SO, I'll just say: And many more... ANIMANGA PREFERENCE PATTERN In general I seem to have a very strange choice of character preferences... I almost NEVER like the main character of the story but rather the antagonist (villain) or deutragonist (kindly google). I like characters that are strong, intense and in a way complicated; those characters that, for example, have a terribly sad past or are generally misunderstood. My biggest 'HATE' in the anime world I'd happily dedicate to Haruno Sakura. No offense Sakura fans but I just feel she's very annoying, inconsiderate, dumb when it counts, useless in fights and just plain bitchy. Now from that description I think I've clarified one of the types of characters I hate - the annoying, useless ones. Then comes the goody-2-shoes types, then the awfully weak types... then the idiotic types e.g. Natsu Dragneel and finally super annoying types in which sakura, natsu and many more characters I hate fit in. It's really hard to bring me to tears and I LOVE anime or fanfiction that can bring me to tears because that just shows how good it is. I'm very picky or choosy about the anime/manga I read or watch and that's why I'm almost like a critic for my friends. And then there's the fact that I can't hold in spoilers or actually 'couldn't' because that habit seems to have faded away as far as I am concerned... but the habit of craving spoilers hasn't left me as of yet. I like anime that have lots of action but at the same time some kind of deep relation between the characters which maybe friendship or love. In terms of romance anime, I like those a lot too but I am VERY strict with the ones I watch in this genre; romance alone in an anime would be really boring or plain annoying... If there has to be romance then there HAS to be a bit of action or if not that then the love story should have more than just the usual fluff we get to see in are usual English films. The story should have a deep emotional plot with as much of sadness as it can put in (I'm a super fan of angst). Mostly its hard to choose between couple of series in anime but there are some of those that I can, even in my sleep, say that they are the kind that can never be made again because they are the 'once in a while' blockbusters and no other anime could take their place e.g.: Naruto Shippuden, Code Geass, Mirai Nikki, Chihayafuru and InuYasha. They are sort of what I would call absolute 'classics'. MY JOURNEY IN FANFICTION I started reading fanfiction two years ago and my first ever was 'Another Shot at love' by WeirdoBlabber one of my FAVOURITES and this marks the beginning of my love for Graylu because initially when I started 'Fairy Tail' it never came to me that Gray and Lucy could make a couple. From there on I began reading more and more of Fairy Tail fanfics (GrayLu of course) in which my absolute favourites, apart from the one I mentioned above, were 'I think I'm in Love with my Wife' by Hachibukai, 'Because of You' by IloveCelestialIce and 'Starstruck' by WeirdoBlabber. I also am a fan of 'Mystery Lovers' by SDQueen :p lol I know that's me but seriously I love that storyline and surely if the same were written by a better writer then it would have been sensational. Apart from Fairy Tail I began reading 'InuYasha' fanfics from where I got the sudden love for the sesshomaru x kagome pairing which I'm telling you I NEVER had in the anime because it just sounds so WRONG. But the fanfictions made me love them together. I'm still strict fan of InuKag but SessKag tops my Fanfic list. It wouldn't be wrong for me to say that I've read almost EVERY single SessKag and GrayLu fanfic that there is! I never had an account here until I think July or something of 2013 so I my favourite story and author list is just soooo incomplete. I never ever thought that I'd end up creating an account on fanfiction but it just so happened that on one of my visits to London, in my hotel room at 12am, I just decided I needed to be able to favourite/follow stories and get alerts so I just created one. Even then I had just created one to make reading easy and I had never expected to actually write a fanfic and post it! The idea was just so alien to me at that time. But when I read 'Because of You' I just got this surge of inspiration and that was when I began 'Mystery Lovers' which is my MOST appreciated fanfic. The writing of Mystery Lovers was like a phase for me that I'll never forget; it just made it look so easy! I used to just write a 16 page chapter in about three days and post it only to wake up the next day and see that my email box is full of fanfiction reviews, favorites and follows. It just made it look like it was so easy to get reviews and I really LOVED and I still do, reading my reviews and responding to them. Some where just so flattering that I could hardly believe they were for me! Then after two months when Mystery Lovers ended, I got a lot of reviews asking for sequels and for more fanfiction. So then came Delirium of the secret of Life (Dotsol). Dotsol was like an experiment for me... It was written for the sole purpose of indulging in a new genre and it was generally inspired by BastLover. Dotsol didn't get as many responses from readers as Mystery Lovers did and for the first time I realized how hard it actually is to get people to like your story. But there were a few readers who were really caught up in the story of dotsol because it wasn't your regular romance but it had another side to it. A few days after Dotsol was posted, I posted Dared to Love (D2L). The reason for this was to see if I could balance two stories at the same time and I got this thought from PrincessOfTheSakura who I noticed wrote numerous stories at the same time and balanced them beautifully. Slowly after 4 chapters of both, I realized it was just way too difficult to do that; hats off to PrincessOfTheSakura (Sakura-senpai)! It wasn't that I decided to give up, but it was that I saw that I was making many mistakes, updating late, contradicting myself often and so I dropped that idea. After making corrections to both stories, I decided to continue the story that was receiving more response which was D2L and that was when Dotsol went into hiatus mode. Slowly exams came around and loads of other busy times, causing my update rate to drop dramatically. Readers weren't very pleased with this and I got reviews asking me to update asap. This made me realize that all those times when I felt agitated at the writers because they don't update was just to inconsiderate of me because surely they had other things they were supposed to do. Just recently I took up a new pattern and made my updates fall on a weekly basis much like animanga does. In between I also wrote a One-shot, 'Destined' which was actually my English project. I had to write a romantic story with loads of flashbacks and so I decided that since the genre is romance, why not make it a Graylu? So that was how that happened... Generally I used to find it absurd for a writer to have only planned the ending of a story when he has yet to write the beginning... I remember reading one of Masashi Kishimoto's interviews online about how he has already imagined the ending of Naruto and has it all in his mind and that all that's left is for him to get the story there. I was actually really mad at him that day...I found it outrageous. And of course to add to that anger, the fact that Naruto would one day end just made it worse. But now that I started writing here, I realized that it is the same for all writers and that imagining the ending is just so damn natural. Though getting the story and turning it in a way that it gets there is a real challenge. MY FANFICTION MOTIVES Fanfiction began as a simple hobby but soon it became a form of convincing people and trying to persuade them into my beliefs. My main fanfiction motives would be firstly my idea of 'Passionate High school Love stories'. To explain that better... Most high school based love stories are written in a rather peculiar way and most people have come to believe that that is the only way a high school love story can be. I strongly want to oppose this view. The many high school love stories written all over the world are sort of like, allow me to use my usual term, 'flings' - as in, the romance is just so choppy. Boy meets girl and then it's like, "Hey you're cute, let's go out". Personally, stories like these I find pretty annoying. I prefer those type of love stories that have this passion in them...The type that shows the kind of love that puts a person in a state of euphoria BUT at the same time gives a whole lot of pain; the types where it's almost like destiny. These love stories are there by the hundreds but why is seeing a passionate love story as being a high school based one so rare? Why does it seem so unusual for love in high school to be passionate (I am not a love guru nor a love freak, I'm just speaking as a reader that loves a particular type of romance)? And THIS is the view I want to change. Most of the fanfictions I have begun or finished writing are high school based AND portray the passionate type of romance. This is like my way of showing people that romance CAN be passionate even if it's a typical high school one! Though, this really doesn't mean that I'll ONLY be writing high school stories... A writer needs variety after all and surely so do the readers. My next motive is rather more of a fan girl business - my 'KEEP THE GRAYLU ALIVE' project, as I like to call it. GrayLu as in (Gray x Lucy) from Fairy Tail. Though more of a fanon rather than a canon pairing, GrayLu DOES receive loads of love and support but recently due to it being less likely to happen in the main series, a lot of fans are turning away from it. The reason is what even bothers me most! So what if GrayLu is unlikely to become a canon pairing? Would that make it any less wonderful? Is it a given that we must support only that pairing which is more likely to become a canon one? (Yes, I am referring to NaLu). I’ve been watching Fairy Tail for a long time now and have ALWAYS, right from the start, admired Gray and Lucy as a pairing and never for once, have I ever turned away from this belief. Gruvia and NaLu aren’t obstacles, they are challenges which all those who have turned from ‘GrayLu fans’ to ‘ex-GrayLu fans’ have chickened out of and refused to take. When those current ‘ex-GrayLu fans’ used to admire GrayLu, was it because it was a canon pairing? In fact right from the start of the series, GrayLu never did actually have a real chance (though I’m still holding onto the hope of a miracle). So why then, did they admire it at that time? That only goes to show that they are not loyal fans. To be a loyal fan, is to stick with that which you admire, right to the very end, no matter what happens or what you think is going to happen or even what other people say or believe. Let’s continue believing in GrayLu, let’s continue writing GrayLu, let’s continue reading GrayLu and let’s continue supporting GrayLu! (If you ask me, I’d say all those who don’t support GrayLu should start too! It’s time to show the others that GrayLu is in fact THE BEST). If the NaLu and Gruvia fans think they are achieving victory in the main series, let us GrayLu fans show them that in the world of fanfiction and Fairy Tail fandom, we will always remain victorious and GrayLu will ALWAYS live on. If they have Hiro Mashima, we have Milady666, WEirDoBlabBer, IloveCelestialIce, Hachibukai, SapphireJinx, PrincessOfTheSakura, Kyto Touche, JustAnotherDreamGirl, PinkHugsandKisses, PiggyLover23, AlyaStarbright, Tsumiki-san, Yuki13…etc. AND of course SDQueen :D (NOW WHO’S THE BETTER ONE! Hehe) And this big family of faithful fans continue to grow each and every day. Let’s spread the GrayLu love and keep GrayLu alive! (This was not written to offend any NaLu OR Gruvia fans so please accept my apology if you have felt offended) Another motive would be to encourage other writers to update sooner rather than leaving those really extensive periods of waiting. I think every writer should make a schedule for themselves and keep a sort of fixed date for updating so that readers know when to expect it. Surely writers have lives outside the world of fanfiction and are busy... emergencies may arise... but I really think that if ever they feel they need a long break, they should at least warn their readers by indicating that the story will be on hiatus for a while. It's a tough thing to do...but I'm trying to push myself to do it so that I can be able to convince others because one must start with his/her self before questioning others. Lastly and finally, I believe every writer should share a bond with his/her readers. Every writer should appreciate their readers and every reader should appreciate the writer whose story they are reading. There has to be a two-way communication... A good writer should be able to accept reviews of every kind - criticism or praise. A good reader should try to leave a review after every chapter and try to point out errors or problems or try to advise the writer or praise the writer. What I am trying to say, in a nutshell, is that every reader should try to leave a review as frequently as possible to let the writer know what he/she felt about the written work. A reader doesn't have to like the story to review it. If a reader doesn't like a story and is going to stop reading it also, he/she should leave a review to tell the writer what he/she felt was inappropriate. The writer on the other hand, should be able to accept the criticism and praise, whichever it is, and respond to the comment in an amicable and grateful manner. The reader does the writer a favor by leaving a review and so it is the writers job to show his/her gratitude by doing his/her best in replying ALL the reviews he/she receives. Of course I am not just saying this...I personally try to follow this policy as well by reviewing everything I read and replying to everything I receive. The bond between the reader and the writer is not actually very vital but it helps to create a good environment for aspiring writers. Even though most of us, like me, just do this for fun, there are actually some out there who do this because they want to become successful and recognized figures in the field of writing. Why not give them a push and encourage their ambitions? The more writers we create, the more interesting novels we can expect in the future! WRITING IN MY LIFE Ever since I was kid, I was always told that I could become a good writer and that my imagination was pretty top-notch and for those who knew - wild. I always felt that writing was fun as long as YOU get to choose what it is that you wish to write; those assignments in English class just never seemed right. Up till now I'm 'supposedly' the best in English in my class and my writing is often praised by teachers and fellow students. Despite all that, trust me, I feel so overrated compared to the other writers here on this site! Everyone here is so amazing! Even though my mother language is NOT English, I've been speaking English for as long as I remember and it IS actually what I would call my first language seeing as my mother language is what I use less frequently. I'm very good with languages and can learn a new language really quickly. Japanese for e.g. I picked up after one month of watching anime and now I can pretty much speak it fluently. TOP TENS!
