So, I did this thing, called posting another chapter really quickly. Don't expect this again, I just got motivated from all of you who followed and favorited. And why not, let's respond to the two whole reviews I have.
Nobodyimportant11: Unfortunately, I'm still not a great writer, and most of my chapters are likely to be short. Eventually, I might rewrite this, and add in hella detail, like some of the fanfictions that inspired my. But, for now, they gonna be short, most likely.
Gabe2000: I'm hoping that the villain I'm going for is one for your liking. I won't say what type of villain exactly I'm going for though, everyone will just have to wait and see how he develops.
I hope you all enjoy. I'm accepting criticism so long as it's constructive, and not just meant to tear me down and be a dick.
You know, flying is a really nice sensation. I just wish I could enjoy it for a bit longer though. But, nope, cause now I have an annoying bug trying to "deal" with me. It's making my flight a lot less enjoyable than it was a few minutes ago.
"Why can't I hit you!" said bug cried out as she flew through me.
Glory Girl, also known as Victoria Dallon. She's been chasing me down for a few minutes now, and I've been trying my best to lose her, but she is really persistent.
"It's probably because I'm made of fire currently. I imagine that would make it hard to hit someone," I sarcastically replied. She seemed to take exception to that, and swung for my face this time. To be fair, she is dispersing me, but I reform pretty quickly.
"You know, it's a bit rude to just start attacking a cape you just met. Stupid too. You don't know what powers I have. In fact, as far as you know, I'm a guy who is trying to become a hero. This would really sour someone's impression of you, ya know?" I taunted her. She actually stopped attacking for a moment, and thought for a second.
"Are you a hero?" she hesitantly asked.
"Oh, no, I'm fucking with you. You were spot on in thinking that I'm a villain, but you really shouldn't make assumptions like that. You never know when you'll be wrong," I said, chuckling.
Ah, seems she's taken offense from that, and she's back on the attack.
"You know what, I really don't have time for this, but I also don't feel like killing you. This should make you run away though," I say after she passes by me again, then point towards her hair.
FSHHH!
I managed to light up the very end of her hair, and man she freaked out.
"Next time you attack me unprovoked, I won't just leave it at the hair. Now leave me the fuck alone," I ordered before diving down between some buildings.
One good thing that came out of that encounter though, is that my flying skills greatly improved. While I might be able to handle being partially dispersed, it doesn't mean it wasn't annoying.
I land in an alleyway and turn off my powers, the flames reverting to flesh. Stretching out, I tuck my wings back in, then realise they are way too big to hide. And unlike Max and her flock, it doesn't seem like I can retract them inside myself and hide them. Well shit. Good thing I didn't plan on having a civilian identity.
"Alright, what do I want to do for now? Maybe find my base? Or maybe those followers?" I mumbled to myself.
"Eh, I'll just do what I normally do. To the phone!" I exclaim. Quickly, I pull out my phone, and man am I glad that my clothes and shit changes with me. Then I realise, this ain't my fucking phone. Mainly due to the fact that it's a flip phone, and I haven't used a flip phone in my life. Opening it up, I look through it and get to the contact section. Scrolling through, I reach a contact named 'Mook 1.' A bit on the nose, but I did buy the mooks perk. Deciding what's the worst that can happen, I give it a call… and the fucker doesn't answer.
"Oh you bitch," I mutter to myself.
'Hi, I'm your new boss, now pick up or else, dumbass.' I text them. After a few seconds, my phone starts ringing. Answering it, I hold it up to my ear.
"I'm so sorry boss, I hadn't realised who it was!" a deep voice said.
"Yeah, whatever, I need a ride, do you know where the base is?" I asked.
"Yes sir, I received directions to it with the phone, I'll be on my way to you right now." The guy said then hung up.
After a few moments of annoyance, I sigh and quickly decide to find a street post and figure out where I am at the moment. Seems to be deep in the Docks, currently. Ah, there's a sign post. Now I just need to wait. After a minute, I feel my phone ring again.
"I was wondering when you were going to realise," I say, interrupting him. "I'm on the corner of Tower Boulevard and Wetland Street. Be quick," I tell him, then hang up. Sighing, I shake my head, then freeze as I feel something other than hair shifting.
Now that I've realised there's something there, I feel two things growing out of the top of my head. Reaching up, I grab one of them at the base, and slowly work my hand along it. As I go, I note that whatever it is feels very soft. After a few moments, I realise what exactly this growth, and most likely the other one, truly is.
I have small wings growing out of the top of my head, ala High Entia.
.
.
.
"Fuck," I muttered.
Apparently, the two giant wings I have on my back aren't flashy enough or something, so now I have a miniature set of them on my head. Goddamn, I'm really glad I ain't trying to keep my identity a secret. These alone would make it impossible.
After a few minutes spent in a slump, because I have fucking wings growing out of my head, I notice a car turn on to the street, then pull up towards me. I t stops a bit away from me, though doesn't turn off, and a big dude steps out of it.
"Are you…" he trails off, clearly dumbfounded.
"Your new boss? Indeed, call me Phenex, now can we please get going, I don't want to be out in the open any longer. Dealing with Glory Girl was annoying enough," I mutter.
"Right, sorry sir. If you would get in, I'll take you to the base, it's not far from here." He motions to the car.
I walk over, then realise a problem. My wings are going to be squashed in the front seat. There goes my ability to use most methods of transportation. Shit.
The mook seems to realise what's going on, and pipes up. "There should be more than enough room in the back, sir."
"I said call me Phenex." I order him, then maneuver myself into the backseat, grumbling. It seems there is enough room for my wings, but only barely.
"Please avoid potholes as much as possible, I'm not able to strap in," I tell the guy. He nods, and proceeds to drive towards the base.
After a few moments, he pulls aside and turns off the car.
"We're here Phenex," He says as he opens the door and helps me out.
"While I was coming to pick you up, I informed the others that you're here now, so the rest of them should already be inside." He says as he guides me down an alleyway. He approaches an old, rusted door and knocks three times, dun-dun, dun. The door opens and reveals a woman in casual wear.
"It's great to have you here boss," she says, then pulls me in. "Allow me to give you a tour of the place. My name is Samantha."
"I'm Phenex. What can you tell me about this place?" I ask.
"Well, it's honestly really interesting, though the best part has to be the sub-levels. We'll start with those," Samantha says as she guides me along. We approach an elevator, and as we do, I notice a symbol on it.
Cauldron's.
"Motherfucker." I growl out.
So, that's this chapter done. Let me know what you think, and don't expect this to be updated so quick again.
