Chapter 2

Clark was sitting at his desk in the loft, Lois was on the couch across from him; her feet up on the couch.. It was not long after Lana had left that they began to discuss what had happened; and where to go from here.

"So you haven't told your parents about any of this?"

"No, I wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not. I thought that for now at least, I would play it safe and keep it to myself." Clark leaned back in his chair as he explained; his elbow coming to rest on the desk and putting his head in his hand.

"How are you doing? You know, after seeing your dad alive and all?"

Clark took a breath before answering. "It was, I don't know, it was just so good to see him again." He couldn't help but smile.

Lois smiled too. She got up off the couch and walked over to him, taking his hand in hers as she sat on his lap. Clark squeezed her hand, appreciating the gesture. "I always loved Mr. Kent. He was, everything I wished the general was. A dad."

"I know Lois," he smiled at her. "We still need to come up with some kind of plan. I've traveled through time before, but not like this."

"Hmm," Lois nodded. "Well Brainiac is still out there right. I'm sure you want to make sure Dark Thursday doesn't happen again."

"He wants to use my body as the vessel for Zod. Last time he resorted to using Lex when I wouldn't go along with it." Clark said before realizing something. "He won't be suspecting that I already know what his plan is. That could give us an advantage."

"What about Chloe? Are you going to let her in on it?"

Clark nodded, "she already knows my secret. We could use her help to stop Brainiac. But as for, our situation, I think we should keep it between us for now."

"Clark, what are you so afraid of?" Lois asked.

After thinking for a minute, he began, "I just don't know what to expect or how to move forward from here. I don't know what it could mean if too many people find out we were sent back through time. And plus, it is a lot to wrap your head around. How many people would actually believe it?"

Lois nodded, "I guess you have a point. But you know we can't keep up the charade forever. Sooner or later we will get found out."

"You're probably right," Clark admitted. "Maybe we should just take it one day at a time. Cross that bridge when we get to it."

"I can get on board with that," Lois paused before continuing. "There is, one other thing we need to discuss."

"What's that?"

"Us, honey. If people see us together so soon after breaking up Lana, someone is going to start asking questions." Lois put her arms around his neck. "Should we tell people that we are together?"

"I hadn't thought of that," he admitted. "But Lois, I'm not afraid to let people know that I'm in love with you."

"That's sweet. But I was thinking maybe we should keep it on the down low, just for a little bit. That way it won't seem so sudden and get people poking around. Remember, back in the day we were butting heads all the time."

Clark chuckled at the memories, "I remember Lois. Alright I see your point. For now, we can keep it hidden. But not for too long. I want to be able to hold you without having to worry about whether someone is going to see us."

Without saying another word Lois kissed him. He kissed her back before moving over to the couch where they would be more comfortable. Any further discussions that would need to be had, could wait for another time.

The next morning Clark walked into the kitchen where his parents were getting breakfast ready. They looked up at him as he entered the room and were speechless at what they saw. He was wearing glasses and his hair was slicked back.

"Clark?" Jonathan asked. "Why are you wearing glasses? And what's with the hair son?"

"Well I was thinking, I use my abilities a lot to help people. But I don't do anything to hide my identity. You are always worried about what would happen if anyone saw me, I thought that if I had a disguise that wouldn't be a problem."

"A disguise?" His mother asked.

"Yeah," Clark said as he walked over to them. "I want to do more."

"During the meteor shower there was this kid. He dropped a toy while everyone was running away from their cars. His dad was frantically looking for him. I ran in and saved the boy from being hit by a meteor."

Martha and Jonathan looked at each other, not knowing what to say as they continued listening to Clark tell his tale.

"When his dad reached his, he was so happy that his son was safe. He thanked me before they went running the other way. There are more people like that; I don't just mean in Smallville but all over. People crying out for help, praying that someone will hear them. I can do that."

"Son,"Jonathan began. He was clearly proud of his son. He still wasn't sure where this was coming from. This was so unexpected from Clark. He was still proud. "It's great that you want to do more to help people. What you did for that boy and his family is a wonderful thing, but have you really thought this thing through? You think a pair of glasses and changing your hair is going to be enough to fool people?"

"You would be surprised how effective a pair of glasses can be," Clark chuckled, thinking about his past experiences as Superman. "And it's not just a pair of glasses. Mom, does your sewing machine still work?"

Martha looked at him confused, "Yes, it should still work just fine. What are you wanting to make?"

Clark smiled and pulled out a rough sketch of his costume. To say that his parents were stunned would be putting it mildly. They once again looked at each other, jaws dropped and trying to process all this.

"Guys, I'm not asking you to trust me on this. Let me show you that this is going to work."

"How are you going to do that," Jonathan asked.

"With time," he replied. "You'll see that I can do this."

"Hey Smallville. Mr. and Mrs. K." Lois called as she came down the steps for breakfast. She took one look at Clark and smiled. She could see where this was going and knew it was going to be amusing. "Nice look Smallville."

"What? You don't like it Lois," Clark asked with a grin.

"On the contrary. I think you pull it off nicely," she grinned back as she headed toward the fridge. Martha and Jonathan didn't fail to notice the playfulness in their banter. Something had changed, They chose to say nothing and continued observing for the time being.

"I have to go meet Chloe after breakfast, do you want to come?" Clark asked.

"Sure, I wanted to check in with my cousin before she started her big job at the Daily Planet," Lois said. She poured herself some orange juice and began to drink it.

"So mom," Clark said, getting her attention. "What's for breakfast?"
