Auction: Fleur/Tonks

Religious Education - Task 3 - write about someone with a temper

I can hear it when you tell me so

Tonks can't help but compare herself to Fleur. Fleur has something to say about that.

Fleur/Tonks

"It is over between me and Bill," Fleur says, pacing the small flat. Anger flashes in her eyes as she does. "I tire of all of that. Of them." Her sky-blue dress twists around her knees as she moves.

"What happened?" Tonks asks. She hasn't seen Fleur in several weeks and grew really fond of the other woman after bumping into her a few times at the Weasleys, and later, around the bank during an assignment. She had bumped into her earlier, but Fleur turned down her offer to go for coffee, insisting she needed to drop bags home. But an invitation was extended for Tonks to come over. Tonks heard rumours, but clearly Fleur needs someone to talk to, she needs to get this out of her system.

"That family," Fleur mutters. "It is like a divide. There is no one in the middle. They either love me or they hate me. Arthur is the kindest man. Fred and George… Charlie, Percy. They are all kind. Even Ron, though I think he remains embarrassed about the Yule Ball."

"That leaves Molly and Ginny."

"I do not expect Bill to take my side and not speak to them. I merely want him to stand up for me, or ask them to stop. But do they stop? No. It is clear Molly does not like me. She does not approve, and she expects everyone to rush around and do as she asks. And that Ginny…" Fleur looks close to tossing her half-empty teacup at the mention. "Phlegm. She does not think I hear that nickname. I am tired of them looking down on me as though I am worthless." She turns to look at herself in the large mirror on the wall, before she continues pacing.

"You're not that," Tonks insists. "You don't treat a female woman like that!" Fleur's hair is almost crackling with electricity. There's something shifting in her features, and Tonks knows it's to do with her veela heritage. She's not used to seeing other people change anything, and Tonks finds it fascinating.

"I am aware!" Fleur says, angrily. She pauses and lets out a breath. "Thank you for saying that, though. I am strong. I am important and I matter. I do not wish to be a part of a family that would treat me any different than what I deserve. I have shown them nothing but respect. Me and Bill have argued over this too many times. I cannot be a part of that family. If I remain with Bill, I will have to spend a lot of time with them. Bill believes they will warm to me over time, but I should not have to work so hard to be treated with common decency."

"Screw them, then. Their loss," Tonks insists.

"I deserve so much better," Fleur murmurs, before turning her blue eyes towards Tonks. "And you? You have shown an interest in Remus?"

Tonks snorts. "Like he ever even looks my way. He's always with my cousin, they're always doing whatever and he has no time for anyone else. No matter what i do…" Something inside of her aches as she starts to wonder if she's even good enough. She glances at the mirror, looking at her own reflection. She can change her features, she knows this. She could make herself as beautiful as Fleur. But she doesn't want someone to fall for her when she's not looking like herself.

Fleur lets out a frustrated sigh. "He does not deserve you. You are beautiful, Tonks. You are smart and you deserve to have someone who will notice you. You should not have to fight like this just to gain his attention."

"Not as beautiful as you," Tonks murmurs. "Maybe if I was… maybe Remus would notice."

This time the cup goes against the wall. "It is his loss," Fleur says. "You are beautiful and do not ever think otherwise. Do not let anyone ever make you feel less. If I were not with Bill, I would have asked you to dinner months ago!"

There's a long silence. Tonks watches Fleur staring angrily at the cup as though it has insulted her.

"You're not with Bill," Tonks softly points out. She's not sure if Fleur is just saying it to make her feel better, but… if Fleur actually feels that way, then what's stopping them going for dinner? She's worried about making this awkward, but this might be her only chance to broach the subject, and Tonks is feeling brave. Maybe it's Fleur's words or her passion, but something is telling her to take this chance.

"You are right. We are both single, and I will be taking you to dinner tonight." With a flick of her wand, the cup is repaired. "We will go somewhere… fun."

"I know just the place," Tonks says. She stands up. "I better go and get ready. I wanna look nice."

Fleur smiles. "You are already beautiful," she insists. "But I will not tell you what to do. I look forward to seeing you later." With that, she approaches Tonks and places a soft kiss to the corner of Tonks' lip.

Tonks can't stop smiling as she leaves. She started off feeling down over Remus, but she's got a date and can't help but be excited. Though, she can't work out how she wrangled the date, she's not complaining.
