It was early morning, around 5.30 AM. Astrid was driving towards Hiccup's house. Yesterday night had been a disaster. When Hiccup showed up in the party she had hoped that they would be able to spend some time together. But then Snotlout had ruin their moment. And if that wasn't enough, he took her to dance! And gods, what a horrible dancer is he. When she finally managed to get out of all that nonsense she couldn't find Hiccup anywhere in the party. To be honest she was kind of disappointed when she found out Hiccup left. And when she thought things can't go any worse Snotlout came to her, completely drunk and wasted and tried to kiss her. She gave him a black eye and returned back to her home.

She couldn't sleep quite well last night. She kept worrying about him. And now she's going back at Hiccup's house to do what she was assigned to do. While driving she had this gut feeling that something is gonna happen. What she didn't knew, but that didn't make the feeling go away. This morning she had received a call from Tim, telling her about a wierd incident which happened in Afghanistan. He was telling about some kind of humanoid robot like thing dropping into a terrorist zone and blowing up their weapon stock and destroying a F-22 raptor and saving it's pilot. It took her whole twenty minutes to wrap her head around that. All of this has increased that gut feeling.

(Five minutes later)

She had finally reached Hiccup's house. It was quite. She had a spare key of the house which Pepper had given her. She entered the house and looked around. She couldn't find Hiccup anywhere, so she decided to check the lab. She was half way downstairs when she heard some noises.

Astrid's P.O.V

"Huh, what's that noise?" I thought as I slowly approached the lab. I suddenly heard a moan. "Is that... Hiccup?" I thought as I sneaked my way towards the lab with my hand on the gun in my holster, which was hidden under my jacket. "Ahh, Toothless be careful, it's a tight fit." I heard Hiccup saying. "Sir, if you don't move so much it won't hurt that much." Toothless said. "Excuse me, but it's my first time doing this." Hiccup said in a annoyed tone. "Wait did he...built a robot for his... personal use?" I thought as my face grew warmer. As I reached down stairs I saw shattered glass all over the floor in front of the door which separated his lab from rest of the house. I could hear more moans coming from the lab. Preparing myself for whatever I am going to see I entered the lab. But what I saw made me stop in my tracks.

Hiccup saw standing on a platform, wearing a black coloured metal armour which matched the description Tim gave me. Multiple robotic arms which were popping out of that platform and celling were removing parts from that armour while Toothless was standing in front of him, monitoring everything. I accidentally stepped on a glass shard.

The notice of a glass breaking got their attention and they looked at me. "Hey Astrid, hey Astrid, hey." Hiccup said with a nervous smile while Toothless was looking at her with wide eyes like someone caught him doing some naughty stuff. "Let's face it, it's not the weirdest thing you've caught me doing." Hiccup said. I said nothing more and quickly dashed out of the lab. "I need to inform my supiriorrs about this." I thought.

As I reached the main door I grabbed the handle and pulled it. But it was no use. The door was locked. I used my spare keys on it, but it was useless. "Uhhh! How could I forget it. Hiccup has an extremely advance security system installed in his house." I thought. I ran inside the living room and spotted the large glass windows on the other side of the room. "Perfect." I thought with a smile as I walked over to the window. I pulled out my gun and checked it's magazine. It was a SIG Sauer P226. I aimed at the glass of the window and shot it. But except for shattering the glass, the bullet emblemed itself in the glass, doing almost no damage to it. I shot at again and again and again, until I ran out of bullets.

I reloaded my gun with the extra magazine I had and kept shooting at it. It was no use. Some of the bullets even bounced off the glass. I pulled out my phone to call my Tim but there was no signal. "Toothless must be jamming the signals." I thought and dropped on my knees in dispaire. I was on verge of tears and was heavily breathing. "Why are you doing this to me?" I said in a low voice. "For many reasons Ms. Hofferson. I can't risk anything to happen to Sir." I heard Toothless say. I looked up to see the hologram of Toothless standing infront of me. He was looking at me with disappointment.

"Why do you care?" I said as I got up and continued "You're just an Artificial intelligence. You don't know what he is like. I need to stop him before he does what he has done with my uncle?" Toothless gave out a sound which sounded like a chuckle. "Security footage, Date 12th June 2002. Location Haddock industries weapon test facility." Toothless said as a holographic screen appears in mid air. I remember that date. It was the same day when the flightmare incident happened. Curiosity took over me and I watched the footage.

In the footage

It showed a 14 year old Hiccup and Fishlegs working on the flightmare missile in the test facility. "This is going to be great Hiccup." Fishlegs said. "Yeah. With flightmare missiles we can avoid a lot of casualties in both side." Hiccup said as he prepared the missile. Suddenly they received a call informing them about the arrival of the people who would be testing their missile. "Let's go." Hiccup told Fishlegs and they both left. Suddenly the scene changed to show multiple people standing in the test site along with Hiccup.Among them were some of the bord members and specialists of Haddock industries, some military officers and Flynn Hofferson. They were all listening to Hiccup explaining the functions of flightmare missile. Just then Stoick entered the test site and apologized for being late. They soon agreed on testing it. The flightmare missile was loaded in a aircraft and Flynn was going to fly it.Hiccup walked over to the console to keep an eye on the functionality of the missile. "Fishlegs, did you do any changes in the missile?" Hiccup asked his partner as the aircraft took off. "No, why?" Fishlegs said as he walked over to Hiccup. "Look there is something wrong with it. The diagnosis shows that it has one of the regulators missing and the power supply is rerouted." Hiccup said. Just then they realised what is happening and looked at eachother. "Someone sabotaged it!" The nearly yelled. "Hiccup picked up the phone beside the console and told them to abort the mission, but it was too late. The flightmare missile exploded, releasing a light blue coloured energy wave which disabled many electronic devices in the area and the aircraft crashed in the test field.Hiccup ran out side in the test field to see what is happening and looked at the crashed aircraft in horror. "HICCUP!" Stoick yelled his son's name. "D-dad let me ex-" Hiccup tried to say but Stoick cut him off. "NO! YOU LISTEN TO ME! YOU JUST NEARLY COST US THE LIFE OF A VALUABLE MILITARY OFFICER! AND YOU'RE MAKING EXCUSES FOR IT!?" Stoick yelled at him. "Get out of here. I don't have time to deal with you right now." Stoick told him coldly. "But dad-" Hiccup tried to say again only to be cut off by Stoick's yell "GET OUT!" Hiccup hung his head and went outside of the test facility.

End of the footage

I was standing there shocked. My right hand was over my mouth. I was on the verge of tears. "He-he wasn't re-responsible for what happened t-to uncle Flynn." I said in shock as a tear rolled down my cheek. "All this time I blamed him for what happened to uncle, while the culprit was entirely someone else." I said as I ran my hands through my hair.

"It wasn't the first time." Toothless said as the holographic screen disappeared. I looked at the holographic dragon as he continued, "In past, during sir's time as an employee at Haddock industries, many of his projects were sabotaged. Sadly I couldn't get the footages of time they were sabotaged. Those footages were removed from the system, so I couldn't identify the culprit." I just stared at him. Tears were freely falling from my eyes as an old memory came back to me.

/Flashback/Hiccup had just exited the test facility. It was heavily raining but he didn't cared. He was walking with his head facing downwards. Just then Astrid approached him. "Ast-" Hiccup was saying but got cut off as Astrid slapped him hard. Hiccup looked at her, the person whom he called his bestfriend with shock. Even though it was heavily raining he could notice the tears streaming down from her eyes."IT'S YOUR FAULT!" Astrid yelled at him "If it wasn't for you and your stupid missile, my uncle wouldn't be in this state!" Hiccup tried to say something but Astrid cut him off with a hand gesture. "Save it Hiccup. I don't want to hear you coming up with some sorry excuse. Consider us done." She said in a agressive tone and left./Flashback over/

I was now crying. "Hiccup was my bast friend and I misjudged him like this. Gods I am such a horrible person!" I thought as I covered my face with my hands. "I have been with sir for a long time Ms. Hofferson." Toothless said and continued "I have seen how he was treated by others, I have seen him crying in a dark corner, I have seen him struggling to find his place in this world." Toothless stopped for a moment and continued "I might be just a rather very intelligent system, but I do care about sir."

"Is-is it possible for me to see Hiccup." I asked as I wiped the tears away from my face. "Sure. He is in the lab." Toothless said and disappeared. I slowly made my way towards the lab, imagining hundreds of scenarios of what can happen. When I entered the room I found Hiccup sitting on couch with his back facing me. He was out of his armour and was wearing a brown cargo pant and a black long sleeved T-shirt.

"You know I never wanted all this." He said sensing my presence and continued,"All I wanted to do was provide this world technology which can reduce the violence in wars. But guess it was too much to ask for. So someone always made sure that I always fail at all my inventions." He chuckled and continued,"I never heard 'i am proud of you' from my father until I built my first ever anti-tank missile. Guess he wanted his son to become like himself." Hiccup stood up, still not facing me. I could here him sniffing.

"And now look at me. The guy who thought he could change this world has built the most dangerous weapon in the world. Guess I am really useless." He said turning towards me. "That's it." I thought and approached him and grabbed him by his collar and said,"Now listen to me Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third. You are anything but useless! You survived and escaped from situations any other person wouldn't be able to. You have turned many impossible things possible! You have saved life's!" Hiccup stood there speechless. "Look Hiccup, I know that people hadn't been fair with you in the past. Heck I myself hurt your feelings, but that doesn't mean you're useless. You're hero Hiccup. You.." I lost my voice as Hiccup suddenly hugged me. I could feel him whimpering. I wrapped my hands around him and leaned into the hug.

"You know tha-that night, five years ago I stood there for hours. Waiting for you. I-I-I thought that you will come back an-and give a chance to explain." He said. I could sense that he was trying to hold back tears. I wasn't any better either. "I am sorry." I said, finally letting my tears fall freely.

We stayed like that for few minutes until Hiccup said,"Hey Astrid." "Yeah?" "It might sound weird but, would you like to be friends with me again?" I pulled away from him and looked in his bright, forest green eyes. "I would love to." I told him with a smile. "Wait, really?" He asked in disbelief. "Yeah. Afterall it's not easy to find friends who let you punch them without a complain." I joked. We both chuckled at that. Just then the one of the computers beeped. "What was that?" I asked.

"Intruder allert." Someone is here Hiccup said and walked over to his computer.
