So the last two chapters were pretty heavy on the emotional stuff. It was two chapters of people crying. I figured that it was time for a break and have an action focused chapter. So, this is going to be all Superman.
Chapter 7
Circe watched from her island of Aeaea as Superman saved the day. A train had lost control and he stopped it before anyone was hurt. "How interesting. To think that a mortal would possess such power."
"Wait," she said, thinking for a minute. She then started to laugh.
"Yes, that gives me an idea." Circe then opened up her Grimoire. "Yes, this spell should do nicely."
In Metropolis Clark was leaving class. Milton Fine was giving him some strange looks during class. He guessed it was due to him coming out as Superman. It didn't seem like Fine suspected that Clark knew about his plans.
When Clark exited the building he was caught by surprise when a familiar face landed in front of him. "Diana, "he was shocked to see her. He also couldn't help wondering how she found him. One thing he noticed was that she was dressed for battle. "Diana, what are you doing here?"
Suddenly, Diana punched him in the face, sending Clark flying across the campus and into the football field. He rolled across the ground and came to a stop. Thankfully, he had stayed late after class, so almost everyone had gone home already.
"Diana, what are you doing?" He was standing up as she approached him.
"Silence," she commanded. "I have come to put an end to you."
She hit him with another super fact punch, knocking him into the storage building on the other side of the field. Clark took off his glasses and ripped his shirt open. Speeding back out onto the field he stopped in front of her.
"Look, I don't know what's going on here. But I don't want to hurt you." She tried to hit him again, but this time he dodged it. "I'm not your enemy."
"You will not fool me!" she yelled. "HAAAH!"
Diana swung her right arm at him and he duck under it. She followed up by spinning and kicking him with her left foot. He flew back but stopped in midair. He flew at her fast, grabbing her and moving away from the city.
"Whatever is going on with you, I can't let innocent people get caught in the middle." They landed in the middle of an open field. "Diana, you have to stop. Please."
"Enough!" She exclaimed as they both got to their feet.
She went to punch him again but he caught her fist. She then punched with her left hand before he caught it too. She then kneed him in the chest and he hunched over in pain. Once her hands were free, she hit him and he went flying back. He came to a stop before speeding at
Diana, punching her in the face and sending her flying back.
"I'm sorry. But you're leaving me no other choice." Clark never wanted to hit a woman. But this was Diana and she wasn't going to make this easy. She wasn't listening.
Diana got up on one knee, wiping the blood from her mouth and grinning. "Now that is more like it, demon! At least make this challenging!"
"Demon?" Clark questioned. "Diana, there's something wrong with you."
"No more talk, foul creature! I, Diana of Themyscira, will protect these people from your evil!" She ran at him at full speed. He swung at her, but she ducked unter it. Grabbing him, she jumped and flew off with him. They ended up with her slamming him into the side of a mountain. Raising her arms over her head, she locked her hands together and brought them down on his head.
After falling down the mountain to the ground, he looked up to see Diana coming down on him but he backed up out of the way. When she landed, he punched her into the mountain. Grabbing her lasso and wrapping it around his neck, she slammed him back into the mountain. Pulling on the lasso, he went toward her as she side kicked him.
Clark went flying into some trees, tearing them down. Looking up he used his heat vision, but she blocked them with her bracelets. Charging forward, she grabbed his head and slammed it into the ground. He punched her in the stomach and she winced in pain. When she let go of his head, he kicked her in the stomach, sending her flying back.
Standing to his feet, we walked over to were Diana lay on the ground. "Diana, are you alright?"
When he got close enough, she looked back and kicked him in the stomach. She swiped her leg under his and knocked him on his back. Standing back up, she lifted her right leg to bring it down on him, but he saw it and rolled out of the way. When her foot came down she cracked the ground.
After standing back up on his feet, he flew her into the mountain and punched her in the face, drawing blood. Then again with his left hand. She caught the third and punched him instead. He stumbled back before she hit him twice in the chest, then in the head. He swung at her but she caught his arm and flipped him over onto his back. He used his super breath to blow her back.
Getting back up, he suddenly thought of something. Diana grabbed her lasso once again and twirled it over her head. When she threw it at him he caught it. He then used his speed to wrap the lasso around her. After coming to a stop he pulled on it, tight.
"Diana, please listen. There is something wrong. You have to come back to your senses." The lasso glowed as Diana shut her eyes tight, her head throbbing. After a minute, she finally calmed down. Opening her eyes once again, she looked around at her surroundings. Then at the main that had her tied up in her own lasso.
"What is going on here? Who are you? Untie me at once!" she commanded.
Clark breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed to have worked. "I'm sorry, I really didn't have a choice. You attacked me." He went to untie her.
"You are the Superman I have seen on the news. Are you not?" she asked.
Clark laughed. "Yeah, that would be me. What do you remember?"
She thought for a minute. "I was...I was in my home. And then my mind became foggy. I was you as a demon, threatening to do harm to people."
"You weren't yourself," he said as he helped her up. "Do you know who did this to you?"
"Someone with powerful magic. That I know for sure." She said as she looked at him. She then wiped her mouth of blood. "Not bad. You are strong."
Clark chuckled, "Yeah well, you're pretty strong yourself. Though, I wouldn't want to go to a second round any time soon."
She laughed at that. "You would make a fine warrior, though you lack technique. Perhaps some training?"
"Thanks, but I'll pass. But you know, I do think we could be friends." He smiled.
"Friends?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, well. Something tells me that we would make good allies."
"Perhaps," she smiled at him. "But for right now, whoever messed with my mind will get what is coming to them. I will not tolerate being used as someone's toy."
On the island of Aeaea, Circe watched as events unfolded. "Well, that was anticlimactic. Although, this Superman is much more interesting than I had thought."
"One day soon, Diana." She snorted. "But not today."
