Nea's p.o.v.
"Shit.", I say, wiping my eyes and cheeks for the hunters time.
I thought hearing a message from my reality would ease things up but that's not the case. I feel hopeless and responsible for how Tony's feeling and there's nothing I can do. Not a damn thing.
I hear the gang talking and walking towards me and realize that I probably look horrible and they will notice something's going on.
"Hey Nea, where have you been? You missed a great duel.", I hear Joey say as I frantically try to think of some excuse for my absence and red, puffy eyes.
"I ...have ...an allergy and it can get really bad so I left.", I justify myself, hoping the gang will buy it.
"Didn't someone call you?", Tristan asks.
"Yea, yea. Nothing important, just Naki with his questions.", I smile.
As they approach closer, I see Joey narrowing his eyes, "Are you okay? Your eyes are red and swollen. Did you cry?"
I laugh, "Allergies. I love nature but nature doesn't love me sometimes."
"Oh, okay.", he tells me and I can see that he doesn't believe the story I sold them.
My eyes shift towards Yugi, "Did you win?", I ask and Tristan puts his arm around him, "Of course he did. I bet Yugi will win this tournament easily."
I smile, "I bet he will."
"Come on, let's go and find someone else to duel. This time I hope it will be my turn.", Joey tells us determinately.
"Yea, so you can loose.", Tristan jokes and Joey shoves him, "Hey!"
"Joey is a good duelist and I have faith in him.", Yugi speaks.
"Thanks Yug, at least someone believes in me."
We walk for a while before deciding to call it quits for the day. Since we camp near the sea, I decide to bring us some dinner.
"Hey, can you teach me how to do this?", Joey asks as I take my new bow and sets of arrows, "Sure.", I say smiling.
"I have to see this.", Tristan speaks, standing up.
"Come on.", I say and they all follow me.
"Okay, let's do this.", Joey tells me, walking towards the water.
"Do you really want to get all your clothes wet?", I ask, unbuttoning my pants.
"Umm, no.", he says, looking towards the sea.
"Then get comfortable.", I say while taking my shoes off.
I see Joey blush, "You're going to undress yourself?"
I smile, "I have a man's shirt so it's long enough."
"But mine isn't.", he informs me.
"Just take your damn pants off, there's nothing to see either way.", Tristan tells him.
"You're really getting on my nerves.", Joey tells Tristan while taking his pants off.
Now, he's left with boxers that have pink hearts all over them.
"Nice design.", I tease him.
"Yea, yea.", he tells me as the rest laughs.
"Come on.", I motion my hand for him to follow me.
"Damn, this is cold!", he informs me.
I turn around, "Don't be a baby."
He stands next to me and after a few seconds asks, "Okay ...what now?"
"Now we stand still for a few minutes. No talking, just breathing."
When the water calmed down and fishes slowly surrounded us, I take my bow and arrow, and aim at the one fish that seems the most relaxed. Sorry hun but we have to eat. After a few seconds, I release the arrow and it pierces right trough the animal, sticking into the seabed.
I pull the arrow out and trow it on the land, towards the gang.
Repeating the process a few more times, I caught enough food for us to have a decent dinner.
"Your turn now.", I say to Joey, handing him the bow and three arrows.
"It looks pretty easy.", he tells me, taking the position.
I shake my head, "No." and he looks at me, "What?"
"Belly in, chest out, stand straight, make a small gap between your legs.", I tell him and he looks at me a little confused.
I sigh and walk behind, helping him with everything I just said.
"Now focus and aim at the one that seems the most clueless.", I say.
He shoots the arrow but misses.
"Not bad for the first time.", I say, collecting the arrow.
"One more time.", he tells me and I nod.
We kept doing that until Joey caught his first fish.
He smiles, proudly looking at his catch, "See? Told you it was easy."
I smile as he walks away.
"Can I try?", I hear a deep voice behind me and smile while turning around, "You caught your fish."
He smirks, "Did I now?"
I blush, realizing what he's referring to. He takes his shoes off and starts to unbutton his pants. I look the other way, feeling my cheeks heat up even more. I know I'm suppose to put a stop to it but ...I just can't. It feels too natural for some reason. This is going to cost me a lot really soon.
"Can I?", he asks, standing beside me.
"Sure.", I say, handing him the gear.
It didn't take long for him to take the perfect aim and catch one fish.
I lift my eyebrows, amazed by his skills, "You really are a natural."
He looks at me, "You think so?"
"It takes a lot of practice to be that precise. Your skills are amazing-"
Before I can finish my sentence, he puts his hand behind my head and pulls me into a passionate kiss. I feel adrenaline rush trough my body as he deepens the kiss. My mind is saying no but my body is too enchanted to push him away. I grab his shirt with my hands and pull my body closer to his, enjoying every moment of this situation.
Reality comes the moment I hear footsteps approaching us so I push him away and take a deep breath.
"Dinners ready.", Joey informs us, shifting his eyes from Yami to me. He saw us.
"We're coming.", I say, giving him a small smile but he doesn't return it back.
"You feel good to me.", Yami tells me and I look at him, "We need to go back", I say and he nods, realizing this is not a good moment to talk.
When we join the gang, food is ready and we dig into it. I try to keep myself focused and not think about the kiss but that's hard considering that Yami is still out, sitting next to me. After diner Yugi took over and we all had a nice conversation. At one moment I apologize myself, feeling like I need to be alone for a few moments so I walk away from the group and make myself comfortable next to the shore.
I breathe in the salty smell the breeze keeps sending my way and admire my surroundings. This world is visually so different but nothing less beautiful. I look at the stars and wonder if Tony can see the same sky as I can. I still don't quite understand this dimension switch so maybe we are closer than I think.
"Can I join you?", I hear Joey ask.
"Sure."
"So ...are you going to tell me what's happening between you and Yug?", he asks.
I look at him, "Do I have to?"
"No but it would be nice."
"Whatever is happening, I have a feeling you don't like it.", I say.
"It's complicated.", he informs me.
"I get it, don't worry.", I say, looking at the stars again.
"Why did you cry?", he asks another uncomfortable question.
"My brother called. Left a message actually.", I inform him.
"He can reach you?", he asks confused.
"Apparently ...but I can't respond. Don't ask me why, I still don't really understand everything."
"What did he say?"
I go trough my watch and replay the message for Joey. As Tony talks, his voice consumes me. I feel every word he's saying.
"Your brother sounds like a nice guy.", Joey comments as the message ends.
"And your team sounds amazing. They really miss you."
I smile a little, "And I miss them."
"I care about Yugi the same way your brother cares about you."
I look at him, "I know."
"You'll leave eventually and he'll be hurt."
I swallow a rock, "I know."
"I don't want that."
"Neither do I, trust me."
"Why don't you just tell him the truth?", he asks.
"I can't."
He scoffs and I look at him, "If I tell him, his life will be at risk. It's enough I have you on my back."
"You think that you're protecting him, but you're not. You're going to hurt him in the end and that's the reality.", he tells me and stands up.
"Joey, come on.", I say.
"You're supposed to be a hero. Prove it."
I shake my head a little, "How?"
"By staying away from him.", he tells me and walks away.
