible father he was…
His lack of feelings made him make even worse decisions with his children, one after the other, and his lack of Empathy along with the rigorous conditions that many had to go through to overcome did not cooperate.
The II, the XI, Angron, Mortarion, Magnus, Konrad, Fulgrim, Perturabo...
And Horus…
They all had problems that could have been easily solved if the Emperor had an ounce of Empathy at that moment, if he had thought with his emotions and not cold, calculating logic…
He should have created them as human beings, leaders of tomorrow, the day they could finally put down their weapons was so much easier, instead he created them as weapons and tools, using them as he saw fit and beneficial to mankind.
He never really realized that unlike him, his children didn't have such a cold and calculating mentality, which made their betrayal even more shocking to him.
And yet, he never forgave himself how he acted with Lorgar.
The planets his son conquered were one of the most loyal of all his Imperium, he was dedicated and admired his father on a fanatical level.
Instead of being punished in such a way, he should have been much more cautious and understanding.
Yes, if he had simply turned a blind eye to what his son was doing, possibly the Horus Heresy might never have happened.
Lorgar would never have taken his brothers to Chaos, as he would never have his identity crisis and would never have fled to the Eye of Terror, he was simply too loyal.
He should have rewarded them for their loyalty, nurturing them along with some harsh words.
Above all, he should have talked, it was very ironic how simply talking at length with Lorgar could have prevented so much death and destruction. But his logic didn't say that, for him it was an affront to the Imperial Truth and a problem that had to be solved in the most effective way.
Now he saw how much work he had done to distance himself from his children, being emperor of a galactic expanning empire was one of the hardest things the emperor had ever done, but something that was necessary.
And religion, his biggest enemy, something that since the days he walked her old earth, even trying to encourage them to forget these absurd ideas, even trying to convince them to abandon such absurd ideas, and even when he tried to destroy it with his own hands, has been shown to thrive non-stop.
All this culminated in a period of the bloodiest 10 millennia in human history, with a corrupt and inefficient regime that wasted the lives of soldiers without caring about the consequences, along with the destruction of entire planets, faunas completely obliterated by the simple trivial fear of an inexistant corruption that would never come.
Yet this brutal theocratic regime lasted thousands of years, imagine how long a really decent form of government could last?
But now he couldn't think about any of that, just accept its inevitable end, accept the failures of his children and his own.
His eyes closed for one last time, as his light faded from all corners of the galaxy, the few planets left of the Imperium that were desperately fighting for survival would notice the disappearance of their protective layer.
Their Emperor had perished.
But what everyone imagined was the end of the great monarch, where the end of the galaxy at large would come, and the possible total dominance of the Forces of Chaos, the impossible happened.
A portal, an otherworldly gateway made manifest by warp has emerged.
A miracle, something impossible and very convenient at the moment.
But the Warp was a place that was totally uncontrollable and impossible to predict, but what mattered was, he had a way out.
He could run away, escape and recreate the human race with his genes, and with the knowledge of his past, he could avoid the mistakes he made so long ago.
Even so, he hesitated, he hesitated too much, watching his custodians fight to the death to give him enough time to flee, as hordes upon hordes of warp monsters attacked them in countless numbers.
No, he wouldn't abandon those who fought by his side for so long, those who sacrificed so much just to be by his side, those who never questioned and did the impossible time and time again without asking for anything in return.
He shall never abandon his ever companions ever again.
Using all his psychic might left, he basked all the rest of the imperial palace and teleported them to join him, the gigantic and sudden flash of light managed to blind everyone present, especially the Daemons, many who disintegrated with the sheer pressure of the powers of the Emperor.
The Custodes simply closed their eyes and bowed their heads in acceptance, whatever their Lord was doing, they would accept it fully with open arms, everything he had done had won the Custodes' full trust and loyalty, being created to be like that didn't matter to them.
Then, in a flash of light, a small but main part of the imperial palace disappeared, for Chaos a glorious victory, as the Anathema was no more.
Or was he?
His footsteps echoed off the walls of Nazarick, it was still hard to believe this was all real, the flags hovering in the wind inside the dungeon as the Npc's knelt and basked in the black glow of Momonga... Or rather, Ainz.
His arrival in this world was very unexpected, but welcome, he didn't have much to enjoy in his old world, but in this one? The possibilities were endless.
Slowly he walked up the few stairs that led to his glorious throne, the throne of Ainz Ooal Gown, the throne that he and his friends had created with hours and a lot of heartache.
He let out a fake sigh (Skeletons don't have lungs), how much he missed them... How many adventures could they have gone through together...
"Still being the same silly self-reflective we love Momonga? You don't change." A voice came from below the stairs in the center of the room.
"Leave him, it's adorable when he's thoughtful like that, it shows he cares." A second voice accompanied it with a giggle.
He lifted his gaze to find two figures walking towards him, he couldn't contain the smile that would emerge.
Of course, his friends who came with him, the ones who came when called and who stayed with him until the end, the ones who comforted him when no one else would.
"Momongaaaaaaa~! We are baaaack!" Peroroncino screamed as he flew like a thunder and hugged the Skeleton, Momonga almost fell from his throne in surprise as the Birdman laughed.
"You had to have seen the scenery Guild-Master... The stars were beautiful, Stars! I had only seen them in pictures of my parents! I never thought I would have the privilege of seeing such beauty with my own eyes!" He said with a smile that if it could, would have easily cut his face in half.
Momonga laughed, even with the emotion suppressor being activated, he was happy, he wasn't alone, he wasn't-...
"Did you felt that...?" The Overlord says in a serious tone as he leaves his friend's embrace, his smile fading.
The Tomb of Nazarick trembled as dust on the ceiling began to fall, many of the Npc's having a bit of trouble keeping their balance.
"G-g-glorious S-s-supreme Beings! W-what i-is h-happening?" Albedo would say, worry creeping into his voice.
"Sebas report, what is going on there on the surface?" The Guild Master placed a hand where it should have been heard from him while using the spell [Message].
"Light... A massive beacon of light that shines like the sun..." Sebas would say, his voice trembling.
"Sebas...?" Momonga would ask worried.
"The night became day from a source of bright that I never knew could exist... Even though I'm so far away, I can feel it... Something woke up..."
Bad? Maybe, I don't know, but here's the Prologue. I really don't know how no one has ever thought of this idea before, but I'm glad I have the honor of being the first! Expect bigger and better-done chapters than this one.
The Emperor will be very OP just like Ainz and his friends and will have a clash of ideologies and alignment, The Emperor is a warrior of the light while Nazarick's Supreme Beings are completely dark beings.
Ainz is an amazing character, but a good guy he is not.
It's going to be a lot of fun to write both sides vying for power in the new world! And I hope you enjoy reading it!
Any Review type will be accepted! The better they correct me the better it will be for others to read!
Thank you and peace!
