That I want and I'm needing
Youtuber Sirius is forced to go camping for his channel. He doesn't account for Remus Lupin to be working there, and to fall head over heels. Camping fluff
Wolfstar, Jamulus
Sirius hates James right now. He hates him so much. Because it was James' idea to get ratings up and subscriptions up by offering viewers a prize draw to anyone who donated in the last show. The prize - to pick (within reason) what Sirius would do next.
Sirius is a youtuber. He loves his job, and his channel is dedicated to his vlogs about doing just about everything. And there's a lot for him to do, because viewers love watching someone who doesn't know how to do a single menial task attempt and more often than not, fail. They all root for him and are delighted when he finally figures his shit out.
The winner of the prize though… camping. The girl said she wanted to see Sirius go camping. It's the worst idea ever because camping involves bugs. It involves sleeping on the hard ground. It involves cold sleeping bags and weeing on a tree. He heard that people shit in holes and cover it with dirt and that's something that makes him feel ill.
He turns to the camera and smiles widely. "Well viewers, here we are. A real-life camp site." He looks around. He's picked the one with the best reviews. The reviews talk about friendly staff and no bears.
Not that there are bears in England. Probably. According to google, he's not going to be murdered by bears in his sleep. But the internet often lies, like that article that said that James and Regulus were seen kissing when Sirius is certain that it was just an embrace that was taken the wrong way by an over-eager photographer. And the kiss… well, James was clearly just leaning in to kiss Regulus' cheek. Friendly stuff. Stupid reporters, blowing everything out of context.
He prefers a different type of bear. He makes a point of telling his viewers this with a lavish wink.
Peter lugs their stuff along whilst James moves the camera after Sirius, as Sirius walks through. Peter has already checked in before they unloaded the car in the parking lot. "This is where we'll be spending the next few nights. Right here in… Moondrop Acres. Cute little farm down the way too, and I heard there's a farmer's market in town and we've never been to one of those." He beams at the camera. They love a good market.
He glances towards Peter and Peter gives a thumbs up as he watches on his phone.
"Well, let's go see where home is for the next few nights."
Sirius leads the way to the spot they've been allocated, getting distracted along the way. James and Peter do their best to get him on track, and finally he spots Regulus in the distance, talking to some strangers.
"Regulus," he calls, and Regulus excuses himself from the people. "Why don't you do the boring bits and tell people the history of this place?"
"Boring?" Regulus says, frowning. "Interesting. I'll have you know that half the viewers are here because they love me."
"Not as much as they love me," Sirius points out, causing his brother to glare at him. Friendly rivalry is ratings, and it's fun to wind his brother up. "Right, you get on with it and I'll start… uh, do tents come with instructions?"
"They do, but why don't you give it a go without them first?" James calls.
Sirius pouts at the camera. "Chat wouldn't like that," he comments, fluttering his eyelashes. "Would they?"
"You should do a vote," Peter says, and within seconds, the vote is up and James' grin tells Sirius all he needs to know about what the result will be.
With a sigh, Sirius sets his stuff down and he starts to look through the equipment, trying to figure out how on earth tents are erected.
"I love a good erect tent," he shouts, as Regulus gets into the history of Moon Acres. His brother flashes him a dirty look, and Sirius grins sweetly back.
It's hour three and Sirius finishes the bottle of water. It turns out that tents do not come with instructions, and Peter is currently watching a how-to video, whilst James sits and does nothing but record, the lazy arse. Regulus is supervising and telling Sirius what to do, and of course he's wrong.
"It's no good," Peter sighs. "I don't have a clue what this means."
"Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt what you're doing, but do you need help?" The voice that asks is that of beauty and Sirius drops everything to the ground. The metal poles clink against each other as he does, and he spins around.
The man standing behind James is a vision of beauty. Heavenly amber eyes, tousled dark-blond hair and tall and lanky with a cardigan.
"Hi, I'm Sirius Black." He eagerly rushes forward, hand outstretched. He avoids falling over the tent poles, strewn across the ground.
"Remus Lupin," the other man says, ducking his head as the camera turns his way. "I… I saw that you were struggling, and do you need help?" He shakes Sirius' hand and his cheeks redden as Sirius' hand lingers on his.
"All the help we can get," Sirius murmurs. "So, tell me, do you come here often?"
Remus smiles shyly. "Yeah. I work here."
"I'm having a little trouble with my erection," Sirius murmurs smoothly. "Want to lend me your hand?"
"I'm sorry, what?" Remus squeaks.
"My tent erection," Sirius replies innocently. "It won't stay up."
"I can help you get it up," Remus replies. "The tent!" he quickly adds, his eyes widening.
Sirius smirks.
Sirius finds every reason to go to the desk and find Remus and ask for help. James follows with the camera, and Remus' face lights up at the sight of Sirius each time.
It doesn't take long for the chat to put up their own poll on whether Sirius should ask Remus out or not. Sirius laughs this off - the chat always try this sort of shit, and usually he ignores them.
Usually.
But he's never met anyone as beautiful as Remus before. Remus is just adorable, and he's made this whole experience better, and when it starts to get a little dark, Remus invites the group to the campfire that he's set up outside his little cabin.
James sets the camera down on an old log, pointing it at the campfire.
Remus finds working at the campsite a little boring. His parents own it, and he's only helping out before he goes to university and didn't expect anything exciting to happen.
Until he laid eyes on Sirius Black.
The man can't do a single right. He can't set up a tent, he can't get the air-beds blown up, and he's run away from every single bug they've encountered. It's hilarious and very much adorable and Remus finds himself watching out for Sirius throughout the day, eager to help when Sirius asks.
Finally he plucks up the courage to invite them to the campfire he's made, under a ruse of being worried about them being first-timers there and not knowing the correct way to put out the fire.
The staff always go around and ensure that the fires are correctly extinguished. Remus is sure that Sirius would've worked this out too, but still, Sirius and his friends all come.
It goes amazingly. Spooky stories, marshmallows. Sirius' leg touching his and laughter in his grey eyes as he tells Remus about some of the stuff he's had to do on camera.
"You must lead an exciting life," Remus comments quietly, as the fire starts to die down.
"It can be," Sirius says. He reaches for a bottle of lemonade, just as James stands up.
"I'm going to turn in for the night," James says.
"Oh. I'll walk back with you," Regulus says, jumping up eagerly. Sirius laughs at this.
"I bet the stories scared him," he says. Remus looks back at the two men who are walking away and it's very obvious why they're rushing back, and he hides his own smirk.
"Your friend left his camera," Remus points out.
"Oi, Potter. Camera?" he calls.
"It's off," James shouts back. "Peter, bring it back, yeah?"
"Sure," Peter calls, roasting another marshmallow in the fire. He puts his headphones in his ears and pays little attention to him and Sirius.
"This is the most fun I've had in a while," Sirius continues, after a long moment. "It's fun doing all this, the show, travelling, but sometimes I just want to sit down and have a laugh and chat and… and meet new people."
Remus nods. "I get to meet people a lot here," he says. "But travelling, seeing new places. It sounds amazing."
"This right here is amazing," Sirius insists softly. When Remus looks at him, it feels like Sirius is closer to him, and Remus' heart is pounding away, almost hurting his chest with the force. Sirius is beautiful, all high-cheekbones and dark curls falling out of the bun on his head.
"It is," Remus admits, because Sirius looks like he's angling for a kiss and Remus isn't about to turn him away because he really wants a kiss. So much.
"Why don't you, though?" Sirius continues.
Remus frowns. "What?"
"Travel? Do whatever you want?"
"I don't want to go alone," Remus admits.
"With me. Come and join us. We've got the rest of the summer to travel, you can come—"
"Oh. You must think me so rude, I wasn't angling for an invitation—"
"I know," Sirius says. "But I offered one anyway. Expenses covered, I'd love to spend more time with you, get to know you better."
Remus considers the offer. He's not really needed around here, and it's his last summer before university. His mum has been telling him to go and do something and make the most of it, and is travelling the UK with a stranger who has a youtube channel even the best idea?
For once, he takes that risk.
"If you're serious, I'll come along," he decides, proud of himself for his spur of the moment choice, rather than planning and considering for days.
Sirius beams. "How about we celebrate that with a kiss?"
Remus laughs at this. He brings a hand up, his fingers stroking down Sirius' cheek. "Yeah. Seal the deal and all that." He brings his face closer, and suddenly Sirius' lips are on his, and Remus can't even think straight because everything about this is perfect. The softness of them, the way they move so gently against his, leaving him desperate for more and more and more. The way Sirius' hand winds into his hair.
But they have to part, and Sirius looks as thrown at how perfect tht kiss was as Remus is.
"Uh. Do you want to… I mean, one of the tent poles looked a little unsteady," Sirius says.
"Oh. I should come and fix that right now," Remus says. "Come on." Sirius grabs his hand and they start to walk from the campsite together.
"Whilst you're at it, why don't you take this to James," Peter calls. "Oh. The light is on, how do you switch the bloody thing off?"
"Well, looks like all of my viewers saw that kiss, I'm sorry," Sirius murmurs, as they walk away from Peter and the camera, whilst Peter tries to shut the power off.
"Hopefully they don't see all the kissing we're going to do for the rest of the summer," Remus replies, because the idea of being on camera gives him a bit of anxiety, but he's sure he'll be useful behind the scenes. But this is worth it, because he feels a real connection with Sirius Black.
"I think we might come camping more often," Sirius admits.
"Have I mentioned that I only camp if I get to share a bed?" Remus retorts.
"Hey, something we have in common. Also, I sleep naked."
Remus laughs. This summer is turning out to be amazing.
