Hello, my longtime readers of Our Game Now. I know it's been a bit, since this story was updated. There's been a lot going on but the main thing is, coming back to this story after I've grown as a writer, I just cannot in good faith continue on as is...
So I'm re-writing it and fully fleshing out the story to it's full potential. So, stay tuned, because I will be posting it as a new story, and this one will be renamed "old Draft" I won't delete it though, since I want a record of what the "old" was. So, in the mean time, enjoy a small preview from the newest draft:
"That thing is evil."
Natsuki leaned against Yugi's desk, raising an eyebrow. Pieces of gold were scattered across it, the infamous puzzle from so long ago.
Yugi let out a low sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Oh, SO helpful.
The two were currently in Yugi's room… and this sight was nothing new. After all homework and chores were done, Yugi was always promptly heading to his room to work on the puzzle, eager to finally solve it… and Natsuki was always trailing behind him. Making sure he didn't stay up all night like he did the first few times.
This had been the main routine for the last 8 years.
"Y'know, I regret ever taking you into the occult section of the bookstore."
"Shush!" She huffed. "You owed me for that water bottle incident with my copy of-"
"Blackmail aside," he cut in, waving away the look she gave him. "You know, I made a promise to finish this thing."
"A lesson in futility." She muttered.
"Hey!" Yugi growled a little, slamming a hand on the desk. "What's that supposed to mean!?"
Natsuki grinned, winking.
"The definition of insanity, dear big brother; doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."
"... I think I liked you better when you were twelve and innocent."
"Ahuh. I liked you better when you weren't involving yourself in evil."
Yugi sighed, shaking his head, turning his attention back to the puzzle.
"If you don't want to be here, you don't have to be here." His eyes were fixed in a glare. "You've voiced many times how much you don't like this thing. Got anything else?"
ooooo
That's it for now, but I'll see you all in the future with the return of Our Game Now, as I'm a lot more confident in the story I wanted to tell and I wanted to truly give this concept the love it deserves. Thanks for sticking with me all this time and I'll see you on the flip side.
