Couldn't get this idea out of my head.

Izuku will be slightly older than class 1-A. He will be roughly 4 years older than them so in canon, this will put him at 19-20.

1st person POV

Everything hurts. I have been hurt multiple times before. Broken bones, torn muscles, stab wounds, gunshots, gas attacks, strangulation just to name a few. But this pain that I am feeling now I haven't hurt this much at once before. I can feel most of my ribs are at least cracked many have complete breaks. I feel my left arm bending the wrong way and my right knee is shattered. My head is swimming and a complex thought is beyond my grasp.

That is when another blow came to my chest. I wither in pain as I gasp and cough, while the man who hit me just starts laughing.

"Come on kid what's wrong?" The man grins "Not so big now are you." The man leans closer to me. "With all the fucking damage you and Eraser Head have done to my operations this is just payback."

I looked up at him with what little motion I had left in my neck and spit in his face. He then growled and kicked me in the head, I almost lost consciousness at that. I hurt everywhere and was numb at the same time. I couldn't think straight and couldn't get out of here on my own. It's going to be fine though, Aizawa's going to find me and get me out of here. I am going to get my ass chewed for being captured, but I don't care at this point I just want to go home. I will tell Aizawa that this bastard paid off some heroes to capture me, that ought to take some heat off me.

"Alright you little shit, I would love to keep beating you but some of us have some places to be. So, this is goodbye Deku." The man said as he threw the crowbar away and started walking towards the door. "Oh, before I forget," He looks back at me and we make eye contact, tell Eraser Head I said 'Hello'." The mob boss then opened the door and left the warehouse he had me tied up in.

Even though it hurt everywhere, and I just wanted to scream, I didn't want to give that bastard the satisfaction, I started crawling to the door. My hands and feet being tied together didn't help me much, but I was still making some progress. But it took me two minutes to move twenty feet, but I finally made it to the door. But I only had the strength to lean up against it. I was breathing deeply trying to stay conscious and aware.

That is when something caught my attention, I heard a ticking sound. I slowly lifted my head zeroed in on what was direct across from me. There was a timer counting down and around the timer were wires and explosives. The timer had 10 seconds remaining when I first zeroed in on it, and it was ticking down. All I could do was stare at it and accept my fate. I leaned my head against the door and closed my eyes.

3rd person POV

Aizawa was running as fast as he could as he was jumping from rooftop to rooftop. He was trying to get to Izuku before they killed him. Aizawa was angry at Izuku for getting captured but he was angrier at the Yakuza that captured him. Once he got Izuku home and made sure he was ok and got the greatest verbal beat down of the young 16-year old's young life he was going to destroy that man. The police had given him Izuku's location after interrogating one of the man's lieutenants. Aizawa was already out the door and heading to Izuku's location. He saw the warehouse he was a block away, four buildings, two, on…

BOOM

when an explosion shot him back across the roof he was currently on.

His ears were ringing, and he slowly got to his feet. It took him a few moments to collect himself when he realized what building just exploded. "DEKU!" Aizawa hollered out as he shot forward again and jumped off the roof to the ground below and started looking around the wreckage in a flurry of a man possessed.

That is when he saw something dark green Aizawa slowly turned to it and saw a white glove connected to the dark green object. He slowly started walking towards the white glove. His mind was covered in a fog. He knew that glove, he gave that glove to Izuku. It was when he gave the boy his official hero outfit when Izuku became Aizawa's sidekick. He walked closer and closer he felt this pit in his stomach grow larger and larger and something felt like it was blocking his throat.

He brushed some rubble away and came face to face with Izuku Midoriya, his sidekick, his apprentice, his friend, his… son in all but blood. He stared at the broken and scared body of the barely 16-year-old boy he had been taking care of and training the past 3 years.

Aizawa slowly bent down and brushed some loose dust off the boy's face as he cupped the boy's cheek. He felt his heart shatter in that moment and all he could think about the blinding smile that boy had, that he will never see again. Tears streaked down Aizawa's face as he scooped the boy into his arms. He held the boy tightly as he turned and started walking out of the destroyed building.

At this point, emergency services started showing up. Firemen were hopping out of their trucks and started hosing down the building and any flames on nearby ones. Police were blocking the area making sure only authorized personal were entering or exiting. And finally, ambulances showed up to help anyone that was injured by the blast.

Many saw Aizawa walking out of the wreckage many were walking up to him and trying to get information. Aizawa in a fit of pure unbridled anger lashed out with his quirk and scarf. This knocked many of them back but before any could question him Detective Tsukauchi appeared and got them all to back off. He had seen the body in Aizawa's arms. He knew that body was Izuku Midoriya and the slow pace Aizawa was walking Tsukauchi knew that the boy was dead.

Once he got everyone away from Aizawa he led the quiet and somber man away from everything to the edge where an ambulance was. He had Aizawa sit down on the back of the truck when an EMT was about to take Izuku away Aizawa lashed out and about broke the man's leg. Aizawa then held the body of Izuku closer to himself making sure no one could lay a hand on him. Tsukauchi got the EMT back on his feet and informed the man that the boy was dead and was the only thing keeping Eraser Head calm. The EMT nodded and walked away.

Tsukauchi turned back to Aizawa and saw that the man hadn't moved a muscle since he tightened his grip around Izuku. He slowly walked up to the man and kneeled next to him.

"Are you alright Eraser Head?" Tsukauchi asked the motionless hero.

"I'm fine… but this boy isn't, and he's never coming back." Aizawa hoarsely said so quietly Tsukauchi barely heard it.

Tsukauchi looked at the man with sad eyes he knew about the pair's relationship. Aizawa wasn't just a hero to work under for the boy. He was a father the boy never had and Izuku had become a son to the Underground Hero.

"This will be the last," Aizawa muttered.

"Last what?" Tsukauchi questioned confused at the sudden statement.

"This will be the last person I lose… never again," Aizawa stated with conviction as he looked down at the boy he had let down, Izuku Midoriya codename Deku, Aizawa's greatest failure.

2 months later

Hizashi was worried about his best friend. Aizawa threw himself into his work lately making no time for anything other than being a hero. Hizashi knew this was because of the grief for Izuku's death. Aizawa also started shutting people out more than before he met Izuku. This saddened Hizashi even more after he got the phone call from the normally laughing hero Ms. Joke who was close to tears because Aizawa completely cut contact with her and even told her to stop speaking to him.

Hizashi sighed as he continued driving towards Aizawa's apartment, the man had just started showing his interest in the woman who has been in love with the dark brooding man for years now. It was because Izuku pushing the two together after the boy had seen how much the women loved Aizawa and how Aizawa would act slightly different around her. Izuku picked up on Aizawa also had feelings for the women so Izuku with the help of Hizashi and Nemuri decided to get them together.

This brought Hizashi's thoughts back to the now-deceased boy he saw as a nephew. He could still remember the day Aizawa told him about the boy and how he met Izuku.

Flashback 3 ½ years ago.

It was 3 am and Hizashi was woken up by the ringtone he has for only his best friend Shota. Hizashi took a moment to orient himself. He started grasping at his nightstand where his cellphone was. He pressed accept and put the phone up to his ear.

"Hey man, it's nice to get a call from you but some of us aren't awake at this time of night," Hizashi said as he rubbed his face with his other hand and gave a yawn after he spoke.

"I'm adopting a kid," was Aizawa's deadpan response. Hizashi froze when he heard that sentence. The man who said the kids were irrational creatures and were too much work to deal with just said he was adopting a kid.

"What?" was Hizashi's intelligent response.

"I'm adopting a kid," Aizawa said with a sigh this time.

"Ok I heard that, but I need some context for this man," Hizashi said a lot more awake and with a brain that started racing trying to comprehend the situation.

"Well remember the new vigilante I told you about that has been popping up this last couple of months." Aizawa started already sounding like he was already done with the conversation.

"Yeah, you mentioned how the people that were saved because of them wouldn't give much of a description," Hizashi said remembering how Aizawa had been complaining about lack of witness help.

"Ok, so the reason the people weren't talking is that the vigilante is a kid," Aizawa said with another sigh at the end of his sentence.

"A kid?!" Hizashi yelled out, not see the flinch Aizawa had on the other end of the phone.

"Mic!" Aizawa hissed.

"Oh sorry. But seriously a kid, how old is this kid?" Hizashi inquired.

"The kid is 13," Aizawa revealed.

"Wow, that's young. Did you take him in to the police, or did you try to take him home?"

"That's the thing, the kid doesn't have a home."

"What?" again another intelligent reply by Hizashi.

"Yeah, kid's dad abandoned him and his mom when he was 4 and his mom died about 6 months ago. Instead of going into the system, the kid decided to run away."

"Huh, tough kid."

"Yeah, so after seeing this work the past couple of months and seeing him handle a low-level villain tonight and hearing his story, I decided to take him in," Aizawa said.

"That seems a little fast to me, bro. I get you like the kid and he has had a hard life, but should you at least take him into social services?" Hizashi said confused why his cautious and paranoid friend would be doing this.

"That's the thing. The kid didn't really break any laws and he wouldn't survive the system." Aizawa said his voice becoming somber at the end of his statement.

"What do you mean man, you're not making any sense."

"The kid is quirkless." The rational man revealed making Hizashi gasp a little bit. "The kid didn't break any laws because he didn't use a quirk and he wouldn't survive the system because he would face nothing but abuse and neglect no matter where they put the kid," Aizawa explained to his oldest friend.

"Oh man, yeah I get you, man, the kid wouldn't make it." Hizashi went silent for a few moments. "Well, I'm on board. I want to meet this little listener." Hizashi said with renewed energy.

"I figured you say something like that. Not tonight, I just got the kid comfortable and asleep for the night. You can meet him tomorrow and we can come up with how I can legally adopt him." Aizawa said.

"Can't wait," Hizashi said as he hung up the phone.

Flashback End

Hizashi shook his head to get back to the present. He was now 5 minutes from Aizawa's apartment, and he had to focus. His mind just kept drifting though.

When had gone over the Aizawa's the next day he was introduced to the 13-year-old vigilante and the kid looked at him star-struck. The kid had a nervous look until he recognized Hizashi. His whole demeanor changed, and he rushed forward with a bright smile on his face and the kid started asking multiple questions about his quirk in quick succession.

Aizawa bopped the kid on the head to get him to calm down which slightly worked. The kid stopped talking but he seemed to be vibrating. Hizashi laughed at him, the kid was full of energy and he loved it. He put on a big grin and put out his hand and gave the boy an over-enthusiastic introduction. The kid took the hand and gave him his name. Hizashi knew he and this kid were going to get along just fine.

Hizashi came out of that train of thought when he pulled up in front of Aizawa's building. He just hoped his friend would be willing to listen to him.

Aizawa was laying on his couch. He had been trying to sleep for 4 hours and couldn't. He hasn't been sleeping for the past 2 months and he knew the reason. It is the same reason he has been working nonstop with no breaks or days off and why he has been distancing himself from everyone he knew.

He could still see the dark green eyes of the woman to who he was starting to open his heart. He saw a spark go out in her eyes when he completely disregarded her. He felt what was ever left of his heart shatter when seeing those eyes. He just couldn't handle losing anybody else. He hated himself for what he did, but he would never regret it if she was safer because he wasn't near her.

That wasn't the only reason, her green hair and eyes just kept reminding him of the only other person in his life who had the same coloring. The one he worked so hard so he wouldn't think about him. His sidekick, friend, partner, his son Izuku.

The boy was dead and there was nothing bringing him back. When he had originally picked up the kid and brought him home, it was just to get the kid off the street and give him a place so he wouldn't be shunned. He also wanted the kid to stop being a vigilante. But after the third time, the boy followed him on his patrol and even helped taking down some gang member Aizawa finally had to ask the boy why he was so dead set on being a hero. Izuku revealed that no one believed in his dream. He had even met All Might before, a little while before his mother's death. He even told Izuku that he would need a quirk. He wanted to still help people, but he wanted to prove all those naysayers wrong. After hearing that little piece of information Aizawa decided to cut the kid a deal.

He told the kid he will start training for the boy. Izuku looked so happy at that. Aizawa told him it was going to be difficult and he will hold nothing back. He told the Izuku that he will be trained physically, mentally, and emotionally. Everything Aizawa was taught at U.A. he was going to teach the boy for the next 6 months. And then the boy can come with on patrol. He decided to home school the boy. Nemuri was a teacher so he got her to help send him the right materials for the boy who was quite smart already.

He kept up the training with the boy making sure he kept improving. The boy was learning about 2 levels above his age level. Izuku kept up his workouts and training as well. The boy had a low-level muscular physique from his few months on the street and knowledge of workouts. Izuku grew stronger quickly and was keeping up with Aizawa easier and easier.

Aizawa got Nemuri to help get Izuku on the U.A. campus to train at least once a month to help train the boy better. When Nezu saw the boy and when Aizawa told the rodent the story Nezu decided to help them out and helped the boy get a provisional license. When Izuku was 14 he took the test and passed. He was in the top 10 of the test. Aizawa couldn't have felt prouder of the boy.

That night he gave the boy a new and improved costume. The Izuku had been using had started becoming too small and had taken more damage and even with repair had started coming apart.

Izuku had picked the hero name Deku, for the nickname he had gotten in from a kid a few years younger than him in his old neighborhood a friend turned bully. Izuku had called the boy Kacchan. When Aizawa asked for his true name Izuku resisted for a while but Aizawa wore him when promising not to investigate the boy. Izuku revealed the name to be Katsuki Bakugo. Aizawa put that at the back of his mind when Izuku had told him the boy wanted to be a hero.

The next 2 years they had fallen into a routine of schooling a patrolling with days of fun in-between. He had gained a closer relationship with some of his friends, like Present Mic and Midnight. The three had always been close but because of Izuku's instance he spend more time with them he had gotten closer to them.

Izuku also tried pushing Aizawa into starting a relationship with Ms. Joke. Izuku had told him to find himself some happiness and Ms. Joke was all for starting something with him. They had only started seeing each other romantically in the past year though.

Aizawa took a deep breath as he tried to rid himself of those thoughts. He didn't want to think about Izuku he didn't want to think about anything. He just wanted to sleep for a little bit before he went out back on patrol.

That is when he heard a heard knocking on his door. He slowly looked over at his door not moving any other part of his body. He just laid there not making a sound. Then the knocking started up again, Aizawa didn't want to move, he didn't want to answer the door, he didn't want to do anything.

That is when he a key in the lock, he saw as the lock turned to the unlock mode and that is when the door opened, and the form of Present Mic came through the door. Hizashi scanned the room and then fell upon his prone form on the couch. He could feel the worry coming off the man in waves. He didn't have the energy to deal with him though.

"Hey bud," Hizashi started as he looked at his friend with nothing but compassion in his eyes. "I already know you aren't doing well but I came to try and get you back on your feet," Hizashi said as he closed the door and walked across the room to sit on the opposite couch with a rare serious look on his face.

Aizawa just stared at him not really looking at Mic though more like looking through him. Mic saw the dead eyes and knew his friend needed him more than ever.

"Look man I get what you are going through," Mic began. "We both have lost someone important before, we got through Oboro's death and we can get through Izuku's as well," Mic said softly as he watched his best friend. Aizawa for his part flinched at the mention of both names but gave no other response.

Mic sighed as he saw the lack of reaction. He knew this was going to be difficult, but he knew he had to try to save his best friend from this dark abyss that he had thrown himself into.

"Izuku wouldn't want you to be like this," Mic said in a sad quiet tone. Aizawa's eyes snapped to Mic's. Aizawa stared at him his eyes narrowing in a warning, but Mic knew he had to push on. "Izuku wouldn't want you to wallow in guilt and sadness he would want you to get back on your feet and be the hero he knew you were the hero who trained and took care of him for 3 years, the hero who meant everything to him even more than All Might. He would want you to continue on and not push everyone and everything away He would want to forgive yourself and push on." Mic released that all at once, he never broke eye contact with Aizawa once even when the man's narrowed more and his expression kept getting darker and darker.

"What do you know?" Aizawa asked so quietly Mic barely heard it.

"What do you mean Shota?" Mic asked already having an idea of what was going on in Aizawa's head.

"I said HOW WOULD YOU KNOW!" Aizawa yelled out in rage as he stood up from the couch. "How do you know what he would have wanted?! We can't know that because he's dead and he isn't coming back!" Aizawa's breath caught as he fell back on the couch sitting there with his head in his hands. "He's dead." Aizawa breathed out as he continued. "He is dead and it's my fault. I should have been faster, I should have found where they had him sooner, I should have been there to protect him from when he was kidnapped. But I wasn't, I didn't get there in time, I didn't find where he was quick enough, and I wasn't there to protect him from his kidnappers. All I got for justice was getting the mob boss arrest on different charges and that still isn't enough. I want that man to pay for what he did but there's nothing I can do." At this point, tears could be seen falling Aizawa's cheeks. He shuddered a bit before he continued on. "There is nothing I can do that will bring Izuku back and there isn't anything I can do to change that. My heart hurts so much because I let him down. It is because I let him down that he died, and I have to live with that guilt for the rest of my life."

Aizawa's tears were flowing freely at this point and he started truly crying. He wasn't wailing but he shuddered and let out all his pain. After he had finished speaking Mic quickly moved to the other couch to grab ahold of his friend and hold him and let his friend let it all out. He didn't say anything as he held his friend and let him take all the time he needed. He had a sad smile though because his friend broke down, and that first step to building himself back again, and Mic was going to be there every step of the way to help his friend.

4 months later

Aizawa was sitting with both Hizashi and Nemuri at a cat café. They both and been helping him deal with his guilt and grief for the past few months. He wasn't better yet but getting up every day was slowly becoming easier. He still hurt he still missed his son, but he could start becoming better and he knew his son would want that.

It is because of the thought of his son and the instance of his two best friends that he called Ms. Joke a month after Hizashi had come to visit him that day. He had talked to her for hours apologizing and begging forgiveness which she gave quite willingly and had also started to help him get through his grief. He was grateful that she was willing to do this for him.

He had gotten a new job teaching at U.A. a couple of months back. With the help of Hizashi, Nemuri, and Nezu. He had only been teaching for a month now, but he likes his new day job. He had made a deal with Nezu though. He didn't care who the person was, who they were related to, or what their quirk was if they didn't show protentional or showed the potential and we're wasting it, he would expel them.

When he gave that declaration Nezu looked at him for a few moments, the smile erased from the principal's face. Then the grin reappeared and accepted the condition. That meeting had started his teaching career. He had expelled about half his class at this point. He had stayed true to his word.

Aizawa had heard his name being called and looked up and saw his wonderful girlfriend making her way towards him his friends. He knew with these people he would be able to overcome his grief. He may never truly get rid of the guilt but if he could adapt and live with it and lessen the pain even a little bit, he would be happy. He would make Izuku proud and live on.

That Night

In a cemetery across the city from where Shota Aizawa had met his friends and girlfriend at the cat café something abnormal began to occur. This cemetery was quite large having filled up close to half a square mile. There were hundreds if not thousands of graves in this cemetery. Non looking different from the rest only difference being the different size and shape of the headstones.

At one particular grave though something started happening. The ground the filled the grave began to shift. Not a lot at first but after a couple of moments, the shifting began to increase. The shifting became moving and soon the ground looked like it started falling in on itself in a certain location.

Suddenly a hand shot through the dirt the hand was covered in dirt and mud as it grasped the air above. Soon it came back down to the earth and started to pull some of the dirt away from where it was. Then a second hand shot out and doubled the speed of the digging. 30 seconds later torso launched itself out of the dirt the lower half of the body still lodged in the ground. The figure opened its eyes and took in its surroundings. The figure slowly dug the rest of its body from the earth and shakily got to its feet. They slowly inhaled filling their lungs with air and slowly exhaled to get the full effects of the breathing. The figure then slowly started walking away from their grave and never looked back.

AN: I know, I know, I have other stories. But I just couldn't help myself, I have a problem.
