Thanks to Kinahuel, SilverMoon100 for following/faving my story.
NicoleR85: thanks!
"Hey girl!" the Phoenix greeted as she stepped into Sarah Jane's house where the Flerken greeted her somewhat enthusiastically "you behave for Sarah?"
"She sure did", the brunette woman answered, appearing in the hallway "would never have known she was an alien cat with the way she acted. How are you doing?"
"I'm fine", the Phoenix answered.
Sarah Jane looked at her, not quite believing her. However, she decided not to call her out on it. Instead she just asked "whats with the 50's outfit?"
"Oh, the Doctor, Rose and I went to see Elvis only we ended up in Muswell Hill where we stopped this thing called the Wire from stealing people's faces" the Phoenix explained, making Sarah Jane shake her head.
"Only the Doctor", she remarked.
"Yeah", the Phoenix agreed "anyway, thanks for looking after her for me".
"Anytime", Sarah Jane said "if you ever need somewhere to stay for a bit, my door is always open. Plus I'm more than happy to look after Goose at any time".
"Thanks, I'll definitely let you know", the Time Lady promised. She bid farewell to the woman and left with the Flerken. The two of them then entered the TARDIS where it was parked in Sarah Jane's back garden. The ship let out a happy hum at the sight of her Pilot and her furry friend. "Good to see you too", she said, patting the console, fondly. Goose leapt up onto the jump seat, settling down onto it. "So, where would you like to go?" she asked, turning around to face the Flerken, the skirt of her red swing dress flaring out as she did so.
Before Goose could respond to her, Bobby's amulet suddenly appeared. It hit the top of the jump seat, scaring the poor Flerken. She leapt off of the seat, hissing at the flying object. The Phoenix caught it before it smacked her across the nose. She groaned as she read his message. "Seriously? I have to save their asses again?" she complained.
"Save who's asses?" Raven piped up, making the Time Lady jump "ow!" she exclaimed when the brunette smacked her on the arm.
"Don't make me jump then", she scolded.
"Sorry", the assassin mumbled "but seriously, you have to save who's asses? And can I join?"
"It's Sam and Dean Winchester", the Phoenix replied "and yes you can join me" the platinum blonde cheered, happily.
"Will I get kill bad people?" Raven asked, hopeful.
"Maybe", the Time Lady answered, making the assassin very pleased "really depends on the threat". She turned back to the console and programmed in Bobby's address into it.
The Phoenix and Raven walked across the Salvage Yard to Bobby's house and knocked on the front door. "Hey, Bobby", the Time Lady greeted when he opened the door "I got your message". She held up the amulet.
"Nix", Bobby said, grateful to see her "who's your friend?"
"This is Raven", the Phoenix replied "So, what's the SOS?"
"Come on in. You have to see it for yourself", Bobby replied. He stepped aside, allowing the pair Lady to enter. He led her into the front room where books were scattered all over the place. "The boys are on a case and it's a really weird one", he explained.
The Phoenix picked up a pad that had some notes scrawled onto it "Gators in sewers…UFO abductions…" she turned to Bobby "what the hell kind of case is this?"
"A really fun one", the assassin commented "can't wait to find out what beastie is actually responsible". Bobby shot the Phoenix a look at how happy the platinum blonde seemed to be at her own words.
"She's an assassin", the Time Lady explained.
"But I don't kill people or beasties unless they're really bad", Raven added "or they annoy me or try to harm my friends".
"Ok", Bobby said, slowly "anyway I have no idea what case this is. I barely got the story out of the boys from over the phone as they were bickering too much".
"Uh huh", the Time Lady said. She scanned the page "well, it looks like your typical haunted campus, alien abduction, alligator-in-a-sewer gig", she joked.
"Ooh that's a first for me!" Raven declared, stealing the notepad out of the Phoenix's hands "now I really wanna find out what this thing is".
"Well, what you see is all I got", Bobby confessed "I was hoping you'd be able to help me Nix".
"Of course I can", the Time Lady assured him "You better stick the kettle on cos this could take a while", the Phoenix said, snatching the notepad back. Bobby nodded and headed to the kitchen to pop the kettle on.
"Can you have caffeine?" Raven asked her.
"I can as I'm still in the early stages but later on I'd have to switch to decaf", the brunette replied, not looking away from the page.
About an hour and three cups of tea later, the Time Lady still hadn't figured out what Sam and Dean were even hunting. "Bloody hell these tall tales are giving me a headache", the Phoenix grumbled, rubbing her temples. She tossed the notepad aside.
"It's like something or someone is playing a trick on them", Bobby commented.
"A trick…" the Phoenix took up the notepad, looking it over once more "of course. That makes sense".
"Care to share?" Bobby asked.
"The thing that they're chasing…it's a Trickster", the Phoenix explained "I should've seen it sooner but the things the boys told you about just made no sense whatsoever. Which is the biggest clue. That and you said that they were arguing over the phone. This Trickster knew that Sam and Dean were onto him/her so it decided to get them so turned and at each other's throats, they couldn't even think straight".
Bobby sat back "a Trickster", he repeated "I knew it was a good idea to get your help. Thanks Nix".
"You're welcome", the Phoenix said.
"Great!" Raven rubbed her hands together "so where do we find this Trickster?"
"He or she is very likely to be at the place the boys were investigating, Springfield University", Bobby answered.
"Thanks", the Time Lady said "I'll let you know when it is done".
"These twigs are supposed to kill the Trickster?" Raven asked, twirling a wooden stake dipped in fake blood.
"If it were actual blood from one of the Trickster's victim, then yes", the Time Lady replied "but since its not, it wont do bugger all". The assassin gave her a confused look.
"Why are we armed with them then?" she questioned "I mean we both have our own means to kick ass".
"I know but it has to look like the Trickster is dead", the Phoenix said and showed her the note she'd found taped to the door of the TARDIS.
"This seems awfully personal", Raven remarked as she read it "you know him?"
"Yep. His actual name is Gabriel and he's an Archangel. He's just playing the part of 'Trickster' as part of a witness protection", the Phoenix answered, grabbing hold of the door and pulling it open.
The assassin snorted "Witness protection for angels", she muttered, highly amused "think I've heard it all now". This had the Phoenix cracking a smile. She tucked the stake away in her jacket pocket and descended the stairs.
"You've been busy Gabriel", the brunette remarked to the Archangel who was standing on the stage "not exactly what I call laying low".
"I got bored", Gabriel told her, jumping down from the stage.
"You know most people when they get bored, they take a walk or watch TV or read a book", Raven commented "not killing people. However, it was quite creative how you did it. I'd take my hat off to you if I was wearing one".
Gabriel chuckled "at least one of you is impressed", he stated "how are you and the little one doing, Nix?"
"We're both good", the Phoenix answered.
"That's good", the Archangel said, pleased to hear it "I suppose we should get down to business. 'Killing' me".
"Yeah we probably should", the Phoenix agreed, taking the stake back out.
Gabriel settled down in one of the chairs "take your best shot, gorgeous", he said holding his arms out.
"Think I could do it, Nix?" Raven asked "a fake murder is still a murder".
"Go ahead", the Phoenix said, gesturing to the Archangel. The assassin grinned and then jammed the stake through Gabriel's chest. The Time Lady took a picture of the body and started toward the stairs with the assassin. At the top of the stairs, the Phoenix paused and looked back. The body was gone and Gabriel was slouched in another chair smirking at her. He waggled his fingers at her before he disappeared.
"He's an awesome friend", Raven stated as they left the auditorium "not many people would let me kill them".
"That's Gabriel for ya", the Phoenix remarked "he's good like that".
Sam opened the door of his and Dean's hotel room, looking at Raven in confusion. "Can I help you?" he asked.
"No, but I just dealt with your little problem", the assassin replied, showing him a photo of dead Gabriel on the Phoenix's phone "you're welcome" she tucked phone in her pocket "oh, and next time you and your numpty of a brother get into a scrape…don't bother asking Nix for help. She has got enough stuff of her own to deal with without having to pull your asses out of trouble" she patted him on the arm "just something to think about". Raven then turned and walked away.
"You didn't need to tell them that", the Phoenix said when the woman joined her by the lift.
"Yes, I did", Raven insisted "Nix, you're pregnant. You should be more concerned with the wellbeing of yourself and your baby than what trouble those two have gotten themselves into".
"Can't I do both?" the brunette asked earning her a look from the assassin.
"I know you're a great multi tasker but in all honesty you need concentrate on yourself and your child", the platinum blonde replied "so please do that, ok?"
"Ok, I will", the Time Lady promised.
