3X22 – Part 1

Caroline pulled her knees up to her chest and curled into herself. What had just happened? She had been the victim of Alaric's torture for hours, saved Klaus, then she had thrown herself at him. God! She nearly slept with him. Her body was still buzzing with desire. She slowly moved her thumb over her lips remembering the heat of his kisses and the scratch of his stubble.

What the hell was she supposed to do now? She was with Tyler. She had entertained Klaus' attention for the sake of her friends. She was the perfect blonde distraction. But over those weeks of missing Tyler and spending her time with Klaus, she had seen a very different side of him. One that she genuinely liked. Selfishly she had even sought out opportunities to be the distraction. His words from the decade dance played in her mind.

"Mark my words, small town boy, small town life. It won't be enough for you"

Those words shocked her because there was truth in them. Since turning into a vampire, her goals and desires for the future had slowly started changing. She just hoped Tyler's desires would change with hers.

There was something about Klaus that she couldn't stop thinking about. His 1000 years on this earth gave him an air of mystery. He could be kind and thoughtful one minute and the next threatening someone she loved. When she thought about him her mind and her heart went in a million different directions.

Suddenly she heard her phone started to vibrate. She picked it up.

"Caroline! Finally, I've been calling you for hours? Where are you? Are you okay?" Her mom rushed through the phone.

"I'm fine. I'm fine. I ran home and fell asleep," she lied smoothly.

"Can you meet me at Lockwood's? The counsel knows everything and they are on the rampage. Be careful." Her mom stressed.

"Be there in 10"

She hung up and took a deep breath. She needed to forget anything even happened with Klaus. Easier said than done.

K & C

She pulled into the expansive driveway at the Lockwood Estate. She still couldn't stop thinking about Klaus. Somehow, he had gotten her car back to her house, with a full tank and keys in the ignition. Seriously, having minions must be nice sometimes.

Caroline! Get a hold of yourself! She slowly got out of her car and dragged her feet into the foyer of Tyler's house.

Her mom, Carol, and Tyler rush towards her. Tyler hugged her and she loosely returned his gesture. This didn't feel right.

"Mom? What's going on?" she asked as she faced Carol and her mom.

"Alaric outed us to the council. He told them everything. The whole council knows what you are," Carol replied while nervously wringing her hands.

"He's got them looking for Klaus. And then they are going to come looking for you. You can't be here when they do," her mom supplied.

Tyler grabbed her hand and squeezed it as if to offer her comfort. She didn't return the squeeze, just continued to stare at their moms. She needed to tell Klaus. He must know that Alaric is after him as well as his siblings but know the council would be hunting them too. Could a group of humans really pose any threat to him? She hoped not.

"What are you saying?" she asked.

"You both need to get out of town," her mom expressed with urgency.

"I've pulled together some cash. And Liz has gotten you new identification. We'll get school records, and..." Carol said as she handed them new documents.

"Wait a minute, you want us to run?" Tyler asked defensively. Obviously not a fan of being run out of his home again.

"We can't protect you anymore," Liz said with heart break in her voice.

"Well, we can't just pack up and leave," Caroline argued.

"If you stay, you're going to end up dead. You don't have a choice." Carol pleaded with them.

Caroline looked to her mom. Liz slowly shook her head at her daughter with tears in her eyes. Caroline knew that her mom was right. She had to flee Alaric and the council. Mystic Falls was no longer safe.

K & C

Tyler pulled her into his dad's office. She began to pace. She can't run away with Tyler. Not after today. Honestly not after the last few weeks with Klaus. She can't do that to him.

"We can't just leave town" she scoffed

"Yes, we can," Tyler calmly replied as he sat on the arm of the leather couch.

"No, our friends need us"

"And our mothers need us to stay alive! Look, Stefan and Damon are going to do whatever it takes to protect themselves, but this is our lives. So let me protect you" Tyler argued. He slowly approached her as if to bring her in for a kiss. God why did he have to be so good. She felt her heart sink. She had to tell him. Caroline pushed him away slightly.

"Tyler, I can't leave with you"

"Yes, you can. You have to. Care c'mon don't be dramatic"

"I kissed Klaus!" she almost yelled at him.

"What?" he pushed her away from him.

"Earlier today. He saved me from Alaric. Once he rescued me, he told me to get out of the school and go straight home. But I stayed. Alaric nearly killed him. Alaric snapped my neck and then I woke up back in my room with Klaus. Then I kissed him," saying out loud was a relief. Tyler stared at hurt with a look of hurt. He was silent for a long moment.

"Get out of my house," Tyler snarled.

'Tyler, please, I am so sorry. I never meant for anything to happen. I have always wanted to be honest with you. I am sorry. I can't leave with you." She turned to go. "Be safe"

She turned and ran to her car.

K & C

As soon as she got into her car, she scrolled through her phone for Klaus' number; he programmed it into her phone the night of the Mikaelson Ball. The phone rang and rang. Please Klaus, pick up your damn phone.

It went to voicemail. She called 3 more times. Nothing. Where was he? God had Alaric caught up to him. Of course he was obsessed with her 99% of the time, but as soon as she called him...nothing.

She scrolled through her phone again. Finding the only other number she had. Rebekah. Being cheer captain came in handy sometimes. Her phone rang. Caroline started the car and pulled out of the driveway. Dammit she would just find Klaus on her own.

"Caroline, I heard you escaped my mother's monster" Rebekah answered in her mean girl tone.

"Rebekah. The council knows about Klaus and your family. Alaric told them about everyone. Including me. Where is Klaus? I need to talk to him."

"He's with Elijah. Why would we be worried about a few humans who know what we are. What can they do to us?"

"Alaric is going to use them to help bring you all down. You know your mother wants you all dead. We need to desicate Alaric without killing Elena. I'm on my way to yours. Get your brothers. We're going to need all the original strength we can get," she said then hung up her phone. She pressed her foot down harder on the gas pedal heading straight for the Mikaelson home.

Hey everyone! I hope you are enjoying this story as much as I am. I would love feedback whether I should include Elena's vampire story line or not? Personally, I did not like this part of the show, but it does cause a lot of events throughout season 4. Let me know what you think.
