"I talked with Jason and Tim… they agreed that we should all get together and talk about our next move" Barbara said, as Dick drove on his motorcycle towards Gotham City
"How-how are they doing?" Dick couldn't help but ask, taking a turn into a hidden roadway familiar to him and a select few others
"Well like all of us, in shock I believe... they aren't exactly being straight forward with their feelings on the matter. What about you Dick? I mean I know you and Bruce were always closer than the rest of us after all"
"I'm fine Barbara" was all Dick said, making the red head worry. Dick had barely talked throughout this whole conversation... something which he never did, unless sad or mad
"Alright... well anyway both Jay and Tim on their way to the belfry as we speak right now... you're the only one who has yet to tell me if you're coming"
Dick closed his eyes at the mention of the belfry and not the bat cave. He still couldn't believe what happened… heck part of him was actually waiting to hear Bruce's voice again, tell them to cut the chatter and focus on the mission ahead
"Dick?" Barbara's voice suddenly said, causing him to snap out of his thoughts
"Still here Babs, just got lost in memory lane is all" he said, hearing the sigh from the other end as he finally arrived at his destination. Taking of his helmet and placing it on the handle, he looked at the place before him "Don't wait up for me… there's something I got to do first" Dick replied and turned off his com-link before Barbara could say another word
Slowly he made his way towards the now destroyed bat cave and looked around the place. Almost nothing seemed to have survived... not that Dick had expected of course
"What made you destroy the cave, Bruce" Dick said softly, running his fingers on the remains of the bat computer "I mean in the whole time I've known you... never would have I expected something like"
He saw the destroyed cases in which some of their costumes were kept. Dick smiled sadly at the remainder of his Robin costume. His eyes slowly traveled to the Bat suit... making the former Boy Wonder want to shed some tears
"Why... why couldn't you have just called any of us? I know you have trouble at times for asking help... but you could have maybe told us the situation. Instead you take it all on your own and in the process decided to kill yourself and leave the rest of us! Y-you promised me when you first took me in, that you were never gonna leave me or anyone else... seems you broke it and didn't care about us enough" Dick both in anger and sadness said. True much of what he said was due to being angry at Bruce, but that didn't mean that what he said wasn't true after all... he did leave him, Jason, Tim and Babs alone
Looking back up, a red blinking from father in the cave got the curiosity of Dick as he made his way towards it. After a couple of up and downs, Dick found what it was that was causing the blinking... it was Alfred's signal!
Sorry for the wait to anyone still following this story. I've been focusing on the other ones more and just forgot slightly about this one. Anyway happy to finally bring you all with a new chapter and this one is basically Dick centric mostly and finally we have Alfred at the end! Don't think I forgot about him ;) Poor Dickie... he lost his parents at a young age and now he's lost his second father figure, anyone would be saddened by this :( Sorry if the chapter isn't to anyone's liking, but I wanted a bit of Dick's mourning process. I might include Tim and Jason should any of you wish :)
