Previously on Adventures In Kanto, The Cul-De-Sac kids and Professor Oak arrived in Pallet Town after their six-hour flight from Peach Creek. Some were very eager to begin their adventure which Rolf did. Tasked to meet him later The Eds, Kevin, Nazz, and Jonny did so and received a Pokédex as well as empty Pokéballs to begin their adventure. Thanks to the jock's bike Kevin and Nazz were able to immediately get a head start on the other kids mostly the Eds. Eddy not wanting to be left in the jock's dust headed off with Double D and Ed alongside him. During their trek through Route 1, Nazz caught her first pokemon, A Pidgey while Ed and Eddy competed in their first Pokemon Battle and Eddy ended up taking the win. What other surprises will be in store for the Cul-De-Sac kids? Find out now.

Chapter 3 -Capture Chronicles

The Eds continue trudging through Route 1 as they were growing tired especially Double D who lacked physical strength however mercy was shining on them as several buildings were beginning to come into view. "Finally we made it to this Pewter City. Took long enough." Eddy groaned fatigued from the walk from Pallet Town. Double D looking at the sign and groaned seeing the true location name of the town and was about to deliver news to destroy Eddy's hopes.

"Actually Eddy, This city is called Viridian City. Pewter City is still quite a ways north from our current position." Double D informed him pointing at the sign which read "Viridian City". Hearing this news Eddy groaned as dropped to his knees in exhaustion.

"Are you kidding me? We still have more walking to do?" Eddy complained. The shorter Ed then felt a hand being placed on his shoulder.

"Fret not Eddy. I am sure there may be tasks for us to perform here in this city as well as resting up before heading off again." Double D assured his friends.

"Hey, guys." A familiar voice called out to the three Ed boys as the three preteen boys turn around to realize that the voice belonged to Nazz and immediately all three Eds started to become lovestruck with Eddy and Ed not being able to speak to the girl.

"Nazz, I wasn't expecting to see you here as well. I'm assuming that Kevin is also located nearby as well." Double D greeted the blonde. Hearing the mention of the jock's name Eddy broke from his love-struck trance.

"Kevin? Where is that shovelchin loser?" Eddy questioned. After his first victory against Ed, the quick-tempered Ed was ready for another battle, and defeating Kevin would be A great additional momentum for his start as A Pokemon Trainer.

"Kevin? Oh Rolf and him, are at the Pokemon Center, resting their Pokémon." Nazz answered.

"Pokémon Center?" Both Eddy and Double D questioned. Nazz then gestured for the three preteens boys to follow her and it wasn't long before the four of them were in front of A white building with an orange roof with a white pokéball insignia on it as well as a sign next to the door that had the initials "P.C".

"Here we are, dudes. These Pokémon Centers are made for trainers like us when our Pokemon get too hurt to battle and it's actually for free." Nazz gave A brief explanation of the functions of the center.

"Well, that should serve our needs quite well. Eddy and Ed had a battle on Route 1 between themselves so both of their Pokémon would need some attention as well as my own." Double D informs the blond of their activities since being briefly split up. After entering the center the four of them walked up to the counter to see a pink-haired blue-eyed woman wearing a nurse's cap with a pokéball on her head, a white apron over a pink collar short-sleeved shirt.

"Good morning! Welcome to the Pokémon Center. Would you like to rest your Pokémon?" The nurse greeted and questioned the four trainers entering the center.

"Yeah if can and make it snappy, we're on a timer." Eddy asked handing her his Squirtle's Pokéball.

"Eddy, Manners!" Double D scolded his friend. "I'm sorry about my friend's rudeness. We would most incline if you can restore our Pokémon's health." Double D politely as he presents his Bulbasaur's Pokéball.

"Work your medical magic and revive my fallen friend!" Ed asked of the nurse presenting Charmander's Pokéball to the nurse. Each Pokéball was placed on a separate tray.

"I'll take your Pokémon for a few seconds, then." The nurse explained as one by one she sets each trainer's Pokéballs on a machine to her right and a melody plays throughout the center. "Thank you for waiting! We've restored your Pokémon to full health." The nurse said handing the Eds back their Pokémon "We hope to see you again!" The nurse said as the four walks away from the counter.

"Well her moments and expressions were a bit metallic, to say the least." Double D commented.

"Yeah yeah, we don't have time for that. We have to get to Pewter City and get that badge before Shovelchin." Eddy reminded his two friends. The shortest Ed was about to take off once again however was stopped by Double D.

"Come now, Eddy. I understand your wish to succeed before Kevin can take the glory but surely we can sightsee this city." Double D asked. He understood Eddy's determination to best Kevin in becoming a better trainer however he did not want to miss the opportunity of exploring this Pokemon region.

"Well Kevin is too busy looking on the route west of here for his first Pokémon and Rolf went to investigate the gym in this city." Nazz explained which immediately caught the Ed's collective attention.

"There's A Gym here too?" Eddy questioned to which Nazz nodded yes to. Almost immediately Eddy grabbed Ed and Double D by the back of their collars and rushed out of the Pokémon Center to find the Pokémon Gym.

Route 1 - Jimmy & Sarah

Trailing behind their neighbors Jimmy and an upset Sarah was walking through Route 1 obviously behind everyone. With every footstep, Sarah stomped her feet while Jimmy follows scared of Sarah's anger exploding at any second. "I can't they all left us while we were playing." Sarah grumbled while still moving ahead.

"Don't be angry Sarah. We know they're not that far ahead of us. We can catch up to them in no time." Jimmy encouraged the girl trying his best to keep her temper from reaching a tipping point. Passing throughout Route 1 would also involve passing through the tall grass. The two were then ambushed by a Rattata.

"Eww, a rat." Sarah was disgusted with the appearance of the rat-like creature.

"Wait, Sarah. I think it's another Pokémon. Professor Oak did say that Pokémon did come in different shapes and sizes." Jimmy reminded his friend however Sarah was still disgusted with the appearance of the rodent-like Pokémon.

"Well whatever it is, it's perfect to get beaten by Charmander." Sarah said gripping the Pokéball that contained her Charmander. She then opens it up and her Charmander appears.

"(What's going on?)" The Charmander questioned being released from his Pokéball for the first time.

"Alright you, go and battle that rat thing or something." Sarah demanded. Hearing the demanded from his trainer Charmander scoffed at the clear lack of experience that Sarah has.

"(Some trainer I get stuck with.)" Before Charmander could battle for itself a ping was heard from Sarah's Pokédex as the orange-haired girl pulled it out from her back pocket.

"Charmander's known attacks are Scratch and Growl."The voice from the Pokédex informs them before Sarah pockets the device once again.

"Alright then. Charmander, go and scratch that rat thing." Sarah ordered.

Readying its claws Charmander charges at Rattata"(Say your prayers you rodent.)" Charmander confidently boasted landing the attacking as the wild Rattata was sent flying a few feet backward. Not wanting to be shown up Ratatta was charged with a Tackle attack.

"Move out of the way!" Sarah shouts at the fire type which Charmander does at the last second avoiding the collision. "Scratch it again." She ordered. Charmander landed another Scratch with this one causing enough damage to knock out the Rattata. "Not bad, Charmander." Sarah gave her Pokémon a bit of praise before returning him.

"Great job Sarah." Jimmy gushed his friend with praise. The two continued on Route 1 and eventually, another Pokémon made its appearance in front of the two. A small Pokémon with brown fur and a tail, A round body with wide arms and small feet, long dark brown ears, beady black eyes, and a small mouth. On its belly is a white ring and there are dark brown stripes around its tail.

"Oh look Sarah, another Pokémon." Jimmy commented and by the appearance of this was more at peace with this Pokémon. He even went up to it and started petting the small Pokémon.

"(Ahh that feels nice. Got any snacks to come with this?)" The Pokémon known as Sentret complimented appreciating the petting it was getting on his head.

"Why don't you battle this one, Jimmy?" Sarah suggested. Jimmy then thought about it thinking of doing something more than just battling it as he picked up one of the empty Pokéballs that he got from Professor Oak.

"Would you like to come with me?" Jimmy questioned.

"(Sure. Hopefully you got some snacks for later on.)" Sentret commented. He then backs a few feet back from the two.

"Alright, go Squirtle." Jimmy called opening his Pokéball revealing the water starter.

"(You need my help?)" Squirtle questioned in a quiet shy voice before realizing that they were currently in a battle. Sentret not wasting any more time charges in, via a Tackle attack.

"Quick, dodge it Squirtle." Jimmy called out as Squirtle managed to just get out of the way as Sentret charges right past Squirtle. "Now, Tackle right back!"

"(Y-you got it!)" Squirtle said as he charges headfirst into Sentret's midsection, sending the normal type backward. Not wanting to continue the battle much longer against a potential friend, Jimmy decides to throw the Pokéball which hits Sentret on its head before the Pokéball then opens and sucks the normal type in and falls to the ground. After a few shakes the Pokéball dings indicating a successful capture.

"Hooray! We did it Squirtle!" Jimmy celebrated with the water Pokémon who sheepishly rubbed the back of its head, still gaining Exp. from the capture. Jimmy's Pokédex then completed the full entry of Sentret.

"Sentret, The scout Pokémon. When acting as a lookout, it warns others of danger by screeching and hitting the ground with its tail." The Pokédex finished analyzing the new capture Pokémon.

"I caught a sentret!" Jimmy exclaimed in cheer holding the Pokéball up high. While Sarah was happy for her friend she let a bit upset that Jimmy now has two and she still only had just Charmander. However, she pushed that mentality to the back of her mind as they continued towards Viridian City.

Viridian City - The Eds

Back with the Eds, after searching around the city for about five minutes they finally located the Viridian City Gym. Eddy walked up confidently to the front doors while Double D and Ed stood behind him. Ed was ready for more battles with his Charmander while Double D looked nervous from the outside view of the gym. He was still curious about the positions that Gym Leaders carry in this region and this would be his chance to witness one at first glance. "Alright so all we have to do is beat the guy in charge of this place in a battle, get a badge, and we're on the first step road to fame, fortune, and glory." Eddy recapped.

"Well, that is a way of saying it but yes indeed Eddy that is the plan." Double D verified Eddy's step-by-step plan.

Hearing he was right Eddy tightens his fist even more confidently and full of excitement. Double D sensed this had tried to muster every ounce of courage he could. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Eddy charges for the doors of the gym however instead of entering the short preteen collided with the glass doors of the gym. By the time Eddy removed himself from the glass doors he was still disoriented. Shaking the cobwebs from his head the shortest Ed confidence and excitement was exchanged with anger. "What's with these stupid doors?!" Eddy shouted banging against the doors repeatedly trying his hardest to get in. Pressing his hands against the glass Double D looked inside as best as he could and to the best of his judgment it look like nobody was there. "I'm afraid's it seems this gym is closed for the time being, Eddy." Double D informed. Hearing this Eddy immediately recovered from the impact and rose to his feet in anger.

"What?! Closed?!" Eddy questioned as he begins to shout in frustration repeatedly banging on the door before giving up. "Forget this, come on we're not a nonstop trek towards Pewter City and their gym." Eddy begins to stomp away from the building.

"Eddy wait. I'm sure there can still be something we can find to do here but-" Double D was trying to think of a reason to stay and rest however Eddy cut him off.

"But nothing Double D. We're moving on, right Ed?" Eddy questioned.

"Come on Double D, Monster battles await!" Ed agreed with Eddy's choice of action though mostly wanting to battle more with Charmander. Double D, defeated in a two to one vote sighed but still follows alongside his friends.

"Very well then I believe we should switch back to the original suggestion that the Professor gave us, which is to continue heading north towards Pewter City." Double D reminded them.

"Well then, north we go then boys!" Eddy said as he takes on a sprint as Double D and Ed follows after their friend heading north of the city.

Route 22 - Kevin & Rolf

Like what Nazz had told The Eds, Kevin along with Rolf was currently on the route west of Viridian City, Route 22. The two boys were there battling wild Pokémon however Kevin had another motive in mind. After seeing Nazz catch a Pokémon, Kevin wanted to try and catch one of his own. The two bots have been battling Rattatas and new Pokémons named Ponyta and Doduo and Rolf's Charmander learning a new move which was Ember. At the moment the sun was beginning to set and it would be night very soon.

"Kevin-boy, shouldn't we head back to the Pokémon place of healing?" Rolf questioned starting to get exhausted from the repeated battles with the wild Pokémon and he was sure that his Charmander would need healing. "You can head to the Pokémon Center I want to keep looking and battling for a Pokémon to catch." Kevin explained to the farm boy, however it seemed that his wish was about to come true. A small bird with a rough brown plumage on its head, narrow dark brown eyes with white pupils, and a pink short hooked beak with pinkish-red feathers covering its wings and black feathers covering its back. It also has a beige underside with two, thin horizontal stripes, and light pink feet with two toes in front and one in the back. Kevin immediately readied himself for battle and Rolf decides to wait to see how Kevin would handle his capturing a Pokémon "Bulbasaur, you're up." Kevin said sending out his starter Pokémon.

"(Ready for more!)" Bulbasaur psyched himself up as he stares down at his opponent, which was a normal/flying type. "(Well this will be a challenge.)" The grass/poison type commented knowing of the type disadvantage he was in.

"(A little out of your element, aren't you shrub? Too bad for you, this is going to hurt!)" The bird joked before charging at Bulbasaur aiming with her beck.

"Bulbasaur, dodge to the right and Tackle it!" Kevin instructed as at the last second Bulbasaur leaped to his right avoiding the attack and then tackled the aggressive bird.

"(Gues you thought this "shrub" couldn't fight back!)" Bulbasaur threw the insult back at the Spearow. Shooting a glare towards Bulbasaur with her eyes Spearow gave an intimidating leer and a blue aura appears around Bulbasaur. Not sure what that did Kevin tries one of his other moves.

"Bulbasaur, growl it." Kevin ordered as Bulbasaur growled and Spearow was engulfed in a blue aura lowering her physical attack evening out the status battle. Even with the attack debuff Spearow charges ahead and lands a Peck onto Bulbasuar's head which sent the grass/poison type. Seeing his Bulbasaur damaged and panting Kevin decided now would be a good time to catch the avian Pokémon. Reaching for his belt Kevin picked up one of the empty Pokéballs and enlarges it. "Alright, You're mine!" Kevin said throwing the Pokéball towards Spearow and it hits head-on and like before with Nazz Spearow was absorbed into the Pokéball which fell to the ground. After shaking three times a click and ding were heard and Kevin nods his head. "Alright, I caught myself a Pokémon." Kevin said picking up the Pokeball containing his new Spearow. Feeling the effects of the battle Bulbasaur was panting next to his trainer and a blue ring emerged from inside Bulbasaur.

"(Nice, got another level up! )" Bulbasaur said to himself and the information became aware to Kevin when his Pokédex started beeping.

"Bulbasaur grew to Level 7! Bulbasaur has learned Leech Seed!" Just then his Pokédex caught his attention as the registration of the new Pokémon.

"Spearow Tiny Bird Pokémon, Its reckless nature leads it to stand up to others—even large Pokémon—if it has to protect its territory." The Pokédex informed Kevin before going back into sleep mode. It seems the Pokédex was

"Congratulations Kevin-boy. Allow Rolf to praise you with the pit rub of victory." Rolf offered as he proceeds to raise Kevin's arm however before he could even attempt the ritual the blue-haired farm boy was stopped by Kevin.

"I said no before, and I'm saying it again, dude." Kevin rejected the offer removing Rolf's grip from his arm and lowering it.

"Hiya guys!" A voice calls out to them as the two preteens turn around to see Jonny who was behind them.

"Jonny wood-boy! You have come this far as well?" Rolf greeted the fuzzy-headed

"Let's do this, Bulbasaur!" Jonny calls as he throws his starter's Pokeball bringing out the grass and poison type.

"(Let's roll.)" Jonny's Bulbasaur boasts in its feminine voice though sounding very ecstatic and similar to her trainer and looking at the Fire-type in front of her.

"(A little bulb? Get ready to be mowed down!)" The wild Ponyta said as he proceeds to charge at Bulbasaur, via a Tackle attack. Jonny however was prepared to avoid the attack.

"Bulbasaur, dodge and use your growl." Jonny instructs as Bulbasaur nods her head jumping backward and then growling at the wild Fire-type which was engulfed in a blue aura signaling an attack drop.

"Rolf wonders if Jonny wood-boy has the skills to overcome this horse on fire." Rolf questioned as both he and Kevin continues to watch the battle. Ponyta was pawing the ground ready to charge at Bulbasaur once again. Jonny saw this and was ready for another counter-strategy. Eventually, Ponyta takes off charging towards Bulbasaur. Jonny would wait until the last second before giving Bulbasaur another order.

"Bulbasaur, dodge again and use Tackle." Jonny instructs as the grass and poison type does just that narrowly avoiding the attack from Ponyta and then ramming her body into the fire-type. Missing both of his previous attacks The wild Ponyta was starting to get annoyed.

"(Stay still, you shrub!)" He shouts going into another Tackle. However like before the attack misses and Bulbasaur counters with another tackle.

"(Don't think so.)" Bulbasaur said colliding with Ponyta once again. Thankfully the fire type didn't have any fire-type attacks so this battle was much easier. Both Pokémon's HP was now at half health and Jonny was sure he could keep going with Bulbasaur.

"Right on! Now, let's-" Jonny stops as he hears a voice coming from Plank. "What's that, buddy?" Jonny questions the 2x4 in his hands. As the "conversation" continues Kevin and Rolf was dumbfounded by what was going on.

"What in the world is he doing?" Kevin questioned seeing Jonny with Plank still up to his ear. Eventually, the peach-fuzzed boy lowers Plank and had a smile on his face.

"Really? You think I should?" Jonny questions the 2x4 in his hands before being reassured by Plank. "Alright, let's give it a try." Jonny said confusing both Kevin and Rolf until Jonny reaches into his pocket and pulls out A empty Pokéball. After enlarging it he aims at the downed Pokémon. "Go, Pokéball!" Jonny calls as the Pokéball sails through the air before colliding with Ponyta and bouncing off. The Pokéball opens and the Fire-type is absorbed into the capsule which falls to the ground. After a few shakes, the Pokéball remains still and A ding was heard.

"Ponyta, the Fire Horse Pokémon. As a newborn, it can barely stand. However, through galloping, its legs are made tougher and faster. Its hind legs, which have hooves that are harder than diamond, kick back at any presence it senses behind it." The Pokèdex shared information about Ponyta with Jonny.

"Alright, check it out, Plank. We caught A Ponyta." Jonny said to the hunk of wood. He then goes to pick the Pokeball up meanwhile Kevin stood there shocked at Jonny catching himself A new Pokemon as well before scoffing.

"Decent baldy, but catching them is just one thing, making them strong is what you should be looking forward to." Kevin advised the fuzzy-headed boy while keeping his back turned to him. He honestly was going to start walking away

"Oh really? How about a battle tomorrow morning?" Jonny declared stopping Kevin in his tracks.

"A battle?" You're on. Tomorrow morning right here." Kevin set the terms for his battle before walking away to the Pokèmon to rest for the night. Rolf was interested as he begins to walk back to the Pokémon Center with Rolf leaving Jonny alone on Route 22.

Route 2 - The Eds

The light of the sun was no longer able to guide the Eds on and the moon was slowly rising into the sky. The Eds were outside the gate that connects Route 2 with the entrance of Viridian Forest however considering the three were becoming hungry and it was getting dark Eddy finally relented and they were allowed to rest and set up a camp for the night however something was soon realized among the three. "What the heck are we going to eat?!" Eddy questioned. Double D didn't have an exact answer as while he packed some food it wouldn't be enough to share among the three.

"Well, gentlemen I do believe I have some peanut butter crackers in my bag to share however I question the matter of calling these a decent dinner serving." Double D explained revealing his peanut butter crackers.

"Ooh ooh, I know!" Ed said digging into his bag puzzling the other two on what their dimwitted friend could be looking for until Ed pulls out a yellowish-orangish cereal box. "CHUNKY PUFFS!" Ed cheered pulling out his box of cereal from his bag which the other two Eds stared at Ed dumbfounded.

"Ed, you idiot! You mean to tell me that the only thing you pack as means of food was chunky puffs?" Eddy angrily questioned. While the boys did enjoy the cereal brand it would serve even less of a meal than the peanut butter crackers. However, considering that the options for food were very limited he decides to just accept it. Double D thinking himself wonders how between the three of them could a box of cereal and some peanut butter crackers last them until they arrive in Pewter City.

"Howdy Eds!" A voice calls out to them as the Eds turns to the source of the voice and realize it was Jonny carrying his best friend, Plank.

"Jonny?!" Double D and Eddy both questioned. Indeed the peach fuzzy-headed boy was now standing in front of the trio of Eds. "What the heck are you doing here?" Eddy questioned.

"I came out here to catch some more Pokémon." Jonny answered the shorter Ed.

"But Jonny don't you know what time it is?" Double D questioned the fuzzy-headed boy wondering what would be the difference between looking for Pokemon at daylight or night.

"Yeah but Plank told me that there are some Pokemon that only come out at night." Jonny explained. While the comment referring to plank was normal to the Eds the fact that they could encounter some new during the night intrigued them.

"I see. So what you are saying Jonny is like other animals that we're used to seeing back home, some Pokemon are either nocturnal or have some other time of day that they only come out at." Double D paraphrased. Once the sock head, Ed was done the Eds looked up to see that Jonny was already in the tall grass looking for A Pokemon. Just then An avian-like Pokemon resembling an owl with brown feathers, A cream-colored stomach, large red eyes which are encircled by black rings, and A small pinkish beak.

"Go Bulbasaur!" Jonny called for as he throws the Pokéball containing his starter as the grass/poison type as it appears in front of the four boys.

"(I'm ready to go Jonny.)" Bulbasaur said as she was already eager for battle.

"Wait A Minute! We can't just let Melonhead getting ahead of us." Eddy said getting up to his feet and brandishing his Squirtle's Pokeball. However before he could do anything else, Double D stops him.

"Hang on Eddy. Maybe this can A good chance for us to learn. Since we don't know how to catch Pokemon ourselves, Let's see what Jonny does." Double D suggested holding an arm in front of Eddy preventing him from throwing his Pokéball.

"Bulbasaur, Tackle attack!" Jonny called as the grass starter charges towards the night owl. The attack landed and the normal/flying type took moderate damage from the tackle attack from the grass/poison type.

"(Lucky Hit. But I can give back just as hard as I can get.)" Hoothoot said as he then charges towards Bulbasaur, via A tackle of his own.

"Dodge it!" Jonny instructed as he waited for the last minute for Bulbasaur to move out of the way at the last second. "Now another tackle attack!" Jonny instructs as Bulbasaur then charges headfirst into Hoothoot once again. Thinking that was enough damage Jonny grips an empty Pokeball from his waist. "Pokéball, Go!" Jonny said throwing the ball as the ball bounced off of Hoothoot's head before opening up and then turning the owl Pokémon into red energy and absorbing it into the ball. Falling to the ground the ball shook once...twice...thrice...then finally A ding was heard signaling A successful capture. "Woohoo, Look plank we caught another new Pokemon." Jonny then picked up the Pokeball containing his new Hoothoot. The registration of the new Pokemon was completed on Jonny's Pokédex.

"Hoothoot, the Owl Pokémon. Every day, it tilts its head in the same rhythm. A long time ago, people raised these Pokémon to serve as clocks. It cries out at the same time every day. A long time ago, people cherished it and considered it a divine messenger sent to tell the time." The Pokèdex explained.

"Congratulations on a fine capture Jonny." Double D praised the fuzzy-headed boy. Meanwhile, Eddy was still upset as Jonny now apparently had more Pokémon than he did.

"Thanks, Double D. I'm heading back in town to get Hoothoot healed up. Catch ya later slowpokes." Jonny before turning around and walking away.

"I can't believe even Melonhead is here showing us up." Eddy said.

"Try not to think too much into Eddy. We best get some sleep if we wish to tackle the task of traversing through the Viridian Forest." Double D suggested getting back into his sleeping bag. Groaning Eddy does the same and it didn't take long for all three Eds to fall asleep.
