Thanks to Bunny's daughter, mrs- morgan 35, blushingpixie for following/faving my story.
NicoleR85: thanks!
The Doctor sat by Jenna's bedside, extremely worried. It had been weeks since Brother of Mine had shot her and she still hadn't woken up. Not even when he and Martha did an unexpected trip to 1969, courtesy of the Weeping Angels. "She still not awake?" Martha asked from the doorway.
"No", the Time Lord replied "I don't understand, Martha. She should be up and about by now".
"Maybe Jenna needs more time to heal?" the black woman suggested, coming into the room.
"I hope that's all it is", the Doctor said "otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do". Martha, placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Jenna is a fighter, she'll pull through", she assured him "besides if the roles were reversed, she would never give up on us. So we can't give up on her".
"You're right", the Doctor agreed "I'm not going to give up" he glanced at her with a grateful smile "thanks Martha".
"You're welcome", Martha said, squeezing his shoulder gently before leaving him to it. The Doctor tuned his attention back to his Impossible Girl.
"Please wake up, Jenna", he whispered.
"Jenna", a voice whispered. The brunette woke up to find herself alone in the med bay. In the doorway was 2nd Niayah. The Time Lady beckoned her over. Jenna got out of bed and went over to her. Before she could say anything to the ginger, she turned and walked away.
Jenna hurried after the Time Lady, following her through twists and turns until they reached the door with her name etched on it. "Why are we here?" she asked.
"You'll see", Naiyah replied and then moved through the door, just like she'd done before. The moment she'd disappeared, the swung open. Jenna was about to enter when she heard beating of drums. She turned around, trying to pinpoint the noise but she couldn't seem to find it. The brunette shook her head and stepped into the room.
Jenna frowned, noticing that there were books on the other podiums but they glowing. For some reason this entire thing felt really familiar to her. "I didn't think all these books were supposed to appear all at once", she remarked to the Time Lady.
"They're not. But something is about to happen, something really bad", Naiyah explained. She stiffened when she heard the drums. Four beats, over and over again. "We warned you before in the last dream", she added.
Jenna frowned "I don't remember that", she said "I mean I tried but I couldn't".
"That's because you weren't supposed to know", a blonde woman in military garb replied, appearing from on of the books "but someone…" she shot a look at the ginger "wanted you to know sooner rather than later. Its why the rest of us had to make you forget. Until now".
"Ok, so what did you tell me before?" Jenna asked.
"The drums", 12th Naiyah answered "they're coming". The drumming grew louder causing the Time Ladies to look really, really afraid. "Jenna, I need you to remember this. Its very important. You are not alone".
"I know I'm not, I've got you guys", Jenna said, not really understanding what the Time Lady meant.
"No, Jenna. You. Are. Not. Alone", 12th Naiyah insisted. The brunette was about to say something when all of a suddenly the room started to blur around her.
"Guys wait!" she called "I don't understand!"
Jenna gasped awake, startling the Doctor. "Oh thank god", he breathed, ignoring how his hearts were hammering in his chest.
"Doctor", she whispered "are you…you?"
"I am", the Time Lord confirmed "I opened the watch after you were shot".
"I'm so sorry", Jenna said quietly "it's all my fault. If I haven't gotten hurt…"
"Don't blame yourself", the Doctor cut in "it's not your fault either".
"But you gave up being human to save me", the brunette argued, starting to tear up.
"And I would do it all over again", the Time Lord said gently, wiping away a tear from her cheek "I would go to beyond the ends of time to save you. I love you Jenna".
"I love you too", Jenna said.
There was a moment of silence before the Doctor spoke up "you know, you deserve a little break. How about I take you to see your mother?" he suggested.
"Yeah, that sounds good", Jenna agreed "its been a while".
"This is nice", Jenna commented as she and Sarah Jane sat outside in the garden, glass of lemonade in their hands, looking up at the stars.
"Yeah it is", Sarah Jane agreed. She definitely missed having her daughter around the house, it was much quieter, especially with K-9 away as well. "So how are things going with you and the Doctor?" she asked.
"Its going really well", Jenna answered.
"That's good", the older woman said, happy to hear it "what about Miss Jones? How's she doing with the travelling?"
"She's gotten pretty comfortable with it and we've gotten used to her being around", the young woman replied "she…she helps with…Rose", she added quietly. Sarah Jane set her drink down and put her arm around her daughter's shoulders. "I really miss her", Jenna admitted, putting her own drink aside "so much".
"I know", Sarah Jane said softly. She knew how much Rose meant to her, the girl was her best friend…a sister even. Jenna sniffled, leaning into her mother's side.
"At least she's with her family", she mumbled "I know couldn't have gone without you".
"Likewise", Sarah Jane agreed, dropping a kiss on top of her head. Jenna sighed and turned her gaze up to the stars. She wondered where the Doctor and Martha were at the moment and whether the Time Lord was getting into trouble. Probably quite a bit knowing him. "Honey? Are you ok?" Sarah Jane asked when Jenna slowly stood up, staring at the sky.
"The skies are filled with diamonds", the violet eyed young woman murmured, making her mother frown.
"What does that mean?" Sarah Jane asked.
"Huh?" Jenna said, looking around at her mother, confusion.
"What you just said, what does it mean?" Sarah Jane questioned.
"I didn't say anything", Jenna replied "I'm a little tired mum, goodnight", she added somewhat abruptly before Sarah Jane could saying thing to her. She then went inside the house, leaving her mother standing there, confused by both her remark and the way she just changed.
The next day saw Jenna curled up with her sketch book and cup of tea. Her pencil danced across the page, the image slowly forming. Suddenly her movements stilled when she got an all too familiar sensation came over her. "Oh god…Doctor…Martha!" she exclaimed. She jumped up from her chair and raced out of the attic.
"Whoa! Whats the hurry?" Sarah Jane cried when her daughter pushed past her on the stairs.
"It's the Doctor and Martha! They're in trouble", Jenna explained hastily.
"Do you want me to come with you?" the older woman asked as her daughter hopped off of the bottom step.
"No, I'll be alright", Jenna assured her "I'll give you a call later", she promised before she left the house.
Jenna bailed out of her little car when she got close to Martha's home. She ran the rest of the way, flashing her sonic over the lock when she reached the door. "Get out!" she shouted, startling the Doctor, Martha and Jack.
"Why?" Martha asked, confused.
"Unless you wanna get blown up by the bomb on the back of your TV, I suggest you move", the brunette shot back. That had them all hastily exiting the building.
"Are you sure there was a bomb?" Jack asked when they got to a safe distance. Before Jenna could say anything, the place exploded.
"Yeah, pretty sure", the violet eyed woman deadpanned "how are you by the way?"
"Fine", the American replied "aside from the fact that I can't die".
Jenna blinked at him "Oh!" she said, surprised "didn't see that coming. You look pretty good for an immortal".
"Thanks", Jack said "you look good too", he added with a flirtatious smile. The Doctor moved closer to Jenna, placing a hand on her back.
"Thanks but I'm taken", Jenna explained.
"That's a shame", the American remarked "but good on ya Doc". Martha took out her phone and rang her mother.
"Martha what are you doing?" the Doctor asked.
"He knows about me", the black woman replied "What about my family?"
"Don't tell them anything", the Time Lord warned.
"I'll do what I like", Martha snapped.
"He? Who's he?" Jenna questioned, confused.
"Short version. We went to the end of the universe and another of the Doctor's people. The Master aka Mr Saxon aka an old guy called Yana", Jack told her.
"Yana?" Jenna repeated "Oh my god…you are not alone…" she breathed "she warned me. I didn't know what it meant until now".
"She?" Jack frowned.
"Naiyah", the Doctor and Jenna chorused.
"Its um…complicated", the brunette added. She didn't quite want to go into the details of how she had a connection with the dead Time Lady.
"Dad? What's going on? Dad?" Martha shouted down the phone, gaining their attention "We've got to help them".
"That's exactly what they want. It's a trap!" the Doctor said. While he was concerned for Martha's family, he was more worried about having Jenna anywhere near to the Master, not after what he had said when he stole the TARDIS. Martha turned to Jenna. "Oh, no don't look at her for help", the Time Lord said sternly.
"I can speak for myself", Jenna said sharply "and yes Martha, I'll help you".
"Thank you", the black woman said, gratefully.
"No problem. Now lets go save your family", Jenna said "we can take my car". She walked over to it, followed by Martha, Jack and the Doctor following.
Jenna sped through the streets, forcing her passengers to hold on for dear life. When she got to Francine's house however, she slammed on the breaks at the sight of armed police. "Jen, reverse. Reverse now!" the Doctor ordered. The brunette threw the car into reverse just as the police opened fire on the vehicle.
"That's just great, we're being shot at and my family are being taken away", Martha griped "this is all your fault!" she snapped at the Time Lord.
"Where can we go Doctor?" Jenna asked "my house is out of the question".
"I don't know", the Doctor admitted "we do need to ditch this car though". The violet eyed woman sighed but nodded. Jenna drove a little further before she pulled over in the shadows of an underpass. As soon as she exited the vehicle, she took out her phone and called her mother.
"Hey honey", Sarah Jane greeted "you manage to help Martha and the Doctor in time?"
"I sure did", Jenna replied "though now we've got a bigger problem. I'll explain everything later but I need you to stay inside and do not answer the door".
"Sweetheart if you're in some kind of trouble…"
"Promise me!", Jenna interrupted "I just…can't see you get hurt mum", she added quietly.
"Ok, Jenna. I'll stay at home as long as you promise me that you'll be careful", Sarah Jane said.
"I promise", the brunette vowed.
"Aw how sweet" came a male's voice which made Jenna stiffen "its nice to hear you put your mother first Miss Smith".
"You touch my mother, Master, I'll kill you", Jenna threatened. The Doctor tried to take the phone from her but she just moved away.
"Oh you are full of fire!" the Master proclaimed "just like my Niayah".
Jenna frowned "Your Naiyah?" she repeated "somehow I highly doubt you and she were in a relationship".
"Doubt all you like, she was mine", the Time Lord insisted.
Jenna held the phone out to the Doctor "you talk to him or I'm gonna start yelling at him. Mr Deluded thinks he had a thing with your best friend", she told him.
"You never had anything with her", the Time Lord stated when he put the phone to his ear.
"I could've done", the Master insisted "she was my best friend too until you turned her against me".
"Still holding onto that after all these years", the Doctor scoffed "you need to let go".
"How can I let go when you killed her! Though I suppose I could get over it with the help of your little Impossible Girl", the other Time Lord said. The Doctor's hand tightened around the phone as his anger rose.
"You are never going anywhere near her", he growled.
"Never say never, Doctor. In fact…I even say that I have a 'feeling' about it", Master said.
"Its never going to happen", the Doctor gritted out. Jenna plucked the phone out of his hand, seeing that he was about half a second away from exploding.
"Listen up Master cos I'm going to say this once. You never had a thing with Niayah. You will never, ever have a thing with me. And whatever you're planning, just know that I WILL stop you".
"And how are you going to do that?" the Master asked.
Jenna met the Doctor's eyes and smiled "Let's just say…I have a 'feeling'", she replied and hung up "that guy has some major issues", she stated, tucking her phone away.
"Tell me about it", the Doctor muttered "I'm sorry he got to you".
"Him? Get to me?" Jenna scoffed "as if. The Master is nothing but a petulant child who tried but failed to get under my skin" she took his hand "besides no guy could ever drive a wedge between us. I love you and that'll never change, even if you do".
The Doctor smiled and pulled her into a hug "what did I do to deserve you?" he murmured.
Jenna looked up at him "you saved me from a burning building", she answered, giving him a kiss.
